Xiaomi RN3 Unlocking BootLoader - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello Hi to all Devs'
Seemed that xioami just implemented their new laws of consequences. By locking their latest released products. Thats includes RN3.
For those whom interested to root their units have to go through their tight system to get clearance for rooting.
To me this is a scam implemented by xiaoami to safeguards their business and jeopardizing the free will of RN3 (all locked units) owners.
I do hope and request to all developers .......
Please produce any kind of modding which can UNLock the RN3 bootLoader.
Thanking you all in advance
REGARDS
TQ

I will put it on hold for rmn3 and redmi 3 due to locked bootloader, yet have to beg for xiaomi for unlock code.

I don't know about the begging part, I've just registered on their request page, waited about 2 weeks and got my code. I've heard that now it's even faster, they were surprised by the number of requests at the beginning.

chances I won't get permission to unlock?

I only wrote that I plan to study android development (though that's a way in the future). And I got paranoid and tried to submit more detailed explanations, though I believe they were automatically rejected (I couldn't read the Chinese pop-up). It's only been a couple of days or so since my first attempt, has anyone be been rejected? I'm just a little worried. If I were rejected I'd have to sell this phone(though I really love it, I think if I get to unlock the bootloader I'll just flash twrp and magisk and keep the stock or modified stock rom, I've never bought an American phone with so little bloatware and so many useful tools built in) and find another Chinese phone that doesn't require manufacturer permission for root...

Is it a new Xiaomi account? Most likely you will need to be more active with your account to increase your chance of Xiaomi granting you permission to unlock your device.
So go to the Official Xiaomi forums and participate in the polls, contests, and replying to threads to increase your account activity. Do it daily!
Also for the unlock applications, use your forum username as opposed to your real name to increase the chance.

If you don't get approval after a certain amount of time can you request it again? I put my real name because it said not to lie on it... I would really like to keep this phone, but if I won't be able to configure it as I please...

Use Proxy/VPN of china server for submitting your form. It worked for me.

If your application gets rejected, you can always apply again. I followed this guide not too long ago. It says you can use your forum name or real name.

Since I had my account since 2013, I got permission to unlock instantly after I applied. When I tried for my dad's account, he had to wait about a week.

Huawei to no longer offer unlocked bootloader after May 2018

Huawei will no longer offer unlockable bootloaders on their devices after May 2018.
They'll end support for unlocked devices sold prior to May 2018 in 60 days.
Here's the article.
Anyone else up to speed on this?

I just saw that last night. I think it stinks. We have 3 honor phones in our family. The older phones get 60 more days of unlock possibility. Guess I will request unlock codes for them while I still can.

the cynic in me is convinced that Huawei is bowing to Chinese government pressure.
to keep tighter control over Chinese citizens, and to prevent them from getting around the GFW.
sh!t move, they deserve to lose support and good will from the community.
thanks for the post, now i have to request a code for a Mate 9.
Is this in any way relevant if you only have the Nexus6P from Huawei (and no other Huawei propducts)?
I thought all nexus models are unlockable by using fastboot or am I wrong about that?

Lol, I was going to say, I don't expect us to get anymore OTA's that would be able to relock our bootloaders.
The 6p hardware is made by huwai but the branding is Google. And Google handles the software updates and I dont think Google would ever lock the bootloader on a Nexus or pixel phone

It may scream Huawei. Even it Google bought the hardware from Huawei, it's Google's software that is running the phone. Essentially it is Google's phone that they sold to the public. Locking the bootloader is a decision that Huawei made to do with it's branded phones (Honor and Huawei phones). From Huawei, "In order to deliver the best user experience and prevent users from experiencing possible issues that could arise from ROM flashing, including system failure, stuttering, worsened battery performance, and risk of data being compromised, Huawei will cease providing bootloader unlock codes for devices launched after May 25, 2018." It added, "For devices launched prior to the aforementioned date, the termination of the bootloader code application service will come into effect 60 days after today's announcement. Moving forward, Huawei remains committed to providing quality services and experiences to its customers. Thank you for your continued support."
Again, this only impacts the Huawei and Honor phones. Not phones that other companies may have purchased from Huawei and rebranded as their own. Also, just to point out it does impact all Huawei and Honor branded phones. It's just that the "older" phones are given an additional 60 days.
Chinese GOVT has 2 much power & influence...
Nese govt is a ? anyway, never had a phone that was Chinese owned. I was worried even w/ ? bootloader, the nese govt has implanted Spyware or worse inside the firmware, a hidden partition, & or even the actual silicon! No thanks.. Suspicious w/ trade war heating ?. Probably have enough sold 2 cause chaos... I think I've heard I heard it all....

Bootloader Unlock code?

Now that Honor has stopped providing the unlock codes for the bootloader, how to get it?
Or from now is impossible to install a custom recovery or root the phone?
You have to use DC-Unlocker to read the bootloader code.

have you actually tried? because not officially supporting and not working are two different things, people with different not supported models were successful when just using auto detection
also try different countries support email, in my home i was not successful, in Germany they gave it to me (though i asked prior deadline but received it two days after deadline)

So probably i sould waste at least 4€ to trying to get a code? All this because Honor has taken this stupid decision.
Btw somewhere i've read that Huawei has patched all backdoor used to get bootloader codes with these alternative ways.
Yes i've tried. I'm italian and first i've asked on Italian network, after on German network and they still wont give it to me.
1. i answered you how to get it
2. there was 2 months period before deadline everyone knew they will stop providing codes, so you either had plenty of time to get a code or not buy phone without this option if it's such issue for you

Hello everyone, I am from Ukraine !!! The company Huawei and Honor do not take into account any reasons, I have been writing them to various mail and support services since the week, starting with Chinese, English, European support services, and the answer is the same everywhere.

And in my country in general, when they hear that I have a Chinese version of Honor 10 SALT-AL10, they do not want to talk to me !!! Thereby, I infringe upon my rights, since I bought a smartphone, I paid the money, but I cannot fully use it. This is similar to the fact that I bought meat, but I can not eat the whole piece, because the manufacturer has caught it, and said to eat half.

[News] 2 months wait period to unlock bootloader

https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-2-month-wait-unlock-bootloader/
The situation is getting worst after we had hard time request for EDL, and now unlock BL with 2 months wait period.
I'm kind of disappointed with this rule.
What do you think?
Last Xiaomi for me, after the policy of not allowed to lock bootloader with global rom and now 1400 hrs of waiting. Next phone for me Oneplus for sure.
Also better quality control, this phone have vertical color banding.
Very bad decision from Xiaomi, you see on every forum hundreds of bricked phones from Xiaomi because of not communicating this with their customers.
A damn shame, a company that abuse their customers like that is just incredible!
Also almost no development, the forums are just filled with people who are asking for help for their bricked phones.
Just insane!

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone have a guide to rooting the Mi 8? Don't need a custom ROM, just want root access (I assume this still enables OTA update from Xiaomi?) All the guides I can find are from random websites and months ago when the phone wasn't even available worldwide yet.

Honor Re-Opens bootloader Unlocking on a Limited Trial for XDA

Honor's recent decision to end bootloader unlocks for their phones upset the entire community, us included, and we've been working feverishly to get them to change the decision. That said, it takes time for complaints to climb the ladder of such a big company, and we've had to settle for baby steps. :fingers-crossed:
We asked Honor for the reason behind this action and this is what they said:
"\The unlock code application service was closed on May 24th for all Huawei/ Honor products as a security measure and to avoid issues caused by ROM flashing. The decision to close the page ensured Huawei/ Honor could continue to provide an excellent user experience for all global fans.

XDA Developers are actively engaged in software development and they constantly provide valuable suggestions to optimize Honor products. Based on their feedback, that unlocked bootloaders make it easier for them to develop and create, Honor has decided to re-open bootloader unlock on an exclusive number of codes to the XDA Developer community. :highfive:
The unlock codes are available for download exclusively to XDA Developers on a first-come-first-served basis via this online form....Update: thank you to all that applied for an unlock code. We are no longer taking requests. Unlock codes will be sent out in batches, starting the week of 25 September and continuing until the end of the year. Further instructions will go out via XDA PM asap. . XDA users can apply for the codes using the form and all applicants will have the opportunity to share their feedback. It might take several weeks to receive an unlock code after requesting one, but we'll work with Honor to expedite the process as much as possible.
XDA will continue to work with Honor to give users a strong voice when decisions are made that affect their user experience. Finally, they had this to say:
Honor phones and systems have gone through rigorous testing and improvements, which is why Honor is able to offer great products at good prices for global digital natives.

Well I am a Huawei owner and I already have my code. But I would like to still thank XDA for pushing this, and actually doing something.
Really hoping Huawei will come up with a solution.
To be fair, I kinda understand them. As it is right now, the OS on the phone is way too fragile, and you can end in a permanent brick way too easy.
But that is something they should fix on their end and not punish users for wanting to have control over these great devices.
Like, I love my Mate 10 Pro. It's one of the best on the market I believe. And hell, I am ready to purchase a Mate 20 (Pro?) if it comes out. But only, if we get custom OS support. Don't get me wrong, I actually like EMUI, and I totally don't get the complaints about EMUI. Trust me. If you complain about it, go and try Touchwiz. You will know hell. However, at some point, Huawei will stop providing updates or will focus on later models. At that point, I would still like to stay 'fresh' and have a lean OS. I had an S3 LTE, a Note 2, Note 4, LG G4, LG G Pro 2, and Cyanogen/Lineage and the others have given these devices new life.
Ps.: tl;dr: If we get custom roms, I keep buying them, my family will buy them, my friends will buy. If not, well, we all go to other brands.
This isn't just spitting in the face of users right?
Hope they change the decision and permanent opening bootloader again.

Well I for one do NOT understand them. It's absolutely NONE of their business what we (who paid good money for OUR phones!) do with the devices! If we brick them or whatever breaks - it doesn't concern Huawei at all since it's not covered by any kind of warranty after we unlock the bootloader.
I bought the View 10 ONLY because of the Honor Open Source program and of course right after I got the damn thing everything shut down.
I for one will NOT support a company that treats their paying customers like dirt - this is my first and most definitely LAST Huawei/Honor device unless they do an about face, let us unlock our bootloaders and support custom roms. ?
This is great news. I'm glad that the talks with them went somewhere. Good job guys.
While I truly appreciate the effort from everyone involved in this action, this doesn't help anything. If the devices are not open for everyone, they are not open for anyone.
This is the equivalent of not escalating a situation with an angry customer and giving him what he wants, a special treatment, while all the others won't get it.
That's not fair at all.

This is hopefully the first step to get this decision reversed at a later stage.
And regarding your analogy comparing this to an angry customer - the people who mainly are concerned by this decision are the people who would come to XDA forums anyway. This decision is more like showing special treatment to a target demographic of angry customers than a single angry customer.
what about Kernel Source codes etc for more recent devices like honor play? are they planing on releasing any?
I'm glad to see a little wiggle room on this. But as Huawei arguably has one of the top devices on market (or so I keep hearing about the P20 Pro) it also starts to make sense.
Here's hoping a good balance can be found.

Except you don't, in the EU at least, inspite of Honour / Huawei claims software modification, including unlocking bootloader doesn't invalidate your hardware warranty.
Good to see. Well done to XDA for sticking to their guns and getting Honor to soften their stance.
Hopefully if just the start and it can become a permanent policy and the Huawei side of the business to do the same. (which I heavily doubt they will
) My P20 Pro would be a perfect phone if I could get from EMUI to stock
Hello, XDA
I am a developer, can I get this benefit to unlock the bootloader of my device Honor?
They must have seen aggresive concurrent Xiaomi taking some market share
what about lock code on Honor V10? some people write about not working old codes on ROM FW>=163 version. Via this service, Huawei sent new code for new room or include downgrading to old room warning with code?

While that IS true you'll have a hard time getting any repairs done once you unlocked it - and besides, my hardware doesn't break due to me f*cking up by unlocking and flashing custom roms etc. If someone flashes a bad kernel and blows their chip due to overclocking or what have you the repair centers can still tell and refuse a warranty repair.
Either way you look at it - letting us unlock our devices does NOT cost them anything, but it will keep us buying their phones.
