I've recently flashed a rom from other country due to the fact that Philippines does not have a lollipop version of Samsung E7. And I've actually rooted my phone, knowing that upgrading to other official rom of other country will remove the root, but my phone just got totally hard bricked in which I could not even go to recovery mode, download mode and cannot even boot to the Samsung logo (got totally stuck at black screen and vibrating for every 2 seconds). + My laptop and computer can't even recognize my phone.
1. Due to the fact that the laptop and any computer can't even recognize the phone:
1a. Would the knox would trigger if I just only rooted my phone?
1b. Would the technicians know if I just rooted my phone?
2. Would Samsung will consider my repair if I bring it back to them?

Most likely not. That is something you accept when you flash your device. Your warranty is voided.

Even though flashing an official firmware of other country? Does this count as voiding the warranty?

Flashing anything not made for that that device will void your warranty. Does no one read the legally binding TOS for using devices?

I flashed the right one for my device but I guess I've skipped on something while flashing. Sorry for asking this kind of questions, I'm just new in here and new in flashing.

Sorry, I have more questions again..
1) Every time I change the live wallpaper or close a game, my live wall paper has static noise on it on my home screen. Is this normal after flashing, or should I be concerned? The phone is overclocked (Megatron)
2) If I decide to go back to the original LG firmware by downloading it via this forum and flashing, and if I un-root my phone will I be able to download the official LG firmware updates or will this brick my phone (even after un-rooting and flashing)? And if it is possible, does this mean that the warranty is technically not void and if I've got probs with the phone, LG will repair it?

Even the developer of Megatron doesn't recommend people to use live wallpaper... so it would be hard to say what or where the problem is.

That is exactly what people on this forum do. If they ever need any repairs made on the phone through LG service centre, they flash it back to stock so that it is still under warranty. The method they use here will return it FULLY to stock, including apps, custom recovery, and it even automatically unroots your phone. You will then be able to upgrade your firmware through official LG updater. Although, certain updates won't allow you to root it afterwards, so just make sure you know what you're doing beforehand.

Tested on my phone...Working.
This guide let you use coustom ROM (any) without losing warranty (not at the beggining!)
I'm not responsible for any damage for your phone.
Instructions:
1. Get back to 2.1 stock.
2. Root and install CWM
3. Flash any coustom ROM.
4. Download package.
5. Run it.
6. You are using your coustom ROM but with warranty.
Download:
- Just a second some problems in building
Please note that CyanogenMod settings will not work.
Doesn't rooting void warranty?
Yes and no. By rooting your phone you've voided your warrenty but you can reflash 2.1 update 1 by using SEUS to relock your phone and the manufacturer would be none of the wiser.
But if they suspect you have hacked your phone and the damage was caused by flashing custom roms/unlocking they have the right to refuse/charge for repairs
It's kind a noob... coz sony ericsson sync is always working and hidden rootkit is working... they collect data even we press a button & touches the digitizer (according to new info google it) so they probably could find we rooted ....
Maybe I'm wrong

You've seen an admission from SE they use Carrier IQ? I thought I read they denied it. In any case isn't it the carrier rather than the manufacturer that install Carrier IQ?
I'm sticking with my AOSP ROM! Warranty voided!

I understand that, but I read the OP to mean you can have a custom ROM without voiding your warranty, my question was that by running one on a rooted phone your warranty is voided.
I understand that there are ways to "cover your tracks" in the event you need to use your warranty.
Very true. you cannot have a custom rom without voiding your warranty
5. This warranty does not cover product failures caused by software installations, modifications, service or repair or opening of the product performed by a non-Sony Ericsson authorised person.

We're such rebels! Ha!
Useless guide.
That's complicated but first you rooting installing and unrooting.
I won't get warranty anyway coz I bought the phone from grey market..... So the post is useless to me. But interested to know how....
basically what you can do is, to try to make SE think youve never been rooted or your bootloader is locked. Both is obviously pretty easy to do: just flash back to SE kernel, lock bootlader, flash back to stock rom. Thats it.
Also: What should this package do? As soon as they start up your device they will see you've modded something.
if we alter the s/w then it does go against the warranty. then what?
this thread is going to be in flames soon (will end up in argument) i guess.
The thing is that if you modify the kernel, is when you have lost the warranty completely... Just pray, pray that if something happens to ur mobile works enough to put the usb cable and recover using seus...
As seus restores everything, i seriously doubt that there is a waterprint in the phone saying that u rooted it...
So just prepare seus...
Anyway, i think sony ericsson should change it, cos as u should now sony ericsson said that they were going to help developers by providing the code that they needed, so... The next step i guess is the warranty thing

Using SEUS does not modify your bootloader, you have to restore/lock it manually.

Does just rooting the phone and not flashing any custom roms void the warranty? Even if I unroot it again?
I was of the understanding that it was flashing roms that started the counter ticking in the phone?
Finally, if I root does it mean I cant keep updating via Kies?
I'm quite sure you avoid your warranty by rooting the phone because for doing that you must replace the firmware with a rooted one
Unroot and use a JIG and you'll fake your phone, 'regaining' your warranty.

There is other methods of rooting where you don't need to replace the kernal or firmware... This shouldn't void warranty as the custom counter doesn't increase, this also means there's no need for the USB jig..
Have a look at " easy root galaxy s2 " in the forum threads for instructions.
Cheers
Samsung service bulletin clearly stated custom roms and or rooting invalidate Samsung's warranty .

It really depends what country you live in, but in mine, a warranty is implicit - and while screwing around with your phone may void the warranty, it depends on what should be expected.
Given Samsung have clearly allowed ROMs to be easily flashed to devices, if you wanted to push hard enough, they would still have to honour the warranty whether you flashed a new ROM or rooted the device.
Of course if you screw up the device by doing these things, then of course, the warranty is voided - just like if you take it for a swim, or blow it up with dynamite.
Hello, I know it has been posted here million times but I would not like to brick my phone.
I just got my Moto Atrix before 5 months. Quite like the phone but I heard you need to root and unlock the device to experience a great and fast smarthphone so I did. I was using CM7 all the time.
I unlocked my bootloader / root using this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423
Everything works great but my Wi-fi is starting to weird out and it does not want to work correctly. I wanted it to return it to the shop, so they could fix it / get me a new phone but when I was there the last time, the girl rebooted my phone and saw there the "unlocked" text on Moto logo. She just gave me the phone and said to go out. I would like to remove that Text from there but dont know how. I was reading a lot of posts but everyone was saying : once you unlock bootloader, its permanent. Yes, I know it. I read all FAQs before flashing.
All I want is to remove the text so I can return them the phone.
Thanks
The only known way to do this is to flash the stock SBF. But it has to be exactly the one that was installed before any modding. Yes, that means you'll have to remember what exactly version and variant of the stock firmware you had before. SBFs are extremely dangerous so make absolutely sure you know what you're doing.

Very likely.
removing unlocked text
You may want to try this before flashing sbf. This method worked for me. . No guarantee it will work for you . but i think it just might. first thing is to flash the 2,3,4 4591 fruitcake. then update to 2.3.6 45141 from the official motorola software update. the unlock text should be gone if you are successful in doing this. I did this several months ago because my camera led burnt out. good luck. also you may want to try to go to a different store or service center. :fingers-crossed:

You can't return to Motorola? I have not heard of, or read of anyone having issues with an unlocked bootloader when sending in for warranty. Is there a reason you have to return to the shop and not Motorola?
It doesn't need to be the same and exact SBF that was on it originally, it just has to be a SBF that is compatible with your phone. I remember I soft bricked an atrix while rooting it, and flashing an old AT&T SBF hid the UNLOCKED white text.
Basically you need to find out which SBF would be compatible with your phone. It shouldn't brick your phone unless you downgrade firmware, which is a huge no no on the atrix

In Singapore, Motorola would not even accept the phone if its only rooted. As long as the phone is modified in some way (unlocked bootloader/ rooted), your warranty is void.
Sent from that Atrix.

Not necessarily my friend. When you unlock the bootloader the text displayed states that unlocking your bootloader MAY void your warranty. It at no time says WILL void your warranty. Now, in Singapore you may have problems returning a phone, but I am assuming he/she is in the UK if on O2. There are a number of threads where people have returned unlocked phones to Motorola and had them repaired or replaced without issue.
OP, doesn't matter if you bought your phone from O2. It will still have a Motorola warranty on it. As long as you are buying new or refurbished from a reputable dealer, then you should be fine. You can go to Motorola's website and check if your phone is in warranty or not.
At the end of the day, worst they can do is tell you that your warranty is void.
i just got mine fixed, no problem with unlocked text on
the only problem they will lock your phone forever before return to you
Bottom line is, no matter what you do, Motorola can easily tell if you've tampered with your phone in an "undesirable" way, and it's ultimately up to them whether that will be a problem or not. Sometimes they are generous and don't care, other times they are merciless *****es and will make your life hell (and charge you for it). YMMV.
Im currently using 2 android devices, the old one is already rooted using CWM recovery. The new one is quite costly and that's why wanted to make sure if rooting the device will void warranty?
Consider that im unrooting the device completely, before taking it to a service center.

First things first, To put it simply yes, it does void your warranty, And in this case, you are unrooting it to seem as if it was untampered with. That should do you just fine so long as there are no traces of any rooting left behind. Also with that in mind, some newer devices have built in tamper checks that may or may not be reversible. That might not be the case for your device but i figured i let that be known also.

thank you for solving my issue.
Another question, How do I make sure that traces of rooting isn't left behind?
The newest device I intend to root is Galaxy note 2, does this device comes with a built in tamper check???
The device which is already rooted is Galaxy Star Pro, it has only 1 month of warranty left, what measures should I take before handing this device to the Samsung technicians ?
