I tried searching, but couldn't find anything quite like I'm experiencing...
So, I have an Evo 4G LTE, completely stock. (Pretty much a noob, never tried flashing or installing any roms or anything). I installed the 4.3 Jellybean RUU from my computer that HTC provided to upgrade a while back. A few days ago, I came back to my phone and it was completely off. I tried restarting it, but I only get the white HTC logo screen. It's stuck at that screen. I've tried going into the bootloader and hitting Factory Reset, but it just sticks there and doesn't do anything. I can no longer use the volume keys to scroll up or down, until I hold down the power to restart it yet again. When I would go back to the bootloader and select Recovery, I would just get the red triangle and I finally found while searching that from there I can hold the up volume and power to get to the Recovery settings. While there I've tried both wiping the partition cache and the Factory Reset option there. That Factory Reset acted like it was doing something, but only for a couple of seconds. It acted like it was successful, but upon rebooting the phone again, I still only get the blank white HTC screen and not the normal one that says "quietly brilliant." I really don't know what else to try. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you tried re-running the RUU? I'd try that. Otherwise, you can always unlock your bootloader, and then install a custom recovery (I recommend TWRP). If you can get that far, you can just install a custom ROM from there anyway. Ditch the old stock altogether.

Yeah, that crossed my mind, but when I looked it up on my computer, I realized that it is an .exe file. When I run it, it requests that I have the phone on and to connect it to the computer to install it, which I can't do because the phone won't turn all the way on. Thanks for the suggestions. I'l definitely have to look into the steps to do that. I know there are several different options for ROMs. What would you recommend to be the easiest/most reliable?
Thanks again!

Try my newest CM 12.1. You'll need to install TWRP first.

hello, my name is shahrukh and i need some help. i downloaded animmod (from 4shared) and then i donwloaded busybox. then i pressed blur and then it asked me if i want to reboot it. i pressed yes. this is when the problem starts. It turned off and then it turned on half way and then it turned off. it kept doing that and then i just left it for the night. in the morning it was not doing anything. when i held the power button it turned off and on for like two times and then turned off. i cant even start it up so i have no idea what to do.
i don"t know what to do
please help!!!!
Okay, we need details, describe exactly when "halfway on" is. We need your full model number and rom version (if you know it). Have you tried plugging it in to charge? Does it show anything now that you try to boot it? try holding volume up and powering on to enter recovery menu.
details
ok so when it turns on it says samsung. then after like 10 seconds it turns off. it does that for a few times and then it just goes in a black screen. the model number is YP-G7OC/NAW. when i plug it in to charge it goes on and off two times and then off. if it has low battery it just shows the sign. as for the rom i don't think i have any. i just rooted it using superoneclick. if it goes to recovery mode what do i do?
thanks!
(you got me really fired up when i saw the recovery menu!)
If you can get to recovery menu, try a factory reset, and clear cache. I am not sure if there is a recovery rom for your device, you should check samfirmware.com
tried both of them...no luck. and i couldn't find a recovery rom on samfrimware.com.
Your device has capacitive or mechanical home button?
it has a capacitive home button...the usa version

The phone boots in recovery?
If so, I can investigate a little more what's happening.
I'll try to post a return-to-stock image soon... The problem is that mine is cluttered with crap that the zergRush exploit added (it insisted on installing busybox instead of just rooting...)
(I'm not sure, but I think someone else already posted a stock zImage and system image...)
Here is the post about fixing capacitive buttons. A quick search of forum should have found it.

nooooooo!!! you guys have all got it wrong. first of all it doesnt boot in recovery. the only way to get in recovery mode is when it shows the battery sign i hold "up volume"+ power button.and the capaciative button is completely fine. im just stuck in a bootloop (i think) and it has nothing to do with a broken capacitive button! i will try to post a video today to show you guys exactly whats happening.
i kind of had the same problem, one time i thought i had entropy's kernel on and i had CWM well i didn't but i still thought i had so i tried rebooting into recovery using the terminal:
su
reboot recovery
then i turned off and went to this weird recovery menu it had four options, reboot system, apply update from SD card, wipe data partition, and power off and it had a ton of red letters and words saying like, couldn't access data partition or cache partition and couldn't access /data/media, or system, and then i just turned it off because i wouldn't let me choose an option, and then i got stuck in a loop but not during when it says SAMSUNG mine happened during the animation music part that look like fireworks and then SAMSUNG would light up blue then go through it again and 2 more times then go black and i tried flashing the US stock ROM in download mode but still would go through the loop and it doesn't even charge so i got nothing
so did you somehow fix yours? and i never got a recovery menu that showed something about shut down.:confused
Before brick
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
wait....are you asking me those questions? just to tell you im no developer or something. im just a 12 year old who has his galaxy player stuck in a boot loop. you have to make another thread if you have a problem.
sorry!
Ok. : ) You got it wrong. No problem. His case is different from mine. Just wanted to use her Brick in case. Nothing more. good luck.
I resolve my doubts alone. Nothing that Google does not respond. haha
At least before brick.
ok. let me ask google too xD
anyways..anyone have any idea of how to fix this boot loop?
im trying to do the Linux thing by running the ressurector ans the VM windows the forum is posted under development called hard brick recovery for galaxy 5.0
ok.(i have no idea what you are saying...just saying!)
At first, I apologize if i didn't see this kind of thread. I was looking for solution for a couple of weeks and didn't find anything that would help...
My Rezound is S-OFFed with 2.27 hboot and CWM recovery (the one befor CMW6.*****).
I dodn't know what made me try flashing CMW 6.*** but i did. Right after i flashed CMW 6, i went to "advanced" and rebooted recovery.
This is where weird thing happend: My phone just turend off. I tried to turn it on but i doesn't do anything.
While in Windows, if i connect my phone it shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD
I tried:
pulling out/in the battery - didnt help
Connecting charger and turning the phone on without battery and holding vol - - didn't help
I also tried " [UNBRICK]Wanna unbrick your Rezound? (9/8, Episode VI, Return of The Zip)" and ended up with something like " device isn't found". I tried it in Urbundu 12.04

Can you boot into bootloader? Pull battery and put it back in and hold down power+vol down. If so cant you just flash a new recovery?
It sounds like your phone is stuck in Download Mode, that is used by the older RUU EXE files... you run it from your PC and just walk through the steps to install the firmware. Perhaps trying one of those, they can be downloaded here: http://mobile-overload.com/topic/53-ruu-htc-rezound-ruu-roundup/ but I think the newest EXE version you will get is 2.1.605.11 which is Gingerbread. It will return your phone to bone stock Gingerbread, S-ON, stock recovery, and all that good stuff, but it might work and get you running again.
It's the glitch that you get when you install cwm on a rezound, you can't charge your battery. Look it up on xda they have a solution.
That's the thing. It doesn't work at all.

The phone doesn't work at all. It doesn't even turn on.
Ok snoot sure if anyone has experienced this but randomly after using my phone this morning I noticed it was getting really warm in my pocket. I took it out only to realize I am stuck in a boot loop. I can hold volume down and power and get into hboot, but none of the options....even factory reset do anything, just sends the phone into another boot loop. The kicker is that I have never even attempted to REIT my phone yet. Any suggestions other than going to Verizon and taking my chances there?
Have you tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds to hard reboot the device?
If that doesn't work, try getting the phone into the bootloader, connect it to your computer and try to flash an RUU from there. There's a link to the download for it in the development section, along with guides on how to use it. If you can't flash the RUU, post back here and we can help with that, but if the RUU flashes successfully and it still boot loops, there's probably not much to do except take it back.
I have tried everything I could think of.
Lgnpst, qpst, the lg flash utility. Anyone have any thoughts?
Screen won't come on at all, but pc recognizes it as a Qualcomm device.

When you turn it on while connected to the machine, do you at least see the LG logo? And have you done anything to it recently like flashing it with software or rooting it? If you see the LG logo, you may be able to get into fastboot by swiping diagonally from top left to bottom right on the screen, but I'm not sure what you'd be able to do from there.
Negative. No screen comes on at all.
If I hold down the reset button long enough, after letting go the watch will vibrate slightly after a little bit. So it is booting into something...
When trying to get into "download" mode, even with the screen off I have tried swiping up as shown in a video. Though that hasn't resulted in anything.
I flashed some stuff in adb before this happened. I'm guessing I fudged up the boot partition as I was messing with that. I was attempting to restore everything back to factory as I was unlocked/rooted and custom kernel.

I have the same issue. Did you manage to get yours sorted?
Hello, I have an HTC Amaze for over a year now. It was working fine, I rooted it CWM 5. and I installed Android revolution custom ROM. Until 2 weeks ago my battery was giving me some trouble, so i put away the phone for a bit, I bought a new battery then I notice the phone wasn't coming on. SO i charge for an entire day it still wasn't charging. I carried it to the shop. They said, that they don't know whats wrong with the phone.
I came home and decide am going to fix it my self i tried powering it into recovery mode, hard reset. screen is still blank, at lease that is what I thought. I look closely and then i notice the phone was in recovery mode but no lights were on in the screen. So normally I thought what anyone would of thought, the bulb in the screen or some kind of wiring went bad. The i tried wiping cache davlik install new new rom. Nothing worked. and this was defficult because I had to use a flash light to see on the screen. Lastly, i just click reboot and then the phone lights up perfectly and HTC logo comes up and then it blanks off again. So can anyone help? any advise

Find the way to install adb and communicate with the phone via adb and fastboot. If you can do that, you will be able to install anything necessary to get the phone working again.
First however, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, reinsert the battery and charge the phone overnight. Next day, try and start phone usual way--see what happens.
If NOTHING happens and you get a black screen, remove battery again for a few seconds, reinsert, and this time hold the power button in for AT LEAST 20 seconds.
See if that starts the phone.
If you get absolutely nothing again, find the "Unbricking Project" thread, but if you get any kind of screen, see if you can boot to recovery and restore anything. If you get a screen but can't do any kind of restore at all, find instructions for adb and fastboot I mentioned earlier, so you can install a new recovery and flash a new rom..
I did everything you said. Except I complete forget how to flash recovery and custom rom from my pc but when I type command in fastboot "adb devices" it was successful.
However, I charge the phone and I got into the recovery mode again and the wipe everything and then click backup and recovery. I rebooted the phone and it came on as if its a brand new HTC Amaze. I had the phone working i rejoice for a bit and then I realize I forget to put in my sim card. So i turn the phone off, put in the sim card. The same problem again. No led, no light in the screen, the phone atomatically boots into recovery mood.
One more thing. when booting into recovery mode. the phone doesn't go where I see the 3 android at the bottom and you see, fastboot, reset etc. It goes straight to cwm screen.

I think that is what you should see when you boot into recovery.
Do whatever you did before to get the phone lit up again, then change the display settings to maybe 3/4 brightness for instance. Reboot the phone normal reboot and see if it comes back with light.
If it does, maybe you are fixed enough to install the sim.
Do you possibly have a nandroid backup saved somewhere, you could put it back in the phone via recovery?
The phone is lit up again like you asked me to do. It was hard to see in recovery mode. But i used a flashlight to look on the screen of the AMAZE then i flash a new custom rom. After multiple tries I got it up. SO its up and the brightness is at its highest point. But I dont believe thats the problem. I just need to figure out how the light stays off when in recovery mood but comes on when booted normally. Its as though the recovery is broken. How do I fix it? if its broken
