Thank you very much my friend. You are the man. Have a great day.

Found first bug.Was playing around with no result installation, every time I entered recovery it forgot timezone, language, storage preferences and even first dialog about "do i want to keep system readonly,or i prefer join the darkside=)",even if it is checked to stop bugging me with the same question.

I think that's because twrp settings are on internal storage and every time you wipe it you delete the settings as well. I don't have this issue.

It is not a bug. On last TWRP I set storage settings on external SD but I realized that some people don't have an external SD so they can't save settings. In this version the setting storage is Internal Storage because all people have Internal. Every time you wipe internal storage it resets.

Well you can't choose that. This is how standard TWRP is. You need to modify TWRP source.

That's quite true, but there's a flip side to it as well: given that we only have ~1.8GB of available storage, most of us are probably using atleast a 4GB sd card. Yes, I said that I don't have this "issue" because I'm too busy with university and I'm not constantly wiping my internal to flash something, but for a certain group of people at vkontakte it's an issue when they're trying out your cm12.1 builds or doing whatever else to their device. It would probably be more convenient for everyone if there was also a build of twrp that saves the settings on external storage..

Ok I will make a poll and vote for the next 3 days.

@froydenzi @shhnedo @vlmaxx In the following 10 minutes you will find a new zip file in download with _sdcard at the end. If you flash that your default setting storage will be external. Enjoy.

It comes in handy if you want to be sure that previous rom left no trash behind. Or if you want to have really fresh start to flashing/modding.

If you want it not to wipe sdcard, I guess removing that line in updater-script will help:

Well, sometimes you do want to wipe sd card: lots of directories made by applications which might be uninstalled, duplicities from different roms (pictures/Images/DCIM/Camera/...) or whatever.
But truth is there are easier ways to format sdcard...

[RECOVERY][Nexus One][FULL TOUCH] TWRP 2.2.1 with on-screen keyboard! [2012-08-05]

While twrp 2.x has been out on a large number of devices, since our team never had a N1 it's been absent from our list. Now we are happy to serve up a version to the last Nexus device on our list.
Team Win Recovery Project 2.2, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Phone look:
Tablet look:
v2.2.1 - various bugfixes and HTC Dumlock support now built in for latest hboots that don't support flashing to /boot.
CHANGELOG (for 2.2.0):
- On-screen keyboard in recovery! -- supports long press, backspace repeat, and swipe left deletes everything left of the cursor
- Name new backups and rename existing backups
- Rename files and folders in the file manager
- Pseudo-terminal emulator

- Improved zip install compatibility
- Updated update-binary source code
- Numerous small bug fixes and improvements

BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 30 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to PM me directly, contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that's struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!
SUPPORT:
Live support is available via #twrp on Freenode with your IRC client or just click this link.
Taking this one too for device specific faqs.....

Glad you like it. I know it's a little late to the party, but I figured better late than never.
I must say I was pretty sceptical this could be better than 4ext, but I am pleasantly surprised how much I like it. It is my new favorite recovery for now.....till I need to reformat my SD ext....4ext just does that better. To not have to wipe the fat partition is invaluable to me...but maybe that will be a possibility one day too. I really prefer every other aspect of this over 4ext though...very well done!

Thanks! It's been in dev for little over a year now on different devices. As for sd-ext, we'd be happy to merge a pull request with a better method, but given that most newer devices have large amounts of internal storage it's not likely we'll get to it anytime soon.
But twrp is 100% open source and we are more than happy to get people started compiling!

Im no developer and dont know what a pull request is, but the difference I am speaking of lies in 4EXT's ability to re-partition the SD card either completely (which this also does) or only the ext partition and leaves the FAT partition untouched (which this does not do). What that would entail is way beyond anything I could hope to know or figure out, but Im certain it can be done. Again, thanks for your hard work on this and for bringing it to us!

Sorry I was not clear, with 4EXT you can re-partition JUST the ext partition without completely wiping the whole card. So you can actually change partition size, type, etc....without reformatting the who SD card.

That's interesting as most methods of repartitioning a disk cause the entire disk to be wiped. I know there are some ways around it though, but we haven't looked at them I don't think.

4EXT is the only one Ive heard of....is very nice too.
So, basically, it is just adjusting the content of the partition table to make it smaller (or use any other "free" space after the FAT partition, and then to format the new partition.
Reminds me of all the old DOS based (i.e. ranish?) partition manager tools...basically a lot of low level manipulation of the data in the partition table.
I love TWRP!
Having an issue installing it on my N1, though - goomanager seems to stall at "Installing recovery image." So I need to do it manually I guess.

Glad you figured it out. The issue has been that goo.im had a mishap when updating their hardware. So a lot of data was lost. Our other download on teamw.in should point to a backup source at techerrata files.
I've been using 4ext for a long time but I recently discovered twrp (installed it on my Kindle and love it). One question before I put it on my N1: Are my nandroid backups from 4ext forward-compatible with twrp? E.g. Will twrp be able to restore old backups?
Thanks for all your work!

[Recovery] TWRP 2.2.2.1 for the GT-I9300 International SGS3

I managed to compile twrp for the SGS3 GT-I9300. I loved this recovery on my SGS1 (until I couldn't get it to activate on devil kernel) and my Galaxy Tab 10.1. It has saved my rear end several times while testing the A1 kernel. With its on recovery terminal I could dd flash the stock kernel. CWM Touch is nice but I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE the blobs backup format. It makes it darn near impossible to save nandroid backups on your computer. I can understand the logic behind the blobs format but I still hate it. Also, I think it's a shame that the American/Canadian Qualcomm SGS3 has TWRP but the international power house doesn't.
I just downloaded the twrp source a few hours ago so this is TWRP V2.2.2.1. Unfortunately, the external SD does not mount but I did manage to get adb to work. I think that you could always adb push a rom zip in the event you cannot boot, forgot to make a nandroid, and forgot to have a "just in case" zip. Also, when rebooting, YOU MUST CHOOSE REBOOT SYSTEM. If you just poweroff, it will reboot into recovery the next time. If you forget and choose poweroff and it reboots into recovery, just choose reboot system and everything will be fine.
Attached is A1 (the character my A1 kernel is named after) holding my I9300 showing the recovery. The source is also uploaded, which includes files that I've changed in case anybody is interested to know how I did it. There is a rootzwiki page with instructions I followed. Just a few minor deviations from the instructions. I did "make recoveryimage" instead of "make amp amp..." that they recommended. And the obvious deviation, our device is called i9300 not tenderloin. That's the HP Touchpad.
I flashed the latest CM10 nightly from it, the latest siyah kernel and a touchwiz zip and nothing went wrong. Also tested backup and restore. Went fine.
Here is a youtube video demonstrating TWRP on the Galaxy Nexus by some random person on youtube.
Credits: team win, siyah kernel developer (recycled your zip to make the recovery zip). None of the code is original from me. I only tweaked the recovery.rc to enable adb.
sounds Good .
I'll wait for few replies
and I'll test it myself later on

[Discussion] What are you doing now that you can root?

Personally I've deleted a couple unnecesary apps that were wasting space, and intend to make Chrome an option for Dual Window again as soon as I figure out how (it was removed, I believe in 11b, and the flex multi window mod is unable to enable it).
As more things occur to me, I'll do more things. What do you all plan to do?
So far, I've only installed greenify and titanium backup.. I'm honestly trying to figure out what else I want to do (been out of the root scene for about a year and a half between this and my old turbo, which didn't receive root until the time I got my v10)

It's cause you already have backups stored. Double check your SD card files.
So far I have uninstalled bunch of bloat wares. And I was messing with the Verizon hidden menu so now I got 4g LTE on T-Mobile. Not really sure what I did though

It's either the LG Backup folder in your SDCard or the TitaniumBackup folder. Otherwise I would scan your SDCard.

I dunno how you did that with adb so what did u do
Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
I didn't use adb
I used root explorer pulled it to my downloads folder then I connected the phone to my pc and pull it from there
But to see it in root explorer I had to mount read write options

Tried editing to enable dual window with buildprop editor, rebooted into a bootloop. Recovery has the option to enable USB debugging. Using this, is it possible to undo the change in (for example) terminal emulator, rewriting the original line? That way I wouldn't have to factory reset. I already tried wiping the cache (wasn't expecting it to work, but it seemed harmless).

That made me also go into a bootloop as well. Had to force wipe it again (good thing I backed up).

It might be because you didn't mount the SD card as writable?

To disable OTA updates I just froze the System Update application. Seems to have worked fine.

Try to install the latest TWRP if you don't have, plus make sure usb mount is checked

If updating to TWRP 3.0.2 doesn´t work, just backup to sd card and then copy the folder to PC. It´s not ideal but might work.

That's the problem, if you can check it, then your problem with transferring data is solved.

Try to install a newer TWRP if available and see if it fixes, report back
I hope this will help you
