Basic summary:
OnePlus has been founded in December 2013, and it 2014 they’ve released their first smartphone, the OnePlus One. That handset has been regarded as one of the bets smartphones in 2014, and OnePlus gained quite a bit of credibility. Now, the OnePlus One has shipped with Cyanogen OS out of the box, but along the way, OnePlus and Cyanogen decided to terminate their partnership, and OnePlus opted to develop their very own Android-based OS, read on.
This China-based company has actually developed two OS’, one for the international market, and one for Chinese users. The international OS is named Oxygen OS, and the Chinese variant is called Hydrogen OS. OnePlus has rolled out Hydrogen OS back in May last year, and has also introduced its beta program at the same time. Those of you who are using Hydrogen OS have probably been wondering when will OnePlus release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based variant of it, well, according to the information we have, really soon.
OnePlus has kicked off Android 6.0 Marshmallow Hydrogen OS beta testing phase, and is looking for beta testers. The conditions are rather simple, you need to spend quite a bit of time on your handset and basically, test out the phone. You’ll be getting bi-weekly updates, so you should be prepared for that as well. If you live in China, you can apply to be OnePlus’ Hydrogen OS beta tester, and you’ll find more information in the source link down below. Unfortunately Anzhuo hasn’t sourced this info, but they did put a screenshot of Hydrogen OS’ official Weibo (Chinese social network) page in their article, which confirms their information.
Now, if our translation is accurate, the OnePlus 2 is the only handset model you’ll be able to test Hydrogen OS on, but OnePlus One and OnePlus X will get the update later on, when it becomes official. That is more or less it, we still don’t have any info when it comes to the changelog in Android 6.0 Marshmallow-powered Hydrogen OS, but as soon as OnePlus releases more information, we’ll make sure to let you know.

Here but not qualified for the requirement of closed beta
It requires, according to the thread:
1. Love H2OS
2. Browse 1+ forum no less than 30 hour weekly
3. Love to flash rom, and can flash twice a week
4. Preferably experienced testers and had done reviews before
Btw, as this is a closed beta, a 200 of testers are required not to spread the beta ROM
Try signing up.
I'm not eligible.

Since they are moving to marshmallow api for FP, who knows if the leak will be able to help our CM/AOSP development while us waiting for official oxygen/source code
Pretty much most phones have their software leaked like Sammy, HTC and such. Cmon OnePlus.

I can guarantee you more than 200 copies are out there, that is all I can really say.
Some of us, people who have it, developers here on XDA will not leak it however - and there are very good reasons for us to not do so, we are entitled with trust from OP to keep it private and if it were that we'd be not doing so - it could harm our relationship between the user base and OP, discouraging OP from partaking in such events in the future.
"This is why we can't have nice things", we don't want to take a path that could lead to that, just trust the testers to flesh the ROM put first.
Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Just to clarify, if I was one of the lucky testers I wouldn't leak it, just saying that anything like this always gets leaked.
Sent from my ONE A2003
It probably wouldn't help out much anyway since it would be binaries only...

I was just wondering if Mozilla OS is worth porting over, I gather its pure web based and could be made as a second OS to what we already have, I mean, the option to have 2 OS is appealing to me, Mozilla OS is very lite as its basically 1 webrowser and that's it. Check it out and give us your thoughts. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/, its available now, and can be downloaded and tried out, id like to see it already built in to custom roms.

I think it isn't dependent on a connection to the internet, it basically works like any other OS, its just all html5 and java scripting, so apps don't have to be unpacked etc.
Theres lots of android based os's on the horizon. Most will end up dying like samsungs badda os. I'd wait to see before talking about porting half of em.

Silly question....
I'm undecided between the xiaomi mipad and the Nokia n1
.... I notice that there isn't any support on XDA for both tablets making my purchase decision difficult.
What's your take on this, im on the look for a 4:3 aspect ratio and 7.4 inch ish tablet size, should I look somewhere else other then those? Thanx
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
ive no personal experience with the N1, but i can say that ive really enjoyed my mipad. im impressed with the build quality.
i run the latest "global" miui rom rooted.
also xiaomi is expected to release the source code before to much longer.. which means 3rd party roms would be quick to follow.

i bought mine from china (i live in the US) it came with a version of miui that had several Chinese apps that looked to do similar stuff to google.. and it didnt have any google apps. once i swapped to the global version of miui i really liked the tablet.
from miui.com you can download 3 roms
mipad china:
-developer
-stable
mipad global:
-stable
if you install cwm you can easily root any of them, if you stick with original recovery you can only root the developer.
also there are several developers in russia and india that are just waiting for source code to drop. and its expected to happen fairly soon (assuming mipad follows the general path of other xiaomi products)

Xiaomi is usually hesitant to release the code, sometimes due to too much pressure created they may release all at once as happened in the beginning of this year with mi 3, mi 4, redmi note all code being released, except Mi Pad.
Lets hope Xiaomi releases it soon so that Lag Free Roms can be developed for this beastly device!
Back a few months ago, OnePlus promised to release the FP driver to the community to help out developers, what is happening ?
They are making the sensor work with the marschmallow API. So it will be supported in custom roms. They will never release the sources.

Unlikely but wishful hoping you're reasoning is true. We all want OnePlus to use the standard API so that the device can be maintained easily by custom rom developers and groups.
This will expand the lifespan of the device and make people support and keep buying OnePlus devices.

I know we won't see official Stock Android N 7.0 but I'm wondering about a custom rom hopefully
It's a very unlocked device (with the exception of ATT and VZW models) with a very good spec to Price ratio and an active and skilled dev community. I'd say the odds are good.

I would have to agree. Being a Moto G 2nd gen user myself, and an Ontario Can. resident, I was quite surprised to see an actual official update to 6.0.1 [Wind Mobile] commencing just a few days ago, see my thread. It went from 5.0.2 when released a yr ago, and then an entire year of uncertainty and disappointment with Motorola [see thread: Motorola's failure to meet promises/updates] Then, 2 days ago, @ 1pm --> 6.01.!! With respect to the devs and community in general, I am more than impressed! Considering the phone is less than a hundred bucks, no matter where you are in the world, the amount that has been done and can be done is quite impressive! Mad love and respect to the community!!!

.
Am surprised and pleased at the same time too see a discussion thread already on Android N for this device. Having just started using the stable Cyanogenmod release I would be glad to see N someday down the line on the device.
The device is still an extremely good buy for the budget users, especially in the emerging markets. I see myself using the device as my daily driver for a year and a half down the line. The new lease of life that M has given it, I don't see a reason to switch to another device at this particular point in time. Plus, phones of this particular dimension are slowly disappearing off the market, which is not the best of developments, so, since someone like me only uses the device for communication, browsing, light social media, some pictures. Considering how media consumption on phones never really made sense to me, bigger devices never have either.
Well, we'll have to wait for CyanogenMod 14.

What's the hurry with everyone getting impatient with wanting to know when CM14 will be releasted???
I'm lead to believe that we won't see any port of CM14 until N goes official, probably on September.
I can see a partial working port for surnia by end of the year.
I want to elaborate I'm no expert and i base my comments on what I've read here on XDA and other android sites.
Moto e second gen WILL NOT get an official port of N, full stop.
I'm hoping some of our esteemed developers may lend a word on their thoughts about this.
I started a thread asking this question as I couldn't find this one, and im glad I've found it and already we have a great discussion going.
As a side point, I still own and use a first gen moto e as my work phone, its running CM13 and people are also asking if that device will see CM14, nice to see the interest not waning!

Its not BS its a well known fact that RR is cyanogenmod based.
Your assumption that CM is garbage is based on you using a cyanogenmod ROM with some very good extras........
I think that's quite ironic and a little amusing!
While you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I respect your opinion, let me tell you that I'm a big RR fan and a current user, up until a few days ago.
Ive been using RR with no major issues right up until 5.7 came out.
I had major issues with the new release, and I'm not using it anymore because of a sudden and complete loss of my data, music, photos and contacts.
I now also have a corrupted and unusable SD card, my contacts have disappeared off Google, off the phone and my sim now doesn't even work, the contacts having disappeared off there too, its been a complete disaster [emoji27]
Read the RR for surnia thread and you will see I'm not the only person who's had this problem.
Something has gone majorally wrong with the update, and unfortunately I've now moved away from RR and back to CM13, and yes, it could have happened whilst using CM13 but it hasn't.
While I love RR nothing else just works like CM13, and I've never had a sudden loss of all my data or any major problems.
You can disagree and laugh at me, but to loose personal, important and special things in the blink of an eye and then take almost three days to get my surnia working again is putting me off re flashing RR.
I'm sorry if my rather passionate post was off topic, as you all can probably tell I'm annoyed and hacked off I've lost everything off my SD, and I did not have a back up because I had only had the SD card less than two weeks!

I'll second that motion. Very talented Devs, extremely active community! I am looking forward to some nifty roms...!
So...
I currently have a Nexus 5 and I am was very close to buying the RN3. Now see the Nexus 5 provides stable pure android which I love so I dont need to flash custom roms on it. However I recently did that just to be able to get Android N. I've enjoyed my experience with custom roms so far. I'm using CM14 and I do like it even though it does seem just a little unstable and having a few bugs here and there.
I decided to upgrade to the RN3 because of the pure battery life offered by the N5 these days. I had decided that I would flash CM on top of it as soon as possible because I hate anything other than vanilla android. Now however, CM is dead. I have already done my fair bit of research to know that they are moving to Lineage now. I also read that the popular phones won't really be affected. However the RN3 isn't very popular. At least that's the idea in my head.
The point of this post is Will the RN3 receive the support popular phones would? Will I be able to have the latest and greatest in Android?
That is the one question which will affect my decision on whether to go for it or not. I think I need to make a decision by late this week on this so yeah..
Can any devs say that they plan on working on the RN3?
Is the RN3 as popular as the N5 was for the sake of development and stuff?
I plan on supporting the RN3 once I purchase one. However, I don't think it'll receive the large array of ROMs Nexus 5 has, but I think it'll get plenty of ROMs all the same.

I m using Aokp from 10 days with various custom kernel. Stable and fast. Only bug is the instable camera (using google camera apk mitigate it).
RN3 has miui roms, cm based roms and good development. Definitely it will be worth purchasing. Android file host shows 3to4 roms for RN3 daily.
Need some other roms except CM based.
