Can't connect to wifi Surface Pro - Remix OS for PC

It tells me the wifi password is wrong even though I am 100% sure it's the right key.
I have 2 wifi networks in my home and i can't connect to either.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Me too
I'm having the same problem with Android-x86 on the Surface Pro 1 :'(

did you try with the beta version? It's supposed to have kernel 4.4
Kernel 4.4 fixed wifi in ubuntu for me on Surface Pro, I might try this next weekend, if anyone can try this before please let us know

I can't get wifi or bluetooth using 2..0. I was really hoping this time....

I have Remix beta running flawlessly on my Surface Pro 1, Wifi & Bluetooth work fine, shutdown, standby, touchscreen & audio are all working well also.

How did you manage to fix this? I have the same problem.
I've installed the Blade WIFI fix app but it doesn't work most of the time even though it says attempting to fix.
same here.
I use the stock 2.1 rom and wifi is ok, FreeX10 Beta 4 and the wifi works and then after a whille becomes disconnected.
I tried Blade Wifi fix, wifi fixer, all from the android market and they all fix it maybe once or twice then wifi disconnects again.
For now, I have added power control widget to the homescreen and disable then enable to get wifi working.
I am using the Wifi to turn off with screen.
Bizzarely I have a ZTE Blade before running 2.2.1 and the wifi always worked flawlessly. Weird.
Wonder if its anything to do with WEP or WPA2?

Exactly the same problem.
I think its a cynanogen mod settings that was set to automatically disconnect or something like that. I can;t seem to find it.
The problem is, wifi is slow and constantly disconnects then you have to connect manually to it, which takes a while. Hopefully it would be fixed in the next update, because going online is just vital for our androids.
Check this
Thanks for the link. My problem isn't connecting to an enterprise network. It does connect but after a few hours will stay disconnected if your using WPA or WPA2. Using WEP (64bit or 128bit) the problem is still there. Only is works a few hours more before disconnecting. The only way to fix it is to disable Wifi and enable it.
Tried ZTE Blade wifi fix and all the others from the market. Same problem.
So definately some issue with the rom/wifi settings.
It's a phone issue.. oddly the x10 hates some routers.. it's is possible that you are having -wifi- clashes at work.
Does it do this only at work?
if yes.. then it's the router at work.
:severe edit
I'm using blade wifi fix.. no issue's what so ever.
wifi works well for my FreeX10 beta4
Well for me its good, but when u leave phone idle, it sadly disconnects to my modem and I have to reconnect, which takes like a minute.
It was fine before I switched to freex10 and its the only issue I found so far with it. I think I saw one of the settings in cyanogen... IM not sure. Help please

I know that X10 doesnt like hidden SSID. I have to create another SSID just for the X10. LOL.

I have to agree - I was having the same issue, the phone would drop out when it went to sleep and then wouldn't wake back up. I installed the blade wifi fix and it seems to bee all good.

touchpad Android wireless issues sorted

Should probably go in development but as a noob I can't post their yet.
Since updating to CM7 A3.5 I started having wireless issues. Would lose IP connectivity but connection up. Other wireless devices no issues and previous CM7 versions had been okay.
Updated to Xron 2.91 on here which seemed to make things worse.
Ran a wifi signal app and noticed neighbours AP on the same channel. Reconfigured mine and have had no touchpad issues since.
As all other devices were fine I didn't think of checking the frequency. Obviously the touchpad is a bit sensitive.
Hope someone else benefits from this. Thanks to those who released the Xrom and CM7 roms. Makes the touchpad a wicked cheap tablet.
Matt.
This has been talked about before and is considered one way of fixing wifi problems. If you still can't connect you could make the touchpad forget the network from settings and reconnect again. Using an app like regpon wifi keep alive helps a lot and finally a reboot helps if everything else fails
Sent from my Touchpad using Tapatalk
Also: Make sure your date/time is correct and a reboot into webOS often fixes it.
Yeah the wifi issues seem to be a hit or miss. Sometimes changing the channel works for people. Other times it's just the router. I would need to always "forget" the connection before turning my TP off then reconnect after at my house. But it works perfectly at my friends house. Thanks for the post though. It might help others with this issue.
i was just going to actually post in the thread, but like you, i am a newb with insufficient rights =)
ive done 4 touchpads, 3 different routers, cm7 3.0/3.5 and xronified 2.1 and to 2.9:
-asus rt12n w/tomato 1.28 in WDS mode with WPA1 AES on channel 11:
runs flawlessly on every revision and touchpad ive done so far.
-airlink ar670w w/ddwrt sp1 with WPA2 AES on channel 11:
initially connects but when TP goes to sleep, it will not reconnect on wakeup and strobe on and off and lock up wifi settings. cm7 3.0/3.5 and xronified 2.7/8/9
-linksys wrt54g w/hyper thibor with WPA2 AES on channel 11:
same results the airlink with ddwrt
after searching and experimenting, ive gotten both the linksys and airlink to play nice by doing the following:
1) changed encryption from WPA2 to WPA1
2) changed channels to 6 or 1 (personally i just picked whatever seemed less crowded)
3) disabled wifi sleep and scanning on TP.
4) rebooted TP into webos then back into android and rebooted router.
hope one or some of these solutions helped.
Even if your other devices weren't having issues being on the same wifi channel can cause packet loss due to interference making your Internet feel slower.
I also read that people had succes using the FXR Wifi Fix app to fix some of their wifi issues. If anyone is still having issues, you might want to try that out as well.

Download the apk and install manually from computer. just connect the touchpad to the computer and copy the file over.
The fxr app does restore my wifi connection, but does not permanently fix my disconnect issues. I am trying out the regpon app now, so hopefully this will help maintain my connections!
As far as messing with routers, this is not an option for me as I use my school's wifi network when I'm working in my lab.
I have only dropped once at home and after forgetting the network and reconnecting I never had trouble again.
First post here... Just want to say that this is an amazing community. So many cool heads willing to spend time to help. It's awesome. With guidance from many of you(I have done EXTENSIVE reading around here for days), I just did my first CM install on my TP and I am in heaven.
The solution I'very found is to tap the icon next to the back icon and then the wireless icon. Don't even know what the icons called, butit has buttons to turn. on/off wifi, Bluetooth, suond and what I'm assuming is the camera.

[Q] Playbook

Does anyone know how to get the x10 WiFi or Bluetooth connection working on a playbook? I am currently on CM7 rom.
Please help
What do you mean? Tethering to it and pairing? Should work just fine. I dont have any problems. Not running CM 7 at the moment but if your wifi and bluetooth work then should be good.
I tried BT tether as well as WiFi tether and they don't work. On CM7 roms the WiFi tether only works in ad-hoc mode which the playbook does not support. maybe i will try a different rom.
pairing works but not tethering
Rom's based on stock seem to work, I can tether my data connection to the playbook. As for the bluetooth, it pairs but I am unable to actually send any files back and forth (not sure if this option is actually available to non-bridged devices), it runs as a audio/video remote, currently using OS2 Beta, so maybe thats an issue, not sure, didn't check on OS 1.08
Wifi tethering working Blackberry Playbook
Hi,
i´ve had the same issues, beeing not able to wifi tether, with my playbook and Samsung Galaxy S2. Wifi tethering worked with every other device but not with my playbook.
Bluetooth tethering seems to be working with every BB and only some other devices.
So the problem must be in the wifi from bbpb.
Since yesterday there is 2.0.0.7111 beta for Playbook.
I installed the beta and now wifi tether works. I don`t get disconnected anymore.
hope that will work 4 you too.

Sorry, i`m not able to post Links =( ... just google 2.0.0.7111

wifi tethering problem

with my Huawei u8800 with aurora ics, I can use wifi tethering and share my 3g with every device I tried. All except touchpad.!!! with touchpad I cant see the tethering network of my phone. I used all wifi fixes but no good....
I don't have wifi problem, with my pad I connect to my home s. wireless router quickly and steady as ever. My only problem is that I can't see my phone's wifi tethering network.
My tethering problem is very complex and bizzare....i am trying to tether 3g from my u8800 to my HP touchpad running cm9 alpha2.All effords to make it work with u8800 aurora 2.0 shows that HP touchPAD cannot see the tethering network of the phone.
Other devices i hav tried with u8800 aurora 2.0 (laptops, pcs etc) see the network and connecting to it.
So u thing logically that the problem is not the u8800 aurora 2.0 but the Hp Touchpad.....Here is the good part
If i go back u8800 to official 2.3.5 the tethering WORKS like a charm with Hp Touchpad.
pffft go figure !!!
edit:Hp touchpad cant see tether network of u8800's (aurora2.0) booting in webos also.if u8800 has official 2.3.5 tethering works fine in webos too...
Tether
I can currently tether my 3G Verizon Wireless connection to my Touchpad using PDANet Tablet and Foxifi (both free on market.)
This is via bluetooth, however it works fairly well and I can access most apps, etc (Market, Browsers, Youtube, etc.)
Hope this helps
thanks for your answer, i tried your way too but no good either...
honestly, keep trying it. it doesn't work together every time. It does take me a few tries to get it configured/ connected fully

Wifi tethering does not work with my SGS3 and my laptop

I want to use the built-in wifi hotspot in my SGS3.
My laptop is an old Acer Travelmate 4100, which supports only 802.11b/g. It is abe, though, to connect to my wireless 802.11n router without problems (I suppose there must be backwards compatiblity).
But I can't connect to my SGS3 in tethering mode. It detects the hotspot but it timesout connecting.
I have also tested USB and BT tether and it works OK, so at least I have this little "workaround".
I set the hotspot as open just to make things easier.
Anyone has tried the built-in wireless tether in the SGS3?
Anyone has tried another wireless tether app?
I have tried Wireless Tether for root users and it doesn't work.
By the way, my phone is rooted.
Thanks.
mine works fine but im not rooted
Not sure if it applies to you but I would try again with a password for the hotspot. Some roms don't seem to want to let a connection happen without it.

I know it seems crazy but if you have vista or 7 try a password with at least 8 letters and one number or symbol. Also change the hotspot name to something else and try both wpa and wpa2. If that doesn't get it then its likely not one of the usual password snafus keeping it from connecting.

I hope this is not the case.
I've found a workaround, though. I can use a USB cable or Bluetooth. Both of them work OK.
Maybe it's wifi standard related, as my laptop only supports 802.11b/g connections, and I don't know if my phone is capable of running only in b/g standard.
Also, the phone wifi connection works flawlessly with my home cablemodem.
I'm thinking about flashing a different firmware so I can test if it software or hardware related. Does Omega 3.0 firmware support wifi tethering?
Wait!. I'm going to test if my wife's SGS2 can connect to my SGS3's wifi hotspot!.
Oh, yeah!. It works!. So it's not hardware related, but software. My laptop also can connect to my wife's SGS2 wifi hotspot (as used to do, by the way).
Weird....
Galaxy S3 tethering doesn't work
I have exactly the same issue for tethering on Samsung's GS3. Bluetooth, USB tethering works fine.
Wifi tethering:
WPA2 - doesn't work, no clients can connect (password >8 alphanum chars)
WPA - doesn't work, no clients can connect (password >8 alphanum chars)
Open - works for connecting a single Win7 x64 client only.
iPhone, iTab, Nokia E72, Blackberry cannot connect to either of those above although it sees the AP.
The same SIM card (converted back to normal size SIM) works fine with tethering on Samsung Galaxy S1/S2. This is a pure GS3 issue.
I purchased the phone from FNAC in Madrid (no contract) and has current configuration:
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband model: I9300XXLE8
Kernel version: 3.0.15-554452-user
Build number: IMM76D.I9300XXALE8
No ideas on what else can be tried... looks to be hardware/software bug...

wifi tethering
doesnt´t work for me either (stock, unrooted).
wifi teth does NOT work for me with my mac, pc, and some other mobiles that i tried. (All Encryptions )
neither does bluetooth tethering with my mac (usb as well but i guess that story is apples fault).
usb works on my pc (win7 x64) .
Anyone else can confirm this problem?
Beside this the Button Layout in the wifi-tethering config screen is quite weired. So i really think something really buggy in there.
thanks
quok
No problems here. Wifi hotspot set up on S3, set to WPA2, password over 8 characters with a mix of letters and numbers, TouchPad is happily connected to it. I'm on stock XXALF2.

Hi,
USB & Wifi tethering doesn't work for me with rom omega 5.2 (or official XXALE8 and XXALF2) but on Cynaogenmod 9 (21/06) it's working fine...
Having connection problems as well. Seems to be a Samsung problem because when I loaded the app FoxFi I had no problem using WiFi tethering. Hopefully they fix this soon.
FoxFi app worked for me on stock.

Ok I'm having the same problem.
I found this link
http://www.bytewiki.com/how-to-fix-wifi-connection-problem-in-samsung-galaxy-s3/
Basically:
1. Go to dialer, type *#0011#
2. Hit the MENU button and select Wifi
3. At the bottom of the screen is the button for Wifi Power Save Mode. Turn it off.
4. Back out of the menu.
5. Try tethering.
While it seems to have improved the reliability of the connection, the connection seems extremely slow and laggy compared to the connection I had with my Sensation.
Feedback from anyone?

It didn't work, but I have found the culprit: the kernel. I was using a custom kernel (siyah). I have gone back to the stock kernel and now it works ok. I hope this is fixed in next releases of the kernel. I have also tested with other custom kernels and it happens the same.
Enviado desde mi GT-I9300 usando Tapatalk 2
I'm on ALE8 with Siyah-Kernel and it works without issues, not even dropping data connection once over several hours as was the regular issue with my S1.
At the moment i believe you must have root to wifi tether via foxfi, FoxFi devs seem to be aware of the issue based on their notes on their bin link, stating "*Support for the new Galaxy S3 and the new ICS update for Epic Touch are being worked on. Should be compatible soon in a future update."
Same issue on stock rom and kernel for me. Other Android devices connect fine as does a newer Samsung laptop. But an older laptop with Intel B/G adapter running Win7-home prem 32 bit will not connect. Whether open, wpa2, b only, g only, .... My HTC Evo 4G has no problem connecting to any device.
