Hi;
So i recently installed CyanogenMod 13.0 on to my Samsung S4 GT-I9505 using the first download link on:
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltexx --> cm-13.0-20160102-NIGHTLY-jfltexx.zip
That all installed fine, but i wanted to get the Google apps installed aswell, which is where i am having some issues.
I have been trying to install the following package:
http://opengapps.org/?api=6.0&variant=nano
but have also tried to install quite a few others as well, and all have exactly the same issue. Basically after the apps have been installed and i boot the device up, i get various error messages like:
unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped
unfortunately, google play services has stopped
Any help on fixing this would be much appreciated, as nothing seems to download from the play store thats included in Cyanogen, they just say "your download will begin shortly" but never does.
Thanks in advance
I am a total noob, but I had exactly this problem. The issue appears to be that you have to flash gapps *before* rebooting after flashing CM. In my case since I had already flashed CM before I flashed gapps I had to put the gapps file on the phone (I did this by push with adb, you might find an easier way), re-flash CM, wipe cache/dalvik, flash gapps, wipe cache/dalvik, reboot. It worked.
The easiest guide I found was on androiding.how, called "how to install cm13 (cyanogenmod13)." (The forum won't let me post a link, just google it, it should come up).
Hope that helps. I'm on a galaxy s5 and used twrp recovery if that matters.

Thanks for the reply, i gave that a try and it seems to be stuck on a loop now with "installing app # of 22" . it completes the installation and then reboots, after about 5 minutes on the Cyanogen boot screen, it goes back to installing apps again.
Hm, did you do a factory reset in your recovery before re-flashing CM and gapps? If not, that might be necessary.

Yeah, i did. Tried it multiple times now
That's about the limit of my ability right there, hopefully someone with more experience than me can point you in the right direction. Good luck.
Boot to recovery (preferably TWRP)
Wipe cache / dalvik cache / data / system
Flash CM13 and the gapps you were trying first
Reboot
Profit!
Since you keep flashing different gapps on top of the system, this is probably causing some issues. Once you fully wipe and reflash everything, it should work.

Ive tried that multiple times using twrp (i always wipe everything before i flash CM13 and gapps), i still get the exact same issue. The second the phone boots, i get all these "unfortunately ******** has stopped".
Perhaps try installing 12.1 with gapps, get it all updated then upgrade to 13. I did the accidental upgrade to 13 but have had no issues whatsoever.

"Unfortunately Setup Wizard has stopped working" - after trying to install Gapps
So I've successfully managed to get the current CM nightly on my S2, after a few trials and tribulations.
I'd left my phone alone for a bit, all working fine.
Then I decide to get it sorted properly, and install the Google Apps.
Googling told me to use the 20120429 version. So I downloaded that (using the phone's browser), went into CWM and installed it. No joy.
Silly me, I didn't reset + clear cache. So I did that. Still no joy.
So now I've re-installed CM and done a reset + clear cache.
And still I'm stuck looking at the 'setup wizard stopped working' messages, in an endless soul-destroying loop
What can I do?
Would re-installing a stock rom and then re-rooting do the trick?
I can't get Odin to connect, and so I've copied the zipped 4.0.3 rom into the internal SD card, but CWM fails (is it because it has a .dll file alongside the .tar?)
I'm wishing I'd left the phone alone now

Right, maybe I found the cause of the problem - I've installed cm-10.1-20130125-NIGHTLY-i9100 but when I wanted to find out which version of Gapps I needed I couldn't be sure what it was so I decided to just find the original download page again. But somehow I managed to find this page http://get.cm/?device=galaxys2 (a rather too easy mistake to make?) ...which has version 9! So I've tried to install the wrong Gapps file

I thought you might have! I'm not sure whether a simple flash of the correct gapps file will solve your problem or whether you will need to wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache, reinstall the CM10.1 nightly and then flash the correct gapps file which can be found here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
Try just wiping your cache and dalvik cache in recovery and flashing the new gapps file I linked, if the flashing process doesn't last for atleast 20 seconds, then you may have to carry out the steps I listed above for a complete reinstall.

Thanks but I've now tried the reset / wipes / reinstalls multiple times to no avail. And now when I connect my phone to my pc to try to put the correct gapps zip on there, Windows Explorer is only showing a few of the folders on Internal Storage. The stuff that I've already got at root isn't showing. Have I knackered my phone?
I'm going to have to leave it til the morning - the battery is nearly empty.
Edit: Damn, I couldn't get to sleep without fixing it first, and luckily I did: I rebooted my pc, and the explorer eventually did show the contents ok (just very slowly). I dragged the zip in, installed it with CWM and *huzzah* it's working! The only odd thing is the camera has disappeared from the applications...
I can wait until tomorrow to work that out.
Thanks for your help

That's strange. I recently flashed a wrong gapps file and it led to some things not working, especially the Play Store. I tried just wiping the cache and dalvik cache and flashing, but that didn't work. So I did a wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache, reflashed the ROM and then flashed gapps. I think I may have wiped the cache and dalvik cache once more for good luck, and then repaired permissions in the advanced section of recovery. Phone booted up fine and all apps worked perfectly. I doubt the phone is knackered, perhaps try and different ROM just to make sure it boots fine, and then try flash CM10.1 again. Good luck
Samsung Galaxy s2 CM10 trouble Setup Wizard has stopped working
Im from Asia and I guess Samsung s2 int’l version has different features. I already updated my firmware to JB 4.1.2 (leaked) and since I am not satisfied with it,I rooted it and installed siyah as well as cm10 + gapps from XDA links. I followed everything according to the posts and vids. The problem is that after rebooting and CM start up showed up,the next prompt was UNFORTUNATELY,SET UP WIZARD HAS STOPPED WORKING. What’s wrong? I have tried 6x times and no one worked correctly. HELP me!
I was under the same problem few days ago...
flashed 4.2.2 gapps on 4.1.2..
and succumbed to 'unfortunately setup wizard has stopped' error, until i flashed the respective 4.2.2 gapps.
but sadly it ate away my internal memory (cant help )
So the point is
just flash the respective gapps
and then the ROM again
Hi I just installed cyangenmod and it works but setup wizard is crashing and I don't know how to fix this my phone its pretty much unusable. Need help urgently!
The key is to wipe regular cache partition after installing Gapp zip! :]
I think you have the key. I get my cm10.1.5 and I flashed a realy slim gapps (11mb), but after that I didn't wipe cache and dalvik. So the phone didn't woke up because it get stucked in the wizzard setup. So I have to do as u said. And like the other said, reinstall the rom and then the gapps.

Anyone else have problems flashing to a 4.3 ROM? (I know some people do because I've searched.)
No matter what ROM it is, if it is 4.3 it will always fail to reboot a second time after it has been flashed.
Currently on CleanROM ACE 4.9 (4.1.2) with TWRP 2.6.0.1
I've tried to go to CM10.2 and it would reboot initially but then hang on the Note II logo if I tried to reboot.
I've tried to go to Paranoid Android.. same thing.
I've tried to go to PAC-man.. same thing.
I've tried flashing from the stock 4.1.2 ROM and the same thing happens.
I've followed every instruction I could find including this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423057
I do a factory reset, format data, flash ROM, wipe caches, flash gapps, wipe caches, reboot. It will boot fine from TWRP and load everything normally. Then, if I reboot or power off the device, it will hang on the Note II screen and I have to nandroid back to my previous ROM.
Any insight as to why this is happening? I haven't been able to find anything besides some random instructions for wiping/flashing (which I've linked). These ROMs look great and I'd really like to move to 4.3, but I cannot figure out what the problem is.

First time installing CyanogenMod 10.2 to your Galaxy Note 2 I605, or coming from another ROM:
- Read known issues ans FAQs
- Flash the latest official ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM10.2 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM10.2 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore system data using Titanium Backup!
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
read the OP for CM 10.2 next time....
First - clockworkmod not twrp for 4.3 usually fixes things
Second - do a factory reset AFTER installing
Third - Dont restore apps with TiBu going to 4.3
Next time be truthful when you say you read and searched.
Hello! So as a lot of you may have heard, a lot of people are having problems with lollipop ROMs bootlooping on first boot and not starting up at all! So, I have the same issue. I have a t0ltetmo (Galaxy Note 2 on T-Mobile). And whenever I install a lollipop ROM with the gapps, it says "android is upgrading", and when that's done, it goes into an immediate endless bootloop! I can't get it to work at all! Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Try to boot device without gapps
Then if you device is started good, go into recovery, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Then flash gapps.
I recommend you to download pico PA gapps. That is the smallest package. Only playstore and google play services, that is enougt. Try this.

I haven't yet tried it with the PA gapps like you said, although I should also add that the ROM doesn't boot without gapps either! I even went as far as formatting my internal memory completely to rule out that it wasn't a file on the internal memory! Same thing, "android is upgrading" (which i've never seen a ROM do after installation) and then a bootloop.
EDIT: I have been using these lollipop gapps. https://s.basketbuild.com/gapps

I had Unofficial 5.1.1 installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300. I updated my device via CM Updater to CM13 6.0.1 Marshmallow. After updating, I am getting an error Google Play services has stopped, unfortunately. I cannot access any Google App.
I've flashed the GApps through OpenGapps. But after flashing GApps, phone stucks on Bootloop. I've tried many variants (pico, nano, stock) but none of them worked. I am still stucked at boot screen.

Definitely Gapps problem.
1) Backup your data.
2) clean install Marshmallow rom (wipe data/ factory reset & install)
3) look for the correct Gapps (slim zero Gapps work for me)
You might know, but just telling - make sure the Gapps is for Android 6.0
P.S: don't panic and flash several things at once. Maybe you haven't clean flashed the CM 13, that might be the reason.
Clean flash 13.0 and don't boot yet after and go back to recovery, instead flash gapps immediately after flashing the rom. If you dont then you're going to have a bad time. Hope I helped
Done. Flash CWM and Boom
Thank You @sashankps. Slim Zero Gapps worked for me.
What I did?
1. Installed CWM Recovery.
2. Wiped everything.
3. Installed CM 13 (6.0.1)
4. Flashed Slim Zero Gapps.
5. Done.
PS: For future readers, please note that do not wipe cache/data after installing Gapps. After finishing above steps directly Reboot your system.

yea so I am running before in cyanogenmod 10.1 with jellybean and I downloaded Cyanogenmod 12.1 from rom manager. I also downloaded gapps downloader from playstore to find gapps there.
I flashed Cyanogenmod 12.1 successful. I installed Gapps successful, too
I am now running in android 5.1.1 but when the phone starts, ALL THE GOOGLE APPS I INSTALLED STOPS. Even in the startup, all the google applications forces closes and the apps is not installed. When I looked in the settings>apps>all
the google apps is there but it is in my sd, it also shows com.google......etc and it is not installed in my device.
The android Keyboard (AOSP) also closes again and again so I cannot type when the phone asks me to input password in my WIFI. SO I AM ****ING STUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****ING STUCK
I wanted to try to flash it back to jellybean, but the Recovery my phone is running is the Cyanogenmod Recovery and there is no back up and restore option.
I want to fix this issue, I mean I still want to run my device on Lollipop. How can I fix this? How to make gapps work and the keyboard,
Take a backup of all your stuff in internal storage.
Download these files onto your SD card.
Kernel- https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847293132
TWRP- https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960684130
Download the proper Pico gapps from this thread.
After that,
1) Boot into recovery
2) Install the recovery
3) Reboot your device again into recovery. If it does not boot into TWRP recovery then it means you're on an older version of CM 12.1., so flash the kernel first, then the recovery, and try to reboot your device into recovery) If it booted into TWRP then you do not need to flash the kernel.
In TWRP, select 'Wipe', and do a factory reset, after that's done, select install in TWRP and flash Pico Gapps.
thanks for the reply!
but do you think this would work?
do you think the cm recovery would accept this zip files, because I tried to flash my backup applications such as games, and other stuff and it showed err signature verification failed.

i mean the gapps are working but when I sync my google acc, it syncing error. they are working but after for about 5 mins or later, com.google.process.gapps unfortunately stops so i cant use it and more error stuff comes out. I think I am having issues with GApps, basically. how the hell i can fix this. I tried so many gapps from the xda thread, youtube, and other forums for 5.1.x. still, they unfortunately stop.
Take a backup of your stuff.
Download GApps (ARM/5.1/pico) from this link.
http://opengapps.org/
Copy paste the .zip file into your SD Card.
Boot into recovery (TWRP) and wipe /data, /cache, /dalvik cache
After that is done, install the open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-xxxxxxxx.zip
Reboot your phone.
Now the unfortunately stopped error will be fixed.
that is what I have downloaded. I wiped data, cache and dalvik cache. and installed gapps
it says Insufficient storage space available in system partition. you may want to use a smaller Open GApps package or consider removing some apps using gapps-config.
