Wondering if there is way to remove the white text from the LG Splash screen saying Bootloader:unlocked. with you relocking the deviec ? dont know if this was asked i look into the general and help, on Tmob foruns and original v10 forums and i did search. on both didnt see this come up really. if any point me to the right direction would be great. or let me know if its possible or not possibe thanks !
No. You would have to modify the bootloader itself. The only way to get rid of that text is to re-lock the bootloader.
Thanks

I'm sorry, sure you get threads like this a lot from newbies like me, but I am getting a bit confused and there is such a wealth of information that it's all going over my head.
I have some questions that I am sure plenty of you could answer.
I have recently purchased a T-Mobile HTC Touch Plus, I unlocked it using Oli's unlocker.
I have since tried to install the 3 UK .cab file because that is the SIM I have and I want to use the internet/send MMS etc - I use an installer I found through searching this forum and it said that it installed, I have turned the phone on and off and still the MMS wont send - it says it can't connect - have I done something wrong, not done something? How can I sort this out?
Further to this - how do I debrand the phone so the T-Mobile buttons/options are gone? Oli told me it was something to do with ROMs but I don't really understand - what are ROMs? What do they do? How do I install them? And finally, why are there so many, are they different and in what way?
Last thing, is there anything else I should do? Any recommendations?
Thanks so very much, I know there is a lot to answer but I do appreciate it!
thought someone would have responded by now - have a butchers here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Niki - this will answer most of your questions - in regards to debranding not much to debrand really apart fromt the today screen this can be done by tapping start/ (personal tab) today/ (items tab) and deselecting the t- mobile box, in my case it was orange, and select htc home, hope this helps
First I would like to thank the community it is by following your amazing posts that I have been able to get my phone upgraded to windows mobile 6.1 with gps and rev A.
1. I would like to know is there a easy way to flash just the boot splash back to verizon in case of warranty.
2. Is that a way to change the number of the bootloader and current rom number to match what you find on a stock verizon phone.
as when I took for phone in to swap it out because of a defective keyboard the checked the boot up number be did not notice it was wm6.1 lol
thanks again
sorry If this has been answer else where I did a Google search for here and ppx ggeks
Guys, you really should start using the wiki as that's what it's there for. There are stickies at the top of the forum and nobody uses them.
Every single one of your questions is answered in the wiki.
sorry still new around did not mean to be a noob
hey sreed77, welcome to the community!
gc14 is right, they are answered on the wiki but sometimes its tough to find info there, we understand that.
both of your questions can be summed up simply with one statement: dont return your phone for replacement if it is not stock. Its very easy to return your phone back to the stock config. If you ever need to, just download the SPL relocker. there are tons of links around here for that. Its made by the same guy that makes the original unlocker (2.4 HARD-SPL) and it basically changes that fancy multicolor screen back to the one that HTC originally shipped. at that point just go to htc's website and download the newest verizon rom. www.htc.com/us/ i think is the address and then click on support.
actually i take that back. install the new verizon rom from htc first then relock it. (it really shouldnt matter but sometimes installing roms will give you issues if you are not unlocked).
i have done this twice to my modded 6.1 phones. once you have downloaded the new roms from HTC, those will flash the current (non hacked) radios as well as the roms. everytime i have sent mine in, i dont even bother setting up the device. the first time the warranty people see my phone, they have to do the screen calibration if you have any other questions, just ask. this is a community of people who all started out not knowing jack at one point or another
Hey Guys,
I recently got a HTC HD2 as a gift from a friend. I am loving this phone - such a huge screen (I used iPhone 4 recently and it seemed so small then), amazing touch sense and overall experience.
I have been browsing the XDA forums for quite some time. I have few issues/queries that I want to get cleared up:
1. My HTC is locked to T-mobile, USA and I am in Canada. I have been unsuccessful in getting it unlocked. I contacted couple of shops who claimed to unlock it through the code but cudn't get the code. Anybody has any idea why is it hard to get HTC HD2 unlock code? I read somewhere that my IMEI number belongs to the new T-mobile series. Cud that be a problem? What do you guys suggest on getting my phone unlocked? One of the shops told me that they might have to flash the ROM but I don't know what that means....which brings to us to my next question...
2. What does "Flashing the ROM" means? It is about rewiring the ROM? I heard there are custom ROMs. What are custom ROMs? I need to figure out this ROM stuff. I know what is a ROM....I just want to know how this thing and different jargons work wrt Mobile phones.
3. Is there is any benefit of running Andriod (Froyo) on my mobile? I would love to have Andriod since WinMo has forced me to reset the phone more than I have resetted my previous smartphones per year. But, I think Andriod is still in development mode. What are your views on this issue?
I am going to browse the forums more and try to be active here. I hope these queries are a good point to start here.
Thanks in advance.

LMAO! commical how uninformed supposed phone technicians are, , ,no, flashing will have no effect at all on sim lock.
but I don't know what that means....which brings to us to my next question...

think of the windows cd rom, , you put it into a blank computer, and it installs itself, , well a rom is kinda like that. A big file that, when you hard reset (or immediately after a flash) installs itself, complete with all included software, onto your phone. If you flash a new rom, its like using a different windows cd. 'chefs' can 'cook' roms, , get rid of operator added rubbish, add tweaks and programs, etc etc.

read, then read more, then read again. Read the stuff youdont understand too, be a knowledge sponge, soak it alllll up. Everything (and i do mean everything) that you want to ask has alerady been asked, and usually answered, if you trawl through enough threads.
As the title say's I'm creating this thread for all us carrier locked Xperia S owners to subscribe too. this way we can subscribe to this thread and keep it updated on the latest news of root or unlocking the boot-loader.
YOU CAN'T ROOT LOCKED BOOTLOADERS
I will post new info when I hear something new. Feel free to add news as well. Lets just keep the comments about the topic. No need to fill it with junk that doesn't belong here.
Maybe true maybe not. Silly tech support, they don't have clue. Should have known better.
I talked with sony today and they assured me my rogers branded phone will be getting ICS and the updates will be around may 18th. I kept telling them if my phone is branded to rogers it can't happen as rogers needs time to add their apps and stuff. again sony said they are doing it different with the xperia s and all phones will be getting ics at the same time. may 18th.
so i don't believe them but maybe if more people call we can get a better idea when it's coming.
If you call and hear something different please share in the thread.
Now can someone stick this please? And maybe write YOU CAN'T ROOT LOCKED BOOTLOADERS in big red letters in the OP.

Don't you think that will change in the future?
That's what the thread is for, news about unlocking un-unlockable bootloaders or rooting without it.
I needed this thread XD Thank you mate, Im subscribed now to know inmediatly when I will be able to root my phone!
however it is a bit annoying If this thread is filled with useless posts, just as my one at this moment. there isnt any way to subscribe only to editions in the first message?
I just thought I would shed a little ray of hope here
Apparently there is a way to root with locked bootloaders for official ICS on the Arc S, Ray and Neo V
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600728
So maybe when we get ICS we can root without unlocking the bootloader
Yeah, the problem is when we will get ICS....we want root now! xD
Got phone from Orange, locked to Orange. Locked bootloader.
Asked for unlock key, threatened to leave.
Received unlock key. Phone unlocked. Surprise - Bootloader unlockable after restart *yipee*
Left Orange for good.
Ok I just had a thought and would like your feedback.
I have my xperia sim unlocked.
what im thinking is putting in my none rogers sim,(my other sim is smart, go Philippines).
then updating my phone with sony software and when it say's i have the latest and ask if i want to repair it. select yes and maybe it will the n download another version of the software because it knows the phone is sim unlocked.
what yeah think? would that be even possible to have the software change the ability to have the phone say yes to unlock boot loader.
Not a chance!!!
The bootloader is as it says
"a bootloader"
That means it is a seperate part of the operating system.
When you update/repair your normal running rom/operating system that is the ONLY part that gets updated/repaired.
Your bootloader is never touched

In and suscribed Thanks for the thread!
I managed to purposely get into qhsusb_dload, any way dump the contents of whatever I can?
Device manager now displays it as SEMC Flash Device.

Cool, what does it mean for us looked down users?
Replied from my little computer, Xperia S.
Not much, since I have no idea what to do with it... it's basically that I found the "test point" pin, and that it still behaves in the same way as it does the the 2011 locked Sony phones.
However, that's the simple part, now we need to wait for the unlock tokens to become available or however the old way worked on the old phones.
UPD: no, it looks like the permissions are correct on stock rom, so it won't work.

There's the new exploit thing for the HTC One X, it might work on the XPS too, at least I couldn't find the reason it wouldn't. However my device is unlocked so I can't test it without relocking. It should be safe though. Anyone who wants to test is welcome to #xperia_s_root_test @ irc.esper.net

Generic bruteforce script. although it looks like they're just trying A-Z, not 0-9 as well, which is incorrect as Moto bootloader unlock keys have numbers as well. Their to-do list also lists "removing consecutive characters", but that's also incorrect, as some of my bootloader unlock keys from Moto have had consecutive letters (UU) and numbers (44).
The BL unlock code is 20 alphanumeric characters long, so 36 possible choices for each character (A-Z 0-9), so 36^20. That's a total of 13367494538843734067838845976576 possible combinations. Good luck bruteforcing that!
