Hi
Please help to restore TA (DRM). I had not backed it up. How can i restore it? And on what does effect missing drm keys?
If you didn't backup your TA partition there is no way to get back your DRM keys.
The keys affect certain proprietary software, like sonys bravia engine you won't be able to use anymore and your warranty is now void.
Also please do not flash the backup of someone else, as this will hard-brick your phone.
People have been saying for a very long time that if you edit your phone, it's automatically void. But that is not what Sony says. Sony says warranty MAY be void if the phone is edited. I've sent a few edited phones back for repair (normal phone damage, not me) and they happily replaced my phone.
As for TA, in the past, flashtool could return your TA keys. I haven't tried that in a long time so I don't know if you still can. It worked for any device, it was not device specific or unique.

hi, i am totally new to rooting. my phone is sony Xperia Mk16i with rooting status - Bootloader unlock status: Yes. the ROM is factory installed 2.3.4.
i was checking this forum and noticed the test point method of rooting which allows to maintain the DRM keys. i do not purchase any songs or videos online neither do i use the trackID app of my phone. is there any other reason to save the DRM keys other than the ones mentioned?
i noticed a thread in another forum where someone was complaining about not being able to use camera after rooting without saving the DRM keys.
i would also like to know if there is any method of rooting the phone without unlocking the bootloader. the main reason i want to root my phone is to increase its internal memory and be able to use the USB OTG option in my phone which is locked.
i am trying this after expiry of the warranty period and seriously can't afford to brick my phone.
any help or answers will be much appreciated.
thank you

if we contact sony to get the bootloader unlocked,do they keep track of that? can we just relock, and restore the drm key and send it in for warranty? any has any experiences to share?
anyone?
Yes, Sony track your IMEI, and you lose the warranty!
Good Morning guys,
I plan to unlock my bootloader in the next few days. But I don't want to type in my real imei number, because if I have to send the phone in they might check and regret warranty.
So: Is ist possible to type in bull**** in the form or is the unlock code generated via the imei and I risk hard bricking the phone? And is there a counter which says that it was once unlocked if it is locked atm?
Thanks In advance
No this will not work!
The unlock Code will be generated specially for your IMEI, so a Unlock Code for a bull**** IMEI will not work.
Also I know (mostly from other manufacturers) that the "void warranty" is mostly because the manufacturer does not want to repair phones which are bricked for free.
If you have a hardware-defect, the manufacturer will repair your phone. The only situation I know where a manufacturer did not repair a phone, was because the phone was overheated and defective, because someone overvolted the phone via modified kernel.
So ... normally it will not "really" void your warranty.
simply relock your bootloader and flash a stock rom before sending it in
I'm going to buy an used Xperia Z2 and I want that the software be untouched have drm keys etc. How can i check it or how can I check that the phone have the drm keys, bootloader was always locked? I really need bionz etc. Thanks for the answers.
This is the first Huawei device I own and I was wondering, what are the consequences of unlocking the bootloader?
Would DRM be lost forever like in Sony Xperia phones?
And if they are lost, does any software on stock Huawei android OS stop working?
Please give as much detail as possible in your answers since I do not want to mess up my new phone.
Unlocking the bootloader permits you to modify entirely the system.
However it comes up that he puts you an annoying message saying that "this device cannot be trusted" EVERYTIME you restart your phone.
Even when you go to your stock or TWRP recovery, it always says this.
When you're rooted and you decide to relock your bootloader, it'll tell that your device is modified so it failed verification... so it's another message in your face !
You'll lose warranty it seems, you'll lose all your data, and DRM might be deleted too (due to the "factory reset lowlevel")
But there are no losses in functionality like on Sony devices. So in general, if you know what you're doing you won't run up against any problems.
