I'm having this problem, is really annoying sometimes when I try to play videos on YouTube it says "There was a problem while playing. Touch to retry" I have to reboot my phone every single time that this happens, I don't know why, it's getting really annoying, what can I do?

I have the same problem.
suddenly, the camera stops working, and I get a message saying something like "the camera is in use by another application" message. and not in use by any application, or use a camera app third.
at the same time when the camera fails, if I put youtube I have the same error message, as if it had network, and you can not load the videos.
to me obliged to restart the terminal.
my phone is a compact Z5, yellow, it appears in the box 2.1 review.
bootloader currently open, had the installation stock, and to try to solve the problem I did a clean install of the latest version .200, with their wipes.
but the problem has resurfaced ...
any ideas?
Thank you, and happy holidays

I have the same camera problem. Also can't play videos on Twitter, either. It happens after a while, but the only solution I have found is to restart the device. Anyway it appears again after some time. It's really frustrating. I hope to find a solution to fix this. I'm in the latest firmware version. 200 and have an unlocked bootloader. Hope Sony fixes this in a future update. I'm waiting for a custom Rom also just to see if this problem disappears, but is a new device so I guess I'll have to wait. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
Thanks, Happy holidays! [emoji2]

I can also confirm both of those problems, both YouTube and camera. I also have unlocked bootloader and I'm running .152 currently. Really.. REALLY annoying. I can also confirm that the streaming problem doesn't only affect YouTube, but some other apps too, for example video streaming on Relay for Reddit or Facebook videos.
I'm running stock (locked bootloader) and I have the problem with the Youtube app. In my case, it happens with specific videos. I thought the problem was just the site being weird, but looks like that's not it.

Yeah, it also happens on other apps, like twitter, everytime I try to play a video it says "content not available" as I said the only solution I've found is restart the device, but after some time, the problem comes back again. It's really annoying because I have to restart the device every time. But for now I'm using Chrome to play Youtube videos. Another problem I have is that I can't add chrome bookmarks on desktop, it shows empty even though i have many bookmarks (including Youtube) , so I have to open Chrome app and then access Youtube. Hope the marshmallow update fix all this. Because it's really frustrating

I was getting the YouTube issue on every video, but clearing the phone's cache (fastboot erase cache) seems to have solved it.

Thanks for this reply. I'll try wiping the cache tomorrow and will report back if it fixes the problem for me.
My cousin has the same issue on Z3 Compact, after updating to Lollipop. On Kitkat it was fine. So it's certainly not device specific.

Can you do this with an locked bootloader? A bit funny though, since we did a factory reset, which would erase the cache partition.

I see, no there's no difference. I presume it has to do something with the system, then just being easily fixable with clearing cache.

Sadly, it didn't work for me. The problem is still there. I really hope this gets fixed in the Marschmallow update, I hate that I have to keep rebooting my phone.
problem still persists. sigh.
This is good news for me, I rooted mine the day I got it and thought it was ad blocker hanging up or something. I have to restart a few times a day to get by it.
The accessing sim notification is the worst though. That I wish I could fix.
Has anyone been experiencing this with the MM?
I can't recall this happening for about two weeks now.
Option to fix temporary

The youtube problem I fixed deleting the app and installed an old version.
The problem with the camera what I did was, I installed MM, and I used the official Kernel to root but I didnt install the Xposed.
I hope it helps you guys.

I'm experiencing this with MM update (currently .182). Can't open youtube videos, take movies with camera, or use creative effects / sweep panorama etc. Reboot helps just for a while.
EDIT:
I discovered that problem with creative effects / sweep panorama is unrelated to video problems. After restart I can watch youtube videos and make movies with camera, but creative effects or any app related with taking photos doesn't work. Its interesting because 4k and Timeshift Video works. Any clues? Maybe i disabled too much preloaded apps, who knows.
I see that this thread hasn't been that active lately. Are you still experiencing this because I am, and it's pissing me off.

yup, I recently moved up to marshmallow and its still there. Ive tried every youtube version known to man and it still happens. I have to reboot so many times a day its ridiculous.
edit: I have noticed its linked to all video playback on the device, snapchat videos do not work without a reboot either.

The camera app on my Droid DNA crashes whenever I open it or another application that uses the camera. I am currently running CyanogenMod (11-20140405-SNAPSHOT-M5-dlx), however it behaved the same way on the stock ROM (4.1.1 and 4.2.2). When this first happened, it would work for about a week, then not work for a week. But now it seems to permanently not be working. I am wondering whether this would be a hardware issue, or if there is something software related that needs fixed. I should also add that the front camera works just fine. I will attach system and kernel logs too. They are filtered to show anything with the word "cam" present. They are in the .docx format because they're color-coded, but plaint .txt files will be there also.

I just open any application that uses the rear camera, it sits for about 5-10 seconds, and then that application crashes.
I had this when I flashed to the M5 snap from the M4 as well. Clearing the cache from the camera app fixed it for me.

Hmm...Well, this is taking it a micro-step further, and you've probably already tried this: Along with cache, clear the data. Try force stopping the app first, clearing the cache, then the data, in that order. It shouldn't erase your pictures, but as a precaution I'd back them up first.
Maybe even reflashing the M5 snapshot after that, if that doesn't work, would be worth a shot.
Hearing that you've had problems with the camera on the stock rom though makes me feel uneasy lol...it could be faulty hardware at that point.

Still not working. I am almost convinced that it is hardware related, but before I buy a new sensor, I'll hold out for Android 4.4.3 (the next rumored release in a week or two) as this release will supposedly have many bug fixes. That's probably the last step before I call it a hardware issue.

Before calling it a hardware problem, I would try a clean flash of the latest CM nightly and if it still happens to post logs.

When you say clean flash do you mean not restoring any apps, etc?
If you have nothing but the ROM and gapps installed and it does this (the logs agree with you that not much happened for 6 seconds then the camera stopped) then it is possibly a hardware problem.

I've tried safe mode, and the problem still exists. To my understanding, this is the same as a clean install because only system and gapps are allowed to run.
I have been using youtube app on kitkat 4.4.2. Then i upgraded to 5.0.2 and now whenever I open any video on youtube app... I get the error.
" connection to server lost..... touch to retry"
I dont know of any permanent fix but usually a reboot fixes it.
Typically ive found pausing a video before closing the app seems to prevent it from happening as often :/
Go in Developer Settings and DISABLE "use NuPlayer". Worked perfectly for me.

Same problem My son has the same smartphone and same version 5.0.2 and no issues. Both are rooted. Everything works fine after reboot and after few hours doesn't work YouTube app, video recording and video playback in stock video player app...
Same here. After couple of times when launching YouTube the error appears. I didn't try the camera, but going to YouTube via browser (except opera) also gives an error. Maybe Google will fix it someday.....

Hey all, I seem to be having an issue with the Pandora app. It is an app I use heavily, which it crashing is driving me bonkers.
Here's what happens. I open the app and it stays open until it starts to play/load music. The moment the artist information shows up the app closes itself. I had flashed the debloat script and rooted the phone. Then I disabled swap and of course, installed all my apps. Later I noticed the Pandora app crashing problem. I figured it was probably something the debloat script removed that I might have needed so I recovered to stock and only restored root. Low and behold, Pandora worked fine. I spent an hour or two listening and reading a book. I paused it so I could prepare for bed and when I hit play, it crashed again. Tried rebooting the phone, clearing the apps cache/data and reinstalling. Nothing seems to work. The app is set as a protected app in the settings. Also, I have the KIW-L24(USA) model.
tldr: Read the title
Hoping someone has some hints they could throw my way. It seems curious that the app would work for a few hours then only stop working after I paused and then hit play again. If anyone has any advice, please shoot it my way.
What software build do you have? This issue was previously reported, but it should be fixed by now. Also, what version is the Pandora app?

Build number: KIW-L24C567B140
Pandora: version 6.9.2 (I have Pandora One, just in the off chance that would matter?)
I just cleared the app cache, deleted the app data, uninstalled, then booted into twrp, cleared the dalvik cache and rebooted (as I stated in the first post, I had done this all before). It now seems to be working. If it begins to crash a third time, I'll update.
And it started crashing again. I may have found the culprit. Everything was kosher until I allowed notifications. When I did the app crashed, with near instant crashes there on. Shut off notifications for Pandora in settings and it works like a charm.
Edit: I can repeat this issue by enabling/disabling notifications. A bit annoying, bit at least the app works.

I'm using an unofficial build uploaded by bandit development. It works fine and everything runs very smoothly. The only things that don't work are the fingerprint reader, the back camera, and the back flash.
I use Google Photos as my default photo app. Whenever I tap something -
1. image is loaded
2. half second
3. boosted/corrected image is loaded
It's rather annoying, especially when I'm on Display > Image Quality Settings > Standard mode.
I also have Auto Creator Mode off.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Yes is happening to me, just tried. Didn't notice before because I use album app. It's really weird and annoying
Right, thanks for letting me know. It's apparently a bug in Google Photos itself. Not a phone issue.
I sent a mail to the google support, but well, it's really weird since after reinstalling the app, it does well for some times and then the bug appears out of nowhere.
Can confirm it's definitely the app. Revert back to the previous version, and the issue no longer exists.
Thanks guys, it's definitely a pain but very obvious
