Go to terminal type su
Type : ABS
Type : 2 ( PDB Zone)
type : 6 - and choose multitasking

That is so easy just flash it and enable terminal from sttings> devloper option > local termianl .
Run local terminal from menu type su and enter ( be sure your rom have root access enabled for the rom too and the terminal too)
Then a line wil come iroot aomething that means you have root acess to app .
Type ABS since u have flashed the first attached file.
Menu will appear then its vry easy to complete as i said.

Thanks will try and let u know....

Thanks Hardik190,
Worked......installation once done properly was a breeze!!!
Early observations......video playback of HD 1080 much smoother.....without the slightest stutter(previously there).
Other tweaks are minor .......but overall the experience is much smoother......like almost I am operating Note 5 or something
Will report back after 3-4 days of use.

since people do not pay attention at this FAQ linked in miniCM7 first post,
[*]i decided to create a new thread dedicated to Q&A about miniCM7 and nAa's kernel
this thread is the place of your questions, answers, tips about nAa's kernel and miniCM7 by nAa
so please, as usual, read FAQ, use search option or anything else before asking commonly answered questions
the FAQ will be incremented when needed
the Q&A are in random order
before all the Q&A below : one is most important :
in order to install miniCM7 2.1.X you NOW need :
- to read this upgrade guide
- to read that post
- to unlock your bootloader (see also here)
- to flash nAa's kernel for X10mini, for X8, for x10miniPRO
if not, you will brick your phone. -> read this then, that may help you : !!!!
--> i think it is still too small ...
something else that is useful to read before asking :
Here we (nearly all? XDA members, regardless of being devs or only users [like me], me at least ) don't care about your good/bad English the important is trying to be understood and to understand the content of the threads
only ask things you can't find, or you don't understand, please if you don't understand something in any process tell us exactly where is your problem : it will optimize the answer
sometime rephrasing things can make you understand better, feel free to help us for making the most understandable sentence for anybody
i'm always trying to use a proper English (not so easy for a non native English ^^)
but if there's something misunderstood because of my English your are welcome to correct me
BUT if you don't make the effort to read, I won't make the effort to answer (ok, you can't read everything... but read the minimum )
that's it
Instructions regarding miniCM7-2.1.X installation:
Download the latest all-in-one package from the release link that follows
Backup your /data contents: contacts, apps, sms, etc. or backup via recovery
Move the MiniCM7-xxx.zip to the root folder of your sdcard and rename it to update.zip. Optionally, download the suggested Google Apps for CM7 (check http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/ if you want to experiment with other gapps versions)
Unlock your bootloader, if you haven't already, using the stuff in unlock/ folder. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225 for a nice tutorial
Flash the nAa kernel using Flashtool. To to this:
- Turn off your phone
- Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
- Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
- Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Once the logo appears, press the back button repeatedly to enter CWM4.x.
- Select 'backup and restore -> Backup'
- Select 'wipe data/factory reset' (SUGGESTED)
- Select 'apply update from sdcard'
- Flash gapps
Reboot (first boot will take ~2 mins)
Once your device has booted, you can navigate to CM Settings -> System -> Update notifications and select 'Register'. This way you can get update notifications on new versions of MiniCM7!

for miniCM9 refer to THIS THREAD PLEASE
for quick search, use ctrl+f and enter keyword, you should find an answer to your question
1/ I can’t see incoming call number, what can I do ?
Change CM Settings -> Lockscreen -> Style options -> Incoming call style choose sliding tabs
2/ my LED is not blinking properly is there any way to change that?
If you’re using miniCM 2.0.5 you must delete delete /system/lib/hw/lights.x10mini.so
If you’re using miniCM 2.0.6 & 2.0.7, 2.1.0,2.1.1, 2.1.2or2.1.3 you must delete /system/lib/hw/lights.robyn.so with rootexplorer or any other file manager that allows you to explore and modify root files
handcent led settings does not work properly with lights.robyn.so
of course, you need to reboot your phone after that.
then : After the restart, go to CyanogenMod settings/Interface/LED notifications/Advanced make sure everything is unchecked, select Reset and then reboot again.
of course, you need to reboot your phone after that.
also try this : go to CyanogenMod settings/Interface/LED notifications/Advanced then tick and untick "random colors" this may solve everything if not :
MarkMRL said:
By ticking and unticking everything a few times randomly, I probably triggered the random flag to update correctly, thus fixing the blinking color. Now I can select a color and have it blink normally.

you can"t delete the file? see q33/
REDELETE AFTER EACH UPDATE if you have the same problem SINCE THE FILE IS REWRITTEN
this Q/A2 is also True for all builds of MiniCM9 and 10
3/I want SE stock keyboard on this ROM !!
Just long press on any txt you’re typing on, “choose input method” then choose default input
4/ I’m already running an older version on miniCM7 (2.0.4 for example) do I have to perform a factory reset/ full wipe ?
There’s no need to factory reset in that case
you may have to perform this to avoid performance issue : here
5/ I’m already running an older version on miniCM6 (1.0.2 for example) do I have to perform a factory reset/ full wipe ?
Yes, absolutely, same as if you were under gingerDX, SE stock rom or any other non miniCM7 based. you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved
q4/ and q5/ : to upgrade from any version of miniCM below 2.1.X you need an unlocked bootloader, and to flash nAa's kernel !
all is explain in the first lines of this post
6/ how can I activate overclock or undervolt ?
Open CMsettings/performances/CPUsettings/ then tick overclock OR undervolt, undervolt is automatically activated with overclock.
Remember not to tick “set on boot” option if you’re trying frequenies upper than 710 that could make your phone unstable or being damaged.
for miniCM7 2.0.6 you also need to flash the module hotfix to see overclock/undervolt working
no need to install that for 2.0.7, see Q 16/
for nAa07+ and miniCM7-2.1.6+, Open CMsettings/performances/CPUsettings/,
Remember not to tick “set on boot” option if you’re trying frequenies upper than 710 that could make your phone unstable or being damaged.
Since OC is now embedded in kernel, no module to enable (so OC option disappeared!), if you want to OC only, just choose the freq, if you want to undervolt too, tick undervolt option !
7/ i'm actually using Xrecovery can i install miniCM7 directly ?
no, you can't, you first need to install clockworkmod recovery from the link given in the first post (put in on the root of your sd card, then reboot to recovery, "install custom zip", reboot : cwm recovery is now installed, you can flash this ROM )
8/ i can't download some apps from the market
download 'market enabler' and select T-mobile Usa as fake provider, then retry to search and download them. that should work
9/ random problems that are unknown for anyody?
reflash the rom, i.e. reinstall the rom zip trough recovery
&/or
first backup, then do a factory reset, or restart from the beginning, it could solve lots of problem (you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved)
you may have to perform this to avoid performance issue : here
10/ i own a X10miniPRO (u20i) does this ROM suites to this phone?
NO,No, and No this ROM is ONLY for X10mini (e10i/e10a) not for any other phone [a version is also available for X8, in the X8 section.]
edit : there is a version for minPRO available here so the ROM suites to X10mini, X8 and X10miniPRO in their respective version
11/ my battery is draining so fast ... what should i do ?
first calibrate your battery by fully charging your phone, then reboot into recovery, select Advanced/Wipe Battery Stats and then unplug and reboot
if there's no improvement so far
- see if there's app running always in the background
- look in CyanogenMod settings/Interface/LED notifications/Advanced make sure radom is not ticked
12/ i have installed minicm7 when i power on the phone it stuck on cyanogen 7 logo. what should i do.
does your phone comply to the conditions of the first post ?
if yes and if you can access to CWMrecovery, then reflash the rom and/or factory reset (you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved)
if not or if you can't access to CWM use Sony Ericsson Update Service to recover your phone as if it was out of the box (you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved)
13/ in the default input method, when i scroll down/up the "-,?,!,@,_ ..." & emoticons menu until it stops itself, the keyboard remains froozen
rotate your screen and this will be fixed, and don't scroll this violently
14/ app2SD and other features aren't working with 2.0.6, why is that?
for miniCM7 2.0.6 you also need to flash the module hotfix to see all the modules working (oc; uv; app2sd...)

16/ i want to install 2.0.7, do I have to install hotfix from 2.0.6?
no you don't : each hotfix is specific of each version
"module hotfix" was for 2.0.6 not 2.0.7
17/ where are market, gmail and other google apps ????
you seem not have read carefully the first post : you need to flash gapps via CWM after flashing the ROM in order to use google services!

there is an app2sd storing to FAT feature.
so you don't need any ext partition

I reply to myself after getting help from matmutant.
I was looking for two different things: Getting the Sony Ericsson menu to the market, and enabling the Road Sync app that's free for SonyEricsson X10 mini users
To enable the SonyEricsson market, you need to edit the /system/build.prop file. Please be careful when you edit the file. If you mess up the file, you might get a phone that you can't boot (this can be fixed, cause i messed up a couple fo times I explain this later).
You can either just change the keys, or do like below: comment the old values with a # as the first char on the row, and write the new below.
Code:
#ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-google
ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-sonyericsson
ro.com.google.clientidbase.yt=android-sonyericsson
ro.com.google.clientidbase.am=android-sonyericsson
ro.com.google.clientidbase.vs=android-sonyericsson
ro.com.google.clientidbase.gmm=android-sonyericsson
For enabling the RoadSync app (or i guess any other app that want's to verify that it's running on a real SE-phone), then do these changes:
Code:
#ro.product.model=X10mini
#ro.product.brand=SE
#ro.product.name=robyn
#ro.product.device=robyn
#ro.product.board=robyn
ro.product.model=E10i
ro.product.brand=SEMC
ro.product.name=E10i_1237-0392
ro.product.device=SonyEricssonE10i
ro.product.board=delta
#ro.product.manufacturer=SE
ro.product.manufacturer=Sony Ericsson
As I mentioned earlier, i messed up the /system/build.prop file at one point. To get this fixed, i just rebootet into recoverymode, and mounted /system. After this i could use adb (found in the android-sdk) to copy back an corrected build.prop (./adb push build.prop /system/build.prop)
I had also an other issue with the android-market app. It crashed and got stuck a couple of times, so i fixed this by uninstalling the recent update from manage applications->All->Market.
I hope my changes don't break anything for the CM7, so please if you know that CM7 needs any of these keys i changed in build.prop, then please inform me

20/ i can't pull off the notification menu by pressing the bottom of the screen after opening notifications... only for 2.0.7 and previous builds!

regarding 2.1.0+ and custom kernel :
my phone is laggy with 2.1.0 and crashes when screen goes off
it seems that on some phones, lockscreen is related to phone crash:
waiting for a fix,DustArma found a workaround :
DustArma said:
To everyone who has the lockscreen crashing problem, just disable it.
Go to Menu > Settings > CM Settings > Tablet tweaks > Disable lockscreen.
Now it won't freeze, but of course you won't have a lockscreen, that could be fixed by downloading a custom lockscreen from market though

for 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3,2.1.4 & 2.1.5 there is no offline charging due to kernel+cwm (not implemented yet ?), as a result, the phone boots up

33/ how to edit/delete stuff in /system using rootexplorer?
in the top of rootexplorer there is a button (mount r/w)
touch it, then it will say the /system is mounted as read/write and the button becomes (mount r/o) or something like that
you now can edit the files
34/ if you disabled the bootanimation, the first boot after applying update will seem to be VERY VERY VERY long with a black screen. don't be afraid
for 2.1.6+, when bootanimation is disabled, the kernel bootlogo is displayed instead, after a purple led blinking once
35/ can i apply update 2.1.3 without flashing nAa kernel05 ?
you shouldn't try, 2.1.3 is dependent to kernel05 !
36/ how do i enable USB tether?
settings > wireless and network > network sharing
37/ i've got an issue with SDcard : i can't install the rom since CWMrecovery says that sdcard cannot be mounted !
download sdcard formatter from here and format the sd
then copy/paste update and CWMrecovery should mount sd and install update successfully

supercharger optimization that can be usefull :
before updating to newer miniCM,
unsupercharge,
delete supercharger backups and
update to the new miniCM,
then resupercharge if you want
if you don't do that, you may experience some tricky problems if unsupercharging newer miniCM !
if you didn't, ofc don't complain about performance problem
SuperCharger v6 update9-RC1 ONLY for SuperCharger v6 update9 6.2.2 see the middle/end of this post!
first optimization:
1 Download SCRIPT MANAGER FROM MARKET
2 Go to this thread and download SuPERCHARGER SCRIPT 6 update9-RC1
3 Open program, load the script, Tick option run as ROOT.
in program dialog, type "1(fast)" and "enter"
4 answer properly to asked questions by the script !!
5 In main Dialog, type "4" "super UL (aggressive)" and "enter"
6 type 30 (exit) and then "enter" -->at the top you see: running becoming exit code0
7 press "close" (it was "kill" while the script was running)
8 reboot
9 now your phone uses supercharger, you don't need to run it again
another one that seems to be better for our phone (since miniCM7-2.1.3) :

9 now your phone uses supercharger, you don't need to run it again
then settings > CMsettings > performance > compcache > 18% ; reboot
do NOT use the two at the same time, i recommend the second for better results (at least it is better on my phone)
if you want to undo theses opti :
1 run the script
2 choose 1 (fast)
3 choose 15 (UnSuperCharger)
5 wait
6 type 30 (exit) and then "enter" -->at the top you see: running becoming exit code0
7 press "close" (it was "kill" while the script was running)
8 reboot
9 now your phone uses no more supercharger.
of course, if you have any comment about the tweaks, better tweaks or anything else (e.g comments about the way of introducing the process...), please tell me

40/ why do i have an annoying pop up asking for unlock key when i boot up my phone?
ferotakis said:
after little talk with one my friend we figure it out why in some provider is asking this code and in some not( like my case)
The reason is: This ROM is not legal I mean the original one from the Sony who before opening to users in theirs regions firs will be sent to operators , operators check it and then when you use for example Vodafone.de Vodafone.de if aprove the Sony ROM send a notification to users for a update is ON. When users updates their phone with the operator passed ROM they can be ''seen'' by the operator what type of phone with what type ot Android they are use and can send them auto setings like the APN MMS and etc.
If you want see the truelles of this just call your operator and ask them for auto APN . Try it if you have x10 mini with stock rom and with x10 mini with this one
In firs one operator say you : Ok i see in system you are using x10 mini vith android 2.1 i will send you the setings . But with this room she/he ask you what type of phone do you use bicoz I cant see it on system.
This is same wit the automated operator menus too : when you pres 4 (for example ) in voice menu and ask for a auto internet setings the autovoice say sorry we not support you phone yet will try again later.
This is not big deal for now bicoz the most of operators APN is already configuret but if you use operator who is not includet you cant use mobile data bicoz you not have APNs.
That is wy this code is asking for when you put some of providers sim some of them make theirs system in that way ... its more easy for them but for us is just annoing popup window

Code:
ro.telephony.ril_skip_locked=true
then reboot
to re-enable change the value to "false", or delete the line
how to : use rootexplorer,
go to the right place,
then long press on the file,
choose "open in text editor" in the scrolling menu

Here's a brief explanation for A2SD/DC2SD/Swap:
A2SD/DC2SD only makes sense if you have /data that is over 200MB i.e. many apps.
Swap is useful if you need to run memory-hungry apps or wanna have more apps loaded in memory.
Any size for swap should be good depending on your needs (e.g. 128MB). To verify a2sd is loaded, run df via adb shell. It should show /data/app and /data/app-private mounted in /sd-ext.
Also /data/dalvik-cache should be mounted to /sd-ext/dalvik-cache if DC2SD is chosen.
To verify swap is used, try the command 'free' via adb shell.
None of the above are for the everyday/novice users. You have to know what you are doing.

[GUIDE] Supercharge V6 Setup

Many of us wants to have super snappy phone, but as time is going, phone is getting slower and slower..
So that's why some devs make scripts.. But not all have the same desirable effect as this one
First, I want to thank @zeppelinrox for this awesome script..
Truly amazing work, dude!
So in this guide I will show you, how to set best values for DX step-by-step.
I'm doing this on clean install of AOKP as I'm writing this tutorial, so results may be different on Sense ROM
You don't have to wipe whole system to get this working!
So, let's get started!
_________________________________________________________________________________
I. Getting things ready
1. Download script
Latest one can be found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51069066
Don't forget to rename extension .pdf to .sh!
2.Install SManager
Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.tools.scriptmanager&hl=sk
3. Move script to /sdcard
_________________________________________________________________________________
II. SManager
1. Browse as root
When you open app for the first time, it shows you dialog windows. Click on 'Browse as root',
confirm su request and click 'Ok'
2. Open script
After you opened it, click on Su icon (droid with bones) and Run it
Now script should start, so let's get it set up
_________________________________________________________________________________
III.I Driver Options
1. When prompted for Enter key, click Enter lol
Script should start from option 29
2.Exact process
-Scrolling speed: 1 (fast)(isn't that fast)
-Kernel Strength (Reboot Tolerance): (N)one
-SD Speed Tweaks: Yes
-3G TurboCharger Enhancer: Yes (boosts 3G networking)
-Detailing on boot: Yes (every second boot)
.
Warning!
Fix Alignment, Wheel Alignment and Fix Emissions should be disabled for Sense ROMs,
as it leads to bootloop (mySenseDX)
Otherwise, on AOSP-derived ROMs only Fix Emissions should be allowed on boot,
as other two settings are combined into that one
-Disable AWESOME V6 Animation: Yes (It doesn't even work for me)
This part should end with V6 Animation, so press Enter after prompted
Next part is number 10 (Cust-OOMizer)
__________________________________________________________________________________
III.II Other stuff
1.CustOOMizer Minfree Values
Minfree Calculator calculates best values for not patched services.jar (later), so for now
only confirm with Yes
Later, when we patch it, we set higher values for faster phone and more free RAM
At the end of explanations, where were fix applied, press Enter
2. Jelly ISCream Parlor
This is the part where services.jar should be patched, but for now, we should skip it
and do it after all the things are applied
So press E(X)it
Script continues with option 1, but you should already see that phone is 50% Supercharged
Other 50% will be gained via services.jar patching and ADJ Entries, which should be added after
patching.
In this option, only press Enter when prompted
___________________________________________________________________________________
IV. Additional Tweaks
So now, we continue with other settings
1. Nitro Lag Nullifier (Option 22)
Description within script says all about it So enter (N)ullify
2.Flush-O-Matic Engine (Option 17)
This one takes care of cached apps, so unused apps are 'flushed' away from cache and phone seems
to be faster (and it really is!)
-Continue and Flush it all away? Yes
-Change Engine Options? Yes
-Enable? Enable
-How often? (Discutable) No really, I preffer that cache is flushed every hour, but results may vary
If all goes right, after explanations press Enter when prompted, reboot phone normally
and we should proceed to..
__________________________________________________________________________________
V. Patching services.jar
Follow Option A (lazy me ): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914159
In-script:
-Supercharge services.jar? Of course Yes
-Launcher Strength? Die-Hard
Maximum Multitasking Mods? Yes
Important info says everything about why we're going to raise values with CustOOMizer
I did the whole thing only via USB adb, so you should too
Device may bring bootanimation while pushing patched services.jar! But don't worry, reboot to recovery via

Actually, it does make your phone faster, if you follow the tutorial

im very sceptical towards all those performance-/enginges/tweaks/scripts-stuff. there are tons of them, kinda annoying.
still waiting for placebo-engine which speeds up your phone by doing absolutely nothing. :victory:
seriously, last time i tested pure performance x for example, i noticed no difference (ok, animations where disabled, but i dont need a performance-script/tweak to do that)

Actually, you are right.. Every of these scripts have some parts of supercharger, definitely. But this one is pretty unique and not placebo (at least for me)
@zeppelinrox wrote pretty good explanation of what does the tweaks within script really do to phone
Pure Performances tweak isn't too great, making phone faster via disabling animations do nothing and even stock version of it slows down many ROMs that I've tried on DX

Improve the Device Performance Using ShivaY Script

Most of the device makers, install their own apps to market themselves which makes the device slower sometimes. The bloatware is a huge threat to the AOSP Android and should put to an end at some or the other point. Rooting a device and uninstalling all the bloatware will usually do the trick but will not remove the lag entirely, but thanks to the developers we have many scripts that optimize the device performance and offers great performance boost to the devices. Today I am going to show you one such script which gives a spike in your device’s performance.
The ShivaY Script to improve the Android Device performance by adding many performance scripts together. The best aspect of this script is that, you need not use any commands to run the performance scripts once launched which is actually a great deal than expected. The ShivaY aims at reducing the performance lags in the device without impacting the battery life. The ShivaY tweak is slim and sleek with accurately targeted to reduce the lag with the entropy engine and other scripts, gaming performance is another add on to it.
The ShivaY script lists the following features for your pretty device:
Super Fast Performance
Best battery Life
Custom Entropy Engine
Superb Gaming Performance
Awesome Responsiveness
Super Slim & not messy like other scripts just Flash & enjoy
No command needed
This tweak is compatible with almost all device running either stock AOSP ROM or an custom ROM, so you won’t need to bother about its compatibility. Battery life is also expected to be improved with the ShivaY script as the entropy engines reduces the lag in the device which results in low RAM utilization that results in an improved battery life. Installing this tweak is very simple and all you have to do is to grab the Zip file from the below download link and flash it via any custom recovery on your device.
Link : Shiva/s/8yp0ae2wulhly4g/ProjectShivaY.zip?dl=0
Just Remove Shiva and Type Dropbox.com in Link
How To Install:
boot into TWRP Recovery on your device using any 3rd party app or the hardware combinations.
In TWRP menu, select Install which will take you to an inbuilt file manager.
Select the zip file using the file manager.
Once selecting the Zip, the recovery will ask for the confirmation. Swipe to confirm the flash.
After the Zip is flashed,
you’ll get the option to reboot the device or get back to the main menu.
Select Reboot System if your task is accomplished.

Flash the ToolBox 2015-01-08-v42 by jcsullins into /boot
________________________________________________________________
After successfully flashing any of the listed ROM the ToolBox can be flash into boot to maintain the battery.
Do NOT use the ToolBox to Resize or Repair Android Volumes.
If done it will corrupt all the Volumes ( Partitions ) and a PC with the Novacom driver must be use.
The ToolBox does not display the /swap partition, it was not created for that purpose.
Only after flashing all files from this guide the /boot partition has just enough space for the ToolBox.
7. Click Here to download all the files to flash the ToolBox to boot/
Flash_TPToolBox_v42_to_Boot.zip ( delete any splash *.tga images files and copy ToolBox into /boot )
Remove_TPToolBox_v42_from_Boot.zip ( delete the ToolBox from /boot )
If more than one ROM got flash and the ToolBox was not successfully copied to /boot then use this file:
Clean_Boot_Remove_All_ROM_Files.zip
It will create a back up of the boot files and clean /boot preserving the basic files, MoBoot and TWRP.
Then the Flash_TPToolBox_v42_to_Boot.zip can be flash.
Plus the Universal Optimize Swap Settings for the ROM installed in the Tablet.
The Universal Optimize Swap Settings copies the boot uImage for the ROM into /boot.
Keep all the downloaded files in the Micro SD card (USB Media) /external_sd ( it goes by all those names )
Any of the listed files can be flash any time and a PC is not required to maintain the battery of the Tablet.
Special Thanks to Jcsullins "The God Father of the HP Touchpad" for all the unique and great software that made it
possible to transition easily from WebOS to Android.

Disclaimer: I am not a developer, just a regular user like YOU that have found a way to improve the Tablet and would like others to benefit by sharing the information.
I am not the creator of any ROM, Recovery or App mentioned or used. All credits goes to the developers than have worked and provided the best ROMs there is for our Tablet and there are way too many to mentioned, but everyone know who they are! Thanks a lot to all of YOU (Developers for the HP Touchpad)!
Special Thanks:
@flintman for all his work creating TWRP Recovery and the many customs ROMs with the latest PIE.
@elginsk8r for developing and maintaining Evervolv ROMs, currently PIE.
* The stock Kernel has been modified to provide more RAM and a higher frequency.
Does seem pretty responsive, even though i have been downloading apps etc, to get it set up. I downloaded the Gapps as well not sure if that was mentioned in your post, but it will be necessary if you go with a clean install. With the DU 11/16 kernel couldnt get the play store to work. went back to the 6/18 and it worked but no videos would play...... so updated again to 11/16 and now both seem to be working ok. I think that could have been a problem with the initial ROMS, its been awhile so i cant remember but there were a few bugs there to work out as well. I will keep checking it out...
Thanks very much....much simpler
@ Touchie Pad,
Thanks for trying it out!
It will only work as intended by downloading the "Skz Kernel Optimize and Swap Partition enable" links provided.
It will not work at all by only downloading the ROM. The Dirty Unicorn ROM Kernel does not provide support for the swap file or optimized Android.
The proper Installation is:
1. Flash DU ROM "du_tenderloin-v12.5.3-20181116-0140-RC.zip" ( It has to be that in specific)
2. Flash one of the SKZ Kernel speed provided ( Without it, no optimization or use of the swap partition will happen"
3. You can install any Google Open Gapps, I have installed all version , please provide a link to the one that does not work for you and I will try it out!
4. If you want Root access you must install SuperSu and the SKZ Kernel allows System read and write ( is a complete open system)
Let me know if those were the steps you followed otherwise I will try to explain my instructions better!

It is FAST and you can do a lot on it, mostly is all about the settings apply in Kernel and Ramdisk that makes the magic and giving Android OS room to breath by placing in swap unnecessary services not need it at the moment, instead of killing it and been limited to only 1GB of RAM, it can expand allocating a lot of memory to the active application. Once you close the App Android will clean up the RAM and load it from the swap file and everything goes back to normal. Android is the perfect OS for swapping.
Can you share which Kernel speed worked for you?

1782000 is what I flashed of the swap enabled kernel. That speed has been working well for me so I stuck with it. I am still using a few options in the L Speed app also. Nothing that contradicts the changes you have made. Just a few extra boosts and streamlining. The battery seems to drain more slowly also. I have not reflashed the A6 battery firmware since enabling swap and I expected the higher speed to drain more but everything is working great. No problems, no worries.

Contrary to believe a higher speed will not drain your battery. By using this settings the Tablet will have an extremely power efficiency. A higher speed only means if the CPU needs power to run an App is not going to be limited by the governor, but when idle does not consume much power. The modules on the Kernel have been remove so there is no kernel workers checking on how much memory to clean and all that extra task that is not need it. If your tablet will run at 1836 you will see the big difference, but if you are using any App to improve anything you are not going to see the full potential benefit. All those apps are only setting things up that are already set and working in the background slowing things down. None of them are need it, this is been run as a Tablet mode setting not a Phone.

I did it in that order...used pico and micro, also had the problem with the AOSP keyboard stopping which i remember having when i first flashed the ROMS. I flashed the 183 kernel..... works fast but i did have a reboot on the second day and the screen was just dark, rebooted a couple times and then reflashed the rom, and optimize, and super su files ......and all is up and running again. I was seeing -220ma drain up until i reflashed it. I will give it some more time to sort it all out, and play around with it a bit. The video playing is 1,000,000,000 times better, i love it, thanks a lot

All the testing that I have done and prove to be stable is on that version, I can only recommend what I have tested.
2. Flash one of the SKZ Kernel speed provided ( Without it, no optimization or use of the swap partition will happen"
All the settings are on the Kernel and Ramdisk (the boot image) no settings are on any ROM. If that Kernel is not apply no performance will happen it will be worse.
3. You can install any Google Open Gapps, I have installed all version , please provide a link to the one that does not work for you and I will try it out!
4. If you want Root access you must install SuperSu and the SKZ Kernel allows System read and write ( is a complete open system)

Yes you are correct the Keyboard stops working in most of the ROM that is why I recommend it to install the FULL Google open Apps because, it will replace the stock Keyboard with the one original from google.
The issues has been around for as long as I can remember. The only way around is to flash another keyboard after installing pico and micro or you can do it manually. I do not know if I am allow to distribute google keyboard as a separte flash-able zip file, that will resolve the issue and all open gapps will work.
which i

If your tablet reboots at 1836, it may not be able to sustain that speed and it will be better to go for 1782, you will still be able to do the same. The CPU does not work at that speed all the time, only if it needs to and the cap is at 1836, but if stays that high and your CPU can not handle it then it will reboot, but others can maintain it.
I will give it some more time to sort it all out, and play around with it a bit. The video playing is 1,000,000,000 times better, i love it, thanks a lot

You will be able to play videos in HD 720 using youtube app and also the web browser. I use Opera as is easy to change to desktop mode and play music with the screen off. It can play for days none stop and no reboots, you can watch movies back to back a HD 720 no issues and will never close down or reboots, that is why the use of the swap file as an extra space to allocate memory resources.
But the most important do not install any app to optimize anything, it will make it worse, all the Kernel modules have been removed, there is nothing an app can do, just work in the background and make things worse.
It is set up to run as your PC or Laptop not as your Phone, that is the difference!

@HP_TOUCHPAD I have flashed the 1836000 swap optimized kernel and left things as they are. Interactive BFQ the preferred setup for best performance? In the Toolbox I have set it just below performance with dynamic scaling as well. This TouchPad functions like a tesseract now. Speed of light? Bwahahaha, that is nothing compared to this.

I updated the guide and added the Keyboard Flash file to be use with Pico and Micro and the others. My advice, if you want the Tablet to run smooth fast and stable, flash all those files in that specific order and everything will work as a brand new device.

I know that is very contradicting after been accustom to use apps to get better performance, but with this set up none can be use.
The Kernel modules have been removed, there is nothing an app can do, it may even make the system unstable and worse.
The best is to disable the ToolBox in Evervolv. Is best to completely disable any background tune performance app. There is only two Governors Interactive and performance.
Is set to interactive by default it scales perfectly, no app is need it for that to happen is control my a kernel module.
Keep the system lean and simple you will get the best performance and efficiency. There is nothing to do, just don't install bloatware that will use resources without you knowing and creating lag.

With this age device and a swap partition in the flash memory being used often, it will likely degrade somewhat faster. No guarantee or prediction of how much faster because all devices behave differently. Think along the line how different TouchPads can functionally use different max processor speeds. You can have a quick and functional TouchPad that will degrade faster or one that is usable for almost nothing.
Great tutorial dude. Thanks !
Waiting to reboot after flashing rom/gapps/keyboard/kernel/su right now..

I updated the guide with a short statement. I want to make things very easy and quick to follow but the problem is that there are more Taboo to dismantle than the settings itself.
I will try to explain in in here:
A swap file is created by default in all modern Linux installation. There is nothing new about this and everyone that has ever owned a PC knows about it.
Swapping only takes place when the system requires more memory than is physically available.
Any time you would like to see how much memory Android is using type this in on PC using adb shell or in terminal in Android:
free -h
This is Dirty Unicorns with basic ROM installed:
Code:
[email protected]:~$ adb shell
[email protected]:/ # free -h
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 828M 574M 254M 0 5.4M
-/+ buffers/cache: 568M 260M
Swap: 504M 0 504M
Is the basic ROM nothing installed.
This is Dirty Unicorn installed with Micro gapps as the guide:
Code:
[email protected]:/ # free -h
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 828M 804M 24M 0 8.9M
-/+ buffers/cache: 795M 33M
Swap: 504M 16M 488M
There is 16MB used in swap, because the system is set up to 60% swapping.
Android is the King of swapping, it does it all the time. Is not a true multitasking OS, it places background Apps in hibernation, temporally storage. Then when active it pick ups where it was left, it gets awake. The swap file is the perfect place to place anything that the user is not using at the moment and then load it later. It is not going to be use to be running the OS, it will be extremely slow to run Android or any App directly from swap space. Is only use to free RAM to run Apps and make the system stable instead of killing services and process.
The swap will help all the components by making the CPU, RAM and storage work less. To keep Android alive with only 1 GB or RAM the CPU has a lot of overhead and the RAM is been constantly in use. For example zRAM, compress Memory for swapping. The CPU has to compress and uncompressed everything that is going into zRAM plus the RAM is constantly been used with read and writes, none stop.
Is the other way around with swap, what is not need it is place there, nothing else is working , all at rest!
Hopefully this explain a little is the basic!

You are welcome, but the only way to find out if the tutorial is set up properly is if the user can achieved the results.
Otherwise something got lost in the translation, hopefully it worked for you with no issues.
Update:
The Keyboard zip files got updated today February 23, to completely removed the LatinIME directory and then recreated again and copy all files the files from google Open Gapps Keyboard.
Pico works great now, it will be best to install the minimum and add Apps as you need.
The computer I used somehow deleted most of what I backed up from my TouchPad. It kept the TWRP backup of /boot in existence. For anyone with ample use and data on theirs this could aggravating but it caused me to do a cleaner clean install. I did not remember which apps I had on mine so I now have less than 80 total apps on mine and after flashing the full wipe zip and the swap partition creation zip I restored my backup of /boot so I had a TouchPad Toolbox uImage available in moboot and a spectacularly quickly performing tablet. Minimizing excess like this made my TouchPad as quick and responsive as the new iPad one of my roommates recently got.
I have one suggestion and one question -
Setup instructions for swap will be more understandable if accompanied by full written step-by-step instructions.
What are your thoughts on the effects of setting the number of background processes maximum to one or two after boot?
Swap allows for more to be done without lagging but these are still 8 year old tablets so I am curious about the expert opinions. @HP_TOUCHPAD and @shumash
It would be helpful to hear both of your thoughts on this matter.

When you back up the tablet using TWRP, you have to select the partitions /System and /Data. Boot is not necessary at all and you do not want to back up or restore boot in this case as it will restore LVM old configuration files. That is the reason that this guides wipes and reformat /boot and places TWRP on it.
For anyone with ample use and data on theirs this could aggravating but it caused me to do a cleaner clean install.
A clean install is the best option to do, there are Apps that will back up only the Apps if you do not use the Play Store

After you do apply the Full wipe zip flash file it is not a good idea at all to restore /boot, and there is no need.
Boot keeps the uImages of the ROM and LVM ( storage partition configuration and size ). It could keep the old partition layout, I have not tried that myself.
Minimizing excess like this made my TouchPad as quick and responsive as the new iPad one of my roommates recently got.
The less Apps you have or keep it to what you really needs, the faster the Tablet will be. This apply to any computer. The worse is to have bloatware, most run in the background or create process that keeps the CPU working most of the time.
I have one suggestion and one question -
Setup instructions for swap will be more understandable if accompanied by full written step-by-step instructions.
What area do you think that must be written better?
1. How to back up and restore.
2. Or the process to flash the Wipe_ALL zip flash file.
What are your thoughts on the effects of setting the number of background processes maximum to one or two after boot?
The background process limit that you can setup under Developers options is how many Apps Android will keep in pause (hibernation), when you open another app, it has nothing to do with process that are launch to collect data or updates. Those are terminal commands to apply to each specifically installed Apps to prevent it from activating its data collection. Keep in mind Android and many Apps are free, but in exchange off data mining.

Can you provide the link to the experts options? """ Corrections , Gborg3 said opinions my brain captured options """" This is a great example when humans interact!

The tablet is old but the basic of streaming HD video, using the Web, running Apps, all that can be done as with any other device. The most important is to have the most current ROM and the open gapps installed.

would a nexus 9 be really slow now?

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap tablet for web browsing and watching videos. was thinking of picking up a used nexus 9 for about $70. I know older devices run slow I guess cause of aging ram that doesn't perform as well as it use to. I'm wondering if it would be slow or would it perform like it was when it was newer?
One word answer. Maybe!
slightly longer answer. As long as it`s still used regularily the n9 is a ideal tablet. Battery may need replacing and an upto date rom is a must. Mine still holds its own 5 years on.
quit a bit slow. last year i used it to study. I think It should be upgrading to 4Gb memory

I ended up buying one on ebay last night. probably keep the stock rom on it but remove forced encryption.
For this price is a good device...yes, it can run yet well (in my opinion, the ram memory was the problem on this device)
_N9, for run better and perform better,my opinion is: Remove forced encryption / Install FireIce kernel / Install Gov-Tuner Project / some build.prop tweaks - Stay in stock rom,it works more stable than any custom rom...(only Slim Stable 7.1.2.build.2.0 works very fine)
Slim Rom downloads: https://slimroms.org/#/download
(you can remove some applications, which are not used frequently and consuming pores from the system)
* because of a little ram on this device,we only install the necessary applications! stay away especially from social applications, like facebook etc..

Can I use nexus root toolkit to remove forced encryption on my nexus 9 running android 7.1.1? I notice where it says select the android build you are currently running, mine isn't there. is it safe to use the "any build" option. and follow the directions in this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFVpr6IoL-Q&feature=emb_title

the Rootjunky in video he knows well & has experience ...BUT ! Look at the title of video carefully ...Says "Lollipop data Encryption"...your android version is N
also, this video is from 2014 ! therefore, very old file
So,my opinion is : you can use TWRP & DM-VERITY & FORCEENCRYPT DISABLER file + magisk (or su) , very easy... - recommended

It's not complicated at all.... you just start with the right series - right way
1-unlock bootloader
2-Install TWRP
3- Install slim stable 7.1.2 - [ Nano Gapps /disable encrypt/ magisk (or su) ]
4- Flash FireIce kernel
5-Flash Gov-Tuner (download Universal Init.d Injector & kernel sepolice patcher(or better The SELinux Switch) to change SeLinux to permissive( https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-selinux-switch-t3656502 )
,download kernel adiutor from playstore & use it, etc...
It takes a little time, but no need hurry of course

I did steps 1 and 2, then I installed fed patcher v8. but I'm not sure if it worked. heres a screenshot. also I ran this adb command "adb shell getprop ro.crypto.state" and it said its encrypted.
I wiped everything except the system partition before flashing fed patcher. after some research, I think I'm suppose to use the format data option?

I figured it out, had to format data.
I haven't touched encryption, used ADB though to reduce installed apps ( for user 0 ) to 65, old nexus 9 more responsive & can be left on for days at a time whilst idle, more RAM available for user too. Also, all those removed apps aren't trying to 'phone home' with Telemetry now. Used for browsing & downloading movies it's perfectly acceptable.:good:
