Please help me to get stock recovery and help me to flash it
just flash the zip from the thread
Go to the thread already mentioned and download the twrp flashable update.zip. copy it to your device. Now follow these steps:
1: power off your device
2: Press volume down+power button at the same time(pressing volume from a little before helps) for 7-10 seconds.
3. In twrp select install
4. Go to the location of the zip and select it, then flash it.( do not wipe data+cache)
5.reboot
No clockworkmod recovery needed. And this won't break root on system updates you will just have to update su binary after each system update.
(1) Download developer ROM from here http://en.miui.com/download-101.html#164
(2) Copy file to root folder on phone storage and rename the file to update.zip.
(3) Power off the phone then hold volume up and power key till mi logo pops to boot into recovery mod.
(4) Select language, click volume down to navigate to 'Install update, zip to System One' and hit power button to select.
(5) Wait for Install to complete (usually progress stops at 98% for while but do not panic and wait for it to complete).
(6) Now hit Reboot then Reboot to System One after update and reboot go to security enable root permission install Super SU from playstore, open the app and update Su binary.
(7) Now phone is rooted, Super Su is installed, Su binary is updated so you can go and disable root permission from security app and let Super Su manage root permissions instead.
Note- when ever you install an update from phone it will install update to system two
and when you update from recovery it will install update to system one

You can use any method, just use same method every time so one of the two system stays stock.

Try flashing it from recovery. And make sure you downloaded developer ROM for 'WCDMA/CDMA China' and not 'TD'.

Its not available for any snapdragon 800 variant. Its just for TD and CHINESE version of MI3. And even if somehow works on other MI3. If you flash this you will still void warranty as it's not officially given by xiaomi.
Now you will say how will they know. Its the same phone. They will known when you will go to claim the warranty in your country. I don't think you will go to china to claim the warranty of your phone and even if you do go to china for that
a. Your phone should have international warranty.
b. And that person giving you warranty should be stupid enough to ignore the country mentioned in your bill and also ignore the fact that no developer version is available for your country.
Lots if if's and buts and travelling just to claim warranty.
Okay, I was not sure about warranty thing any way. Will edit that. Also you could have just replied, didn't had to quote the whole thing. I am pretty sure buying new phone would be cheaper than going to china for warranty. Also I am sure people who use xda and flash custom roms would not cry for warranty. And this is no twitter so won't argue on this further.
Hey,
So I'm a noob at this and I tried to root my phone.
Got the Android unified toolkit from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746680
And followed wwjoshdew's video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPRWk8d0sUQ&hd
I picked the Allinone root option on the toolkit and proceeded. At the next step, when my phone entered download mode, it said I need to flash the recovery, recommended TWRP. But in the video, josh directly opens the root folder on odin and starts that. I did what josh did and that completed successfully. But when my device rebooted, on the toolkit, it said could not find recovery and I should try again. And there is no supersu on my phone either.
What have I done wrong? Do I need to flash the recovery before rooting?
Thanks in advance.
You have did only root.
But... a custom recovery is highly recommended (the better is Philz Recovery, CWM-based with some TWRP function).
Also a root manager is reccomended: Superuser is a great open source alternative to SuperSU, but I can't say you which is the best.
Ps actually I can't see video guide nor thread, my answer is based on what you said in the topic, so at first tell me if phone in "Settings > Info about" menu result with a custom firmware instead official. Otherwise you haven't even did root.
It's showing the stock version. No custom build. I just wanted to root so I could use apps like Greenify.
Do I need to do a flash the recovery first?

I didn't ask you for stock or custom rom. If you did root, in "Info about phone" the system status is showed as "custom".
Greenify should works also without root, but with limitations.
Recovery is highly recommended for you and also for some advanced apps who need this to flash something.
Then also a root manager for security reasons and a better device control is reccomended.
You can't stay without both, but I suggest to have both.
Ps without doing root you can't flash anything, nor via Odin! [emoji6]
It's showing Device Status as Official.
I understand that I need to root first before I can do anything. However when I followed the vid, it said before rooting if I had any recovery installed and needed me to install one first.
That's why I'm confused. I thought it was root first then flash recovery.

You haven't to be confused: for example CF-Auto-Root do it and automatically flash recovery (CWM) and root manager (SuperSU).
You can flash them by downloading the device specific file (I9300).
If you want to change root manager simply uninstall SupetSU and download by Play Store Superuser (from Chainfire eh!), if you want dislike or want to update recovery, simply flash another via Odin or zip file.
Advice
My advice is this:
1. search for a MD5 file from Philz Touch like here: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/
2. Download Odin3.09 from here: http://www.chip.de/downloads/Odin3_12992520.html
3. Go to download mode by pressing volume down, home button and power on
4. Flash it by clicking AP and select the MD5 file
5. boot to recovery pressing volume up, home button plus power on
6. go to philz settings, Reroot system
7. download SuperSu from market
Than you're done

Without root you can't do anything. This option is useful for people who have maintained Philz Recovery on an unrooted system.

Yes and yes.
Sorry for the to late reply, if you want install stock recovery download your firmware and flash the recovery via fastboot, but if you want go back to stock flash the firmware via qfil(be careful and make a backup on your external storage if you lost the imei(efs, baseband) you can restore via your backup of TWRP).
recently bought k6 power,It came with marsmallow s150 and asked to update marshmallow s156.It was about 75mb.
After it,asked for nougat s223 which i know that has lots of bugs now.So ignored the update and simply disabled update notification
I'll stick with s156 till there is a clear cut bug free nougat version. No need to install unless i want headache
Lenovo has bad reputation for updating their devices. They ruin the next version of android.Simply disaster.
So I would all advise you to stick with s156.
Bro update to S229 .it has fixed some bugs nd ui becomes smoother then previous.
Hello
I have updated to s229 by system update, i want to go back to s156.
I m on official rom. Can you guys please help?
Can i use the full ota zip to downgrade? If no then, is there any way to get the official link to download rom, i don't trust the rom from other sources and file sharing sites.
Thanks
I never had issue on s 223 even just reset your device after upgrading android ....
THIS THREAD IS DISCONTINUED - AM GETTING TOO OLD TO CONTINUE WETAmod FOR T295
I see people still trying to patch files to get root.

11. When Samsung logo appears stop pressing pwr key.
12. When bootloader msg appears, release vol up key, quickly press & release pwr key, and quickly press & hold vol up key until in TWRP.
13. Install Fix_vendor_9.0.zip or Fix_vendor_10.0.zip. (Based on installed OS)
See attached files.
14. Clear dalvik/cache if prompted
15. You will then format (NOT WIPE) data. Answer yes to the format prompt

Hi! Great work! Got root and twrp on buc3.
I'm really interested with custom roms, since I got twrp I tried lineageos 17.1 gsi but it goes into bootloop. I tried following various instructions from everywhere in the internet but to no avail.
Recently, I saw ur conversation with secretwolf and that he claimed he was able to flash gsi roms. Since there is not much difference between 290 and 295, I think it's not too far fetched to have a custom rom flashed on the 295.
Do you have any ideas on how to go about it? Thanks!

I have been staying with Samsung roms for now. I may try LineageOS in the future. But, to answer your question, maybe try and clear the data partition
This looks amazing I have a tablet on order and wish to do this.
May I please ask, once magisk is installed is that rooted done, or do I need to activate/configure magisk to root or install a module into it please (only used supersu before so unsure of magisk).
Thank you

Rooting works for T290. Maybe WETA mod works. WETAmod uses the SystemUI.apk file only.
