[Mods delete] - Galaxy Grand Prime General

Mods delete.
Unfortunately this won't happen. Had alot of trouble compiling the rom and deciding to sell it. Not much going on for my particular model anyway (G530T) and no guarantee the rom would work for other devices anyway.
On to the next one. Sorry guys and good luck

whats the catch? we need one to start custom roms and stuff.. and would it work for an SM-S920l Grand Prime?

I just want a custom recovery for the SM-S920L. I did manage to get adb shell working on the stock recovery but haven't figured out how to get an insecure adb binary to be picked up and used so no root.

Not sure what you mean by "catch". In theory, the software should be the same for all Galaxy Grand Prime models? This is the only thing I would be modifying. I understand the kernel/baseband is different between devices (whether through reason of network, region or chipset variences) but the base software should be almost exactly the same across devices and therefore no kernels or basebands would be altered. I would obviously need willing participants to test on their personal devices throughout the development process and be able to provide logs and feedback on bug reports, but as this is supposed to only modify the software and applications I can't really forsee many issues.
That being said, I only own the 530T variant of the Grand Prime and cannot guarantee that EVERY model will accept the rom upon initial release. My team and I will valiantly make every effort to support as many Primes as possible so long as appropriate feedback from the community is gathered.
As I mentioned in the OP, I can just as well provide a tutorial of sorts to guide users along the path to modifying their device on their own. If a full blown rom isn't of much interest since all of the modifications can be done at will, we won't bother. We only look to simplify the process and hope to gain a reputation for doing so

Unfortunate as flashing a custom rom (be it modified stock or otherwise) would require both root and a custom recovery. One of our members has experience building and porting recoveries, but only to devices they have had on hand

My device is rooted, I'm speaking of getting adb root working on the stock recovery which only supports adb sideload. I did manage to get adb shell working, but like I said, if I try and replace the stock adbd binary with an insecure version, the recovery won't pick it up.

by catch, i mean will it cost us anything to get it? etc. etc. and can i contribute to the developement of my grand prime? of like a stock rom or whatever..?

yes please!!!!

This development is entirely on our own time with our own resources. We will never openly ask for money to make something happen. This is a passion, not a business prospect. We do this because we want to. If you'd like to support to the cause by means of monetary or physical device donations so that we may continue to expand our list of supported devices, we won't say no. It's of your own will to do so

i dont have money to send nor a device to give.. would giving you my kernel help in any way to make a stock rom for SM-S920l? or a stock recovery?

It wouldn't hurt. It would also be useful to have something like a TWRP/CWM backup of ONLY the stock system, kernel, data partitions and stock recovery of as many variants as possible so we can ensure support for specific models where needed, provided you have the means to do so (root and custom recovery obviously). This would require a factory reset of your device or an Odin restore. We don't want or need any personal information you have on your phone. It's absolutely imperative that we get a fresh untouched image of the device. Its kind of a backdoor way of getting the information we need pertaining to each device, but obviously it does require some sort of recovery to get even that far. I can attempt to build from my current personal setup and that would allow feedback from others on the stability of flashing and report any and all issues.
Sound complicated? You have no idea lol

I personally don't have much experience in recovery modifications or obtaining such permissions from them but we do have a team member who may. How far his knowledge extends into the subject is beyond me. I just build the roms and do most of the PR stuff on the forums

Doesn't support the Grand Prime at all? I've flashed both CWM and TWRP with no issues. I have currently TWRP installed on my device (530T) but I'm not entirely sure it will support your device. It's not my development so no guarantees
Here's the thread I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/custom-recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0for-lollipop-t3190351
It says only for 530H, I know. But have you tried? I used RASHR from the Play Store to get it on mine. RASHR will also allow you to backup your current recovery in case the flash doesn't take. I recommend doing that first

It won't because its not "officially" supported. But neither is my 530T and I got off just fine. Try to flash the file in RASHR from the thread I linked. If it doesn't take, you've got your backup so no harm no foul

ok so i extracted the tar file using 7zip, and moved the img file into my SD card storage. i used flashify and i opened it up and cicked flash and it said successfully flashed.. and i rebooted and the phone works completely fine.. now what?

Have you booted into the custom recovery or did you simply reboot the phone back to the system? I ask because Flashify also told me it was successful but in reality did nothing. That's why I suggested RASHR. Flashify is hit or miss in my experience

idfk what i did.. i hit chhoose file, selected the img it says successful and i hit the reboot option it gave me, and then that came up... i never rooted a phone before i never de any flashing **** before..

[ROM][TW5.0]mostly stock N900VVRUEOF1[debloated/deodexed/wifi fixed]

I didn't think this warranted a development thread at this point, Mods may disagree and move it. Since a few people, myself included, need some TouchWiz features and want something closer to a stock rom than Jasmine but debloated, deodexed with the Verizon wifi tether provisioning disabled, I threw this together. I'll try to answer any questions and fix any issues that pop up but I cant make any promises due to work and other projects. If I do move forward with anything I may try to port the stock Verizon Note 4/5, but that's getting ahead of myself.
Now the usual warning about your warranty being voided (as if any Note 3s are under warranty and you didn't void it rooting/flashing recovery) and me not being responsible for you bricking your device because I was stoned when I packaged this.
Download the rom here.
So far the only changes to the stock OF1 are:
Deodexed
Moderatly debloated
Wifi tether provisioning disabled
Start up sound disabled
Rooted*
Busybox added*
*SuperSu and Busybox packages are installed during rom installation.
A list of debloated files can be found here.
Coming soon
Some files were left because they are too integrated into TouchWiz. I don't want people confused by orphaned menu items or get FCs. Some stuff I left because people I know use them. If you want anything back you'll have to get it yourself for now, sorry. I'm open to suggestions on stuff to keep and stuff to remove, but I'll want a good description of their functions before I remove anything. I'm funny about not deleting stuff I don't know what it does.
For those looking for Xposed, I'm using the latest Snapdragon requestConcurrentGC version from here.
Flashing instructions are pretty simple. Boot to TWRP, make a backup, wipe system/data/dalvik/cache, flash the rom and reboot system.
All thanks go to the Yemen rooters and @beaups and @ryanbg for liberating our devices.
thanks i tried it out and its working great! however one of the apps i like is S-Note and you debloated it :/ along with galaxy store. which i cannot find a download source for either, and its needed to reinstall s-note. anyway its a crucial app for the S-pen launcher and s-pen features.
if you could share the apks or upload a full but deodexed superSu/busybox version of this Rom it'd be a real winner.
also im not sure if its just me but i noticed the task manager is a little strange and is missing the ram clear button. ill take a screen shot and upload later

All of the stock apps are in the system.img files in the Stock Odin tar bundles (available from sammobile.com for instance)
The only trick to getting them out of there is that those (system.img) image files are "sparse" ext4 files. The Android development environment has a tool called "simg2img" which allows you to create an uncompressed image file, which can then be mounted as an ext4 filesytem (loopback mount), and you can browse through there and copy out anything you want.
All of this is more convenient to do in a Linux environment (get yourself VirtualBox and install Ubuntu), but there are workarounds using Windows too, and there are even tutorials here on XDA on how to do this both ways. (Use searches for "sparse image" or "simg2img")
An even easier way is to simply pull them out of TWRP backup files of your rooted-stock ROMs; those "system.ext4.win00x" are just tar files. Heck, you could probably even use 7-zip for that.
You do make backups, right?
Ask your devs to do things that are interesting for the dev and difficult for almost any anybody else to do; not the simple stuff like "go get me some freely available files".
as some people like the stock image, you should do a non-debloated version, like beans did for 4.4.2 NC2/4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627 Its just a minor thing, and i can add those apps back in.
How would i enable the startup sound that you disabled?
I'm running the deodexed version of NC4 (with an NC2 bootloader) that i linked above, and finally want to upgrade. I'm assuming that safestrap (which is currently installed) isn't compatible, so do have a link for a version of TWRP that is compatible?
also, can i upgrade from NC4 (with an NC2 bootloader) directly? or is there a step in between that i should do first?

Problems with data
I appreciate all of your hard work. I do have a question though. Every single 5.0 and newer rom I have tried I have problems getting my data to work reliably. I get 4G after reboot but as soon as I send/receive a SMS message it reverts to 3g until the next reboot. This was a clean install and I've also tried reinstalling sim, done factory reset, cleared all data, everything under the sun I can think of. Nobody else seems to have this problem. Any ideas? Other than that this is exactly what I'm looking for.
May I ask somebody create a .tar version to use with odin.
I has no custom recovery .
Tried peazip software to convert .zip to .tar but odin always hangs when i use file
Long time first boot. thoght i made a brick Thanks mate
Quick question. I have kit Kat 4.4.2 with safe strap on mine. How would I be able to upgrade to this?

You have to go to download mode and then use Odin to flash. Unfortunately this does not root the T285.

Yeah the newest version checks for xposed and a bunch of other things. Actually a lot of people were pissed that they did this. You'd probably need to revert back to stock if you want to play. Only systemless root and xposed with magisk works for Pokemon go now.

To FRP unlock you have to go to developer settings and switch oem unlock to false. The stock rom should have it unless you are using a carrier locked version that I a! not aware of.

FRP is specifically designed to prevent flashing if you can't login to the device. You won't be able to flash unless the person has turned off oem unlock beforehand. I am not aware of any method to bypass this on this device.
Also the T280 and T285 have slightly different hardware so using a different recovery image is not recommended. Also since both devices have a locked bootloader, I highly doubt you can even change the recoveries from stock as I would imagine samsung using different keys for both. At the worst case it still always possible to reflash them back to stock if you do want to try

And thank you so much for selling it. I don't speak enough Spanish to make the ordeal of getting one of the T285M's from so america worthwhile. I was planning on sticking with my T239M for awhile, then I saw your T285M on ebay.
I've dirty flashed jedld's T285 debloated rom, then dirty flashed his T285 tinker rom on top of that. Both onto my T285M. Working flawlessly. Wished he'd kept the mail app, but without touchwiz I guess that wasn't possible.
Something else they blocked in the kernel or with SElinux on the T285M is screen mirroring. Can only cast directly from apps.
Still I am happy overall. Now looking for a castrated version of daemonsu!

Now looking for a castrated version of daemonsu!

got another one - white color ...as a gift...God Bless - great device battery life is just incredible - nothing fancy but does its job...keeping this one (had it since early November) gave up on the 705m
Is this ROM compatible with Google Safetynet? I can't seem to log into Pokemon GO since I installed Tinker edition, so I'm thinking to switch to this one instead.
Haven't tried it but it should work.
Is the root part contained in boot.img or in system.img? In other words, when using Heimdall I should flash both system.img and boot.img, isn't it?
I'm getting bootloops with CM13, Omni and I don't know how I got Tinker working, I kind of remember flashing boot.img, then wiping, then flashing system.img, then wiping again.
EDIT: got this one working too by flashing boot.img (Heimdall complains it cannot receive confirmation msg) reboot into download again, then flashing system.img (this time heimdall does reboot the phone). however, pokemon go still wont connect due to google's safetynet compliance.
I'll try flashing recovery in case it is TWRP the one clashing with Safetynet.
PD: I didn't backup stock at the beggining of the process so I'm pretty much screwed with Pokemon until I can afford a new phone. But if someone has a stock ROM for T285MUBU0API2, please ping me.
EDIT2 Got pokemon working. I reinstalled TWRP (this ROM's recovery is the stock one, of course), then flashed unSU. It removed SuperSU binary and Google SafeNet got working again. I can't believe that, after so much hours I've put into finding the best custom ROM for this crappy phone, 95% of the time was spent in trying to get Pokemon GO running. I'm close to 40, FML.

[RECOVERY][MagiskROOT][TWRP]Sprint Galaxy Tab A 10.1 SM-T587P(gtaxlqltespr)QI1 Nougat

This is for the Sprint SM-T587P "gtaxlqltespr" Galaxy Tab A 10.1 variant only.
As far as I can tell, the Nougat update came out for the Sprint Variant sometime around the 20th of September 2017. Update to the T587PVPU1BQI1 Nougat update if you have not already.
1. Read all instructions, there are no known issues. Be on 7.0.0 official. (QI1)
2 Enable Developer Options. Settings, About Device, Software info, tap on build number until it is enabled.
3. Enable OEM unlock and USB Debugging in the Developer Options menu.
There are a couple options here. You can do any combination of the following:
install TWRP
root via superuser (requires installing TWRP)
disable dm-verity (requires installing TWRP)
root by flashing magisk patched bootimage (does not require TWRP)
disable force-encryption (requires installing twrp)(required if you want TWRP to see /data/ files)(not required for flashing zips such as superuser through TWRP)
To install TWRP:
1. Boot into download mode
2. Launch ODIN, Uncheck "Auto Reboot" in the options tab. Flash included TWRP file in the AP section of ODIN.
To Disable Force-Encryption (if want to see /data/ in twrp)
1. Install TWRP recovery
2 Boot into TWRP recovery
3. Format Data
4. Reboot into TWRP from TWRP reboot menu, without rebooting into system.
5. Flash the included superuser.zip to disable force-encryption and dm-verity
To Root via superuser or disable dm-verity
1. Install TWRP recovery.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery
3. flash superuser.zip (this needs to be done with ADB if you have not disabled force-encryption and are unable to see /data/)
Superuser root provided as-is. Magisk is the recommended root. If you prefer the outdated, beta, un-updatable phh superuser binary which breaks safetynet that's all you. However it is the only way i have found to disable dm-verity.
Magisk v16 root:
Device is stock
If you have not installed twrp, disabled dm-verity, or disabled force encryption:
1. Boot into Download Mode
2. Use the AP section of ODIN to install "fe-dm-patched_boot.img.tar"
Disabled dm-verity, but NOT force-encryption
If you did not format DATA in TWRP and have installed superuser.zip using ADB:
1. Boot into Download Mode
2. Use the AP section of ODIN to install "fe-patched_boot.img.tar"
Disabled Both
If you disabled dm-verity AND disabled force-encryption:
1. Boot into Download Mode
2. Use the AP section of ODIN to install "Magiskv16_patched_boot.img.tar"
WIFI IS NOW WORKING AFTER ROOT/BOOT PATCH
Recovery: twrp-3.1.1-0-gtaxlqltespr.tar
phh's Superuser.zip
fe-dm-patched_boot.img.tar

Any updates on WiFi fix?
Flash the latest Supersu beta V2.82 sr4. That should give root and no issues with wifi.
Also note to the author. You should post the device this post refers to as there are several Tab A devices.

I didnt realize the firmware was behind a paywall, the correct link has been posted.
This is a proper root via the magisk patched boot. There is no reason to flash the recovery at all.

Anyone who doesnt read the first post closely enough to locate locate the stock firmware being made to pay for it seems like a form of natural selection. Edit: or that would be the case were this the case, however, i posted the wrong link in the OP ( i had visited a lot to find the firmware, i misremembered which one was correct.)

Should work or does? You're right, there are many tab a variants, and unlike the ones you develop for, this variant is a snapdragon 625. While you say su 2.82 should work, you would also think 2.72 would work. Bootloop. I included a working su to flash standalone that DOES work in my op for people who do not care about systemless magisk, which is the recommended root at any rate.

Or anyone found source code for this model?

Haha, I didn't realize you had to subscribe to your own threads, I didn't know people were even replying in here for weeks. Thank you for attempting to compile, i know there are some tutorials on xda, i'm pretty sure an flashing an SELinux permissive kernel will fix the wifi issue with the magisk root. I do not know that I'll ever have the time or motivation to compile it myself, but I can help to test.
Thanks arlyn! Will definitely be trying this out.
Says root is not properly installled.... any ideas? I followed directions to a T... even flashed back to stock nougat and tried a 2nd time...

LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus T-Mo LG-V530

I know this isn't the correct forum but I've searched and haven't found anything and since this seems to be the closet device I was wondering if there is any development for this device yet or any rooting methods that may work
I looked as well. There does not seem to be any serious develop on the V530. I'm bootloader unlocked but no root or twrp that I could find.

Thanks. I couldn't even get that far. Don't get me wrong it's a nice device but I'm sure a custom ROM would make it fly. Hopefully soon as more people get the device we'll see some development.
First thing first. Bootloader commands must be there.
If so, you just need TWRP
I'd also be very interested in rooting/custom rom for this device, as I moved to it from my Nexus 7 2013 that was very much showing it's age. It's almost painful being on a stock rom from a 3rd party at this point. I've searched through google and nobody seems to be taking much interest in this device. The same was true for the original xperia z tablet and it's got official lineageos support, so I remain hopeful.

I am having problems even booting into bootloader on this thing. I was able to boot into recovery mode but can't get out of the "no commands".
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot bootloader -> just reboots it.
It might be possible to use dirtyc0w exploit to get root access on this tablet.(nvm it seems our android version is already patched for that. )
I too have been able to get the bootloader unlocked but unable to find a version of TWRP or find any rooting tool that supports this device. Still holding out hope but this doesn't seem to be a super popular device :/
Hey guys! I bricked my tab and i need a stock kdz or system, recovery and boot.imgs! Does anyone have or can pull these file for me thanks in advance!
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have rooted mine..if I had the stock system.img could you used that? This is what I did to obtain root..
Download the Lg download utility mode tool '''https://github.com/Lekensteyn/lglaf''
and the sources ''https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/installation.html'
Then open cmd in the folder and execute: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell --cr -c '!S sh' <--- there might be an error message or laf_acess_denied but its okay.
re-enter the command: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell <--- this should open up an interactive shell..enter ls and see if it lists the files on the device then close the interactive shell
run python extract-partitions.py to get the stock boot.bin but change the file extension to .img
push the boot.img to the device, install magisk manager, patch the boot.img, pull img then flash with fastboot
Nice! We finally get root a couple days after a seemingly innocent fall off my bed wrecked my screen :crying:. Deciding on replacing it or getting a MediaPad M5.
tbh I've rooted this device since last month or so but I really didn't have time to make a tutorial
Is anyone able to pull there kdz? My tab is bricked and ive tried LG bridge and all others! Or the the imgs in need to go back to stock! Any help please! Thanks!

Thanks to Vincent_vann I have root. With this I can finally start building a custom TWRP for this tablet. I wish we had a forum for this device. I requested one last year but it still hasn't been made even though it was approved. If I get one built, and there isn't a dedicated forum, I'll post it in this thread.
Just built TWRP. I noticed some folks asking for stock recovery, boot, and system img files. I have recovery and boot img. Not sure where to post these though. Same with twrp. If someone has any reccomendations on how to go about this I'll gladly provide.
I have the Canadian variant (v533) and wouldn't mind giving TWRP a whirl on it. All specs are same so I think it'll work. Don't mind testing if you do get somewhere to post TWRP. Also good job on getting it compiled ?

Thank you! Unfortunately with nougat file based encryption TWRP has issues with decrypting /data after the setup of the tablet. So it's working 50% which is annoying because you'll have to wipe data whenever you want to flash something. Not a big deal for roms, but very inconvenient for other zips. If you still want it let me know and I'll find a place. Else I'll be tackling the decryption issue this weekend.

Looking for custom rom for Ulefone Armor X Oreo 8.1

I am looking for a custom rom, minus the Google stuff, that will work on my Ulefone Armor X Oreo 8.1. I have a working TWRP recovery and have rooted it via Magisk but went back to stock after a few nagging problems.
The phone spec isn't wonderful so need something lighter but still having plenty of functionality.

This specific device and Chipset is fairly new and there's very little on the forum that's specific to your device.
With that stated...
You have a Mediatek MT6739 (64 Bit) device that can be very helpful in that aspect.
Though I had located a few threads that won't be very helpful for you but, the following thread is about the best that your possibly going to find for your device at this point in time.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701283
It does take some time for developments to pop up on the forum for newer Mediatek Chipsets but, where there's a developer (with the same Chipset device), there's always a way depending on the level of difficulty.
I wish you the best of luck with your search!

I'm also looking for that. But if I can get TWRP on it I'd probably try SU.
How did you get to install the TWRP? I found a few posts but was apprehensive about whether I can use SPFT to flash original stock ROM if things go wrong. I suppose that would be the easiest way.
For what I paid for the phone, it's a decent enough device.
Using SD card as internal memory always result in the total capacity being reported wrongly..256GB becomes 512GB with 50% occupied, 200GB becomes 256GB with 64GB occupied. Still waiting for their tech support to reply but unlikely they would.
Cheers!
I have rooted it several times and flashed the stock image several times too without a problem. Haven't used SU though I used Magisk.

I do not have your issue with storage but my wireless charging mat today stopped charging but still lights up. Phone will still charge via cable. Trying to get a replacement mat.
I installed using SP flash tools on windows and Linux just to see the difference.
If you do a Google for Install TWRP ulefone armor x then you will get some information and relevant files.
Unlocking the bootloader via ADB is straightforward on Windows and Linux too. And then relocking it.

Charlie

im also facing the same issue... kindly someone help.. ive explained my issue below:
Can someone confirm? My device is encrypted by default, so whenever i install TWRP it says to decrypt device. I tried the pattern, changed it to password, and pin still my device doesnt decrypt in twrp. I feel its a twrp bug, because when i set the device to ask pattern during boot, the same pattern/pin/password is accepted, but not in twrp.
I want to know 3 things:
1. Are your devices encrypted by default (i dont remember encrypting my device, I dont know how it is encrypted)
2. Are you facing this same issue of entering password when you reboot into recovery?
3. What is the purpose of the boot.img in the twrp zip? am i required to flash it before flashing the recovery, or does it remove encryption?

In the folder containing the TWRP recovery there are 3 files, boot.img, scatter, and recovery. You only flash recovery, you have flashed the boot image, ensure the checkbox is unticked after loading from scatter in SP tools. That is what I think you have done to get that result.
Follow the guide here. I did it a few times before success as I followed a guide from another site.

You ignore the password and change the language to English from Russian. Just don't enter a password at all. The recovery won't stick as Android replaces it when you reboot. After you've completed other steps maybe OEM unlocking then it stays, or so I read somewhere.

All of them are encrypted by default now. The password in TWRP should be ignored and just change the language and select storage etc.

im also facing the same issue... kindly someone help.. ive explained my issue below:

Yes all are encrypted.
Yes I get the same request for password which I ignored and selected language and carried on.
I do not know why boot.img is included it just gets in the way.
After installing TWRP unlocking OEM bootloader and all the rest including rooting it I decided it would be better to wait for a new ROM. All we need is a working TWRP and an unlocked bootloader to flash a new ROM and we have that. It doesn't work very smoothly and I felt it could be better which is why I went back to stock.
When I posted this request I didn't imagine others would try installing Magisk etc, waste of time really as you won't stay with it either. Best wait for a ROM I think.

Im also unlocked and flashed twrp. I ignored the encryption message and proceeded, hit the storage sizes show 0, and neither can i access the storage to flash anything nor can i take backups. can you go to settings>security in your device, and tell me if your encryption says enabled? Tia

Mine is the same encryption is enabled. I select external SD storage and I am shown the contents using the same procedure as yourself, I cannot tell you why this is so. I am using the same technique, same phone, same settings, same TWRP, maybe we have different SD card?
That is all I can think of by way of an explanation. It works perfectly for me. I also made a backup which I can select and restore without a problem.
