I want to use my old S4 on Cricket wireless since I'm leaving verizon. I was wondering if this phone would work if I just popped my Cricket Sim in and if not what would I have to do to get it to work with LTE data SMS mms and calls. Thanks in advance!

Call Verizon, if your Verizon contract has been fulfilled, and if the imei is clean they can unlock it.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it's actually already unlocked. I put in a T-Mobile Sim and it changed the apn automatically.

I'm using mine on Straight Talk. I bought it unlocked tho so I'm not sure if it HAS to be unlock. The phone does not have to be rooted. The only thing you would need to do is change the APN settings for Internet and MMS to work.

It uses a regular sized SIM, does not need to be unlocked - just request the AT&T SIM from StraightTalk.

Yes, you need to use the StraightTalk APN settings - even though they can provision you on the AT&T network, they go through different APN's.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525371 has more information that you can search through.
APN configuration is done through Settings -> Wireless and networks -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names.
I have recently ended a 2 year contract with Verizon and I am wanting to go to a different carrier. What carrier could I go to with this phone with a sim card? Thanks

at&t would be the only one with close coverage to Verizon anyone else would be a hood rat cell phone that works in the city but everywhere its garbage. (unlimited data on non LTE carriers is a waste because its so slow and unreliable)

Yes.
Perhaps you could read one of the dozens of other threads where this has already been asked and answered?
There are several threads on using the I545 on T-Mobile and AT&T, which discuss the issues with different LTE bands, etc.
The I545 isn't SIM-locked, so you can use what you want, but if your new carrier doesn't share frequencies with Verizon, then you find it hard to find service.
Its worked for me on Straight talk. The problem i'm having is no mms picture, just text...I double checked my APN settings with no luck. Any suggestions ?
Hey guys, I'm trying to bring my VZW LG G3 to Straight Talk as I'm sick of Verizon's outrageous charges. I bought an activation kit at Walmart because their compatibility checker said it would work, and so did most other people when I did a Google search. I tried using the CDMA LTE SIM, but it said the SIM was incorrect. So I used the AT&T SIM and got voice working, but couldn't get data even with the proper APN setups. So I called ST and they said it's not compatible, but I know it is because VZW phones are unlocked by default, right? They also claim there is no service where I live but I have friends on ST very close to me who do have service, also ATT and TMO are both here as well as VZW. Am I doing something wrong?? I switched to the TMO SIM but now I can't make a call, they say my account is restricted.

Are you trying to port your number over from VZW or using whatever number Straight talk gives you? Are you rebooting after you entered and saved the APN? Also are you stock, or on a custom ROM?
Calling ST is like going to a phone a phonebook, picking a random person and calling them for help. Actually calling a random person might get you better support.

So I am currently in possession of a Verizon branded S6 edge+ which I am planning to use with TMo, as far as the XDA community I've seen this subsection as well as subsections for the different carries ex. TMo S6 edge+, Verizon S6 edge+ etc I was wondering what the difference was, also was wondering which ssection, my guess is the Verizon subsection as the phone's innards are specific to Verizon's version but I'm just asking before I get Into the rooting (rather be safe than sorry)
Also has any one else done this? Is there any discrepancy with the signal or anything else?
Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks

You can't root the Verizon variant of the Edge +. It's impossible. KNOX will hard brick the phone if it detects the /system partition is modified in any way.

I don't think it will work. T-Mobile uses GSM technology and Verizon uses CDMA.

working absolutely fine.
Only issue is Verizon S6 edge+ doesn't not use Band 12 which TMobile uses.
So in other words, if you using DATA and phone call comes in, you will loose data, once phone call drop your data is back again.
and you can use 4G not LTE on tmobile network.
Thats my experience.
Thanks,

All I did is added the Tmobile APN settings to get my data back, but my voice call works as soon as I put the SIM card IN.

Hmm that's really weird... I've tried everything and nothing... If I put the verizon sim it picks up signal bit if I put the tmobile one I get no signal at all... I have the tmobile apn set and everything but nothing happens... Can you tell me what build number you have on your edge+?

Right now I have AOJ2. The updates for me anyways, have to be done manually. I get both wifi and t-mobile 4G service. What t-mobile APN are you using? I have the fast.t-mobile.com one set.
Does the tmobile sim your using work in any other phones for tmobile or any other. You may need to reactivate the tmobile sim because all verizon phones come with the gsm part unlocked for voice from Verizon so If the sim is valid it should work on voice right away.
Check your advanced calling settings. Im on vzw so i use the advanced calling option for hd voice and hd video over 4g lte so you might have to disable that. Also is the sim card your using work in tmobile lte service or just 3g?
To date has anyone figured out a way to root the Verizon variant of the s6 edge+? I'm currently using on net10 with android 5.1.1

It's impossible. KNOX prevents root. Locked bootloader. Even if you enable "OEM Unlock" in developer options, it still bricks the device and tells you that you warranty is void and you need to buy a new phone.

Can I get wifi calling to work with the Verizon brand s6 with an tmobile sim card?
I purchased a at&t locked s9+ and it was unlocked with a code. We inserted a Total Wireless sim card and it does not work with calls or texts. And we need a solution to this problem. Any help?

You will most likely have to add the apns for your sim. It is not plug and play.
Did you call the carrier and give them all the pertinent information on your phones imei and sim card numbers? Then they can activate it. It's the same problem on other carriers I've played with on unlocked phones before. I though the phone was locked or broken. All was fine after I called the carrier for activation.

Your probably not right it was unlocked by our code we got from ebay and what we did is put a t-mobile sim card in the phone and what it did it gave us calls, texts, and even data at 4g. But it was not working with only Verizon. Do you know the solution to this problem.
-Thanks

Ok well considering one is GSM and the other is CDMA I dont think I am wrong at all. Each OEM has its own apns. GSM devices do not normally pull apns for non gsm carriers. Have you not done this before?

Did you ever get your Total Wireless sim to work? I'm thinking of switching to them also, since they use the Verizon Network.
