All,
Just got Verizon to upgrade me to the Motorola Droid....So I am selling both of my Eris'. They are both rooted, running TazzFroyo, and one comes with a pink case, the other with a black case. They are both only a couple of months old, have chargers, and the 8GB Memory cards. Looking for $225 for both!! Email me at [email protected]

Just checked Verizon's Trade In website...$132 a piece.
I just checked it they are still offering $132 a phone.....so $264 for both
Last I checked it was $40. Maybe there is demand again for replacements. Why wouldn't you do that? Can't you use those gift cards to pay your Verizon bill?
Long story short.......I dont pay for service, or for phones really

So why don't you sell them and give the money to your parents since it sounds like they bought them
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
Parents didnt buy them....I have friends in high places at verizon......military discount takes care of pretty much the rest of the bill....thanks for chiming in with your great knowledge though
So this is why my Verizon bill is so high.. free phones for the "high up's" friends. Seems like the right thing to do is to return them or donate them to a battered womens shelter.
$101 each cash (well, check) at http://www.securetradein.com/.
Or, there's not profiting off something you apparently didn't pay for in the first place and doing a good thing for less fortunate fellow servicemembers: http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/
Excuse me if I'm out of line here but why is everyone giving ssgtob1 such a hard way to go for trying to sell his "old" cell phones? Who cares if he got them for free or not? That's his business. I've gotten phones for free in the recent past and ended up selling them. I am in no place to turn down "free" money that is legally obtained. I barely make ends meet as it is.
Don't judge someone you hardly know over the internet, or try to guilt him into doing something that wasn't his idea. I know he doesn't need any help from me, but I just don't understand people's reactions.
Sounds like people are just mad that he got phones for free that he has the opportunity to sell for some $$$ now.

Oh, I was in the military a long time ago, FYI.
Yea trying to sell stuff on XDA doesnt work, try and Craigslist and eBay OP....

Interestingly, the secure trade in page comes up the 2 results for Eris. One is $101 and the other is $58. Given that they are only giving $130something for an Incredible, I would assume the real price is $58.

I'll second that. The maturity level here is worse than my son's first grade class sometimes.
I was just wondering if it is worth it to throw in another $90 for a 2-year warranty?? I had an HTC aria for less than a year out of which 4 months were with a broken display..all these new touch phones look really fragile, any advice whether I should go for the warranty or not??
No, just get the Verizon insurance ($100 for a brand new phone, no matter what you did to it.)

I actually got the GSM version unlocked to be able to use it on At&t, but overall am confused whether it deserves another $90 or not..I mean if I would compare $100 at verizon or $90 at Square trade for 2 years..I would go with S.T. They are really awesome..but is any of them worth it anyway???
Thanks for ur help
For each option you need to add all the costs including any monthly fee and deductible. Then ask yourself if you think it likely you'll need to file a claim and how much it would cost you to buy your phone at whatever age it will then be used if you don't have insurance. Remember too how close you might be to your next upgrade. No one can make that risk assessment like you.
I like ST but the price I see quoted for 2y on an Android phone is $124 and there is a $99 deductible. That's a better deal than I figured from VZW (after including monthly fees and deductible) but for me, it's not worth it. I have a case and rarely break anything. It could happen, but unless it happens pretty soon into a new contract, I'd be better off to get a used or cheap replacement until my next contract.
But to each his own.
I think it really boils down to one question: How many phones have you destroyed in your cell carrying career?
If the answer is more than one, sounds like Square Trade is yoir best bet for an unlocked phone!

That was well said..really! I got am $89 when I clicked through an e-mail I had since am already a customer with ST, but I 4got the $99 deductible. Putting that into consideration with the $90 it is almost $200 which is near to any new phone on the next upgrade! I think I'll pass..thanks 4 the advice.

I had like 6 phones, out of which 4 were smart phones(some older generations of course..not really "smart" ! ) only the last htc's display got broken, which I later found was common with this specific model "htc Aria" since the display has no plastic margin surrounding, and protecting, it.
I guess I'll pass ST!
Thanks
Just for the record..I ended up buying the ST warranty off Amazon for $100 after a coupon code & $50 deductible instead of $99, that was after reading some reviews about how the phone display broke with some people...not many but enough to make me buy the warranty...am not lucky with electronics & probably it will happen with me as well...just saying!

Or however long before Big Red forces all of us into tiered plans.
For existing customers, Amazon has the Galaxy Nexus for $150. (50 bucks cheaper than Verizon)
For NEW customers, the Nexus goes for $50.

Well it looks like if I did that, I would need to make changes to my contract. Early termination fee, blah blah blah, etc. If I did it without contract changes it would be $649. So
I just read that since the Galaxy Nexus does not have removable storage the phone does not have USB mass storage. It instead uses MTP.
From what I've read, it seems like data transfer is slower with MTP and you cannot connect it to devices that read stored mp3's through things like Ford Sync (in cars). Also, the phone cannot just sync to photo software? I'm guessing to update and sort out which photos are new?
Does anyone have any information on the MTP vs. UMS?
As much as I detested everyone else leaving the X2 and leaving us behind, I really don't want to be stuck with this phone. Even though there are phone comparison topics found throughout various threads, maybe it would be best if there was one thread dedicated to users looking to share info on phones for comparison sake.
I will also say, $150 just looks so much better than $200 (especially since I have $50 gift card).

Maybe I'm taking the early termination fee thing out of context. I think its just warning you about the fee if you cancel after 14 days. But I'm not eligible for an upgrade until April of next year. This would be a contract extension but would amazon or Verizon allow it?

no they wouldnt allow that. they want you to buy if for $650 or have to pay the early termination which is insane.
Eh dont panic about the Nexus not being there. It is reasonably priced at $200 w/2yr and that price can only go down. Granted, that decrease will take some time but the point is the phone is amazing and worth paying that extra money.
FWIW, Nitro and Ace just started developing for the Bionic, so if youre poor like me and your phone is physically dying, a *free* 4G device sounds pretty darn good

Hopefully Assurion, Verizon's insurance company, has run out of stock for the X2s and you can get something better.

I'm confident that if and when my physical buttons fall out, Verizon won't hesitate to replace the device. I believe the warranty clause covers physical damages/failures fully.

If you want to keep your unlimited data and extend it for two years, upgrade now.
If you use that upgrade after July 7, you'll lose your unlimited plan and be dropped down to a 2gb of data limit per month for the same price your paying now for unlimited.
Btw if your holding out for the incred 4g, the rezound is better

Hey guys I have been waiting on the 32GB s4 but nothing. Yesterday I decided to get the 16gb (9gb). I told the guy I was doing the payment plan and I wanted the white version. Well after almost an hour and a half I start walking out the door and look at the box and is the black version. So I walk back in and tell him hey you have me the wrong one. So after 30 minutes they tell me they are going to have to do a full refund and do everything again. So first they didn't know how to do the device payment plan then I get the wrong storage size, and I was there for 2 hours. I told them I had to leave that I would be back today.
But it gets better.
I'm at my bother in laws wedding shower and I look at my phone, and guess what? I don't have Internet connection. I then keep trying to connect to 4g or 3g, airplane mode on and off, reboot. And still no data then I try to call and I already knew those idiots turned my sim card off, and yep no voice either. So I used my wife's phone to call Verizon they turn it back on and got a $20 credit to my account.
Wish me luck today.

Jeez sorry to hear that
I will wait for the 32gb myself. My S3 32gb affords that perspective though. I think the forums in a few months will have the same vibe as the storage starved G1 days. Back then, apps and games averaged a LOT smaller than now, so does correlate.
I thought crap like that only happened to me - Makes you want to go back and ring some necks!
I had a similar situation. I was told on the phone there was managers approval for early upgrade for me on my account after speaking to a rep over the phone. I was told I can simply go to the store and get it. So i sold my current phone the same day went to the store the next (since it was too late) and there were no remarks or anything. I had to buy it retail price.
Well after an hour they got me the white version. An as I'm getting in the car I get emails and text messages telling me I've used over 50% of my data. I'm like those brilliant people Took unlimited off. So walk back in and yep that's what happen. They told me to leave and they would call when it was fixed. Ten minutes later it was. Went on and called verizon and filed a complaint about them.

People that complain when they do their job wrong and show multiple levels of incompetence, causing an inconvenience to the very customers they were employed to service?

You mean you're not willing to forgive somebody for a mistake? Do you know the complete situation? Was the situation not rectified and the customer compensated for their precious time? Was it necessary to complain and potentially threaten someones job just because they were inconvenienced? Did you ever think that maybe it was one of their first times on the sales floor or maybe they were just having a bad day? If nothing was done or the customer wasn't compensated then I would understand the complaint but furthering the matter was unnecessary. They very well may depend on that job to support a family but just because this person was slightly inconvenienced that family may not have the money they need. Have you ever worked a customer service job? My guess would be no only because I feel you would be a little more forgiving. I'm not saying it's not a bad situation but maybe you should put things in perspective and think about the person on the other side of the counter. The stress from just dealing with the situation was in my opinion punishment enough and I'm sure the manager provided his own disciplinary actions to the rep. Maybe you should try not being such a ****?

Wow. Someone must really hate their job.
First of all, I never said I would have complained, I just understand the reasoning behind the complaint. I have worked many jobs in customer service, and have had a few complaints against me for things I had no control of. As long as the situation was made whole, I personally would not have filed a complaint.
Maybe you shouldn't be such a drama queen. I don't know many people that aren't working to support their family or themselves. If a single complaint gets them fired, my heart goes out to them. They have channels for complaints, because they would like to hear them. It is how a company can grow and fix policies.
The $20 were given by the call center rep. And it was for them cutting my line. The store did nothing they didn't seem to care until I mention that this was getting ridiculous then they started saying sorry about this. And I told them I didn't want my plan changed in any way and guess what they did twice.

I bought off-contract for $680 and they switched my number from my GNex to the S4. They also gave me a new SIM. I asked why I couldn't just use the old one and they said the new SIM has NFC built in. Then I had to sit there and listen to a 5 minute explanation on what NFC is and how to use it -- sorry I asked!
The guy was also dumb-founded that I didnt want to take the discount and switch from unlimited to the 2GB plan. He even asked me what did I do for a living!
Heh, every time I need to go to vzw I cringe. Its always a big ordeal. I don't understand what is so difficult. I mean these people do this for a living. I can buy my phone from their website and activate it when I get it with a total invested time of about 10 minutes. Sucks to wait for delivery though haha.

WOW. You sound like you are the "behind the counter" guy who makes repeat and often mistakes, and to correct your lack of understanding, it's not his responsibility to "be more understanding" as you put it. When one is paid to do a job and evidently this wasn't one CSR making a mistake, but several with no manager intervention then it is the responsibility of the MOD to fix the problem, not give 20$ and his poor experience brushed under a rug. I would bet that 20 didn't cover the gas for the trips he made to the location and had the MOD actually stepped in and rectified it and not this guy just left to the incompetence of several minimum wage making CSR, then he most likely would not have needed the 20$ and left satisfied from the get go.
Mistakes are one thing, gross incompetence, lack of customer care and poor management is quite another.
And before you run your mouth, I oversee 18 retail locations and employ over 100 people so I'm quite familiar with both sides of the counter.
And the MOD is the one at fault, not common CSR who normally are either part time or kids nor is the customer at fault because if you had a customer service job like you claim he does not then you'd know the customer is ALWAYS right.
Period.
WOW! They gave you a credit?! They NEVER give me anything for their screwups! "Sorry sir... Have a nice day!"

The stress from just dealing with the situation was in my opinion punishment enough and I'm sure the manager provided his own disciplinary actions to the rep. Maybe you should try not being such a ****?

The point is, these people are paid to do their jobs correctly. If they screw something up for us as customers, we're highly inconvenienced. The object of customer service is that the customer is always right. Giving someone a mere $20 credit for all of the time and experiences wasted and missed because of this isn't going to make up for the fact that he didn't have a working phone for multiple hours. He's well within his right to be as upset as he is with the staff.
Man there are a few vzw corp stores I have been too that sounds like this in the Northern VA area. I picked up the S4 this past Saturday and it took about 40 minutes in total for everything. That was me even talking with them about Android and different devices. All in all was a pretty smooth visit. I do hate how they try and push you off your grandfathered unlimited data plan at every chance they get (I understand it is the VZW overlord making them do it though.) and pushing crappy screen protectors and overprices cases at you.
Really wish VZW would have done the 32GB version though. It is sad that they think 16GB is good enough.
Poorly trained CS and TS in any company is bad IMO. It is the Manager or higher ups fault on that and it should not be an inconvenience to the customer at all.

Ouch -- My whole time in-store was about 30 minutes, which included new phone setup. I will admit, it was almost empty due to a major thunderstorm passing through.
Hello,
I didn't see anything in the rules section against this, but if it is against the rules I apologize in advance.
Since every other carrier is charging $299.99 for the Note 3 and Sprint it charging $349.99 I was hoping that we could petition Sprint to lower the price down to everyone elses level. I'm hoping that if I get enough people behind this a lot of people can save some money.
https://www.change.org/petitions/sprint-lower-the-2-year-contract-price-of-the-samsung-galaxy-note-3-to-299-99-like-other-carriers#
Thank you for looking and sorry if you disagree with me, I'm just a person trying to try not to get ripped off. If anyone on here has a reason for me as to why they are charging more for it than other carriers, please post it, but please post facts and have proof to back it up. Everyone gave me reasons on Sprints facebook page but no one wants to post any facts to back it up.
I am not on Sprint and never will be anytime soon but I signed it for you anyway
Good petition, promotes positive competition for us as consumers

Thanks for signing it. Apparently everyone else doesn't care how much they pay for a phone however.
Signed bro... as I said on the petition this is one of MANY reasons I switched over to T-Mobile, which actually is offering the N3 for $199 btw.
So much for all carriers are offering it for $299 eh?

That's 199 up front and $21 a month for 2 years! 21x24 is $504 plus the $199.99 up front and that's $703.99 over the two years.
Cool Petition though, I hope it gets you somewhere! **Signed**
Signed it for you as well, going to be ditching these guys soon anyway. Good luck.
Since when has a petition REALLY done anything in a situation like this?
If you really look at it, Sprint is not really any cheaper than verizon anyway.
voice-data coverage and speed once you do get data..
Sprint does offer unlimited data, but its more expensive than any other carrier for like 1% of
the coverage of any other carrier, and when you finally do find data its terribly slow.
Also, if you just wait a few weeks you can probably get it much much cheaper..
Signed. Thanks op

I'm in the UK and this will have no effect over here, however, I've still signed it. Hope the price comes down following this petition.
I'm on AT&T, but I can understand wanting the same price as others. Signed.
Signed it as I want the N3 soon.
I have never seen so many people worked up over $50 before. You'd think it was a bank breaker the way some of you guys are whining and threatening to switch to T-Mobile, which actually turns out to be full retail price if you know math.
I understand you want it to be the same across carriers, I get it. That would be ideal, but seriously guys, it's $50, not $100. Sprint won't care how many people sign this petition.

What's more fascinating is that people fall for it! And upgrade twice a year, when ever you want. But what happens to the balance from your last phone?? Yeah pay it off or your bills goes UP!

For some folks it the principle of the situation. For some others, they have no discernable arithmetic skills what so ever.
Yeah T-mobile I am bashing you....

I understand that, but when you think about how Sprint is the cheapest carrier out of the 4, their pricing strategy suddenly starts to make sense. I'd rather pay a lower monthly bill and have them continue to undercut the competition at the expense of $50 added to a contract phone than to have the phones be the same price across the board with higher monthly bills. They have to make money somehow. You can't continue stay competitive and lose out every quarter. That's stupid business.

Of course,
I am a Sprint customer as well, the $50 pricing discrepancy doesn't really sway me one way or the other. I have a unlimited and I have a family plan. I have priced the competition over the years and I haven't found anything close to what I pay over a calendar year.
I have come to terms with the Tri-band fiasco, I just wish they would come out and say something that made absolute sense about the how's and the why's... It's not 1995 anymore news and especially things like pricing and service related news, travels fast and then blows up into Sprint bashing fodder on various internet sites.
I had two people over hear a conversation I had last night and left T-mobile to join Sprint... Math skills ftw!!

Nice to know there are still some very level headed logical thinking people out there! Agreed fully.

So essentially they will give you a trade in value of whatever you owe (as long as the phone isn't smashed) and you start the new payment plan. Gotcha!
