Thinking about getting this. Need help - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

yeah im on note 4 right now.....and i sort am interested in v10 but i would only buy it if there is a significant improvement in it from note 4... but you guys are using it.... neeed some help to decide..... what are the flaws of v10 and pros over note 4??

I used note 4 and was fighting with myself whether to get V10 or not. So to put myself out of the misery, I decided to get the V10.
Pros:
- no more sleepless night thinking whether to switch or not
Cons:
- u have to spend some money.
Well, V10 can make phone calls, take pics, listen to music, all u expect in a phone. Battery is similar to note 4. There are improvements over Note 4 (of course there must be, otherwise LG wouldnt release it)

I didn't have the note 4 but rather the N6 and I have to say if it ain't front facing it's not great... It is loud, but that doesn't matter in a crowed area.

I had the Note 4 and then went to the G4 and then jumped to the V10. Personally for me (others will probably have different experiences), I found the speakers on the G4 the loudest even though it's in the back compared the the V10. The V10 is almost the same as the Note 4 to me. Camera wise, I prefer the V10's camera over the Note 4 because of manual mode.

[Q] Which phone? N5 or Note3

Hey all,
I've been using a lumia 1020 for the last month or so. However being a long term Android user I'm really starting to think this was a bad choice.
Now ive been thinking about what to get next, but Android.
I've been looking at the recent Lg Nexus 5 and the Note 3.
Past phones I've had are.
Galaxy nexus
Xperia Z
Note 2
S4
Ive been mulling over the idea or the two phones above and i really dont know which one would suit me better.
I have been thinking about running a blog for something to-do as in the winter months are pretty boring where i am, I'm also into photography, the rest of the time i use the phone primarily for internet use, rather than a phone.
The nexus is raw android and i prefer that to touchwiz purely based on looks, not functionality, as this always something that bothered me on Samsung phones, obviously speed is affected too.
I like the camera and screen on the note 3, as the camera was good on my S4, and the extra screen space makes sense for internet use, however the N5 isn't exactly a small screen and i can tether my tablet.
But the battery life is a serious question as while the Nokia is windows phone it lasts 3 days, i need a lot of screen time and plenty of standby too.
One of the biggest things is price in the uk a N5 is £349 while the Note 3 is £530 (I've used 32gb models here)
So what you pick? Or what should i pick, if you need to know more about my usage to answer this please do ask.
Thanks to everyone who helps.

nexus 5 will have LTS,if you plan to use the Phone for more than 1 or 2 years i suggest N5. or else note
Personally I would (and am going to) go for the N5. Not a fan of phones with a screen over 5" or Samsung phones, so for me it's a no-brainer.

Budgets not a problem, but it's worth mentioning as it depends on whether the features are worth the extra.
I will probably keep the Phone for 1/ 2 years, as I change when something new comes out.
Well i'm not interested in the Sony, as the Z wasn't a very good phone and broke, physically twice.

Yeah see this is why i'm so torn,
The Samsung is a excellent phone, however Touchwiz was designed by Stevie Wonder in regards to the colours, but the actual phone underneath that is a powerhouse with some nice functions and a huge screen with excellent battery life, While the Nexus 5 is the raw experience I love but i'm concerned about the quality of the handset and battery life.
As long as the camera is capable of shots like the Note 3 i'm cool with that, the GF will probably still have the Lumia 1020 should I need something exceptional.

G2 vs S6 Edge...App Test (Video) G2 keeps up Nicely!!!!

Something I think will make several G2 owners Smile

Enjoy your flagship phone ladies and gents.
The G2 is still a BEAST in 2015 :good:
Now imagine it had 5.1.1, it would be at least 30% faster because of no memory leaks. I remember jumping from 5.0 to 5.1 on my Nexus 4 and WOW the difference was HUGE

Even on my wife's Moto E 2015, the jump from 5.0 to 5.1.1 was pretty amazing. That little thing is blazing fast now.
As far as G2, I'm running CM12.1 and it is slightly faster than stock 5.0.2. Not that much though.
Yes the G2 aged pretty well
I bougth an S6 (non-edge) a few weeks ago but sent it back after a week because for the price it simply wasn't a significant improvement over the G2 (and battery life on the S6 is a joke...).
On the stock rom the S6 felt slower than the G2 and there's no CM/AOSP for the Samsung Exynos phones (plus I really don't like the hardware buttons).
I have both the s6 edge and the note four, and I tell you, the LgG2 keeps up with them both.
And it came with Lte which was missing in my version of the Note 4.
It's smooth, great on multitasking, has a bright, popping screen and excellent battery life.
The one thing is that mine's the 16g - woefully inadequate these days.
Still, I have two brand new batteries ordered and some new Casing - I'm keeping this phone forever.
Even the edges of the screen are slightly curved, and I kid you not - the glass they used, and the coating they applied is better than anything out there at the moment.
Ok. I gush.

I feel a slowdown on stock 5.0.2 when i multitask (instagram-chrome-messenger-youtube), something i dont experience on 4.4.2 or CM12.1 (but its buggy)
Nice to see the G2 perform so well.
But what about the signal strength?
The S6 shows signal and the G2 does not.

G2 is a dream come true, the closest to a perfect phone, shame it has to die software wise. LG really made a stellar phone to trump the S4 and it did in every way. Size, buil, the camera, display and even software is much better and snapdragon 800 is still present in todays flagships with slight frequency increase. Hell, even the G3 is basicaly a G2 with 2K display. Smartphones have reached their apex in 2013 - 2014, there is no practical need to upgrade them hardware wise, only software. But we know how that goes. A great shame But kudos to LG for making this phone.
Well, it's the G2
That's one reason I love my G2.
And with Android 5.1 or 6 it will become even better!
Best phone ever from the best phone brand!

This is what I was looking for!
I assume you have an Exynos Note 4 as well.
For a while I was considering getting a N910c but started work on my G2's glass only repair to bring it back to life again.
Long story short I have decided to hold off on getting a Note 4 bc the G2 is still a damn good phone I don't have any reason to.
Its so fast it was way ahead of its time

G2 Has a great Radio.
Currently replacing the screen on my G2 and have been using my Moto G LTE for a while.
Motorola IMO still makes the best radios for cell phones since they've been doing it for so long.
The Moto G gets a signal in places where other phones (iphone included) die.
The G2 I have (D801) is the only phone I can say I've seen come close to the Motorola especially if you use one compatible with your Network.
Its a damn good phone AND tablet.
For the price its a STEAL.
This is coming from someone who bought it new at full price 600.00 back in 2013.

The radio on the G2 is excellent. It's very, very quick, and the management is excellent - it locks on very fast and uses it very efficiently.
The Note 4 is an excellent phone too though, for the price now. Just make sure you're looking at the LTE supported version. The camera is far better than the G2, and that stylus....
Still, every time I use the G2, I'm surprised. It's quick and smooth and built like a solid block. It goes everywhere with me, and more often than not, it saves the day.
And did I say it's quick? It's quick.
I'm keeping mine forever.

outside of the camera, how does the G2 compare to the Note 4 in day to day usage, speed, graphics etc?
If this phone had 5.1 stock it would do better than in 5.0.2. It is like 25-30% faster and more responsive

Outside the camera and the stylus, the G2 is excellent. It's faster in many aspects, the scrolling is very smooth especially on Lollipop, the RAM management is far superior. Day to day, you just whip out the phone and you're up and running. The G2 had a wonderful screen - however, here, the Note 4 is clearly in a different league.
The G2 will take everything you throw at it though, and chuck it back at you quickly, and keep doing it all day.
It's a wonderful, wonderful phone - even the camera with X-cam is better than most. Anyone who's had the G2 and then moved will tell you immediately, that things are just not the same.

iMO Note 4 is much better than G2, G2 is still best for its price.Note 4 performance is slower than G2 but it open apps much faster than G2 and multitasks 3,4 apps easily. Dont know why note 4 display is little bit greenish than G2.For gaming Note 4 is far superior than G2 in smoothness, boths have not so much graphics differences.Battery life on note 4 is worse than G2.IMO G2 has much better battery life than Note 4.

G2 has an IPS panel screen which is more realistic in color reproduction than amoled - any graphic designer will choose an IPS panel monitor over any LCD/LED one anytime...
amoled, on the other side, is better in contrast and brightness... i personally like G2 screen more...
Yes, the G2 keeps up with the S6 Edge nicely. Just imagine though, it someone had managed to load the Nexus 5's 4.4.4 stock onto it? That's a whole extra 20% speed right there. :victory:
Yes I could not even believe I am still using a G2 though it still 6 months old to me, I really wanted this phone ever since its release.
my only gripe are the following;
- on CM12.1 and Stock it suffers from thermal throttling.
- telephony is not so good, (other end could not hear me properly on either phone or headset mode).
- 16GB is not even enough anymore, USB OTG can cripple battery life.
-Can someone please convert a nexus 5.1.1 stock rom port for the LG G2 please? otherwise lets not forget our phone is a beefed up Nexus 5.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
According to me, it is one of the best phones in this price range. Overall performance is very much satisfactory
My Mi Max 2 arrived two days ago, i'm really really happy, battery lasts two days with strong use, and everything is smooth. It was not so easy to go through the unlock procedure but now i'm done.
Me to, very happy so far. Coming from Samsung Note4, and that seems to be the end of Samsung phones for me!

I've a Note 3 running Resurrection rom. Just got this last Friday and love the bigger screen, I remember getting the note 1 and nobody could believe the size, and now the note 3 is just about average, lol. Anyways I'll be missing the stylus and removable battery, but other than that it seems good. Just waiting for the 72 hrs to pass so that I can root and unlock the thing. For less than half the price of a Note 8 and the same price here as a second-hand several year old note 4 I don't think you can do wrong.

Buddy, How is the screen quality conpared to the note 3?
It's amoled vs lcd / 380dpi vs 344dpi. Im really considering this one or the LG V20?
Is it too big for pockets?
Screen seems ok to me, it's not as vivid but wil do the job browsing and reading pdfs which is my main use. I've thousands of photos too and they seem ok. Sizewise it's longer and sticks out a little bit from my pockets but not enough to bother me.
I am in love with this device, But bit disappointing with MIUI which uses more ram. Waiting for stable custom rom.:fingers-crossed:
I have a Redmi Note 3. I'm looking for a larger phone. My mom wants to take my Redmi once I get a new phone.
My only concern with this phone is custom ROM support as I don't like using MIUI. Are the chances this will be supported by LineageOS officialy sometime soon? (Mi Max 1 seems to have great custom ROM support). If yes, I'll be buying this phone right away.
Also, I'm confused. Some pages mention this phone has NFC and some don't. Does it have NFC. Doesn't affect my descision to buy this phone but still.

Yes, only thing I'm missing is the picture quality from Samsung, even though it was very much slower to focus, noticed specially when scanning bar codes. In very dark envioment it can be seen that it has ips screen and not amoled. But it cost 1/5 of a new Samsung Note, so i don't care. Specially since my Note4 failed with the "mmc_failed" error after 2 years, and Samsung wont emit it's a production failure.

Decent but the lack of multi color LED notification is a big downer.
Battery was awesome
but a little unconformtable when heat
10 -- except for the battery ...
I got the phone cheap $229 4/64 (it was 199 yesterday at Gearbest). TOTAL LOVE. Perfect build quality. Fast. Gets a great signal on AT&T (the only signal in my neighborhood). Better than my Samsung despite AT&T's claims it would barely work at all. Yes, it says H+ on the display instead of 4g, but I suspect I was getting H+ already, marketed as 4g, which is what they do in the states.
What's more, I'm getting Volte now with AT&T prepaid -- prepaid customers don't get Volte! (Not that it's much use with this carrier).
In call volume is fine and the speaker quality is great. It wasn't loaded with crapware and unrooted, I was able to disable some system apps (some apps, like the calculator, are terrific).
Regarding the battery: I got a lemon. It's lasting a full day, maybe a day and a half -- but I'm a light user! No gaming, not even online much. I don't run anything except for downloaded audiobooks. But it goes to show you how much I love the phone that I wouldn't even consider sending it back for warranty service. All the way to China? I'd be without it for days, maybe weeks!
It's not perfect. I can't believe TV out is missing -- no way to connect to a monitor with OTG, no matter how many adaptors you use, I'm told. And Xiaomi's firmware prevents you from doing full backups or downloading nonessential updates unless you're on wifi. They claim you can toggle this, but they're sneaky buggers ... you toggle, it says downloading, but when you look for the completed file it says 'scheduled'. I *****ed and moaned in the forum, but hundreds have cried before me, to no avail.
There are a few odd little paternalistic issues with the OS -- not that ATT and Samsung don't dictate what I can do with my device and service -- they're a thousand times worse -- but their preferred forms of control are motivated by profit, not concern for what's 'good' for me. What do they care if I guzzle data?
On the other hand, Xiaomi employees actually monitor the forums. After the major software update, they solicited bug reports and issued fixes for them in a couple of days -- even for the minor bugs.
On a 1 to 10 scale, the phone is a 20, and I'm thrilled to learn they have a wide range of electronics to check out because -- so long Samsung, you suckered this consumer for the last time.
I do love Xiaomi Mi Max 2 except one thing. I can't unlock bootloader on MIUI 9 Global Stable, I get the error 86006 (with some Chinese letters). I know that it can be fixed by flashing on developper rom but I would like to get it fixed without flashing the device.

Yep, I had the same problem. I don't understand why Xiaomi does this.
I ended up giving in and installed a fresh dev ROM and then it worked perfectly.
Loving mine in Canada. I am a heavy user minus gaming(unless you count Scrabble) and I get 2 full days on a charge consistently. I stream sports and movies onto it, lots of music and other normal surfing/social media stuff and it doesn't get hot and the battery just keeps on going. It's early but so far I would definitely recommend the phone and the company. Excellent build quality and attention to detail. This phone was made with me in mind

Is it really worth the price

It depends on what's important to you. I cherish battery life, so I went with the S9+. I also felt that size was not a huge difference.
To me, it beats out the note 8. Less weight, faster, and better battery(by far, for me anyway)

Besides the camera and screen what other difference does it have if we compare it with the s8/+ and note 8? Will the gear vr of s7 work fine with the s9/+? Please share some portrait shots from both the cameras.

Get the note 8 I've just moved from iPhone 8 plus to the note 8 (I did get the s9 plus and returned it) speed wise it's on par , it's now got Oreo on am betting at least 24hrs of heavy use, never stutters and camera is among the best I've ever seen (I am a photographer and use Nikon DSLR) as everyday shooter it's brilliant
Very have 20% off for next few weeks , as long as it's on 12 months interest free u get 20% credit back so it's about £630 well worth the money and that's from a long time Apple fan boy

Never been a fan of the Note series. Why did you return the S9 plus? How is Note 8's camera when compared to the S9 plus?
no. get the s8 plus. differences are the camera and fingerprint placement really

S9+ worth the extra cash to Mi 8?

Hey guys, actually I'm using a s9+ for 1 month now. Got it with a contract for just 470 euro. But this night I got a MI 8 from Amazon WHD for just 170 Euro. So I'm thinking about selling my s9+ for about 400 Euro and using the Mi 8 instead. What would you guys do? Can't decide . Both phones are great. Tested the Mi 8 few months ago.
Both phones are great, maybe you can tone down the display to FHD+ on your S9 plus for a week or two. If your eye doesn't hurt, go with it. Some just had a little bit pixel sensitive, some had speaker preference, just try what's best for u.
Personally, I can't bear 3 days of FHD, love the stereo speakers, rarely use camera.

FHD was activated on default on my s9+. Using it since I got it. No issues so far. . Yes, any of these phones have their little advantages. S9 stereo and headphone jack but Mi 8 with great face unlock (soo good when you used to it) and imo the better os. Tjaa, um not making progress with my decision . I'm planning to use the phone for few years. So the most important thing would be reliability for me I guess. Idk about updates. I'm using the s9+ with oreo and immediately deactivated updates bc the new pie with One UI sucks and is lacking of features which oreo got.
Seems to me, u don't care bout gimmick. QHD, wireless charging, samsung added software doesn't concern u at all. Mi8 would be perfect for u. Price different would be just added bonus.

Hm guess you're absolutely right. But with the brand new s9+I got 2 years warranty directly through Samsung. The Warehousedeal Mi 8 got Amazons service. But I'm not sure what they are going to do if my phone will be broken after 1.5 year.. ^^ I mean with that cheap price I could give it a try. That's my main concern. . My last Samsung a galaxy note 4 lasted 2.5 years for me before I broke it myself because of changing the frame. :/. And I'm not sure if Xiaomis will run so fine for such a long time. and heard bad stuff about MI 8s low light performance. I'll run few comparisons with GCam on MI 8 and on s9+.
Well, u can buy 3 Xiaomi for the price of 1 Samsung. It won't have to last 2.5 years, just buy 1 every year. Bonus latest hardware.
I own both and still using them both. The answer is yes.

Ok thx for your reply. And why would you say the s9+ is worth the extra bucks?
Sorry for the late reply, battery life, camera quality, sound quality, build quality, display

Thank you. Even if I only paid 170 for the Mi 8, I'll send it back later. Pretty sure that the s9+ is the more reliable device for many years. (and 24 month with contract for 460 Euro in total was damn a good offer.) I could imagine that the mi 8 will run in some problems in the future. And I never thought that the difference between full HD Amazon prime and no HD (Mi 8) is that crazy! I know it's just small devices but sorry, the video quality with the Mi 8 is a no go and helped me to come to a decision. Also mi 8s low light performance is bääh. Glad with my s9+now. Thanks all fr your answers.
