I noticed that there hadn't been a thread about this that had been made.
So I enjoy using Viper4Android. coming from a Note 3, the process was pretty straight to the point.
On my LG V10 (H901), I WAS using the blackhole rom but decided to switch back to the original rom and have it rooted.
I have figured out a way to use Viper on Google music but i prefer to use the app that came with LG (i happen to just enjoy it better). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the default equalizer for the LG music app so that Viper will not have any issues. I'm plan to reformat my phone to see if that helps. I'm not sure if that's a consistent issue with other users or it's SUPPOSED to work and I just may have made a mistake.
Hopefully this all makes sense.
I'm using Viper4Android 2.3.4.0. I try not to use the DAC just in case that may be preventing it from working.
Have you tried enabling compatibility mode in v4a?

Hey guys!
Ok so heres the problem: I have rooted my Note. I attempted to use a sound enhancer to make the bass in my Beats (Dont wanna hear the hate, okay?) and for some reason I get nothing but sound problems with play back. It pops, cracks and randomly cuts off (The sound enhancement). I figured it was the Rom so I loaded up another one. Same deal. So I tried an AOSP ROM. Its works perfectly. I would use that rom but I am SEVERELY missing my S-pen functionality. So I just decided to completely unroot and go back to stock, hoping that would fix all my problems. I would get a properly working sound enhancer and S-pen functionality. Well now that im back on stock, the EQ is not working again...Is this a problem with touchwiz or the Note itself!? Im getting super frustrated. Ive wasted time and my patience is almost gone...I just cant seem to figure it out. Any ideas?
Make sure you don't have two equalizer or sound processors running simultaneously.

Anyone using any audio mods , if so which ones and how well do they work? I'm coming from the HTC One which has great headphone/speakerphone audio quality. I'm not too concerned about speakerphone as I use headphones most of the time.

Isn't that a flashable zip? Is there an option to flash in stock recovery since the Verizon variant doesn't have TWRP or CWM?

And you enabled speaker boost and adjusted the max speaker gain?

It worked for me but, no significant change in regard to loudness. As far as sound quality....big difference.

it does work, the g3 just has a great audio output that its hard to tell the difference. you will not get an increase in volume though :crying:
I am an audiophile. I own many thousands of dollars in headphone equipment as well as monitoring equipment. I have been an avid android user and developer since the HTC G1. I use viper4audio not for the speaker output but for the headphone output. The G3 uses the same Amp for the speaker as it does for the headphones. There is no change what so ever when viper4audio is enables to my sound. I use the equalizer ive checked multiple settings, i've even used different audio players to get viper4audio to work on neither the speaker or headphones. What you experiencing is a placebo effect.
I hate to ask such a basic question, but are you guys using the XPOSED framework and have you enabled the viper mod in the framework?
I can assure you this mod works with the G3 (at least the AT&T version - I'll be testing on a verizon version later today). The sound difference can be drastic depending on what mods you turn on and to what levels you set them at.
That brings up another question I guess.... Are you going into the GUI and selecting different mods? Just installing the app won't change anything as nothing is turned on be default. You have to set things up manually.....
Just moved from and S5 and this was one thing I installed first. I can't speak to the headphone jack but bluetooth audio definitely works.
Viper sounds amazing on this phone, I can tell a difference from my s4. Very happy with spotify viper combo
does anyone has a the origina file handy for a verizon LG-G3 handy? I followed the instructions in the op and saved the original file on my sdcard but I ended up buying another sdcard and forgot I had it in the old sdcard. Now I'm scared if I ever going to do a change I don't have the original file to go back to. I'm happy with this mod I just want to have it just in case, thank

I am an audiophile as well and viper has been working perfectly for me since day one of rooting my g3. I don't have force enable viper on. I also have the user audio profile installed. And FX compatibility mode is on normal. Do you have yours installed as a system app? I don't.

I am an audiophile and I always recommend Noozxoide Eizo Rewire Pro. Amazing.
I think viper is the best I notice a big difference in both quality and volume I used a decibel meter on my g2 to compare the difference and with viper I gained on the low end 6 db and on the high end 10db so that's an average of a 8 db gain with viper
I rooted almost specifically to use Viper4Android. Ive noticed that the phone speaker is actually quieter with V4A enabled(probably just settings) but headphone volume/clarity is fantastic. I also came from an HTC One M7, and i have to say, 1 watt does work on this device

I can confirm this also. V4A FX 2.3.3.0/Verizon VS985(Rooted) -
Viper always has worked for me on my G3 with and without Xposed framework installed, but always with root. My steps are below, never given me a problem.
V4A version 2.3.3.0 [in Normal (not compatibility) mode, with granted root permissions, Latest version, expert UI, played with SPOTIFY]
Installed by dragging apk from extSD to
dragged to system/apps/
permissions change to rw-r--r--
ownerships changed to root
if its not in my app drawer, i reboot, if it is I go straight to the install of the drivers (both have worked fine for me)
installed V4A driver by granting root
Super Audio Quality
Reboot
Select it as the equalizer in spotify
enjoy

Agreed.
Has anyone tried an audio boost to the headphone out volume with V4A Installed? I like to feel my head shake with bass...but am very picky about quality of sound too. I know on my GS4 any audio boost to TW 4.4.2 caused distortion even if using V4A at 50% media volume @ signal strength= moderate \ Max Gain =x4 \ Max output = -1.9db
Using Klipsch S4A buds - anyone got recommendations for earbuds that go well with V4A on the G3? interested to know thoughts, looking for new ones
I've used viper4android in the past as well as dragonaudio on my m8 & m9. Dragon is out of the question, but has anyone tried anything else before I go on a flashing spree to avoid any soft bricks. ;-p.
If not I'll post my finding when I find something good. The audio sounds good in this stock ROM but I have issues with skipping while connected via Bluetooth.

viper4android must have
I just tried the stock music apps EQ and it increased the headphones volume and gave nice clear bass. As of now I don't see a need to get any other audio mods. I am listening to Hip Hop BTW. Im coming from a Galaxy S4 and their built in EQ made the volume quieter and made the audio terrible. Good job to Huawei developers again.
Would be nice to try viper4android to compare.
Skipping
Skipping will stop if you use the stock music player. For Bluetooth resume there is an app called "Bluetooth connect and play." Works like a charm on the 5x.
So, I've used Viper4Android for a time, but it has become so buggy that even running the app is a hit or miss (sometimes wouldn't even process the audio even after freezing AudioFX). That being said, I am looking for other audio mod alternatives.
As the topic implies, what are the audio mods that you guys are using and tell me the reason(s) why. I am interested to know. Thanks!
Hi, i personally use viper4android and i feel its really good, i had some ringer volume cracking issues when using stock rom, but everything works fine on miui. If you want alternative, i suggest Dalby Atmos, but it has less functions than viper4android.
Thread to be closed.
Thanks for the guide, much appreciated!
works great on EvoX too.... Thanks for the tip
I have installed this mod on Miui eu v11.0.11 and it works beautifully. The bass is much cleaner than dolby atmos plus which has very muddy bass. The definition is also way better with viper. The only thing I'm yet to figure out is how to reduce the processing delay. It is noticeable sometimes when increasing volume or changing tracks.
Also when the bass hits there's clearly some hint of attenuation going on which makes me feel that something is limiting the overall output. I will go over the instructions for v4a because it's much more complicated than atmos. After that I can give a proper opinion.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial.

That's normal as every device will be hardware limited on the output gain. Try adding gain amplification, it might help in some cases.
There are way too many options to go through, but you will most likely find what you need.

Don't worry, v4a does not work on his A10 or 11 versions. I tried on both already. I recommend you trying other firmware. PixysOS works well.
On redmi note pro global after doing everything it shows the driver version but the rest is No's neon enabled no too . I'm on latest EU.miui

MIUI 12? I havent tried this on MIUI 12 yet. Global is still receiving the update, so I'm currently using PyxisOS.
EDIT: I've found the "fix" for the issue. Just go to Settings and enable Legacy Mode. This alone worked for me on MIUI 12.0.1 EEA Global.

Turn on legacy mode on Settings
Quick note for all those who like to install every single update out there... The newest version of v4a app (2.7.2.1) was really misbehaving on my 9s running miui eu v11.0.11 so I had to remove it. Every time a notification came in there was a loud crackling noise from the loudspeaker just before and after playing the notification tone. It's as if the speaker is turned on and off just before playing a sound but the popping sound was extremely annoying. Also, the app obviously isn't optimized to work on the rom because it could only work in compatibility mode. Disabling compatibility mode made the app unresponsive and sometimes it froze up the entire system forcing me to hard reboot. Loading ddc and irs presets was hit and miss at best.
Anyone wishing to update the v4a app from v2.7.1.6 be warned. If you decide to update anyway, let us know if it works well for you and your rom setup.
PS: I just stumbled across the ddc and irs profiles for my iems and I'm completely sold. Viper4Android is the king of sound mods. Dolby can't touch a hair on it. I knew that my once timid redmi note 9s was a music giant. It just needed to be woken up and v4a was the adrenaline shot it needed.
I just couldn't live with the crappy sound of the stock rom knowing that the Texas Instruments TAS2562 Class-D Audio Amplifier in my phone was capable of putting out up to 6w of power.

Can you share those profiles? I tried the latest v4a and it wouldn't work. It just wasn't active when I clicked on the chip icon.

To make v4a work just go back to version 2.7.1.6.
DDC profiles are specific to the headphones they're calibrated for. If you try them on different headphones they will sound like crap because every headphone model is tuned differently by the manufacturer.

Keep testing. I'm not going to reinstall it just yet. I don't even see a big difference over the previous version. The most notable changes target android 11.

I can confirm this, V4A FX 2.7.2.1 work on 11.0.10.0 without Audio Modification Libary.
I just needed to enable legacy mode, it seems stable and without any bugs.
I will report back in a few days if something is wrong
12/11/2020 edit: yup, everything seems to be fine
Seems like V4A doesn't work on Redmi Note 9S with MIUI 12.0.2 Global, or atleast it doesn't work on my RN9S. I've tried everything mensioned here and on other forums but I always get
Neon enabled: No
Status: Abnormal
Audio Format: Unsupported.
Ive literally ran out of ideas now.
[Update] I finally got it working. I remembered that some years back, in order to get V4A working we had to change SELinux from "Enforce" to "Permissive". So I downloaded SELinuxModeChanger, changed SELinux to "Permissive" and now V4A is working great. To keep V4A working after every reboot I have to change SELinux to "Permissive", which I don't really mind...
Thanks for the update, helped me get v4a processing again on v12. I knew about the selinux restriction but it was so long ago I completely forgot about it. Good thing SELinuxModeChanger still works despite not being updated for 3 years
