I dont have a 5.0, but i can answer that some people have reported it being a bit choppy on ics because theres not hardware acceleration yet. Jackpotclavin is working on porting the 3.0 kernel to it, which will enable hardware acceleration.
Out of the box the SGP 5 does not have ICS. You have to put the ICS ROM that is in development on it. This appears to be a work in progress.
I use it primarily as a small tablet and it is exceptional. It is just small enough to slip into a shirt pocket and you have you tablet with you. Flash is good. Websites are readable and interactive.
Sound quality is good but not very loud. There are two speakers with the main speaker on the back. If you put it in a folio case the sound is a bit muffled. A regular case or no case and the sound is fine. With the headphones the sound is loud and clear.
Gaming performance is good.
Build quality is very good. It is very sturdy and the display screen is resistant to scratches. There has been debate if the screen is Gorilla Glass - it likely is not but it is proving to be as durable.
Go into any Best Buy and play with one and you will see a lot of this for yourself - other than ICS related questions.

1.) Don't waste your time with ICS... Gingerbread is just fine for the time being. Putting yourself on an unstable OS is probably one of the worst things you can consider when buying a product. Unless your looking to be a tester of it, stick with Gingerbread until the bugs are knocked out.
2.) It's fantastic as a tablet. It also works as a VoIP phone if you have the right means/apps. I haven't had any trouble viewing websites on it; Flash is VERY smooth; HTML5 runs fine as far as I know.
3.) Battery life under Gingerbread is great, I can't give exact numbers, but it lasts all day for me with a lot of use. And even when it's low on battery, it stays low for a LONG time. I sat at 5%-10% for another 1hr 1/2 before.
4.) The sound quality with headphones is fine. Music sounds great. The speaker is actually REALLY good compared to an iPod Touch or equivalent device. As far as small device speakers go, they don't disappoint that much.
5.) Gaming performance is optimal in most areas. Emulators run great! Almost all games for N64oid run at full frames, Mario 64 is flawless and works great if you connect a PS3 Sixaxis controller via Bluetooth (on-screen controls are another option). All other emulators seem to work flawlessly (Note: I haven't tested a TON of games, but I've tested the most popular). Temple Run is laggy if you have too much running in the background, but works great if you free up some RAM. Angry Birds (anything) runs full speed. It can also display some pretty nice graphics if you use the Chainfire3d app with Tegra settings + MSAA 4x.
6.) For an 800 x 480 display resolution, it looks amazing. SUPER AMOLED/Blah blah blah is nice, but to be entirely honest, this screen looks great the way it is considering it's not an $800 unsubsidized smartphone (price is an estimate for smartphones off contract with that screen type). The 5.0inch screen realastate is also a nice plus, It's great for viewing Netflix, browsing the web, playing games, or just watching videos in general. Pinch and zoom is very fast, so browsing is easy regardless of the resolution not being extremely high.
7.) As far as build quality goes... it's a lot of plastic and a fake silver rim-- but it's solid and looks nice all-in-all. I can't count how many times I've dropped this and it's survived with only one small dent in the bottom right corner of the silver rim (out of like 20+ drops from waste height onto soft-ish floor/tile) I'd give survivability an 8/10 in most cases.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask! I've been an avid owner of this device since release and know almost every possible way to maximize the usability of it to match that of devices that are a little more powerful. The Galaxy player @ 1.5GHz is a beast to fear for the price range.
Well I've ordered one now, can't wait to see how great it is.
I have a 4.0 and a 5.0. I use the 4 for audio stuff like podcast and audio books and I use the 5 for all my video and ebook needs. I love them both and anything to avoid an "i" anything is fine in my book.
Hey guys GTA vice city is on android
Yet not available on play store!
But here is a video
I've been trying it, since i couldn't wait for official release (i'll buy it if i like it as soon as it is avaliable),
100% resolution, max details gets quite laggy when rainning. I've tried 80% resolution, high detail, and it keeps lagging. Maybe its because my ****ty version, thats what it is. And moreover,i though graphics would be way better. The textures are worse than Counter Strike, a 1999 pc game.
Thread closed for warez links. Let's wait until it's released on the Play Store to have a discussion about the gameplay on XDA.
Now available on play!
Smooth like butter.

agreed very nice to play esp with xbox controller

That just makes me think I got a faulty device more. My battery life sucks, too. So, is there any benchmark app for Nexus 10 that I can use to make sure?

Hmm, on GTA III, anything above 50% was a noticeable FPS drop, with 100% being the worst FPS drop. It was consistently low FPS though, which some people might of been able to stand (I couldn't lol). Not sure if that's the same case with Vice City or not though, but I have a feeling it will be.

Actually Vice City runs much better than GTA III on the Nexus 10, for whatever reason .
Here's a video review of Vice City on the N10:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjKLORW0MlQ
Check out this guys channel for excellent hands on Nexus 10 reviews and comparison as well. He compares it to the iPad 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, and Transformer Prime in almost every facet imagineable. Web browsing, general speed, gaming, hardware design, screen resolution and brightness, boot up time, camera tests, hdmi out, etc.. etc... Probably the most thorough and unbiased reviews of the Nexus 10 out there.

No just got an ota cable and it works out the box
Runs great on my N10 at the highest settings. A lot better than on my one x which has a much smaller screen!
Hi I just got one of these EasyCast dongles :
http://www.gearbest.com/networking-communication/pp_194421.html
My question is what kind of quality should I expect from the Note 3 ?
I just tried it and it's pretty bad, it shows the desktop but at a very low resolution, nowhere near 1080p, colours are awful, videos play choppy and have garbled compression, games lag, colours also look crap and have the same intermittent pixelated garbled look.
Am I expecting too much from this ? There is a 5g version would that be any better ?
http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_235030.html
Currently I just use it for casting my screen when editing files and moving things around, I have a mouse and keyboard paired.
Beyond that the quality is abysmal.
Is there anything I can do to improve ?
thx
After a bit of digging around I found this :
https://youtu.be/0Yt2pho5q5w?t=295
That's exactly the same issue I'm having, the consensus seems to be they are utter crap.
Ok, looks like I answered my own question, these things are only good for browsing and showing desktop, Airplay is unusable.
"Chromecast-lookalike 'junk' dongles"
Got a Chromecast 2 and it's quite good with redmi note 3 pro. Little lag is present and it's not for the gaming but YouTube photos and casting movies with bubbleupnp
Yeah, I've been reading up on it all today, they all have a significant amount of lag.
The best "mirroring" device seems to be the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter V2, it's straight forward and mirrors with the least lag of all the devices on the market.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM7ET3Vylng
If that's the case, there doesn't seem to be any currently on the market that are fast enough for mirroring games, but this would save me having to plug my hdmi and configure the tv every time I wanted to watch a movie on my pc.
As usual it seems the chinese have infested the market with cheap clones that don't come close to what the advertising says, gonna have to dig around for a few days.
Get a TV box and gamepad and you're done. Some very good boxes for approx $60. I gave up on my Chromecast and bought two tv boxes.
Yeah, I'm on the verge of ordering a MEMOBOX MX MAX

I hadn't realized how far these things had improved.
So my daydream headsets have arrived from the Verizon promo. So far I'm pretty impressed with the experience and the build quality. The pixel having only 1080p has made for a somewhat odd "looking through a screen door" view, but the motion and controls are great. I have never tried vr before so I have nothing to compare it to. I did compare the nexus 6 and moto z play with the pixel in the daydream headset (granted the nexus and moto were using cardboard app). The nexus shows a slightly better picture than the moto and the moto slightly better than the pixel despite the pixel and moto z play having the same resolution and the moto being half inch larger. The pixel however showed the best motion which should be no surprise because it's the only one with daydream support.
After an hour or so of farting around in vr I felt just an odd feeling with my eyes. Not a head ache but similar to the feeling of driving for hours on end. I believe this could be a result of the lower resolution. Anyway, I'm very pleased with my included with purchase daydream headset and will probably use it a few times a month as time permits and new apps and games come out.
I received mine today as well promo from Project Fi and I must say I am also very impressed. I played around with the YouTube VR as well as some games. Great quality, and super comfortable when wearing the headset. YouTube VR is probably my most favorite. Puts your right in the action of the video. Super sweet.
Kind of wish I got an XL but only when using daydream. And even then it really isn't an issue. I love my pixel and my daydream, and Google home, and Chromecast.... Yeah

I love Daydream so far. The low resolution is really noticeable if you look at it, but it's also easy to ignore if you don't, so.... My biggest complaint is that it's awkward to run existing VR (Cardboard) apps, since they won't show up in the Daydream Launcher. You have to put your phone in the headset, but not close it, wait for the NFC tag to launch Daydream, then switch back to your real launcher, run the app you want, close the headset, and finally put it on. Quite a ridiculous process just to launch an app! Someone needs to make a standard app launcher for Daydream.
Similarly, whenever a VR app asks for a permission, you can seemingly approve it with the Daydream remote, but then you have to remove the headset and approve it again by clicking on the screen. Very bizarre.
The Google Play Movies app is disappointing ,since you can't zoom or move the screen at all, forcing you to look straight ahead, instead of putting it on and staring up at the ceiling while lying in bed, which I enjoy doing with YouTube videos. I also wish it had the curved screen feature.
Hopefully things will continue to improve as time goes on. Most of the Cardboard apps seem to have been forgotten about and not updated in a year or more, and the Daydream controller is not compatible with whatever control mechanism Cardboard used (I guess it had a trigger button?), so many of those apps don't work well.
Just turn off NFC and you can use the cardboard apps to your heart's content. Also FYI you can use the USB A to C adapter and plug in an Xbox remote for truly nausea inducing gaming fun!
My concern is how incredibly hot the phone gets. I get worried every time I put it in the headset. And then it's only a matter of time before the "phone is getting too hot" message starts appearing.
My Pixel gets real warm in the Daydream gizmo, but certainly not "too hot to touch" as I saw one reviewer claim. Nothing to compare it to, so I don't know nothing about no screen door. I did take off my wet-apply matte screen protector because it made the image "grainy".
I played with it for awhile, looked at all the content that's available, etc. Pretty cool, but as far as I'm concerned it still belongs on the "gee whiz" pile. "Cool" only takes you so far, and I don't see any killer app for it at this point.
Actually, my 7-year old granddaughter is getting more use from the Daydream gizmo than I am.
Edit: Thx to tjarvis for that tip about turning off NFC to view Cardboard content; makes sense, but I hadn't thought it through.
360/3D video and games is the only killer apps for VR. The "big" screen apps (WSJ, CNN) is a joke, I rather read articles and watch 2D videos on my 24" monitor.
360 video is kind of fun to watch, but will the interest last?
I only tried 2 free VR games, so can't comment on the benefit of a real VR game over old fashion non-VR games.
My Pixel is so hot that Daydream app pops up a message saying it will slower the rendering, then the VR is so laggish that it is completely unusable. But I am using bluetooth earphone, I suspect the bluetooth earphone is drawing too much power in addition to VR.
My first impression of Google Daydream - VR is dead on arrival. Nothing to do with Pixel, nothing to do with the Daydream viewer, something is fundamentally wrong with VR technology.
1. Your eye ball has to stare straight or you will lose focus. It is very unnatural turning your head without turning your eye ball. This alone probably kill VR.
2. Watching VR is just like watching 3D, in fact, VR is 3D, so you get the same problem of watching 3D. Your eyes gets very tied after using it for a while. You can't use it for a long time.
Regarding Pixel and Daydream in particular, it's pretty good. The lag is much better than Nexus 5 on a Cardboard. Since I am not using XL, the screen resolution is not very dense, I can see the LCD grid, it is a bit annoying, but your brain soon trained to ignore it.
The Daydream VR is light and comfortable. I can wear my glasses on top of it, and yes, I need my glasses, because the lens change the focus depth of the screen. I find the screen a bit blur if I don't wear my glasses.
The little remote control is hit-or-miss, it keeps drifting towards the left. I don't know it is a software or hardware issue, maybe it will go away after a reboot.
VR uses lots of battery and the phone gets quite warm. It is so warm that the Daydream app actually pops up a message saying the phone is too hot, so it will slow down the rendering. But I am using bluetooth earphone at the same time, I suspect using bluetooth headphone draws too much power, I will try it with a wire headphone later.
In term of VR apps, watching 360 video is pretty cool, but you can't watch it for too long and you eyes get tired. The "big" screen apps is a joke, I rather read news or watch normal 2D video on my 24" monitor. Games is pretty cool as well, but again I can't play too long because my eyes gets pretty tired.
In summary, I think VR is just the new 3D, a fad that everyone will try it once, then move on
I solved the problem that the controller keep drifting to the left. Here is the step to reset/recalibrate the controller.
Plug it in to a USB charger (with power), press the (-) button and home button at the same time.
Would love to try a daydream headset for at least once but i will probably just ignore it after using it a few times so it probably doesn't worth the money for me, btw will there be third party headset available?

My problem with the daydream is that it is not immersive enough. I don't think the problem of having to fix your gaze forward would exist with a sufficiently wide field of view. But right now this is enough that I would not recommend someone buy the Daydream and skip out instead for a more baked solution like PSVR
Daydream VR is daydreaming about VR
Oh yeah... just got the 2017 version and it's still pretty much in sync with all the problems you have pointed out...
But then, I think it's the implementation of Daydream VR rather than VR as a whole... even Gear VR, with same design principles, does it much better.
Yeah, I wouldn't base all VR off of the Daydream View. Get more into VR like Oculus or Vive and a lot of issues with VR disappear. BUT, VR is still in it's infancy. It's really awesome right now but still has a way to go. No different than video game consoles. They started off ****ty and now we get near movie quality games and graphics.
