I need help with my Samsung S3 SGH-I747 AT&T - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, so my parents sent me a Samsung S3 SGH-I747 AT&T Carrier...
Problem is that I live in a different country, that would be the Philippines and I was just wondering, if there would be any way possible to get rid of this 4.1.1 I747UCDLK3 Firmware that it comes with
Reasons being:
1. Locked Mobile Hotspot (saying Mobile data is not available (though I activated it) or Invalid SIM Card)
2. So much unnecessary bloatware
3. Using mobile data has become impossible (Globe Telecom carrier), though I can receive texts and calls
What I've tried so far:
Odin, but it just kept on giving me the "SECURE CHECK FAIL : aboot" error and cancelled the Firmware flashing...
Also, if I have to flash Cyanogenmod or any other firmware just so I can port it to a different stock firmware apart from AT&T, that would be epic.
Thank you in advance...

[Q] Loaded phone to stock 2.3.5, now it's kind of broken

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 and I flashed a Stock 2.3.5 Rom to my phone because I screwed up flashing a previous Rom. The Rom I flashed appears to be defaulted to Poland, I managed to change the language, but for some reason I can't get any Cell reception, I am unable to send texts or make phone calls. I checked the CSC and it is: XEO - Poland (Plus, Era, Heyah, Orange, Play). I don't know much about phones but this appears to be an issue since I don't live anywhere near Poland.
I have a Telus Sim card but it appears as if my phone can't connect to their network. Additionally, before flashing this Rom I was pretty sure that my only option in Network Operators was Telus, but now I have Telus and CAN Rogers Mobile INC. When I attempt to select Telus from this list it says "Registering on TELUS..." for around 2-3 minutes then says "Unable to connect to network, try again"
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
When I go to About Phone>Status it says..
Network: Unknown
Mobile Network Type: UMTS
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not roaming(although this appears to switch on and off, despite me being well within Telus coverage.)
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: S5830XWKS2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL654989
[email protected] #1
Build number: Gingerbread.XWKS9
Do I have to install a Telus Canadian version of the stock firmware for 2.3.5 or could I possibly install stock firmware for 2.3.4 and update it through kies to get the appropriate CSC?(My phone is able to connect to Samsung kies)
I don't care if my phone has 2.3.4 or 2.3.5, either one would be fine with me.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, ask me any and all questions.
MAJOR EDIT
I put *#7465625# into my phone to check the Network Lock and Sim Lock's and it turns out
Network Lock [ON]
Network Subset Lock [OFF]
SP Lock [ON]
CP Lock [ON]
Does this mean that I can't connect to to the network because there is a lock on it? If this is right I assume I need to go to Telus and have them unlock it, right?
Edit: I phoned *#2263# to get into a frequency selection screen and I selected: WCDMA Band Preference>WCDMA 850
Telus runs on 850/1900, I have the option to choose 1900, and the option to choose all(850/900/1800/1900/2100), there's also an option to choose "Automatic", should I stick with running 850, or risk running automatic and have it randomly jump around for unknown reasons? I know 850 will work in most areas I go, so it wouldn't be a serious drawback.
I think it's best to use the Telus firmware.....

I'm not entirely certain, but I don't think Telus has any official Firmware that the public has access to. If you have found any that would be appreciated, but as far as I'm aware, companies don't put that kind of thing out into the general public.
On Telusmobilitys site if you go to the section to update software I can see Samsung Galaxy Ace on the list but it says 2.3.4 and there are no available updates, which means I can't update it through that method.
Is the CSC being different an issue or just a small annoyance?

I'm a Singaporean but my Ace is set to XSR (or XER I forgot)

I don't think I clarified this in the op, there is only one option in the CSC list, which is XEO, Poland, I presume I need a Telus CSC, however, using the list found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163
I can't find one that would work for a Telus phone.
Edit: My phones Network is now connected to "TELUS" and Service State is "In Service" but I still have to send messages 3-4 times before they finally say sent, sometimes taking up to 3 minutes to send a simple message.
If anyone knows any way to fix this I'd greatly appreciate it.

[Q] My I9100T - There are no outgoing calls

Hello all.
I have an I9100T cellular that for some reason doesn't "want" to make and receive phone calls.
I have put a valid sim card from different phone networks.
It does recognize the sim (The phone is universally unlocked).
I can surf the net and get 3G.
I can make the emergency phone call (It works I tried)
Can't make regular phone calls
1) I have tried a lot of firmwares (Different kernels)
2) I have tried tried official firmware
3) I have tried different Modem firmwares
4) The IMEI of the phone is corrent and functioning
5) The versions I tried were Gingerbread like (2.3.5, 2.3.6)
6) I have added all the radio frequencies in the Service Mode.
Can anyone give me any ideas.
Thanks.
Could it be that the phone is blocked or barred? In Australia there is a website that looks up imei numbers. Not sure if you have something similar in your country.

[Q] Phone settings say g900f but odin says g900t

Hi Guys,
2 months ago I bought a Samsung s5 in Hong Kong.
While travelling through South East Asia this device worked fine.
While traveling through New Zealand (Old home) this phone worked fine.
While traveling through America (New Home) this phone worked fine for the first 2 weeks (on the metroPCS network).
The problem:
Randomly after 2 weeks the s5 stopped connecting to the metroPCS mobile network even though the network was available (btw metroPCS uses the T-Mobile network). It gives errors such as network not available or cannot register with network.
Things I have tried:
-Im sure the APN settings of the phone have not changed and I have double checked to see if they are correct.
-replacing the sim card with another does not fix the issue
-soft and hard reset of the phone does not fix the issue
-Getting metroPCS to refresh the service on this number does not fix the issue
Other important info:
-This phone was purchased in hong kong but it is from the Philippians according to Kies's firmware information (XTC is the country code)
-It is running a custom allianceROM that must have been installed by someone in hongkong
-The device is rooted (superuser app installed)
-the model number as shown in settings is g900f BUT when attempting to flash with odin the phone displays g900t and fails to flash the latest Philippians verison of kit-kat
I have 2 questions:
1. Any ideas why my network connection has suddenly self destructed (and how to fix)?
2. Would flashing a stock ROM to my s5 help? and if so why is there conflicting information on which model I own (g900t/g900f)?
Please help. I do have some know how on flashing android devices but i've really hit the wall on this one guys!
Cheers,
Yetti.:cyclops:
It's not uncommon for the model # to be different with a custom rom as that is a very easy thing to edit in the build.prop. It should tell you under the battery which one it is. As far as the network issues, check to see if the baseband and IMEI are still there and not listed as unknown or incorrectly. It's possible you could get away with flashing the appropriate modem that matches with your update and that might work better in this region vs the previous one.
Please list the Alliance rom version and baseband version here in case it's relevant to your issue.
More info
Im not sure if this helps but looking through the build.prop file in the system folder my ro.product.local.region=GB
When in recovery mode the region is set to XTC (Philippians) using mutli-csc.
Also my IMEI number seems ok and is NOT blocked.

Baseband and rom etc
Thankls for your reply!
Sorry when you say "under the battery symbol" do you mean in /odins boot script on the device/ or /in settings on the phone/?
Baseband is g900TUVU1ANCH
Build Num: AllianceROM_G900F_XXU1ANCF
If the "no network" issue can be solved with the current firmware that would be the most desirable solution but going through the flashing process may be a good idea for my learning process, and will help with future updates.
Do you think getting back to a stock rom would help me?
tHANKS AGAIN!:cyclops:
Model confirmed to be g900t
Sorry i didn't understand the "under the battery" thing. I was lost in software world. The sticker under the physical battery says SM-900T so i guess that confirms that it is a t-moble verison (and the baseband is therefore correct).
I will try to flash the T-Mobile stock image to the phone and see if that works.
Also i will try to flash a modem (after i work out which one i need).
Cheers, Yetti :cyclops:
Current status.
Flashed the stock T-Mobile firmware to the phone. No success.
Flashed new modem to the phone. No success.
Will go to the T-Mobile store tomorrow to see if they can help (I doubt it but i have to exhaust all the options).
Any more help would be appreciated...
cheers, yetti:cyclops:
By under the battery I mean like to take off the battery cover of the phone and pull the battery out and look at the sticker found there.
G900t.

Yep it says g900t (see above)
As per flashing a modem. I have heard that it is possible to flash any modem for any version of the s5 to the phone. Some work well and others not so much. I have tried 2 T-Mobile modems (baseband) the G900TU1ANCH and the G900TUVU1BNG3 with no success. Do you have any recommendations for a modem to try (or even a custom ROM that might help?)
Cheers,
Yetti :cyclops:
I know that you mentioned they refreshed the service for your number, but do they have the correct IMEI in the system for your account? Metro makes a big deal about that now and you can't just take your SIM from another phone and pop it in a new one and go like you can with pretty much every other service (Cricket is like this too now).

Can i put UK H3G firmware on and American ATT device? AT&T to 3

The reason i want to do this is i own an ATT s6 edge (SM-G925A) but im in the uk and im on the H3G (3) network. It is network unlocked. It would be nice if the phone acted as if i had bought it here (able to update OTA, boot with 3 logo etc). I found the firmware on sammobile (SM-G920F), it was only a single file though, using Odin3 i loaded it into the AP tab, but i just got a fail and a soft brick which i fixed with the original ATT firmware that has 4 files. AP,BL,CP and CSC. I'll admit i'm not sure what they do individually.
I really want to know, is what i'm trying to do even possible and if so, where if i needed, can i get a more complete firmware file? I'd be really grateful of any help or advice, thanks.

PLEASE HELP!! Carrier Switch or Just Flash Carrier Rom?

I have a T-Mobile version of Note 8 purchased from Samsung. T-Mobile unlocked it for me since it was purchased in full and I used it on Verizon with no issues (even received ota updates). My current setup shows SPR/SPR/TMB. I am currently on bootloader v4 and I am not rooted.
AP:N950USQU4CRF3
CP: N950USQU4CRF3
CSC: N950UOYN4CRF3
I am trying to have the latest Note 8 sprint firmware (N950USQS4CRE1).
Current Problems I hope to solve: VoLte does not work, keep getting random MMS error 225, internet super slow although I just got the service and on unlimited plan. Internet is slow in multiple zip codes despite them saying 4g LTE is covered in those zip codes.
What files would I need/Where would I go to get them?
Do I need to "carrier switch?" If so, I don't see any v4 files and after searching the thread I am still at a loss. Any help is appreciated.
