Hey,
I got 2 X Galaxy S3 I9300,
and they both stuck on bootloop, I can enter download mode but after 2 sec it's bootloop again and i cant change rom,
I try to enter recovery mode and it's dont work, it's show me the samsung logo and again bootloop,
i tried to remove the battery and put it back and the phone turn on alone,
It's mean that i need to replace the power botton?
Any solution?
Thank you.
That could well be your problem, a stuck power button.
I've never once seen a galaxy s phone that gets to download mode and then reboots.
I'm fairly certain that's your problem. Get a new power button from eBay.
Meantime, if you're confident working with electronics, you could disconnect the power button and manually make the contact yourself to double check that it's the problem. But if you're not confident doing that, then just order and get a new button fitted.
Edit: Do this to check if the power button is stuck... Take battery out. Hold volume down and home only. Put battery in. If the phone goes to download mode then your power button is obviously stuck.

I did what you said,

I saw in youtube that i need to soldering iron to change the power botton,
It's correct?

You'd need to check a teardown video on YouTube. I've changed power buttons on s1 and s2, but not on an s3 yet.

Hey guys, I really need your help with this one.
I accidentally reset my Vibrant back to stock using the Odin one-click (I897UCJF6 final) for the samsung captivate. Now I can't go into download mode. I've tried holding the up/down volume button then putting the battery in (vibrant way) and the captivate way with up/down volume button + power button then releasing the power button.
Hold Up and down button, put battery in, then put in your USB cable. Make sure you dont press the power button.
Or
Get a Jig.

I've tried that numerous times. However, it's not working.
Edit: Thanks for mentioning about "jig". I'm guessing this is my last hope.
Possible remedy
I had a similar problem when working with my friends phone yesterday. I used the boot to download function in the AIO Toolbox app and it worked perfectly.
Good luck.
same thing happend to me kinda. just hold the up volume button only and plug the usb in. thats what i have to do now
My issue is as stated as above. I presume my phone has this feature disabled, making this phone near useless for me.
Tried having phone completely off and holding down volume down + home + power like in the videos, to no avail.
I've come from a Galaxy 3 which automatically started up download mode during the boot sequence.
Is there a way to root my phone without Odin or enter download mode with another method? Can't use "reboot download" in terminal as it's not rooted.
I haven't found any topics quite like my issue here. My phone is a international Galaxy III with label being exactly I9300. Any help is appreciated.
You could buy usb jig that will sort it iv never heard of this issue ever

Interesting, atleast there's something to fall back on if there are no other solutions.
Postage to New Zealand would be horrendous.
Please confirm it doesn't work in the following order.
- Make sure you have no case on the phone.
- Power off the phone
- Unplug it from the charger
- Remove the battery for 30 seconds
- Press and hold Volume-Down and center hardware button.
Make sure both buttons are proplery pressed, and the center button is pressed in the middle.
- Press the power button, and release it when the logo appears. Keep the other 2 buttons pressed
- Wait for it to boot
If it doesn't work, try repeating 2 times starting at the top.
If it still doesn't work something is faulty. Check if all the buttons work as expected.
Thank you very much d4fseeker, the battery out was the crucial thing I was doing wrong.
It shouldn't be necessary (and usually isn't) but I've seen on multiple occasions that Samsung phones sometimes don't react to the Download mode or Recovery mode when normally powered down.
I have a Galaxy Mega GT-I9205, which I have rooted and installed CWM recovery. I have had enormous problems in getting this phone into download mode with the stated key sequence of pressing Volume down, Home and Power simultaneously. It does work but probably only once in 40 tries, the other 39 times it just starts up normally and then has to be shut down before you can try again
I managed to find a different way to do this that works nearly every time and thought I would share it with you in case anyone else has the same problem, this is what you do.
Get your usb lead and plug it into your charger or a live usb socket on a computer. Plug the micro usb end into the phone and then without delay hold down the home and volume down buttons. Do not touch the power button. Keep these two buttons held down until the download mode warning screen appears (do not be tempted to let the buttons go when the phone vibrates to tell you it is connected to a power source or the method will fail). When you get the warning screen use the volume up button to confirm as per usual.
A couple of things I should say, there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the buttons on my phone, they work perfectly in normal use, and secondly, I am not really a 'power user' when it comes to phones, I am more at home with computers, so this may be old news to you, but I have never read it before.
Hope this helps someone.
You could just install this Quick Boot (Reboot)
I also fail sometimes. Hold down vol down and home. Then press power and hold the three buttons until I see download mode. If I loosen any of the three keys too early, it may fail.
Download mode is Vol Down and Power only not the Home button as well.
Press both until the phone powers down and then you can release the power button but keep the Vol Down pressed until you see the warning screen.
And Recovery Mode is Power + Vol up (no home).
When we see a little blue line on top, pull up from Power but continue press the Vol up until Recovery arrive.

Whit "Quick Boot" we can go directly to Download Mode or to Recovery Mode. (no more Power + Vol xx)
Thanks for the replies. I discovered Quick Boot for myself, only today! It is certainly the best answer.
Sorry for not replying earlier, I subscribed to the thread, but got no notifications of replies, don't know why.
BTW Troute is absolutely right, Download mode is just power+Volume Down.
I got the 'home' key as well info from here: Edit Can't post outside links due forum rules, never mind.
Also
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
works as well (if you have adb on your computer).
Found a.convenient way to go into recovery or download mode a while ago:
Recovery : long press power button , select restart , confirm, put a finger near volume button, as soon as the phone vibrates, press vol up until booting recovery line shows up. The pressing must be quick and immediately after the vibration.
Download mode is the same as as above, only in the place of press vol up, do press vol down once and need not hold. Download mode shows immediately.
You can use Wanam Exposed module which has function of Power submenu. Tick Enable 4 way reboot menu option.
Can someone tell if triangle away works for Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 GT-I9152 or not ??

Hello,
I'm posting this for a friend, because his phone is "dead" and he is unable to post himself.
Earlier this year he brought a Galaxy SII from a second-hand phone shop, and it's worked fine up until now. He updated the ROM to the official 4.1.2 and since then it's had issues connecting to his home WiFi (unrelated, but it lead me to suspect the ROM) but it connects everywhere else. Then yesterday his phone just went blank and turned on again - the boot sound played at the touch buttons lit up for a moment and then faded as with a normal boot. But the screen was blank apart from several white spots, and a load of coloured pixels. I saw it myself today, and the colour of the pixels is random, although usually red or green, and the phone gets incredibly hot about a minute after turning on.
Is this a ROM fault, or could there be something more serious to it?
Just a shot in the dark, as I've never owned a Samsung, but could it be the "sudden death" bug that they allegedly have?
Thanks
Does it go to recovery? Factory reset. If not does it go to download mode?

I'm not sure - I think I managed to get it into the bootloader, but there's no way to tell because there is nothing on the screen but the white dots and random pixels. All I did notice was that when I removed the battery and turned it on again even more pixels appeared. We only went by the sound and touch lights, so it appeared to boot, but we don't even know if it switched straight off again

you are not sure ? did you try to go into recovery or download mode ? shutdown the phone first
Recovery = Volume up button + Home button + Power button
Download mode = Volume down button + Home button + Power button
Press vol+and home button and power button till it boots to recovery. Keep them all pressed down till it boots. If not try vol- home and power till it boots to download mode. Has he dropped it?

We tried that, and the touch lights came on but with no boot sound. The screen didn't change, just white dots and pixels, but it was working fine the day before.

Tried both, the screen just did the same thing and the phone got very hot very fast, and he said he hasn't dropped it at all, but that someone in his family may have, he's not totally sure because nobody admitted to using his phone.
Screen is prob broken. Pixels on it..not good. No recovery or download mode..really bad. For it too get really hot really fast may be a mb problem. Send it to service centre

Okay, thank you! He tried calling them and getting a quote, but the guy on the other end didn't seem to know what to do, and the man who owned the shop he brought it from offered to repair it, but for almost double what it cost him to buy the phone.
Thank you!
No problem mate. Get a second hand one. Prob be cheaper to do that now the s4 is out. Mb cost alot.

please remove the battery for like 10 minutes, wait a little bit, then try to go into recovery or download mode,
if that doesn't work, try this:
1.Press the key combination for recovery
2.Samsung logo appears - hold the buttons pressed.
3.Prompt disappears shortly - you still hold the buttons.
4.Samsung logo appears again - hold the buttons still pressed.
5.Count to 3 & let go, dont press the buttons anymore.
After 1 - 2 sec farther the Samsung logo disappears and the recovery starts maybe, i did that on my old i9100

Thank you, but that hasn't had any effect. Still a blank screen with white dots and thousands of coloured pixels. Thank you for all of your help though!
Is there any software or commands I could use to diagnose my phone over USB? The screen is black, even during boot (no logos), but the phone is still working in the background. The notification LED blinks normally, menu and back button lights up when pressed, and it even rings when someone calls, though I can't see who it is b/c of the black screen. The screen is not cracked or damaged, and I didn't drop it, so not sure why this is happening. I want to test the GPU or other components before I put down a lot of money for a new screen and it no resolve the issue.
Phone is a rooted SM-N910V that has been working great for 3 months.
Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions, though I have already tried all those plus other things.
I've left the battery out for over a day, removed sim card, held power button in to drain any residue power.
I'm lost as to why all of sudden the black screen. Hoping there's a way to test the phone to confirm if its the lcd or something else like the gpu chip. On a laptop you could plug a monitor in the vga port, don't guess phones have this option

I read that the phone was rooted so maybe that custom rom has some bug and that way you get black screen .
Try to flash him back to stock firmware and see if the problem is solved .
It is just rooted on the standard firmware, I didn't install any custom firmwares. But I was wondering if I could possibly reflash it from a backup I made with twrp. I cant get to recovery, well actually I could if I new the exact steps since everything works, I just cant see crap.
Is this even possible or is there another way to access twrp over the usb?
