Unable to release more space on Moto E XT1025 - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After clearing the caches it has 2gb or more free space, then default apps update start and fill all the memory up, leaving me with less than 200 or my own apps.
Any ideas how to fix it?

If you are rooted, you can remove system app that you don't use.
If not rooted, disable the unused apps, it won't free memory but they won't run so their cache will not grow either and play store won't update those either.
Also, disable auto update on play store.

that's what I'm trying right now, can gmail be removed if I don't use it?
If I use a custom rom like Cyanogen, would it use less memory?

Yes, it can be removed. Use Titanium Backup to remove system apps like gmail. Since you are running CM, you already have root.
Removing all unused apps will free memory.

[Q] why can't I download this app?

Ok so I have 74mb of space left. And I'm trying to download a 9.xx mb app from the play store. However it says I can't because I have insufficient space available. I don't understand how I don't have enough space st 74 MB to download a 9 mb app. I've cleared cache and everything too. Can anyone give me an answer as to why this is? Fyi the app is the game minibash, if that makes a difference
Menu/ Settings/ applications/ manage applications / All (apps) / Google Play Store / Clear cache
try it
Wheres it trying to install SD card or internal memory? 9mb is the compressed file size, once installed it will be larger.
Maybe android is reserving a certain amount of working space for caches and stuff like that. Can you push some apps to sd to free up some space?

Transfer apps from SD to Phone, or from Phone to SD
Every app that is movable has been moved
any apps on which I can clear the data to free up space, like amazon appstore and play store, etc have been cleared, and I clear the cache like 5 times a day. I don't know what else to do.

It tells me on the play store that the size is 9.02 mb. From the play store page of that app I don't know how to tell if it installs onto the sd card or the phone. Is there a wqy to tell?
How many apps have you downloaded? Free up some space by deleting an app or two that you don't use much. Then download this set it to external and move apps at will to the sd card. You should then have plenty of space.
Ok if you're in this forum you should have the evo 3d too, but if you did you'd know that the app you told me to download is not compatible with the 3vo, so I can't use that to help me since I can't download it.

An update then must have made it incompatible if it used to be... Thats how an app is on my phone right now, it has an update but when I go to update it it says its not compatible with my phone so I can't update it. OH well. That'd be a really awesome app cuz i have some apps that are like 10+ mb that are not sd compatible so if I could force them to go there that'd be awesome. But it's not compatible. shoot

You might give that a shot, I have no idea how well it works.

Wierd internal memory issue?

Hi peeps,
Just finished setting up phone with link2sd installed all my apps had like 350mb internal free. Today for somereason I have 5mb free and sometimes 43mb??
Any ideas? Could a game installed it self in the internal memory?
Im running real ics lite and rage kernel.
Very odd I got low space warning, everything is linked to sd card, got a 4gb second ext and using a 16gb class 10 card.
Where can I start to look? Dont want to have to start all. Over again
Thanks in advance

Sometimes, after a reboot, apps not fully linked. You should re-link all apps that already linked. Open link2sd, filter by linked apps, select all then create link again.

That's right, whenever I flash a new rom and get the low memory warning, I just re-link apps on sd-ext and the low memory warning goes away...

insufficient storage. options

Ok I got an insufficient torage error and it was true
it was not a lucky pathcer issue
it was not google play store cache or google service frame work cache, it was just palian out of storage.
so I am rooted and I have ti bu. I also have the sd card swap so its really "memory"
i integrated all app updated into the rom.
I have frozen a lot of apps that I don't use but they are there. can I uninstall them (nfl really) an move some big programs into system
for example my work email gets infrequent updates from the play store and is BIG "touchdown"
Go into settings > storage and use the option to make more space. I had the same issue and it cleared everything up

[Q] Which utility app would you recommend?

I am planning to buy a new phone, maybe LG G3, so a new phone and new kitkat 4.4.2 system to me, I am using Galaxy Note 1 currently. Can anyone suggests a utility app or any app that have all these function? I am using a Chinese app called 360 Dashi at the moment but I don't want to use this anymore, but I didn't find other apps that contain all these function:
1. Delete app cache
2. Free RAM
3. Search & delete empty folders
4. Search & clean leftovers after uninstalling apps
5. Manage app on or off when switch on phone (e.g. I don't want WhatsApp and Google Play "open" when I switch on my phone, which means they will start only when I open it manually)
You can say that I want a cleaning app, something like that, but must contain all those functions. Thanks in advance!

You might want to give Clean Master or SD Maid a try.

SD Maid looks good but it can't free RAM and set apps on and off... Clean master may be able to free RAM but also can't set apps off in booting... Any suggestions?

I have also installed Autostarts (root required!!) or Manage Autostats (again, root required!!). Autostarts lets you disable all autostarts of apps, e.g. after boot complete or any other received receiver.

I would suggest Autostarts, as this app is able to switch off all auto-startup receivers for your apps, e.g. the BOOT_COMPLETE receiver, which indicates that boot is completed. But not all apps are receiving this one, there are several other receivers like EXTERNAL_STORAGE_MOUNTED, indicating that an external storage, for example an SD card, has been mounted - this one will also result in autostart of apps after boot. Quite sad that there is no trial version, but you might give ROM Toolbox a try, it has the same functionality included, at least in its Pro version, but I don't know if the Startup options are available in the free version. If you have Xposed, you can use ReceiverStop for free.

Storage solution (no-root)

I have seen many people complaining about storage full in moto e (condor) I have a easy solution for non rooted users (there are numerous guides for rooted user but this is for non rooted users)
There are few simple steps:
1- Disable all big apps like chrome , gmail , galley etc. It will uninstall there update and you won't be asked to update them .
2- search for the apps as a replacement to the apps you have disabled , the apps you are choosing should be small in size and should be movable to SD card for example - you can use cm browser as a replacement to chrome(its just consume 10 mbs and can be moved to SD card) ,for gallery use quickpic (3-4mb) , and use stock email app instead of gmail , use being or hound in place of google now.
3- clear cache from settings/ storage
You can uninstall updates or disable all those apps for which you can find a small sized alternative.
P.s. by this method I got almost 350-400 mb free space
That's grt!
But my point is, if you are rooted, you can have 1gb free even after installing 105 apps including bulky games! (presently in my case) by using app2sd
P.S. don't mind ?

By using app2sd I had 1.7 GB free even after installing 132 apps
And using adopted SD I got 1.5 GB free thanks to force move option
