Note 5 trade question - Nexus 6P General

So I ended up giving a relative my nexus 6 for christmas and got a good deal on a new note 5. While this thing is super fast and i like it...i just miss stock lol. Is there anywhere legit that actually does trading? Id love to find someone that would trade my note 5 for the 6p, but i know xda doesnt do that anymore and I dont think swappa officially supports it either?

Per the forum rules, buying, selling and trading are not allowed.

Should I get the Note now or wait?

Hey Guys! I'm currently using an iPhone 4 and I am eligible for an upgrade with AT&T immediately. I am basically dead-set on getting the Samsung Note. It looks amazing and I'm a big fan of the huge screen (ex dell streak user!).
My question is: should I go ahead and do the upgrade now or wait for the price to drop? If I were to upgrade now it would cost me ~$300 not including taxes, etc. That price seems high to me. I know it's a great phone and everything but the prices are bound to drop, just like every other great phone before the note.
Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!
You could try to get it for $150 through Best Buy by following the trick in that other thread.
Specifically, follow this link:
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/deals/linkshare-savings.jsp?partner=LinkShare&siteId=dZCX6Je2w8Q-sBG3oO9zQ5oOdYyuLQ44IA
Then select "New to ATT", add the note to your cart, add any plan and data plan, then go to check out. A $150 discount should be shown in the cart. Print out the cart, then go to Best Buy and say you would rather buy the phone in store and bring your business to them, and have them try to price match. It's worth a shot, though it may not work.

I will tell you my story. 4 months ago I had an upgrade available and bought the GS2. Loved the phone but my wife's phone died so I returned it and got her an iPhone. At the time I was thinking I would just buy the S2 cheaper in 4 months. Fast forward, the S2 is half the price yet I am going to spend more to get the note.
Moral of the story, get what you want now because something better will be out later.
Exactly get your device and enjoy it now. There will always be something new around the corner in android land.
I agree, get what you want now. If you wait till the price drops then another phone will be announced that you will end up wanting. Especially since MWC is happening this week.

I couldn't agree more, get what you want now. In my opinion this is the best phone I've ever owned.
If you're not signing on as a new customer...or not adding a line to an account...it's better to wait for the Note to drop further in price. Amazon currently sells it for $250 for all customers....which is still a rip-off considering there's no ICS yet for Note.
But I can understand if you currently only have 1 phone that is 'hanging by a thread'...then might as will make the purchase now.

I loved my Samsung Captivate, but the Note is my new love affair.
Whirling around fine on stock right now, but keeping my eyes on the dev threads.
Seeing all of these posts today around HTC and the new One X coming to AT&T had me bumming a little with the mad specs, but then I remembered I have a 5.3 inch HD screen.

Very unhappy with the G

At first glance I fell in love with this device. Its sleek, has an amazing screen, beautiful design and very fast. Also has a okay camera (prefer my s3 way more). So whats not to love? Well after 9 days and mixing it up between devices my G now has a dead pixel, shuts off and is sluggish. I have no idea why because the phone has never been dropped or exposed to any kid of water. So needless to say I called AT&T and because I am within my 14 day period they are exchanging it even for a New Titanium Galaxy Note 2. Really wish it worked out, loved the phone. So you can catch me me back in the sammy forums for now, still might get another OG.

In most cases the issues of one does not represent the issues of many. Nevertheless, enjoy your Note II.
Cool story bro. Thanks for letting us know. Have a nice day.
No matter how good of quality a device is known for... there is always a bad batch that comes off the assembly line.
This applies to cars, phones, electronics, any consumer product...
I think that in this case, you are one of the unlucky few who got on one from the crap stack.

In now way am I bashing or downing the OG. I would have gladly accepted another G in return. As a matter of fact I miss having it, I thought it was a great phone. BUT when I called AT&T and they offered a new Titanium Note 2 as the replacement why would I decline it. Especially if it dsent cost me anything. Like saying " I'm sorry sir that your new Honda Accord is a lemon, would you like this new Corvette for the replacement". Who is going to say no. Not only that but I wanted the note 2, havent had one before. And for the smartass who said " look at all his devices" If you had know that a majority of the android phones were bought and donated to the developers of those devices and that I am sorry I can afford to get the new phones when they come out. Get off my nuts bro dont be jeleous.

Definitely not "jeleous" about your English vocabulary.
Have fun in the Samsung forums with your ohsoridiculous amount of money. Hope you find less things to complain about with the Note 2 instead of making pointless posts on their subforum as well.
So they replaced a $100 contract phone with a $300 contract phone? Also, not jealous about the devices you have and have had as well as on your nuts about it, as it was a simple statement, that was a nervous assumption on your own, because you're in a corner defending yourself. I'm having fun feeding you as well, due to you being an obvious troll since you've provided nothing informative by making this topic.

Only plus side is that it will have much more development support.

I just sold it, that's it I got tired of waiting for the devs's this phone is top, but will never get support because of LG stupid way of handling advertisements.
They make the phone and its like they don't want to sell it. Stupid LG will never buy form them.

Goodbye....but not quite...

Folks,
The time has come to jump into the NOTE 2 world for me.
I've enjoyed the past year+ here, and will be heading over to the new section tomorrow night.
However, I'm expecting to visit here often, and continue to support the note 1 community as well, as I have unfinished work inside of the super thread.
Promises made should not be broken. And our Korean note users, along with many new ATT users, are here to stay.
As such, our "K" note users will get a section broken out for their specific work, and our ATT group will continue to see additions and changes geared toward ATT support as well.
The OGnote is far from dead as you can see by the level of hits to our section, and by the shear number of notes being supplied to new or former users.
So no goodbye today, only a heads up that I'm working in 2 different sections, to help in any way possible.
Thanks all !!, and I'll see ya in the forums.....g

I would have thought the same thing, but it seems we have a lot of new note 1 users moving around out there. In fact, as I was talking to ATT a few days ago, their site manager told me they are still seeing the note 1 as a strong mover in the upper end cell phone line. And this does not account for any devices outside of those regions, or in other Countries.
(was changing my contracts for 12 business lines)...
Most of those units are refurbs now, but they are getting into the hands of new users, at a much better price point than the original $700.00, for those just wanting a better device without a new contract or extension. Not to mention the raw sales of used devices sold at market being turned on through ATT. And oddly enough, She told me that the note 1 is still being produced as a new device. This would explain my new note that arrived only days ago. (not a refurb)...
So who knows, we may see plenty of action here over the next year...at least I hope we do. Our members and developers have done an amazing job of providing vast amounts of code for the note 1 group. and it would be a shame to see it go to waste.
But of course I understand that nothing is forever, and this device, like all others will eventually fade away. Albeit, kicking and screaming the whole way. After all, it is the first of it's kind, and is still no slouch in the cell phone world.....g

You will....I love the note 1...It just kicks butt over so many things.
And the true beauty of the note 1, is it's ability to just keep going after all of the abuse it gets.
I'm a little nervous going with the 2, as I'm reading horror stories about the screen being weak, and a few other items that don't excite me all that much.
My plan was to sell this new note 1 I just got, but I may hang onto it for a bit, just in case this note 2 doesn't work out, or has issues.
I'm not even going to root it for the next 30 days, or until I'm satisfied about it's ability to handle the abuse.
They don't even have a flash counter reset available yet, that persists through a re-boot. So it's got a fair distance to go before it has the freedom of the note 1 that we enjoy here.
But know this. I'm a bit sentimental, and am already missing this fine group of users and friends. Yourself included..Thank you for being a member of this great forum..g

Guys this is my two cents worth. Purchase your note 7 supplies like cases etc... at a discount price. Wait a few weeks and get the new fixed Note 7 most likely at a discounted price. If the note 7 never comes back then returned the goodies no problem.

Makes absolutely no sense.
Of course it does you think people are gojg to purchase note 7 full price after a massive recal for a major safety issue like going up in flames. No way some incentives are needed to get people back. You will see.
Makes no sense, this also goes to show whats wrong with this generation of entitlement. Samsung does not owe us any type of compensation for what has happened with the Note 7. Stuff happens. If they just so happen to feel generous then so be it but other than that be happy with your phone or go else ware.
hey, think, think, you really believe samsung is going to sell note 7 a the price of a second rate device? come on, be serious
We will see ......I like Samsung and I wiill get one no matter what, I have s Note 3 now but lets face Note 7 for the mass consumer its pretty much dead. It blows up dude that is not jst an antenna problem. It will take a pretty heavy dutty propaganda campaign to turn the tide on this one. Samsung will offer incentives how much its any ones guess but right now you can get cases etc for it at a pretty low price. Check Amazon.

The Note 7 recall could change how the public sees Samsung smartphones, and that is arguably the biggest challenge that the company is facing right now.

I disagree.
They have put consumers in danger and for some caused injuries and damage. I would say that goes beyond "stuff happens".
For others whose devices have not exploded (like mine) it has certainly cause differing levels of stress and nervousness having the device not knowing if or when it will pop. Im a pretty chill guy but Id be lying if I said it didnt worry me at this point when i charge device. And this whole ordeal has changed how I use my device day to day which is not acceptable.
Then there is samsung asking for everyone to power down the devices and use what exactly in place of it? Not everyone is fortunate to have multiple devices lying around.
Then there is the train wreck of a recall...ive signed up for it and called numerous times and none of the CSRs knows anything and all give different answers which then causes more stress and uneasiness as you have no clue whats going on and clearly neither do they.
Oh and they expect us to drive and drop the defective devices off at drop points. Easy enough for some not for others...me personally im not lifting a finger to drop my old one off anywhere...i have better things to do. You want it...come and pick it up...you screwed it up in the first place.
Then theres the issue of going on an airplane with it...not even going to go there.
Oh yeah.. what about those of us who spent $50+ for ghost armour or similiar things front and back? Of course i have to pay for it AGAIN when i get my new device...whenever the hell that may be. Thats also not acceptable, samsung should be paying for it.
So yeah....your damn straight they owe us, the people who pre ordered and do so every single year and buy multiple samsung devices each year for many years all outright. And in the Note 7s case If I pay $1200 for a device i damn sure do not expect it to blow up in my face...literally
I am the least self entitled person and anyone here who knows me knows thats true but im this case yes I am expecting compensation from samsung for this major screw up.
Stuff happens this is true, but if it was that minor would the US and CAN governments be involved? Highly unlikely.

This will absolutely change the publics opinion and trust in samsung....to a massive degree.
Its not the recall thats going to cost them its the loss of trust from the public which equals lost current sales and future sales and in the long run market share. Their market share has already droppef and it will get worse before it gets better.
They will need to bend over backwards with incentives and freebees to get people back to where we were in buying samung products.
This goes well beyond mobile as well...dont think for a second this wont hurt their other areas of interest..TVs,appliances etc

I still think once they fix it it wil be cheaper to get one or there will be great incentives.

I believe the Note 7 its pretty much a done deal. Only people like us that really want the phone will purchase one. Main stream I believe the note 7 missed the station long time ago. On the other hand even died hards like us dont like to give our money away. I have been searching and I will consider something like the moto z force if the price of the Note 7 remains the same. Remember its on a no fly list and will take a while to be removed if ever. Note 7 its a tainted phone untill the day it dies. Its sad but in reality , the bad perception out there will not change.

Note 7 OFFICIALLY DISCONTINUED at this point...

The phone has been permanently discontinued now, and Samsung has to find a way to replace ALL Note 7s. So I guess this will be a run on the stores. Hopefully people can get other replacement devices, but I have no doubt there will be those that just wont give up the phone. Good luck on rolling the dice with your safety.

Mine's already on swappa. Will have to lower the price and accept trades at this point. I just want it gone this has been the worst experience of my life. Is it a great phone? Absolutely. But the lack of proper QA testing is a direct result of these issues.
I was hoping to do a trade for the pixel and that's not happening which is a shame

I was also tired of all the drama with the Note 7. I swapped my Note 7 for the s7 edge yesterday since the major carriers are letting you because of the phone exploding on the plane incident. So far so good, I think it's a lot smoother than the Note 7 just sucks not having the S-Pen but oh well.

I had the S7 Edge already, and I don't want to cough up more money for a phone that I already had and sold at a major loss.
Since I can't get behind the Pixel hype, it's time I go back to Apple. Samsung needs to reprioritize. I'm done getting screwed by them.

ultimately, I think the V20 is a nice phone. But certainly just cant touch the Note 7 in terms of overall features and quality. Its a tough decision. I would tell people to just get a dumb phone for cash and have them refund the difference. I mean, nothing attractive will be out between now and the next upgrade cycle I think.

I don't have a link, but I called at&t, and they have stopped all sales and exchanges, and many sources are reporting that Samsung has shut down manufacturing of the Note 7.
Such a sad day.

We all know that while they conduct their investigation. Doesn't mean global recall and note 7 will never see the light of day again.

A recall seems far more likely at this point than the thing going on sale to new customers. Ever since the recall was issued, new customers have not been able to buy one. And only for a little under 3 weeks have people been able to exchange their faulty ones for "safe" ones.
I'm unfortunately done with the Note 7. I tried every front to try to give Samsung my money. They just won't take it.

"Ever since the recall was issued, new customers have not been able to buy one." That's not true, I bought an AT&T N7 from Best Buy's online
store and received it last Tuesday.
I thought they resumed sales like over a week ago.
Here is the story from gsmarena.

Here is the latest from theverge

Samsung stated that they will move forward with whatever the cpsc recommends. Which most likely is going to be a full discontinue of the product and issuing similar product replacements or refunds for returned devices. I doubt they will be forced to do much more than that. And tbh they are a massive Corp, they won't give people more than probably a 20$ gift card for their troubles. They have no incentive I think to lose even more money.
What I'm curious about though is if they will begin remote wiping phones in order to get them all returned. It's pretty easy to do on their end. I doubt the CPSC will allow the devices to be out in the wild if it's determined a design flaw.
And btw all outlets have halted or have been instructed by the cpsc to halt sales of the Note 7. Some of them permanently like ATT.

Then you were one of the lucky ones. I haven't been able to from any site or store.
This sounds like a gossip site now smh.. Note 7 is in reduced production while investigating.. Not stopped.. & note 7 firmware is still getting developed. US sales are suspended till more clarity is made of the current events... Plz stop making a mountain out of mohill..... Now back to your regular scheduled programming
Directly from Samsung's Press/media website:
"We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.
We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available."

So there you go. Even if production is supposedly not fully halted (at least the battery construction portion is for sure), you cant get the device anywhere. So it really doesnt matter. I do however think its entirely irresponsible to put yourself and your family members at risk with the device simply because you dont believe Samsung's "gossip". If you or your loved ones are injured by the device then its basically your own fault at this point. Whats further disturbing to me is that people are actually trying to circumvent the safety precaution update on ORIGINAL Note 7 devices?!? Like wtf?! Do you really want to have the thing blow up? Idk, I dont mean to be argumentative or dismissive in any way but I think its a bit ignorant to push aside the fact that there may be a design fault in the phone itself. Plus, Im sure most of us can swing $20-30 for a temp phone while this blows over. Of which an ATT rep - in store - told me they would refund the full value, along with all the accessories I bought for my Note.
