Can't get passed log in screen - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK my son's moto e got shut off during an update and then would not boot up completely. I assumed a factory reset or manually flash the latest update would fix this. Well I got it to bit up now, but I cannot seem to get passed entering his gmail address and password then it goes right back to the Motorola terms and conditions page, and then back to the log in page.
I am not a complete noob when it comes to flashing and what not, but I am at a loss here.

Skip the setup wizard sign in and just let it set up, then go to settings/accounts and add his Google account. I've seen this before.

[Q] Skip MotoBlur Registration

Is there any way to skip past the MotoBlur registration? I just picked up my Atrix and powered it on. Since I don't plan to ever use MotoBlur once I have the phone rooted, how can I get past the MotoBlur registration screen without registering?
You can't skip it, but I did notice it is an added security feature.
Anytime you swap out SIM cards, it will ask for your email and password on bootup. You phone is basically unusable until you enter the info correctly.

That's all Android phones from what I understand. I know my Craptivate wouldn't open any Google apps without providing credentials, but the rest of the onboard memory and such was still accessible.
Try the four corner touch like on the og droid

Yes please, I need to know to. I just got mine and I don't want this crap registration. Can the previous poster elaborate on the procedure? Thanks!
You could just give it an email address that doesn't exist, and set a password you'll never remember. For the record, I didn't like having to register a motoblur account either.

That's on Bell Atrix, AFAIK. You must do the key sequence on AT&T's Atrix.
You Don't Need To Register for Updates either...

Atrix doesnt get past MotoBlur setup

ok so I reset to factory settings to wipe my phone clean. I booted back up when it was finished and it takes me to the motoblur account setup. I try to use my login but when i click next nothing happens. I try to setup new account, click confirm nothing happens. I bypass the motoblur and it bots to my homescreen, but then automaticallly opens yahoo.com and my home and back buttons dont work. WTF is going on???
can somebody please help, I booted past motoblur but now I guess theres no launcher installed, how can i view all of my apps instead of a blank screen
can you sideload still? Is it in development mode? If you so you could still a launcher via adb.
it was stuck in the motoblur account setup, att gave me a brand new one for free so I guess thread closed!

[Q] gmail app nightmare

Well been doing some playing today - learning how to root then trying a couple of roms all with success.
However i noticed that when i wanted to use gtalk / gmail etc it keeps saying my password / username does not match ?
The weird thing is i log into my account as per normal on my PC and username / password is fine.
I checked my mobile settings in my account and the correct device is listed.
Also same issue trying to access the market place - does not match, so now i cannot install any apps through the market
Even done a factory reset but no go.
Any ideas guys ?
thx

will do - thx
Well a re - flash did not work.
Also did another system reset - did not work ,.
But all is well ! What i did in the end was change my password online with my PC and turned off that 2 step verification method. Signed in with my Phone and -
Its all working again.
Dont know why it stopped in the first place though.
Haha!
sorry I have to laugh. If your using 2 step verification then your standard gmail password will not work on any third party applications including your android phone. You have to go to setting on your google account (on a pc) and tell it to authorise a new application, remove any you have already for your phone, and add a new one.
It generates a one-off use 15 character password. You need to do this each time you flash a new rom if your using 2-step.

I don't have this problem, and have never had it, but you've sparked my curiosity since I've never heard of that. I assume it's an optional method of authenticating your google account, but that's obviously a guess.
I've had a look at my google account settings and can't see anything that appears relevant. Where are the settings for this?

[Q] Is this a known issue - Resolved - This issue is not a syncing issue

I am wondering if this is a know issue or possibly a bug with CM7. Today I was messing with settings and I turned off the syncing setting. After doing this I got a google voice error. I then turned syncing back on, but still got error. I went to the market and tried to do a update and kept getting the -101 error (which from what I could find is a know error code). To resolve it as explained in the xda forum was to remove google account and sign back into gapps. Well the only way to remove your account is to reformat and start from square one. If this is a known issue, then I guess this post will be good for newbs like me as something not to do EVER. If not maybe it is something that can be resolved by the devs so not to happen. So far this is the only issue I have found, this after setting up 5 NT's for co-workers so I have tested and messed with a lot of setting.
Update: I found that this issue was not caused by disabling syncing on device. Coincendence of time of issue. Issue is caused by basically taking a CWM backup from one NT and restoring to another NT which is essentially a clone copy. When wifi is turned on to both devices is when the error occurs and I am thinking is a naming convention issue. If a resolution is found I will update the post. Thanks go to those that helped me by making me keep testing until I actually found the root issue.

Not allowed --- "This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the setting application, under privacy."
Trust me if it were that easy I would not have posted. Thanks for the response though.
if the above mentioned doesn't work just delete accounts.db and reboot
hard reset your phone by settings , privacy options .
then reconfigure your phone .
"if the above mentioned doesn't work just delete accounts.db and reboot"
I tried to to the delete accounts.db method and as soon as I launched market it created the account and the save issue was still present. I still had to do the hard reset and reconfigure as stated below.

That is what I did do. However, the question is, is this a known isssue with all android devices if you disable sync that you have to hard reset your device and reconfigure or is it a glitch with cm7. I have never had a android device before so I can't test it to see if this is just how it is.
Thanks.
Now that I think about it more, if you were trying to delete the only (last?) account on the device it makes sense to make you reset. The first thing you must do when booting up is add an account ... if you want to delete the only account, it makes sense that the device would need to be restored to "out of the box" (so to speak) condition.
Perhaps what one could try is adding a second account, deleting the first, readding the first, and deleting the second (optional).

I did have 2 accounts and it doesn't give you an option when you reformat, it just wipes. Trust me I tried to do anything to avoid having to reset everything. What I didn't understand is after formatting why I could not restore my backup. I tried and same error. I had a backup off another NT I setup for a friend it worked fine. I really don't know I just know that at no point should anyone ever, never ever, turn sync off or you will be spending half the day setting your tablet up again.

Hmm ... why don't you post the exact steps you took. I'm willing to attempt this to see what happens, but I want to know exactly what you did.
Sort of related to this. I changed my Gmail password and now none of the Gapps work on the NT. When I open the Market it asks me to add an account but the window closes. Same thing happens in Gmail.
I installed NT HIdden Settings but I dont see the option to add or change the Google Account.
Any ideas?

Issue now has been duplicated and I know exactly what I did to cause the error. It has nothing to do with changing the sync setting on the device. It was just coincendance that it appeared at that time. I have been setting up multiple devices for friends of mine. A couple of the like how my device was setup so to save time, I loaded cm7 on their device and then using my backup made from cwm I used that to restore to their device and I had a exact clone. I deleted the acounts.db, cleared data setting on market app and rebooted and everything work, until, turning on wifi to both devices. Bam error occurs, which I assume is do to matching naming convention/mac addressing. The funny thing is whatever device is turned on first crashes and the other stays running normally. And you are right deleting accounts.db and clearing data on market worked to restore once I figured out what was happening. The other day I had left the other device wifi on the whole time so every time that I did the delete it would just fail again until I did the reformat. So after saying all this I will ask you (I sent Celtic a PM explaing issue) is there a way to give a somewhat cloned device a unique name so not to cause a conflict. I see under development that there is a device name, but I would not know how to go about changing correctly.
Thanks for the help so far. That is what I guess for trying to take shortcuts when working on so many NT at the same time. I also have a NC that I am also working on. Good experience I guess.

No setup wizard!

No setup wizard, so no possibility to migrate from old phone using the "Copy accounts and data from device" in Google setup.
Usually, when one do a factory reset, the phone starts with the setup wizard, which gives the possibility to copy content from another phone with the same Google account.
Any suggestions on how to make the setup wizard show up after a factory reset?
Tried adding ro.setupwizard.mode = ENABLED to the build.prop, but that made no difference:crying:

No. I'm just generally disappointed by the product. Elephone don't deliver on their promises. Eg. small bezels was hyped to only 1.6 mm but the phone I received has bezels in the order of 2.5 to 3 mm

OP, are you rooted?
If so, use titanium backup to backup your old phone then copy the content of your old phone to the new phone (copy SD CARD)
Then download titanium backup from the play store and hit restore
I backed up everything manually as even with the setup wizard you don't get app data back for most stuff. I used App Backup & Restore for saving the apks for all the apps I wanted to keep, any apps with data I wanted e.g. Tasker I used its own backup feature then restored it after reinstall, used SMS backup & restore for all SMS & call logs, gallery was already backed up to my google account so was restored along with contacts when I added the account, although I did also have them available on a PC as well. Once the account was added & I'd opened the play store it then went on it's merry way updating any apps that required it. Really wasn't that much of a hardship but I regularly backup so maybe I'm just used to it.
