Blocked Data - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay. I will be the first to admit I did something stupid, and I am not smart enough to fix it myself, if in fact it is even fixable. So, I used Odin to root my Galaxy S6. That isn't the problem. I went to youtube and watched a video on to install another program that would help me in a game. Problem is I followed the instructions, and ended up blocking data usage. I am getting texts. But, I can not use google play store to get games or anything because of this, nor can I use the internet. Regardless if I am connected through wifi. Or, maybe the wifi isn't even working? In the video it wanted me to download root explorer. Well, I did that. It then stated to delete the file "hosts" or, just zip it. I chose to zip it, that way I could get back to it and use it later if something happened. Problem is, I accidentally deleted root explorer when deleting other apps. Now I can not get the zipped file to unzip where it needs to unzip for it to work. I have a feeling this is why my data stuff is NOT working properly. I tripped knox, which I am not happy about, but hey that was again my stupidity and now it's too late. I just want to be able to get my phone back in working order, if possible. Please, anyone able to help?

You post at wrong place, anyway download from Internet with your pc a root Explorer (they are plenty) copy to your phone go to settings at your phone where it says "security" check "unknown sources" install the root explorer from the file and go to root, system, etc unzip the host file and set permissions to rw,r,r 644. Hosts are necessary for your Internet connection. If you haven't the host file download from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098
unzip it and copy to root system etc and set permissions to rw,r,r 644 also. Reboot and everything will be OK.

Cant open the Android Files on the SD Card ?

Hai!
So I just copied the Android Froyo files directly onto my SD card, and when I try to open them on my HTC HD2 I recieve an error that the file cant be opened and I should try to reinstall it.
Any help ?
Bai!
When you unzip the downloaded zipped file on your PC, you should end up with an android folder. It's that folder that you need in the root of your SD.
It's detailed very clearly how to install and run Android on every single build page that I've read. You should start where you downloaded it from.

I did that, same error.
Anyonez ?
Please
We're not mind readers. What exactly did you do and what was the error?
ALright:
- I copied the folder to my SD Card on the HD2.
- I go to 'Start' -> File explorer -> And then I select the audio file thing and after that the file to start the Android itself.
When I do the last step, I get an error that says:
The file "CLRCAD/HARET" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.."
Search for sdkcerts and install that on your phone. That should fix your problem.
Sent from my iPhone 5 beta using the XDA App
Does it matter where I extract the file to ?
Do I have to put it on my SD card or on my HD2 program files ?
THANKS!
Tried both locations, getting an error while installing the .cab:
'Installation of SdkCerts.cab has failed.'

Make your own topic please.
So what point I am at:
- I copied the Android folder to my SD Card on the HD2.
- I go to 'Start' -> File explorer -> And then I select the audio file thing and after that the file to start the Android itself.
When I do the last step, I get an error that says:

-------------------
Then this person told me to download a .cab that would fix all the problems, and when I wanted to install it I got the error:
'Installation of SdkCerts.cab has failed.'
--------------------
And now I dont have a CLUE what to do! Lol
I am guessing you are running a stock windows mobile rom? You need to either run a custom rom or find "Advanced Configuration Tool" and install it so you can enable the rom to run all unsigned applications. Then you can run the android apps to boot it.
It is in the misc. section. More info: http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/advanced-configuration-tool.html
Uhm, where can I find a custom ROM :$?
I tried that Advanced Config, but when I try to run it on my phone it just gives me the error:
The file "AdvancedConfig" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.."
**** it, I will just peform a hard reset
Making a back-up of my contacts at this moment.
Peformed a Hard-Reset and the Android and all other files are working FKING GREAT!
Love you guys!
If you get that problem again, you should install an app called "bsb tweaks" (or a similar app) and set it to "allow unsigned"
this should allow you to install things that you couldnt before...........
Glad you got it sorted.
Thanks, John, for helping me out!

[Q] [HELP!!] Deleted some odex, now no more apk installer

Was trying to install some APK manually then i got a "LOW STORAGE SPACE" warning. Check online, was 'guided' to delete some .odex file.
I think i deleted some wrong files but I can't remember which. After deleting the .odex, I was able to install the APK I wanted to install.
But now, which is few hours later with a few reboot done to my phone. I can't use Google Play (getting error 406), I can't manually install APK which I transferred from my notebook. When I try to open the APK file (and few others which previously worked) via Root Explorer or File Commander both apps return the similar warning, somethings that says "there are no apps capable of opening this kind of file"
Any help here?

with out the name of the files you deleted you cant get it to work
so simply reflash the rom

[Q] Apps Crashing after enabling native tethering

EDIT: Will move this thread to the Galaxy S4 troubleshooting forum. Please don't hesitate to reply or contact me if you happen to figure this one out though.
Hello,
I am using a Sprint Galaxy S4 on stock 4.4.2. I recently set out to enable native tethering so I can have 4g on my tablet. After looking around a little I found the odex and jar for my device/version (NAE) and used TowelRoot to get root access. After copying over the services.jar and services.odex files I found that any time I install a new app it will crash when I try to open it. Also, when I try to change R/W permissions in ES File Explorer it crashes now.
I installed the jar and odex by simply copying them to the system/framework folder per a QBKing77 guide. Another guide had suggested installing using goomanager but I quickly found that it was discontinued. I considered using Flashify but ended up just using QBKing's method since it was quicker and required no extra app.
Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm happy to provide additional information if it gets us closer to a fix.
Just a little update... I can provide the error report every app gives if it is helpful. Also root access was removed somehow and towelroot does not reactivate it. Some apps have limited write capability (ES File Explorer, games) but others randomly have no write ability (Box will not copy files to my phone nor its SD Card).
Any ideas? Since I lost my root access I can't try restoring the old services.jar, .odex as Framework is on lockdown again.

[Q] Workaround for inability to install apps from Gear Manager?

Hi -- Per another thread, some of us are getting hangs when we try to install anything from the Galaxy Gear app store using Gear manager. Obviously, the best solution would be a fix for that. However, in the meantime, I thought maybe I could find some .wgt files and install them with sdb.
Aside from the fact that even the sdb connection seems a bit flakey, the bigger issue is that the .wgt apps I can find get rejected because they are not properly signed (for the S or whatever). I don't see a way I can turn of the signing verification (so nice of Samsung to provide watch software with so many bugs but then make sure and protect us from trying to actually make use of the device some other way).
Does anyone have a workaround for this? I've also tried to see if I can crack open an .apk from the Gear store to get the .wgt I assume is inside, but even after I've got a Gear S app "hung" on "Installing..." I don't see a .apk anywhere on my phone (S4) file system. It seems like there should be some way to put various pieces together to install apps other than with the official, but broken, way. Any ideas would be appreciated!
I have my Gear S running with an HTC One, and also can't install directly from Gear Manager. I can find the .wgt file in my /system/data/data/com.android.samsung.galaxyapps (or something like that) / files folder, then install it via USB cable with "sdb install [file].wgt".

Bill -- I was hoping I could do that, but I can't find any .wgt files (I've searched pretty thoroughly using ES Explorer). I don't know if the Galaxy Gear App process doesn't even get far enough to create them? I tried a couple .wgt files for other Gear units I found on the web, but when I sdb them they fail with certificate errors. If you (or someone) can post a .wgt that is known to work with the Gear S that I can try to sideload, that'd be appreciated (or if someone has another way I can to to get the .wgt files from the apps I'm trying to download using Galaxy Apps.

You have to rename or move the the .wgt file while Galaxy Apps is hanging on "Installing..." before it fails. When it fails it will remove the file.
To avoid the certificate signing issue, create a new project in the Tizen Developer Tools IDE, change the file extension of the given .wgt to to .zip, and copy the contents of the zip (asside from the certificate xml files) into the new Tizen project and build to the watch. No more signing error.
You can do the same to APK files, just change them to .zip to extract the .wgt file embedded inside of them.

That's what I've been trying to do, but I'm not finding the .wgt even during that Window of time. Doing a search with ES Explorer doesn't find anything, so I think maybe I have to know exactly what directory Galaxy Apps places things in. But I don't have a System/data/data (like you mentioned you do), and I can't seem to figure out where in the FS the temp files might be. [I'm running KangaKat 8.1, which is 4.4.4., in case that provides any ideas]. I'll keep looking around!
PS Thanks for the suggestion on the Cert. That should be helpful as well.

Your phone will have to be rooted to access that folder.

Ahh, thanks. My phone is definitely rooted (that's likely why all the problems with gear in the first place), but the Root settings got turned off for Explorer at some point. It also appears that my equivalent folder is under "/data/data/..." instead of under /system, but in any case once I turened on the root switch it was easy to find. Now to try to load some widgets! Thanks again!

That worked. I was able to get Opera Mini & an Alarm app installed. Thanks! I haven't figured out how to get Watch Styler themes over, so I need to read up more on how it works.

Just wonder how you accessed these folders once you are rooted and where you got the apps from?

I followed the instructions in the post further up the thread from Oleyb about snagging the .wgt file while the install was running.
Thanks for the reply...unfortunately my gear s is standalone so I don't have access to the Galaxy store :/. The watch would have been so much better if Samsung would have I clouded this on the watch itself....let's hope a dev or modded can one day figure that out...thanks again!

How do you know what files are the certificate files? And do you have to do anything else after deleting the certificates before building to the watch? Thanks in advance!
Sorry to post this here couldn't find any other threads to post it on is there any way to play youtube on the gear s I have the tmobile version

Gallery issue

Not sure when it started, but if I download any image from any browser (chrome, FF, Opera, etc) whether on WiFi or not, it doesn't end up in my gallery/download folder. It is if I browse my files with any file browser (the one pre installed, or any at the play store). I download images at work because we don't have internet access and I was able to connect my phone and get them to the computer via windows explorer. Now, nothing. I know they exist because of the above mentioned file browsing within the phone.
I can get them to show up if I reboot the phone. --Annoying.
or run media.Re.Scan (from the play store). --Shouldn't need another app to do what it should do by itself and what it used to do.
I've looked for the .NOMEDIA files on internal/external memory and removed where necessary.
Cleared the cache/data/force stop/disable/re-enable for the gallery and media storage
Removed all photos/songs/videos from the phone in case there might have been a corrupt file and deleted the folders.
Nothing works but the two listed above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't recall installing any new apps of late so I don't know what caused it.
edit: not rooted. bone stock.
