I'm looking to buy a friends Verizon Lg G3 but I wanted to make sure if I could use it on my Sprint network.
So my question is, if I buy his Verzion LG G3 and get Verizon to unlock it, will I be able to use it on Sprint?
Thank you
If you could get Sprint to allow the device on their network, and that is a big if, you would not be able to use their LTE network. The Verizon G3, the VS985 supports LTE on band 3, 4, 7, 13. Sprint is using band 25, 26 and band 41. You would theoretically be able to connect to the slower 2G networks and maybe a 3G network but that's a maybe. I wouldn't expect Sprint to even consider letting you bring on a Verizon device. Good luck and update your post with the results.
Just additional info, to my understanding no Verizon phones are Sim locked any more.

Hey everyone,
I just searched this topic and didn't find any definitive answers so I thought I'd ask...
Anyways is the VZW Galaxy S4 SIM unlocked out of the box? I keep reading the new VZW releases in 2012 and onwards are according to the VZW forums and website but then I found a post of someone asking VZW for an unlock. It its an official code its easier to just ask VZW as I meet all the requirements (1+ year customer). Also I read that on the S3 the APN settings are blocked on the default VZW firmware unless rooted. Is the APN settings on the S4 open (changeable) by default?
Also what's a realistic battery life you guys are getting out of this phone?
Am comparing phones and need a phone that is:
1. SIM Unlocked and APN settings changable that has VZW's US CDMA and LTE bands PLUS ALL the international bands (the 4 GSM and 4 UMTS international bands).
2. Has HSPA+21 at least.
3. Long battery life to last the day.
4. Rootable so I can get rid of VZW crap and increase the battery life.
I've also not seen any international VZW phones with HSPA+42 dual carrier like Apple's iPhone 5. I'm also debating getting a Android versus iOS phone...

Recently took my S4 to Brazil and spent a fair bit of time talking to Verizon Global Support before the trip. One of the questions I asked was whether the phone was SIM unlocked so that I could purchase a SIM card while in Brazil and use local service down there. The VZW rep assured me the phone was indeed unlocked, but I did not use a Brazilian SIM card while on travel so I cannot confirm via personal experience.
I can confirm that it is unlocked. I put an active att sim card in, that then allowed me to add the correct apn info. I was then able to make calls and use data.

The SCH-I545 has Quad band GSM/EDGE frequency's (850/900/1800/1900) and Quad band UMTS/HSPA (850/900/1900/2100) As well as AWS bands for LTE (1700/2100) so it should get LTE on T-Mobile. However, it does not have the capabilities to get LTE on AT&T since the SCH-I545 does not have the frequency's to operate on AT&T's LTE network but it will get HSPA+ on both networks. It will work on Sprint as well but it will not get LTE since its two LTE bands, (700 and 1700/2100), are not compatible. Sprint operates on the same CDMA/ Ev-Do bands as VZW so you will get 3G. I can confirm that i have used the SCH-I545 with an AT&T SIM card and i got HSPA+ speeds.

The AWS is there but not activated yet. for now you will only get EDGE on t-mobile unless in a refarmed are you will pickup HSPA. you will however pickup all AWS tis summer when verizon activates that band on our phone.
SOURCE: I'm on the 30$ a month prepaid with t-mobile. edge sucks but it works.

Hi,
I have had the same outcome, voice and data work, BUT data is only HPSA+ at best. Do you get 4G LTE or found a way to get it?
Thanks!

No, but that is because i am not in an area where ATT has LTE turned on. South Dakota is still on the waiting list. Verizon uses different frequencies for LTE then ATT does.
Verizon has never locked their phones, even the CDMA ones. If you put a non Verizon SIM in you can change the APN settings

It depends.
Verizon 700MHz Block C band 13, 1200/1900 AWS band 4.
AT&T 700MHz Block B Band 17, 1700AWS Band 4.
So the answer is only in markets where 1700AWS Band 4 is deployed for AT&T otherwise you ge HSPA+ which is not truly 4G.
Yes, he is right above. Where I live and have visited, I get LTE on both ATT and T-Mobile, or Edge on T-Mobile where they haven't yet refarmed their Edge towers. H+ is fine for me though, when I do sometimes see it. I have not had my Verizon LTE sim in my VG3 for over a month.
I get ATT LTE on the G3 often in regions like the NC coast where T-Mobile is only Edge.
My nexus 5 died and i need a new phone. I have a Verizon LG G3 that I can use but I cannot get it to see LTE, only HSPA on AT&T.
I did some research and it seems I need to unlock carrier frequencies, or something similar.
SInce the phone has TWRP and is unlocked, is there any specific ROM I can flash to unlock all carrier frequencies? I really liked that with my Nexus nearly anywhere I went in the world I could just buy a sim, pop it in, and go. No hassle.
Thanks for your help in advance.
thats not needed with the VS985, all you literally have to do is insert your sim card, and then get the proper APN settings and thats it
It's just that the vs985 only supports band4 LTE on AT&T. In some coverage areas AT&T does not offer band4 LTE. If you are in a non-band4 area, you cannot get LTE from AT&T there, HSPA is the best you can get.

. Could someone please help me find the correct settings to make A Verizon LG g3 work on AT&T 4G LTE in Birmingham Alabama. I have already gotten a SIM card that is supposed to work on unlocked phone from AT&T however for some reason I cannot get 4G LTE only H and when I use speed test it only runs a maximum download of about 6.5 mb/s where is the same sim card in my htc m8 will run an average of about 25 mb/s I have tried various APN settings obviously I'm doing something wrong any suggestions will be greatly appreciated thank you in advance
You Must be on 10b or 11b radio with a non stock (Cyanogenmod or AOSP ROMS) to get LTE working on AT&T. That's the only way I've ever been able to get LTE working on my VS985 on Cricket Wireless (which is owned and operated by AT&T). If I use a Stock 5.0 or the recent stock 5.1 ROM with the newer radios (12b and up) I will only get H+.
There is no fix for this that i'm aware of other then running Cyanogenmod and 10b modem.
The Verizon LG G3 (VS985) only contains LTE Bands 4 and 13 (plus the unlockable Bands 3 and 7). Band 13 is only used by Verizon, while Band 4 is used by T-Mobile and somewhat by AT&T in major cities. Outside of those major cities, you'll be on 3G (H+).
If you plan on sticking with AT&T or an MVNO of them, you should pick up the AT&T model G3, as it has AT&T's primary LTE Band 17, and Bands 2 and 5 that they use in some markets.
There was a thread about this but it just kind of died without any answers. I know the complication with this is that Verizon is CDMA. I was talking with a friend that's a Verizon cell site tech, and he said that all the new sites and small cells are LTE bands 13,4,2 only... no CDMA. Of those 3 bands, the tmobile has 4 and 2. Some, I have read, are able to use their Verizon v10 on tmobile. So I'm wondering, with the fact that the new sites and small cells around me only uses LTE and not CDMA, am I able to use a tmobile v10 on Verizon? Has anyone tried it?

I will soon be testing this. Bought a unlocked tmobile v10 off swappa...gonna try it with my Tmobile prepaid sim to see if I can actually use their service in my apartment....then will try my active VZW sim. According to spec pages i have read, should have the correct bands for LTE for vzw.
Sorta worked. The t-mobile V10 recognized the VZW number and sim. Calls worked (disable Wifi calling and volte). I had to add VZW APN settings, and it connected, and recognized Verizon network, but I could not get a internet connection. Not sure if i had the wrong apn settings or not.
how were you able to edit the apn settings? when i try i get an error, i've unlocked, rooted, deleted the telephony.db nothing seems to work.
