Sometimes I forget to print out my notes for school -.- So I know I can access the notes from my phone and import to s note. But sometimes I just get blank pages after importing. But when I open in polaris office, I can see all pages fine. Anyone know how to fix this? Cause I was also planning on getting the new note 10.1 and if this same thing happens. I don't think I want it. And I barely use s note in the first place.

I know this thread is old and im semi-hi-jacking it. After flahsing a couple roms to be sure, I believe nearly all import functionality (pfd that is) is paired with polaris office 4. roms without 4 or with 5 dont work to import pdfs (snote simply stopped working). I've found the polaris office app to download but im not sure it was the right version of 4.
My new question to anyone is, is there more to the functionality of s-note pdf import other than needing polaris office 4? Specific version? I'm guessing it must be the office that comes with the stock rom. Version that works for me, for certain, is polaris office 4.0.3302.07.
Edit: taking that polaris app from beansbuild22 and installing it in another TW rom such as transnebula tab2.0 wont work. more than the app must be needed
1. Can I set the background to a default image?
2. Can I create and customize a set or "profile" for the different writing tips and colors? For example, if I like using a blue colored grid for working math problems, but a plan notebook paper background for literature (or something) could I create 2 sets or profiles to choose from so that it loads all my presets in the order I set up?
More to come as they come to me...
Thanks in advance.
3. can someone confirm that you can open two instances of snote to view to different notes at the same time?

Gina...to answer your questions...
1. Yes ... You can set the background as a default image
2. Yes ... You can have a blue bread for math problems if you like and yes you can have notebook paper for general text if you prefer both within the same notebook but different pages if you like. If that makes sense?
3. No... I think I answer this question for you yesterday but if not here's your answer again. No you cannot have two instances of s note opened at the same time. You can however have an instance of s note and lecture notes if you so prefer. I'm sure after the developers get ahold of the code they can modify it so you can have two instances of s notes running
I hope this answers your questions

First off THANKS! I appreciate the info. Secondly, I'm sorry, I worded my second question incorrectly. In the first gen model you can have a preset array of writing times in whatever color you want. That way you can just click the S-pen and cycle through the list you made. But I"m finding that a certain set of colors works better for different situations so i was wondering if I could create multiple sets of writing tips so I could have a set for math with pen tips colored to show up well against the blue grid etc.
As for the last one thanks for telling me again. When I heard that I was really REALLY bummed and almost decided not to get the note. I"m hold out hope that a dev will enable multiple instances of s-note or I may switch over to lecture notes completely. with the 25 good play credits I'm thinking I may get it. I like that you can modify the dimensions of the page. Also I've heard that it's a more powerful application all together and considering what i've heard of s-note so far i'm leaning more towards lecture notes.
One last question for anyone out there who knows.. Is it possible to quickly and easily transfer my files from snote to lecture notes while maintaing the tree structure?
Quick question for those who use SNote - does the new version allow you to import files directly from Dropbox or the Gallery instead of going straight to My Files?
Has anyone figured out how to import PDF files in the new version of S Note? I used to do this all of the time in the old version but can't find out how to do it in the latest version.

Wow I didn't even try to work with S Note long enough to realize importing PDF's was (seemingly) gone. I can't figure out how to do it and I wonder if it's at all possible anymore. I went ahead and got lecture notes and I'm actually much happier with it. I hate the new structure of s note... it seems like you can't create folders and view multiple folders and files like you could in the old one. It's a shame too cause I had a LOT of notes in them...
Found it!

To import pdf's into S-note:
-while on the start up screen, click on 'recent notes' in the top left corner
-when that opens, touch 'settings' button and select 'import'
-select from which location you want to import (my files, google drive etc) and what the file kind is (s notes or pdf)
-Done

So are My Files and Google Drive the only options? No ability to pull them from Dropbox yet?

I also would like to know if there is a way to set up presets in Snote. Seeing how the old SNote worked in the first 10.1, I was excited to get the 10.1 2014 Edition for that reason. But I can't even preset my eraser. Not happy about that.
Guess I'm going to have to look into Lecture Notes.

The new s note is horrible imo. Cycling through presets no longer works and the UI isn't easy to work with. I'd really like to be able to create a tree structure of notebooks within folders. I switched to Lecture Notes. Functionally it's much better (than the old one at least. I haven't work in the new one enough to really make the claim).

I totally agree. I tried and tried to make myself like it but it's just not logically functional as what I experienced with my Note 2. Always admired the original 10.1's Snote.
Are you using the free version of Lecture Notes or the pro version? I've tried Lecture Notes and I've noticed the fluidity in that one is much more smooth which I appreciate. Just wanted to know what I would be gaining if I go the Pro version.
Pro version allows you to have more than 2 notebooks. Also, anyone know how to highlight text in lecture notes or import multiple pdfs at a time?

Hey guys this is kind of unrelated to the current discussion but, have any of you been able to use the screen recording function within s-note . I Know the previous note could do this, and that was one of the main reasons I got this Tab. I want to be able to solve a problem and watch the recording I made later. Any help is much appreciated.

I got it to work with the voice recording add-on (haven't purchased the video). If you zoom in during playback it will pan to what you were writing at the time you were talking/recording. Unfortunately it doesn't add text as you go, you start with the finished page and pan around.

To highlight text, I created a custom pencil with the color I wanted, a thick width and chose the 'pencil draws behind other colors option'.
Does anyone know how to take a note in s note in portrait to imitate a sheet of paper? I seem to only be able to do this if I import a pdf.

So I just started playing around with the note taking app, note anytime. Has anyone had experience with it before? I'm finding it very fluid and intuitive, though there is a little more lag writing than with lecture notes. I was just wondering if anyone else uses it, and if so what they liked or disliked. Since I just got this tablet, upgrading from the original note 10.1, I have the ability to start my notebooks for work over
Link to app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.metamoji.noteanytime&hl=en
have been using it for a while
Love the app- something like drawing InDesign. Doesn't lag on my GN8000
Pros:
Digital kabinet (limited)
Pressand hold for select tool
Multiplatform app win8 also
Transparency vector paint aka adobeideas
Flexi editing: select, scale, transform: text, pixels, vector
View anchors aka Prezi
Cons
NO EXPORT TO PDF ON Android only ios
Limited color palette
I'm trying it and am not happy at all. Every time I use the text feature it locks up. I sent a message to them 4 days ago and haven't heard any thing yet

I noticed this too - I found if I switched from using the samsung keyboard it doesn't lock up anymore...
So your using a blue tooth keyboard?
No I meant instead of the keyboard that comes built in with the tablet, switch to use the google keyboard, go keyboard, stylus beta keyboard, etc. I've gotten all to work - it seems like it only locks up with the samsung one.
Update
Note Anytime has a new update and they now have a paid version that costs only $1.99..... You get the add on's from the free version that had cost over 10 bucks.
The free version is now called Note Anytime Lite and it has also been updated so you should check out the new versions.
It is a great note taking app, you can import photo's, you can re-size your handwriting, change the color and style of the whole note or just a small part after you have started, you can copy, paste or delete single letters or whole lines from your handwritten notes.
The free version is good but as soon as I saw that the new paid version was 1.99 I bought it.

Just purchased this, I was already using Note Anytime. There are some useful updates and it's well worth the offer price of £1.23 ($1.99), this will be rising soon, so grad a license now whilst it's so cheap! To add to kkretch's comments above, Not Anytime can also be used to annotate PDFs although the facility to save (back) to a PDF still doesn't exist in the program.
Mazec handwriting keyboard has also been updated although this is a separate purchase, but I can recommend it for the Note.
Hi,
This is something that has been on my wish list for the galaxy note 10.1 (and now the 2014 edition) for a long, long time, as an avid note-taker and professional writer. Does anyone know of a writing/note taking app, as basic or fully featured as you like, that has the organisational ability to have notebooks with multiple notes inside AND the possibility of viewing these notes in a list on one side of the screen, while you edit a note of your choice in the main part of the screen? Basically, so you can set individual notes up as sections or chapters, change their order at will, and jump between them easily? This is one of the key features of the scrivener software I use on my laptop, and I wish I could replicate on my note 10.1.
Many thanks,
Andii

JotterPad X
Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but have you looked at JotterPad X:Writer, it's a nice clean editor that works well on the Note 10.1. It's primarily used for producing clean markdown for web publishing and works well for saving text as blocks.

Hi guys,
as the pen works really phenomenal on our Tablet and My S7+ is like made for drwaing, I wanted to ask which app you use for that?
The already installed Samsung apps are not what I'm really looking for.
On the Computer I use Paintshop Pro to paint and to work on Fotos.
Which one would be best to get the features from PaintShop Pro?
If it is freeware, I would be even more happy
I would recommend SketchBook 100%. Im using it myself and its full of features every artist needs.
SketchBook
Sketchbook was what I found so far.
Fits most of what I need. Just wanted to know if there is something even better.
I mostly want to work on existing Fotos and there are not so many filters and things for that.
I've tried most now and the best I've come across is infinite painter. It has a minimalistic ui but this is deceiving, spend some time with it and you'll find that it's very capable.
I've used Sketchbook for years. It's excellent, but they seem to have stopped updating it since it went 100%
I also use Infinite Painter, it has some really good brushes and the grids/guides are amazing. It's had a major update on iOS and the new features are headed to Android soon.
I've also tried out Clip Studio Pain at the TAB S7+ comes with a free trial. It is amazing, but I don't like the subscription pricing.
If you want to see my drawings, check out @sketchUK on instagram - I usually include the app name in the description, so you can see what I've used.
Infinite Painter FTW
It's as close to a Photoshop android app as I've been able to find.
You might want to check out Krita. It's an open source app designed for desktop, but ported to Android.
With this screen, it should work out well. My device isn't here yet, but the app is free.
ETA: YouTube video link:
Infinite Painter is Crapware - Spyware - Malware
Tried Infinite Painter after reading here. First of all I got alarm about two trackers. After starting message appears that the app does not run without play services.
So far so good.
Tried to uninstall the app to find out that it was not possible to uninstall.
I had to do a factory reset to get the app off my tablet.
The device is new and untouched, I should not have to use adb tool to actually get rid of this crapware.
Keep your fingers off this app
I seem to always find myself back using Medibang paint. it's for the most part free and easy to navigate and use also with a whole online community and database of online tools and downloads. Cloud saving. Frequent updates.

Krita
Krita
Krita is a professional FREE and open source painting program. It is made by artists that want to see affordable art tools for everyone.

..and to see just how capable it is, always go to the user manual; that's where the real story is told.
Welcome to the Krita 5.0 Manual!

Not sure about S-pen compatibility, though...
EDIT: I did a search of this thread for 'krita', saw no results, made this post, then saw that it was already mentioned by @undrwater

From here:
The developers of the editing program have converted the full version of Desktop 4.29 to Android environment. This implies that the interface is not 100% suitable for touch control, but works great on tablets with a stylus, as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy Tab. We tested Krita on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and the feeling was very positive: the app not only allows editing of images and lines, it is also very well suited for use with the S Pen. It even detects different pressure levels for drawing.

Krita is working really well with S Pen.
You can also deactivate touch input for any painting and then your palm will not "paint" while using the S Pen.
Also the pressure is really nicely configurable within Krita.
Can fully recommend this app, thanks for mentioning it here - as I didn't know it before
I'm also looking for a good drawing app right now. I want to try it and learn how to draw in the application. This will make my work easier and faster. For now, I only draw on paper and improve my skills. The drawing ideas on partnersinfire.com help me with this. However, I understand that now is the time that I need to learn to be friends with technology. There are many areas where all artists work in applications, and I understand this. So if anyone can recommend a good app, I'll be grateful.
I’m using a samsung galaxy tab s7+ (12,4 inches),and you can use clip paint studio painting app on it, which you can synchronise with your pc/mac. The stylus is great and drawing experience is excellent.
Here is an article that should help you choose a android drawing app: https://pctechtest.com/20-best-digital-art-drawing-software
