Bluetooth playback issues - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I'm experimenting some issues with my OPX while listening to music in Bluetooth.
I have the last update and I use Play Mauic.
1) When i am at the middle of the song and I connect for example, the song starts again on the Bluetooth device whereas on my phone it still display the middle of the song. Like 2:13/3:26 for example. It isn't a big issue but maybe it's linked to the others.
2) randomly, when a song is automatically skipped to the next one, because it has ended, again my player shows that the next song is playing whereas I can't hear anything or sometimes it stutters A LOT, like I can hear one second for each 10 seconds. To fix if I just have to click on "previous" so the song start again and it works flawlessly. This issue happens very often.
Is it a known issue? Is there a fix? I've never seen this kind of issue with other devices ao I'm sure it's because of the OPX.
Thank you.

I got the same issue. It is very annoying. You can also make the title play again by moving the progress slider a little bit back or forward. It happens also with other music players.
Someone answered on my G+ post it happens with headphone jack too. I haven't tried it tho.
I got this problem with my Sennheiser MM100 as well as on my Bose Soundlink 2.

I have also a mini sound link 2.
Buy with my cans it doesn't happen (through jack)
If it's a common problem, let's hope we'll get a fix soon.

I find it crazy that even now there is no fix. It's getting really annoying and 1+ is doing nothing, as well as for the shutters in video playback (on YouTube or Facebook). I'm definitely disappointed and thinking about selling my phone. Did anyone find a fix?

I'm using BlackPlayer, no issues with blueooth playback stutter. Issue 1) is no problem for me, I want to hear the song from start.
No random skips or stutter.

I'm sorry but I don't care the way I should use my phone, I use it as I wish and as I've always done, it's not to OnePlus to dictate me how to use my phone. It's good if you don't care but I do. I don't want to change my habits. However you didn't my problem, it's not about random skips, it just that sometimes there's no more sounds which are casted, so it's a real issue, it's not about the starting over.
Listening to music through bluetooth is just a pain, and the phone is out for months, OnePlus did nothing. That's sad.

I'm on OOS 2.1.3-x and I use Double twist player with no problem over bluetooth. So maybe the problem is Play music

I've never had your 'no more sounds which are casted' issue experince through bluetooth. Are you full stock?

Bluetooth issues
OnePlus 2 is a pretty decent phone, offering good build quality and performance for a reasonable price.
Turn the Bluetooth off and then turn it on back again.
Clear the Bluetooth cache by going to its Settings.
Restart the phone once you have cleared the cache.
Try deleting the old and unused connections and then set up the connection all over again.

Someone tryed Bluetooth playback with the newest 2.2.1 update yet?
Last week Thursday I went back from cm13 to OOS since 2.2.0x "fixed Bluetooth". Well guess what. It didn't. Still the same problem that the next song in line gets mutet after a while of playing music through Bluetooth on my MM100 or Bose Soundlink 2.
Some things I realise:
-Poweramp don't have this issues on OOS since it handles music in an other way. So this might be a workaround for people.
-Play Music or Shuttle+ don't work nice with OOS (I needed to switch songs 27 times in order to make it play again in 6h of playing. That's ridiculous)
-back on CM13 based ROM(and CM13 self) I don't have this kind of problems. Play Music works as it should (guess Shuttle too).
Would be nice to hear if the 250mb big update fixed this bug so I can go back to Stock since I kind of like it.

Hi,
Listening music on my USB/Bluetooth speaker is working like a charm but listening music on my Bluetooth car is impossible (like importing contact and calling)

[Q] Neutrino v2.0 and above audio skipping

Has anyone else experience the same problem where their music would not play smoothly anymore Neutrino v2.0 and v2.1(p)? My music played just fine on v1.4.
I'm using powerAMP and I've already tried increasing the audio buffer and the audio thread priority and neither is fixing the problem. This happens both from the speaker and through the headphone.
I saw a post about this in the main dev thread no one else seemed to have followed up on it =(.

I think it has something to do with the 'Media step' mod, which I deleted from V2.0 onwards so it shouldn't be a problem...
Can you describe in more detail what happens?
The phone runs very smooth in all other aspects, but the audio would hiccup...as if I was listening to CDs that were scratched.
I have had the same experience. I have tried different music programs so it's not app-specific. I've also flashed a different kernel to see if that could be the problem.
I have noticed I do not get the same bugs as on different cm7 ROMs where the speaker wouldn't work at all after unplugging from the car dock so the trade-off's been worth it.
I only experiance this when the phone switches from 3g to H. And the slipping becomes extremely bad when I lose service for a bit. If I go to networks and select 2g only, it seems to somewhat fix it. Until I drop service. Used several different radios with the same result
I'm going a hunch that the tweak to the windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec in the build.prop is somehow interfering - I've edited mine from 150 to 50 and I think it sounds smoother on the speaker but that could just be deceiving. I'll update after I've used it in the car dock on my way home.
-Update-
To I'm sure no one's surprise, this did not work. Music still pops. Maybe once or twice every thirty seconds.
I just tried playing music in airplane mode and the music doesn't skip either with Wi-fi on or off.
Is this problem only with PowerAmp? Does it work fine with other music players?

Every music player. Stock, double twist, poweramp etc. I have tried them all.
Confirmed for me with every music player, not just with powerAMP.
TTT Any fix yet?
I've been looking into this over the weekend. It happens on all media players I've tested:
DoubleTwist
WinAmp
PowerAMP
Stock
Sometimes it is so subtle that you wouldn't noticed if you didn't literally have every nuance of a song memorized. I took logcat logs and marked every "skip" I heard, while playing video games with my headphones on for a few hours this weekend, but nothing stuck out of the logs.
This issue is not in 1.4S, but was in 2.0, 2.1, and still in 2.1P. Sorry I don't have any other useful info.
DK
Will yours skip if in airplane mode? Mine doesn't.
mine actually skips in airplane mode aswell, but rarely...
See if it skips in V2.2...
Bad news...the audio still skips. I'm seeing that it happens often especially when there are changes in reception, like when it's switching between h+ and 3g...
I can happily confirm that setting SeCPU profiles to sleep at max and min @ 456mhz fixes the skipping.
Hmmm, I thought that would hinder the battery saving effects of clocking down. I've been clocking the CPU down to around 216-312 Mhz when my phone is idled.
Usually I'm playing audio on the phone when I'm driving and I have the phone plugged in to the car charger, I'll try to increase the min clock for when the phone is charging and report back.
I don't know if it's worth mentioning again, but with the same setting I have now in V1.4, the audio doesn't skip at all. I'll also test if this is happening with weekly #6 as well.
I realize this is a bit off topic, but seeing as how my issue is audio related I figured I'd give it a shot.
In short, my internal speaker is going in and out. There's no specific instances I'm seeing, but I can say I notice it most when it goes out during a phone call. A couple of times I've noticed a bit of a raspy sound, kind of like a loose speaker wire or skipping cd would make (which leads me to think it's the speaker itself).
That being said, if anyone else is having this issue I'd like to help out as best I can.
I'm on 2.2, btw. Currently running 100% EE, with the CM7 provided Google Apps.
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the intrusion.

[Q] Audio self muting

I love my nexus 10 but it has an annoying habit of self-muting the audio and then not letting me turn the sound back up again (without being switched off/on).
I've searched but no one seems to be mentioning this issue on this hardware (though earlier devices did suffer).
ANyone else seen it? Any thoughts on cause/solution?
I can't say exactly when it happens but earlier today I was listening to music via google play, multi-tasking. then I paused via drop down menu, did other things and later realised it had self muted and wouldn't let me increase volume.
Odd and frustrating.
Cheers all,
Jay
This sometimes happens to me when I play a Netflix film and try to switch to another app.

[Q] Popping sound between songs

So I just got my S5 yesterday, it is all stock unrooted. When listening to music in the car, between songs, there is this popping sound. Not super annoying, but still it's not very pleasant to hear. Also happens when a notification sound goes off in the middle of a song, between the end of the notification sound and when the music starts again. Anyone else have this problem?

Try resetting your phone if it stops the problem, otherwise, try flashing stock firmware, this will not trip your knox. If the issue is not resolved, return the handset for a replacement.

Are you using Bluetooth? Could be an interference somewhere or your volume on the phone is turned up too loud.

Is your phone connected to your car's speaker? Or are you just playing the music over your phone?

I have the same problem. It is not too often, but it does happen every once in a while. I notice it more when connected to car speakers (via cable, no bluetooth). I am not sure if it happens with (regular, no bluetooth) headphones.
My phone is also stock, no root or anything. I've noticed the first time I tried it. I am not sure if I need to return it or not...

It might be the cables. Though I have not experienced this with my phone, my earphones used to have the popping sounds and then one day one side just totally went off only to reconnect occasionally when I move it to a right bendy position, with the poppy sounds. So it might be the cables.
Click, pop, or stutter.

Yes, always happens when using bluetooth over car speaker system. Turning on the screen will stop it from happening. From the information I have found here and on the web, the power saving that samsung wrote to help conserve battery let's the CPU go into a low power state when the phone's screen has been off for a period of time. But if you happen to be streaming music, it will start to skip, pop, or stutter. If you turn the screen on for a short period, don't even have to unlock the lock screen, it will stop misbehaving for the same short period of time. However, if you plug your phone in while driving, you can just leave the screen on and you should not experience the problem. Hope this helps, you can google it for more information.
Pop Issue solved.
I've solved the issue. The reason that it makes a pop sound in between songs, is because when power saving mode is on, it is turning off the speaker in between songs. Just turn off "power saving" mode in your settings pull down on your Samsung, and it won't make a pop sound anymore.

I am encountering the same problem on my Verizon Galaxy S5. There is a popping noise (actually it is a double "pop pop" sound) when switching tracks (occurs in Samsung music player as well as Google Play Music). It's also noticeable when muting/unmuting the phone, and when the phone screen seems to go off. I have disabled power saving features as suggested, but the problem remains.
The problem is not noticeable on headphones (but could be due to the lower volume levels of headphones). It IS noticeable when I use the phone with an AUX cable in my car, and extremely bad on the PA loudspeaker system I use for work (I'm a dance teacher, and have generally used my phone as a music player). This is very annoying, and not what I would expect from Samsung's "flagship" phone.
I did a factory reset as suggested by Samsung tech support. Still have the problem.
I took the phone into Verizon's corporate store in SF, and the Verizon staff member recreated the problem with his own S5 too, suggesting this problem is inherent in all S5s.
What baffles me is the lack of a large number of complaints on message boards and the Samsung support forum. Doesn't anyone use their cell phone to play music at birthday parties, weddings, etc? I would have expected more outcry about this.
Any help appreciated!
Guys I am having the same issue with my S5. It is strange there is not enough complaints on it from people!
I have talked to Samsung about it and they don't believe such a huge bug!
Has any body solved this issue?
popping noise driving me mad on s5!
I have the same problem with a new s5 from 3 network. It's highly annoying and doesn't seem to matter which music player is used, power saver on or off and volume low or high on the phone or external speaker via an auxiliary cable. The same cable might I add I used for months for my S3. This just adds to annoying aspects to the s5 and I'm already looking for alternatives to Samsung even though my contract still has 23 months left! A fix for this is needed and will send the handset back for replacement if I have to!
They're was a setting inside one of the system files you could edit to help with the popping sound. I'll try to find the thread and post it up.
OK thanks. I have reluctantly factory reset and the noise is still there sometimes so others have found reset doesn't work. Will look at settings if you can find the thread.
I can't find it but I know it had to do with the mixer_paths.xml file. I'm just not sure what needed to be edited. I'll keep looking tho.
I'm having the same problem . Only when I skip to the next song and it is only out of the left channel.
Popping sound when skipping songs
Have you tried enabling the equaliser in settings under audio effects, as this has resolved the issue for me.
I have the problem as well. Its freaking ridiculous. I thought it was my music player for the longest time. I don't believe I had the issue when I first got the phone, but I really don't remember. I don't have power saving on and it doesn't happen all the time either. But it only happens at song changes or pause/unpause. I get the same double pop as nathandias described. Its bothering me a ton.
i was thinking it would be nice if people recorded the sound (standard audio cable from phone jack to line-in or mic of a computer)
it would be strange for it to be happening across such varied android versions (start of thread is when 4.4 was used, you can have 6 now with cyanogenmod, 5.1.1 from samsung, etc)
Hi,
I have the same problem, it's really annoying! I cannot understand why not much more people are complaining about this. It shouldn't be a problem in a Smartphone today! My Samsung S III didn't have this issue.
I made a video so you can see what we are talking about: Link deleted Unfortunately, I am not allowed to post a link here. You find it on Youtube entitled "Samsung S5 SM-G900F, popping sound between songs".
Did anyone find a solution? Thank you.
Hi. OP was a while ago! The solution was to use a logitech Bluetooth reciever connected to my 5.1 speaker system. Turns out it stops the annoying noise and for me with my s5 had better and louder sound quality. Well worth the purchase!

Bluetooth Speaker Popping

Loving the phone so far, but I'm sad to say while connected to my Sony x-7s wireless speaker, I hear a Popping sound about every 15-20 seconds.
I jumped over to my old Note 3 and played the exact same file and the distortion vanished, so I know it's the phone.
Anyone else getting this or know of a workaround? Hopefully it can be fixed by an update.

I'm having the same problem with my V10. Tried it on a Bluetooth headset and a Bluetooth speaker. On WiFi and cellular. Problem does not go away.
same here, only difference is that it happens to certain speaker and not the others.
I've tried on 4 different bluetooth speakers that I have, and on one of them it would sound absolutely horrible and distorted. Tested the same speaker with Note 4 and boom beautiful sound.
I'm lucky that the adapter that I use in the car isn't affected.
Bluetooth audio reminds me of the original OG Pro, which sounded like an over compressed files being broadcast over AM Radio. That problem persisted until it got the KitKat update.
I suspect it has something to do with LG overlooking the need to differentiate compression/bitrates for aptX vs non aptX devices. Its definitely a major letdown, but one likely to be fixed.

streaming on my aptx receiver in the car is perfect, it actually sounded a lot better than my note 4. But yeah, on the cheap portable bluetooth speaker...not so much.
I have the Verizon LG V10 and occasionally hear the popping when connected to my Bose Soundlink III, and cheap BT speaker at work and in my truck (2013 Ford F-150). But what is even worse, it randomly "stutters" on all three as well all the time! I noticed today in my truck that every time it stuttered, the "play" and "pause" buttons flashed on the touch screen--kinda like the phone was telling it to pause and then play very quickly.
Anyone else seeing anything like this? Any ideas to fix? Other than this pretty major issue, I am lovin' this phone! Thanks for any help!

The stutter is killing me as well. I have yet to pin point the exact cause to it, but this is quite unacceptable for a hexacore device.
I use poweramp btway, and I've tried increasing the buffer etc to no avail. At first I thought it was only struggling when google map is running in the background, or when the list of apps are full. But I've tried clearing all recent apps, even without anything in the background it still stutters.
I hope someone figures out what's wrong. Coming from note 4, I'm a little disappointed with all of these random quirks that frankly is unacceptable for a flagship device.

My problem occurs with Google Play music streaming as well as downloaded playlists; the stock LG app with the LG that came with the phone and streaming Pandora. And occurs whether connected to my Bose SLIII, my truck or SoundPal speaker at work... I've tried clearing all recent apps, restarting the music app and restarting the phone... none of that works... Very disappointing and sure hope a fix comes out from somewhere soon!

so I finally rooted and hard reset last night. Two things that I've changed now:
-Unchecked the NuPlayer option under developer mode
-Installed Viper4android
so far...no skipping yet!
So maybe you can try unchecking the Nuplayer option to see if it helps. Also, I suspected it could be some other app like AdGuard that I installed before I rooted. I don't have that anymore since I'm back to Xposed.

I spoke too soon, the issues are coming back again now.
I noticed that the audio will start popping when data is flowing. e.g. when a notification is coming in, a text, an incoming whatsapp chat, a movement in map, etc.
this is frustrating.
Google Now Voice Settings
So I had this problem appear about a week ago, and then I tracked down what I changed. Try disabling Bluetooth Headset in the Google now voice settings. I turned it on hoping it would make OK Google detection better with my head unit. It didn't, it just made the audio pop every 3 seconds.
TL;Dr turn off Bluetooth Headset in Google now - voice settings.

Yeah, turns out it only reduced the issue, not removed it. I don't understand why it would suddenly appear for me. Worked fine for 6 months, had the Marshmallow update for a while now. Suddenly one day it starts sounding like crap.

I usually reboot when it gets really bad, then it'll be good for some time before it starts popping like crazy again.
Again, this is not a new issue for LG. It's been reported since the day of G2.
I am having the same issue ATT LG V10 not rooted, Google voice Bluetooth headset settings is off. I have the problem when listening with my jaybird headset or 2016 Honda fit, mostly with Google music and beyond pod whether audio is downloaded or streaming. As a Samsung Note user for many years this is disappointing and debilitating!
I cleared the cache for all apps, and the skipping went away. I'm going to see how long it takes before it comes back.
Yeah, had this issue with my LG G3 and now with this phone. Not sure how LG can continually use poor Bluetooth chips. Other devices work fine but this one pops so often, it's painful using my Bluetooth headphones or speakers. It's sad cause I love the amp on it when listening wired.
Fixed (so far) my Bluetooth problems by disabling (check the box) battery optimization on system apps. My solution post http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/help/marshmallow-blue-tooth-problems-solved-t3409943/page1

DAC skips beggining of songs

Hi,
Recently bought a V30 and enjoying it so far. One of the main reasons I bought the phone was for the audio capabilities it has.
I just got round to loading my music colection onto the phone. On quite a high number of songs when skipping to the next track when the DAC is enabled it seems to skip the first 0.1-0.25 seconds (estimate) of the next song. It doesn't sound like much, but it is so annoying as you miss the first few notes or half a word. As soon as you disable the DAC or play through speakers the problem goes away. The problem also goes away if you get to end of the previous song, it only seems to occur when you hit skip. Is anybody else having this issue or know a way to correct this?
UK V30 (H930), Apps used were Google play and LG music player. All MP3s are 320kbs, tried on multiple different headphones and earbuds (including supplied). I've also tried turning off and on/updating software to no avail.
Cheers, Joe
