MHL general question - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, it's first time I try an mhl cable with my galaxy s2.
But the problem is:
I have connected smartphone via mhl cable and an hdmi to vga adapter to my vga monitor.
It's all ok, image appear on the vga screen.
But:
Time ago I phisically turned my vga monitor to stand vertically, and my hope was to see my smartphone in portrait mode in full screen external monitor, but mhl auto adjust output when try to change from landscape to portrait on the smartphone.
Any way to disable this auto-adjustment?

[Q] Webtop/HDMI/Dock Questions

1. So I've heard that a HDMI cable works the same way as the HD dock, does it let you open theater mode(forgot the actual name) or hdmi mirroring with just a cable?
No mirroring yet. Theater mode pops up as an option when plugging in a HDMI cable. with a long enough cable it works as a great remote control.
2. Does the 'Theater' mode play video that was not created on the device?
Yes, but you should check the supported codec list on motorolas website, I have had some problems with some obscure audio codecs.
3. Does the Android window in webtop mode let you scale the app or is it a fixed size?
Yes its scalable, but there is borders on the screen that prevent it from stretching to the entire screen
4. Has anyone tried using storage(such as a keydrive) or wireless keyboard/mouse(2.4GHz not bluetooth) in the usb ports on the HD dock or the Laptop Dock?
FAT32 usb drives seem to work, haven't gotten to try a usb 2.0 hdd. Wireless 2.4GHZ peripherals work fine.
so HDMI mirroring is out i know that but still havent been able to test any of the rest of this in my trip to AT&T, as someone had locked the fingerprint reader to their print lol

[Q] Video calling is not displayed in external display

Hi There
I recently purchased Samsung Galaxy s2 along with genuine samsung HDMI adapter. While the phone does hdmi out for videos to an external display, whenever I do video calling (stock) while having the HDMI adapter connected to an external display, The external display or TV does not seem to display the video call . In short I am not able to do video calling with on a big external LCD TV. While it might sound strange I keep travelling a lot and would like to do video calling using LCD screens at the hotels I stay. Every time I hook up my hdmi adapter and begin video calling my family, the following message is shown in external display " applications cannot be ....." something like that. My previous Nokia N8 was able to send video calling to large display... Has anyone come across such problem and is there a work around. It would be great to watch my children on a large display especially now when I am frequently travelling...
External Video Display Adapter
I think the problem would be regarding compatibility issue with the type of HDMI adapter. I have used Diamond MM video display adapter which had worked fine. Here you can add multiple display in minutes. Also you get a 1080p output picture resolutions.

try an hdmi to vga adapter.

S20 HDMI screen mirroring (not dex) via usb C adaptor

Hey, I got a generic USB C - HDMI dongle and when i plug it into the S20 and a TV (or pc monitor) the Samsung's Dex screen appears and works well but if I go into phone's Settings, HDMI mode and choose "Screen mirroring" instead of "Samsung DeX" then the tv shows "no signal".
I'm only interested in the screen mirroring part which doesn't seem to work (there's a toast on the phone saying "Connected to external display" but the tv/monitor at the other end of the hdmi cable says "no signal"). This same setup (adaptor) works on a laptop via USB C.
Anyone got this to work somehow? I'm trying on 60Hz and 1080p.
[Samsung galaxy s20 exynos on Android 11 & december security patch.]
Don't know if it can help, but when I have Dex displayed on TV through USB-C to HDMI cable, I shut it down from its start menu and the display switch to a screen replica. I'm on S20 Exynos Android 10 but you could have a try on 11.
As far as I understand Samsung S20 screen mirroring is the "Smart View" and is a wireless function .

Application conflict with HDMI Connection

Just bought a used Samsung Tab S7 , factory reset it already
Was planning to use it to stream games,
Bought a HDMI Port with additional USB ports
And A Third Part Gaming Extender to Connect Mouse and Keyboard
The Third Party Gaming Extender worked fine on the USB port and communicated well with the application
The WASD movement was smooth, Mouse aims fine
When I plugged in hdmi (connected to Elgato60 a capture card that is connected to my pc)
Into my HDMI Port HowEver
The Third Party Gaming Extender still recognizes my mouse and keyboard
But the software had a hard time translating it into the game
WASD movement was butchered,
Mouse aim went reverse
Though HDMI signal is successful in displaying Tab S7 screen on my computer
My Question is what did the HDMI connection do to screw up this third party gaming software?
Is there anything I can turn off regarding HDMI side effects on other applications on my Samsung Tab S7?
Will buying a HDMI splitter fix this problem?
Thank you For reading this long post,
I really am desperate right now
i also got this and tried many thing but nth. HDMI will change tab s7 touch screen ratio and reverse. if you use nor mal mouse and keyboard no issue. but using game extender got this issue. you can't do anything on tab s7. Game extender may able to solve this issue.
