Phone Calls Audio Problem - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy S" i9300 and I've been using NeatRom since a long time now, maybe 2 years or more without any issue, but since few weeks I'm having problem with phone calls, I can't hear and they can't hear me, so the speaker and the microphone are not working during call. While if not in a call they work fine, I can record my voice, listen to music...
I've tried many thing, full wipe, flash the latest NeatRom but nothing worked.
I've flashed also the latest stock rom but the issue remain the same.
Any idea please?
Thanks

Flash a stock rom via odin and boot it up. Go to the dialer and press *#0*# for factory test mode.
From there you can test the hardware. Factory test mode is not accessable via custom roms.

Tried that already.
Nothing looks wrong from *#0*#

Then the problem has to be software.

Most likely it is an hardware problem.
Search on google for: samsung i9300 no sound during calls
I have two S3 devices that have the same problem.
Tried factory reset, flash original rom, flash Cyanogenmod (CM11 & CM 13) and flashing modems. Nothing seems to be working.
Some people tried to apply pressure on the Audio IC chip. Maybe you can try this. More information about this can be found here.

Not true. I had this issue and it was software related.
Also, op states "no fault" with factory test mode.

What I said was "Most likely". That doesn't exclude software.

GS3 Freezes after disconnecting from WiFi

I recently flashed CWM onto my uncles GS3 and rooted his current rom. I made a backup and then tried out a new AOSP rom, which we decided not to keep because my uncle did not like it. But now, returning to the old rooted stock rom, every time the phone disconnects from wifi, it completely freezes up on the lock screen. Pressing the lock button does not shut off the screen and instead just locks it. You are unable to unlock it as the phone completely freezes up. The only way to get into the phone is to double tap home to get into the voice commands, and then go to home from there.
But even after that the phone continues to freeze. I tried another ROM on his phone today, but the problem still persisted a while later. It all happens when the phone is connected to wifi, and you walk out of range. After which the phone starts to freeze up.
I'm totally unsure whats going on. I just flashed the rom again, and we are trying a clean slate with no restoring of any data. It may have started to happen after we installed root browser (just as a guess), but we could be completely wrong.
If this continues again on this rom as well (which is Revolution HD) Im going to go back to completely stock (rom & recovery), and hope it still doesn't persist there. If not then I am out of options, and I have no clue what to do.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. We spent so many hours today trying to resolve this.
Thanks!
Usualy WiFi problems are kernel related. Have you tried Siyah or another custom kernel?
If this will not help than returning to stock with all wipes is the best idea, this should resolve your problem. If not, than you can try to reset router or set static IP for s3. Also try to remove WiFi setting for your home network in the phone and set it again manualy or via WPS mode.

Thanks for the reply. This issue has been occurring between two different roms, so can the kernal still be an issue? Its happened with the absolute stock rom (w/ root) and Android HD Revolution.
My uncle said he would play around with the phone and let me know if it freezes again by tomorrow. If it does im going to wipe and stock.
Can anyone show me where to get the stock roms for the i9300?
I've downloaded and tried 3 different ones, but the phone never manages to boot up!

Same problem on Galaxy Note N7000, did your problem resolve by reverting back to stock because I've tried every possible option, to no avail?

Go into recovery and wipe the cache, I believe that was my problem.

[Q] Camera Failed - Error when trying to check camera firmware

Hi, i have a Galaxy S3 GT-19300 with a faulty camera. "Camera failed" error when i try to access it.
When i try to check the Camera Firmware via *#34971539#, i get a black screen with a grey bar at the top which says "Camerafirmware standard" , below this there no information whatsoever. After a second or two i receive a message stating "Unfortunately, factory test has stopped". The phone has never been rooted and the problem existed prior to updating to 4.3.
I've tried the following.
Clear Camera Cache
Clear partition Cache and restore phone - have restored a number of times
Reseated ribbon connector for camera
Cleared files in \Phone\Android\data\com.sec.android.gallery3d\cache (I've read this can help)
At this stage i'm not sure what to do. Does anyone know why there might not be any information displayed when trying to check the Cameras firmware? Any help would be greatly appeciated.
Baseband:I9300XXUGMK6
Build JSS15J.I9300XXUGMK6
Running Android Version 4.3
Do a full wipe and flash the latest stock firmware with odin. If still the same then it's a hardware fault.

Will give this a go. Thank you
No luck unfortunately, flashed successfully however the problem remains. Both front and rear cam fail in diagnostic menu so im guessing this is a motherboard fault as all other areas have been ruled out.
Same probelem

If you have the same problem then read the op it is most likely a motherboard fault (physical fault not software) it will need to go to be repaired:silly:

[Q] Is my phone dying?

Hey Guys,
I use a stable 10.1.3 CM since a year on my S2. Lately the camera started to quit qorking: "can't connect to camera".
About this time the torch (LED app) app did the same thing: "unfortunately torch has stopped".
What I did: do a full data/cache/dalvik cache erase: factory reset.
The camera/torch still malfunctioning.
Then flashed the last nightly CM: cm11-20140429, but still no luck.
Then reflashed the old stable version, maybe if it'll work, but noooo.
Do you have any suggestion to resolve this issue? My phone is 2 years old, never had a problem with it. Until now.
Shall I flash something via Odin?
Is there a "deeper" way to rewrite the camera/LED firmware/code/whatever?
(I was wondering if flashing these 2 CM versions the appropiate firmware's aren't rewritten)
Thanks in advance for the replies!
you can try more ROMs. However, there is a possibility that its a hardware issue.
The camera stopped working on my galaxy S1 after a factory reset.
I never did get it working again, and I tried about 4 different camera firmwares, flashing back to stock, and replaced the camera module too. Nothing worked.

Sorry to hear that.
I'm wondering now to replace the camera module as well.
I quickly tried this 3 ROM: aosb_kk_1.3.6_i9100, omni-4.4.4-20140728-i9100-NIGHTLY, Slim-i9100-4.4.2.build.5-OFFICIAL-4068, but with the same disappointig result: no camera, no LED.
If I first start LED/torch isntead of camera, the LED sometimes flashes:
I switch on, but nothing happens. Then switch it off: after a few sec delay the button will show the "off" state, and during this process the LED flashes for 1 sec.
I will try to revert to stock with odin, maybe...
The camera module is very easy to change. All you have to do is unplug it and plug a new one in.
You might be luckier than me.

Yes, but what if the same thing will appear? Ie. I'll change the camera module, but won't work.
Isn't there an easier way to check if surely the camera moduled is dead?
Btw I downgraded it to stock ROM via Odin, but camera still dead, so it is probably not a software error. :crying:
There's no way of telling if your camera module is broken without putting a new one in.
It didn't fix it for me though. And believe me when I say I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.
Ok then.
Thank you very much for the support!

P9000 Cyanogenmod Stable 5 Microphone&Speaker NOT working

Hey,
so I recently got the P9000 and I am very happy with it in General. There is just one big Problem, I am very used to Cyanogenmod on all my devices so I tried installing it in this phone, everything worked fine except for the microphone and the Speaker, Calls go through but I cant talk neither hear anything. Everytime I Start the phone it also says AudioFX was shut down. I also Tried listening to music or any sound for that matter but nothing works. I then installed the Stock ROM and everything works like a charm so I can rule out a Hardware issue. But the Stock ROM is just not cutting it for me in terms oft usability and options and I would much rather switch back to CM. Tried it again yesterday, clean install and everything, Microphone and Speaker are not working.... Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Any help greatly appreciated.

First of all thank you for the tip, in the meantime I installed Android 7 beta to have a look at it. Is there any way to go back to Stock ROM on Android 6 so I can install CM13 Final Build 3? I have tried flashing Recovery and STOCK ROM via SP Flash but it won`t work. I click Download, connect the phone while pressing the Vol+ and it says Downloading, goes up to 100% but the red bar is still there, then nothing happens. Every Flash of Stock or CM Recovery I did before that worked just fine so I guess it has something to do with Android 7. If there is no way I guess I`ll stick with Android 7 for now but I´d rather switch to CM.
There is a way...it has to do with the Android...it changes the preloader and the boot partition. Take this file from deepflex: https://yadi.sk/d/40K4mWLauUddk and flash with sp-tools. Finally flash the TWRP-Recovery from Jonny with flashtools. At the end do a full wipe and install the cm13.1 (Final 3) and the opengaaps.
Got it to work, I used a slightly different approach but right now I am finally installing CM13 Final Build 3, lets see if it works out fine! Thanks again for your help :good::good:

Microphone Problem in Android 11

Hi there
Since I updated my MI A3 to Android 11 the microphone sometimes doesn't record voices !
( I reset and flashed my phone so many times but didn't solve )
Upppppp
If you flashed stock with miflash... Probably the problem is hardware. I have flashed many stock and custom a11 firmware. And my microphone work well. A question. When you reflashed stock rom... You have changed the active slot? All updates are installed on slot b. So if want to make a good clean istallation... In my opinion is better set active slot to a via fastboot before flash. Try this. Also you can try a custom stable rom with oss drivers. But is important to make a good installation. Or the software problems may not be solved
Recently after owning a new car that is my first using Bluetooth handsfree option, I discovered this issue.
It seems the mic got somehow "stuck" to the car when I leave it, as the phone's normal mic then is okay. Just when trying to use the phone's handsfree mic in a call oder video calling in signal or hangouts it doesnt work. Even recording videos using the camera app is fine, but any handsfree option for any communication does not work.
Restarting the device or restarting bluetooth does not work. Somehow the phone recovers after sometime. When, why and how I do not know.
It definitely breaks down again once reconnected to the car.
with other bt devices have same problem?
Sadly I don't have any other bt device that is handsfree mic capable, I just own a speaker that is connected every now and then - it was my first idea to recover it by connecting to another bt device (the said speaker), but it does not work. Of course, the speaker is not connected using the same bt variant, the icon in the phone's settings is different.
mmmm... for this issue, the solution are: try delete all bt connection. if dont work try install latest software update. if dont work the definitive solution is wipe data and make a new clean installation. i suggest do this via miflash
