Hi,
I own a Samsung Galaxy A5 (SM-A500G) running on Lollipop 5.0.2. I have recently rooted my device and have installed a Root Explorer. My aim was to change my boot animation. At first, I thought that I would replace the bootanimation.zip in system/media, but then, I couldn't find any zip file in there.
I had many files, but the only three which seemed to be related to boot animation were these :
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
bootsamsungmini.qmg
I am sure that I can also do it by flashing the animation in recovery mode. But, I also like my default Samsung animation. If I had found the original bootanimation.zip, I would make a backup and would be able to restore the original animation whenever I wanted. But, with no original bootanimation.zip, how would I do that?
Thanks..

Oh! I understood that. Newer Samsung devices like this don't support the bootanimation.zip. It uses the .qmg format. At least other people who have this query will be helped...

Is it possible to run a custom bootscreen on the Samsung Vibrant via stock ROM? I am operating off a stock rom (UVKA7) and the link below mentioned compatibility with running a custom boot animation. Problem is, I am having a hard time getting this to work.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...boot-animation-on-your-rooted-android-device/
The page mentions copying over bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ folder but I find no file in this folder, in fact, it appears the annoying boot screen is a bunch of images.
posible, yes
you would need to download a handpicked bootanim.zip. use super make sure to use R/W(from settings at main) and drop in in the system/media folder.
But this is only achievable through a rooted device
Hi All,
I had flashed the bootanimation from the Nexus Prime on my X10i and it was working fine. But now I am not able to change the bootanimation by any means and am stuck with the Nexus boot animation.
I have tried flashing the stock bootanimation.zip through xrecovery, as well as tried replacing the file manually, but once i reboot, the phone reverts to the old boot animation.
How can i chnage by boot animation now???

Wrong section, Post your questions in Q & A section
Anyways go to /data/local & delete bootanimation.zip if there's any, then go to /system/media & delete bootanimation.zip if there's any, Then flash the new boot animation that you want
Did I mention wrong section?
Use root explorer or any file manager which can access root files, manually delete the bootanimation from systems/media and replace it with your file.

Ok, so there this copy of the old bootanimation.zip in /data/local - deleting that copy did the trick for me. Thanks!
..with the bootanimation, yes again...
So, I installed a costum ROM, whit was making big problems for me, changed it, but that sucker bootanimation still there. Deleted from the system/media folder the bootanimation.zip file, replaced the BOOTSAMSUNG and BOOTSAMSUNGLOOP.QMG files....now, i get an animation, but on the startup screen that ugly image still appears...
is there any flashable apk file whic will change back the fon to its stock animation or i can explode this phone?

find the bootanimation.zip (often located in System/media or in Data/local) and erase it. I usually do this, or, better, go back to samsung stock rom, I advice you XXKI3, is a full rom and it has a pit file. You shouldn t have problem. bye
Are you talking about the bootscreen BEFORE the bootanimation, by any chance?
If so, that's my cue
Grab this: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.sgs2bootlogo
and go wild on changing it back to w/e you want.
If you grab the file "param.lfs" from a stock ROM update .tar, you can also revert to the original Sammy screen.
If this WASN'T your issue - just silently ignore me

Are you rooted? There are a couple of ways. If you have RootExplorer (or any other file explorer app) go into /system/media and replace the bootanimation.zip. The new file MUST have the same exact name as the one you are replacing. Best bet is to rename the old one (i.e. bootanimation.zip.old) and place the new one. Change the permissions to match the other files in there (rw_r__r__). Reboot and enjoy.
Second method would require you to have the root and CWM installed. You can find and download flashable bootanimations and use CWM recovery to flash.
I prefer the first method though..
Mine doesn't seem to have a bootanimation.zip. There's a bootsamsung.qmg and a bootsamsungloop.qmg but those are the only things that seem to be related to boot animation.
Try replacing sanim.zip using the same instructions as above.

I think stock Samsung Froyo and GB roms have these files.
I have two Players and one of them is still on stock Samsung GB (rooted). And as you mentioned, files are not in zip format. So... I am not sure what to tell you here. I had my other one with a custom GB Rom which had the .zip format boot animation and it was piece of cake to replace. So... you can try a custom rom or just leave the booranimation as it is, I guess...
Maybe someone else has a better suggestion for you.
Flash with CWM Recovery
I'm not too sure whether you can change the boot animation on a stock rom, but on the custom rom i'm using, there isn't a bootanimation.zip file. I simply flashed the bootanimation.zip file through CWM recovery.
Hope this helps!
Hello everyone
After changing my boot sound (from a chinese one to the stock huawei one) when everything went ok!
then i changed the boot animation (again from a chinese to a normal one) but i lost the boot sound!!!
I did all these by just renaming the old files (bootSound.ogg and bootanimation.zip, bootanimationex.zip) and copy the new ones to the same exact folders not with TWRP or something else.
Why this happens?! Inside my original bootanimation.zip the file desc.txt does not contain any information about the sound like s sound.ogg or something like that???
Can you explain me why this happened !? and how can i fix it!
Thank you!
