Issue trying to decrypt cm12.1 - HTC Droid DNA

Title says it all, I already posted in the cm12.1 thread but I can't get my phone to not be encrypted. I would seriously appreciate some help..

@invisiblek thanks for keeping this device alive along with others. I am about to ship off to bootcamp and I was going to give my DNA to my mom. Well, I am trying to get my device to decrypt but for the life of me I can't. I encrypted inside of CM12.1 a month or two ago and half way into a reboot i need to do my password to boot. I have reset the phone from phone settings, and even tried wiping EVERYTHING including internal storage inside of TWRP yet half way into a pure clean flash of CM12.1 (sideload zips from recovery using adb) It STILL wants me to do my password and phone says it is encrypted in settings. I even wiped everything (again) and obviously bootlooped into htc logo until i rebooted into recovery where twrp asked for my password to unencrypt...lol I am not trying to complain but I don't want her to deal with the super long reboot and having to remember my password everytime it tries to boot. I would really appreciate any help!
Edit:
Just flashed TWRP 2.8.7.1 from mdmower hoping it would actually kill the encryption but didn't work.

Unable to remove full phone encryption

Hello,
I flashed Cyanogenmod 9 on my S3, and wanted to play around with the full phone encryption feature. I decided I don't like it, and want to go back to no encryption.
I did a factory reset through the rom, and the phone still prompted me for my password. (?) I even tried to wipe in clockwork recovery and still no dice. I did notice that /sdcard cannot be mounted in clockwork recovery, and that might be the issue?
I feel like a complete newb here, but I was hoping someone could explain how to remove the encryption, and explain why it is still present after a factory reset....
Lol something like this happened with my friend LG as well so he went to Lg and they fixed it for him. This was 3-4 years ago I had nexus one that time.

Haha, man... Kinda ridiculous that a factory wipe isn't doing the trick.
edit----
I've played around a bit more, and here is what I tried:
1)I flashed CM10. Formatted the the /cache and dalvik cache.
The CM10 flash screen loaded, yet it still prompted me for the password. (!!!!???) Even after typing in the correct pw, it just hung on the green android.
2)I formatted everything in recovery /system /cache and dalvik . I then installed CM9.
The CM9 flash screen came up and required my pw. Afterward, it went back to the CM9 flash screen and just stayed there.
My question is what is wrong with the phone. At this point there should absolutely be no more phone encryption, yet it's still present and prompting for the password regardless of what is formatted, and regardless of the rom that is flashed.
I saw a thread on this yesterday and I'll ask the same question....why would you encrypt your device anyways?? You do know their are like 100,000,000,000,000 combinations for a pin number right? Encryption really isn't needed unless A. Your cheating on you wife or girlfriend in that case your a fool or B. Your hiding something top top top secret from your local government. Its really not needed.

Or work related emails... It's not compulsory, but it was requested when I was setting up the exchange server info. Any solution for this issue?

Deleted OS and Internal Partitions By Mistake

Good afternoon everyone, I got a dilemma here I can't seem to resolve or find a solution on here for. I have a new HTC One M9 (hima) and I was attempting to do a full root and install Lineage OS and Open Gapps. The phone is S-Off, but appears to have a locked bootloader still since it does not have the fastboot option on the bootloader, only boot to downloader, boot to recovery, reboot, and power down options.
When I attempted to install Lineage, I made the mistake of doing an advanced wipe, wiped the data, cache, dalvik cache, and internal storage prior to install figuring this would be like the many installs of custom ROMS I've done in the past.
Well, I cannot get any ROM to work at this point, CM 12, CM13, Bad Boyz, and Viper roms all seem to install ok but will hang on the first boot process and will not load up to the in initial first run wizard screens. I also cannot get Open Gapps to install at all, it reports errors and rejects the install. I've tried it with the verify zip box checked and unchecked, I've tried both the 7.1 ARM and 7.1 ARM64 versions, I've also used Gapps 6.0 with the CM 12 and 13.
Unfortunately I didn't realize I needed to enable OEM unlocking in developer options prior to attempting a boot loader unlock, I have no ROM installed so I cannot do this now.
So my question to everyone is, how do I get an OS installed again on this phone so I can get back to where I was prior to wiping everything so I can begin the root and bootloader unlock process again?
Thanks for your help with this everyone.
I am not a dev, so not positive this is what you will need to do. I think you need to RUU your phone. If phone is Sprint HTC M9, OMJ has a thread with the latest RUU and all the instructions. Of course this does assume you can get into download mode. I had a similar issue a while back, ended up I had to use adapter for SD card into PC to transfer the RUU. Then put SD card back into phone. Hope this gets you started.
Ok thanks, I'll try that.

You get this fixed?
Yes, I was able to get it fixed, I had to RUU it with a signed firmware from HTC directly. Thanks for the help.

need help, phone ask for password to encrypt but i never set one

got my X today and testet some custom roms, but after i tested omni, my phone always ask for a password to encrypt the system partition but i never set one.
is there a "general password" or something to get rid of that?
this is happened when you re flash stock rom and check MASTER RESET but never wipe internal storage.
you will have to reflash / wipe all, there is no other way (at least not that I know of)
all data will be lost and you will get your internal storage back
i do a full wipe now, but i still encounter this problem. cant believe its just about master-reset because even if i dont wipe it, i get questioned about the password wich i dont know. if i enter "default_password" it says "your password is correct but your files are corrupted please go back to your recovery and wipe your system" but in TWRP this password doesnt work and i cant wipe anything besides cache. I cant even set a pasword if i'm on stock .252
never thought it would be such a pain in the ass to flash a custom-rom on the X...
so, after some tests, even if i set a pattern lock, after flashing any custom-rom it says my pattern is wrong. i don't know what to do to get rid of this, i hope some of you guys can help me because at this level i just only can use stock-rom
[Edit]
after more research, i found a tipp on a guide for One+ that data (encryption) can be erased in twrp. So, i did and wow, it works. good to know.

Unable To Decrypt My Data Please Help!!

My phone is encrypted and After I flashed an update of a custom rom it required me to enter a password to start android
I did my screen pin and it won't accept it. I tried default_password it did not work too, also twrp has locked me out of my data
don't tell me to wipe my data its really important and I need it.
And this is why we backup....
The encryption key was unique to the old version of Android, even re-flashing stock is NO guarantee of recovering data...
Sorry...

LOL! Its funny, while Im reading your post, Im clean flashing my phone from bootlegger to xiaomi eu stable rom. Cleared up security pin, flashed DFE magisk v19.3 prior and after flashing the rom, and guess what? Ended up in same situation as you. HAHAHA! I think Im gonna give up with this whole decryption thing. Its really s**ks, sometimes DFE works and sometimes it just wouldnt work. I think I have lost my data and flashed fastboot rom for 10 times since playing with this device.
Anyway, theres no other way to get back the data that we lost. Its just, FRUSTRATING and really wasting our time to decrypt the whole phone back.

exactly the same as you it has happened to me more than one time!!
anyways I managed to make it accept my password by going to the previous build where the password was set up originally.
but the smiles and happiness didn't continue for long, it showed me a message saying that the decryption was unsuccessful and I have to reset my phone to use it again.
I finally gave here I put up a good fight, I did reset my phone and this time I flashed DFE. this phone is so trippie man you have to do a backup before flashing anything!!
also if you are locked up from your phone that means it was encrypted before, id rather my phone be decrypted atleast when I run into issues I can have my data back. this whole encryption thing forces you to wipe your phone, but give what I said a try go back to the previous rom and try unlocking it there. good luck man.

Any chance for me to recover my data?

Hi,
I seriously ****ed up big time. So it started with this. I just wanted to upgrade my magisk, clicked on direct install as usual. Something went wrong I guess because after the upgrade my phone won't boot, just into fastboot. Then I've got an idea, reflashing LOS (at that time I was able to access my storage from TWRP but strangely it did not asked for a password, but it always did before) So yeah, I reflashed LOS which went well(? idk) and after that LOS and TWRP started to ask for a password. I've tried my lock screen pin (which was ok every time before this very unfortunate event, but not ok now), I started Googlin and found a few other passwords like: "default_password" or "none" but neither works of coruse.
What is your opinion, is there any way that I can access that encrypted **** or I should just format everything and restart from a blank phone?
Okay kids the moral of the story: do your ****ing backups regularly!
Thanks
Try to delete locksettings.db in root/data/system via twrp using file explorer

Thanks, that'd be good, but apparently I can't see any file in that folder.
Something is wrong then...data must be mounted. Corect location is data/system/locksettings.db

No. There's no way to recover your data. You'll have to format your storage.

Also happened to me when I try rooting my phone using Kingo. I removed the battery, then put it back. Turned on and it worked again.
