Is this possible. I've tried everything the fingerprint scanner doesn't work unless you have a secure lock screen. I have used knock code since I got the V10 along with fingerprint so I can use the fingerprint, but I don't want to have to put a knock code in if my fingerprint doesn't work or its on the table...
Anyone got a workaround? I'm still searching.
Matt
Does no one know how I can do this?

I'd like to know the same thing. I know LastPass just added fingerprint support (for marshmallow) and I'd love to be able to use my fingerprint to unlock that (when marshmallow comes) without having to have a secure lockscreen. I don't really care if someone can get into my phone. I just don't want to have to type in my password to use lastpass
I've searched around everywhere for this option .... I just don't think it exists.
So just don't use any lock to get into the phone now. I've got the stuff I want secure in locked files/apps section. Makes using and accessing the main functions of the phone much more accessible. Only doing this for a few days now as a test, but I think it'll be the way I keep it.
My Two Lock Screens Worth
I've addressed the issue another way. I added several more "trusted" places, devices, and connections as well as "trust while moving" which means as long as the phone senses it's on me, I'm at home, connected to Bluetooth devices I know, and more, there's no secure lock but fingerprint still unlocks it. Perfect. Still testing it

For those that have 2.3.4, do you still have to swipe to unlock and then actually unlock the phone with the password/pin/whatever if you have it enabled?
The fingerprint scanner was the only way I could figure out how to avoid this with 2.2.x, but since that's non-functional at the moment, I was curious how the unlock might be working now.
Thats pretty much standard as far as I know. If you don't want to have to do that, then just don't put a passcode or pattern lock.
Things I need to do to my Note before I die....not really...but would like to do anyway....
1. Root the device - without resorting to flashing. Is there an exploit for this?
2. Need udev entries for this device - I run Linux
3. Need Linux based ROM installer for the i717 that works well.
...and the real kicker...
4. I need a lock screen app that will not have the emergancy call feature AND keep my phone locked! You have no idea how many times this thing has woken up at work when someone has tried to call me. Only to have it pocket dial 911 because I bumped it afterwards at work. (and yes, I'm getting an Otter Box Defender for it and that will cure the problem but still would like the app...)
In regards to the lockscreen, I would suggest WidgetLocker Lockscreen. You can completely customize your lock screen performance and if you still want while maintaining any of your stock security features if you have any in place. Hope it helps.
Hi All,
I was wondering if someone could confirm what apps you can run while the phone is still password locked. someone confirmed it is possible to operate the camera. But I am hoping it is also possible to at least do some forms of quick note taking, possibly audio notes as well. Can these be added and operated from lock screen at all (create only, password to access existing etc.) ?
Work enforces a password lock policy and I find that often, I find the delay in having to unlock etc. just too inconvenient...
Thanks,
Zuber

Bump...
I can't be the only one that locks the phone with a password or pattern surely ?
Can anyone confirm that smart lock is working on there device? Have been trying to use it for a while now with very little luck. On body detection works but only within a matter of seconds, trusted places doesn't work at all and i can't unlock my phone with okay Google ( but i have read some devices don't support this feature). Just after some reference points, they could be all the same.
Works fine for me. In stock as for custom ROM. I don't use on body detection but location works fine. Make sure you have enabled great accuracy for location services.
It works fine on my p9000, but I am on Eragon ROM .. Smart lock works as it should and I can use the command ok google to unlock.
However having tried other ROMs I know that what options appear in Security >> Smart Lock vary - as an example when I tried Lineage ROM I couldn't unlock device with my voice, nor could I use voice commands from any screen. Unfortunately I haven't really sued Stock for a little while so I am unsure what actual options are available for the Stock ROM. I would of assumed though the standard Smart Lock options of On Body Detection / Trusted Places / Trusted Devices should be standard (I have 2 other options Trusted face & trusted voice on Eragon)
Going on a long shot, i run a launcher so I'm going to run without for a day or two and see how it works out. Wouldn't have thought it would make a difference but worth a try.

Think I nailed it, i use a gesture to lock my screen on Nova launcher. When i lock with the power button it's fine but when i use a gesture smart lock doesn't work, just incase anyone else ever has a similar problem.
Hi,
So I have this strange issue which I cannot figure out. I set up the knock code when I got the phone, as well as one fingerprint to unlock it. It works fine both ways in everyday use. But recently I wanted to add more fingerprints to my phone, and when I try to add them, I am prompted to input my knock code, which I do. The weird part is that the phone says that it's the wrong code. Now, I am sure that I am not inputting it wrong. It always unlocks my screen, just not the security options.
Is there an another code I am not aware of? Maybe a default one for the security options? Has anyone had an issue like mine, and can help me?
Thx in advance.

Its definitely an issue with your device. I just checked and it works like it's supposed to. There is no other code for security options, it's the one and same, no matter PIN, PW or Knock Code.
