Thats exactly what i get no matter what app i use to flip the screen.
Even a force-rotation application have the exact same result. I'm guessing it's limited to just landscape, something Samsung elected to tell us

If you use SIDESYNC you can use your Galaxy phone on the view screen. Rotate your phone and it will as well.
I use the xposed module haveownorientation and it works for me
Hi Kafinal, do you use the haveownorientation app on a custom ROM of the Samsung View? I would like to use portrait mode on full screen, without rooting but haven't found a solution for this yet
Thanks for any answer, Roy.

For me this did not actually change the orientation but instead made a Portrait App full width (and vertically scrollable)... but when it goes into full screen mode after you open a specific Magazine I just got a black screen (it one of the Cooking Magazines - in this case Donna Hay, I think Jamie Oliver's app is the same platform).
My Wife wants to use the View in the Kitchen to check mags etc, but if we are stuck without either:
- Allowing Screen Rotation for Portrait Apps and/or
- Allowing Full Width (and vertically scrollable) for Portrait Apps
....you end up with a very had to read Vertical App with Wide Black Bars in the middle of the Landscape screen
I've also tried a bunch of the Rotation Apps which just don't work.

How could you install xposed in samsung galaxy view? please
Don't bother. It does not work to force a rotation change.
@ roycon
i'm not on a custom rom, it's the original that's rooted.
@ Altuve
By no means am i an expert on android so i will not give advice on how to to install Xposed, There's tons of info on google to do it.
jmone mention that the orientation didn't change, he/she may be right as i said i'm no expert.
before the tablet was rooted i used netguard to block all connections and BK disabler to disable all the bloatware ...... BK disabler always open in portrait mode but now it's rooted it opens in landscape with the module, its not perfect but it works for me.
post a few apps that open portrait mode and ill see if they work with the module. I don't come here often so be patient.
Hey Kafinal, can you post a screen shot of your Galaxy View in portrait mode on a internet browser, such as Chrome or Firefox?
Thanks for your time.
Hello, did anybody manage to make the rotation work? I have only managed to root the device (original Samsung image 5.1), changed /system/build.prop rotation prop from ro.sf.hwrotation=180 to ro.sf.hwrotation=90, most apps seems to work well in portrait mode (full screen), but I have to use OTG mouse to control it as touch input works like it is still in landscape mode. I'm searching for any information if there is other way to rotate the screen or if there is any way to change touch input settings so it will revert axis to work properly.

Although not as pretty as fingertouch, (the animation is a bit off) it works more like a cross between FT and tengo.
It's also free until December 2008

Veeery interesting. Exactly what I was thinking with Teksoft's keyboard, except that one needs double tapping to get the letter on the right. At the time, I was wondering why someone didn't use a similar layout, but predict text based on the combinations.
Like Tengo, though, it uses a ton of space in landscape mode (haven't looked at portrait yet). Also, mine is slid al the way to the left in landscape, instead of centered. Haven't opened the other thread yet.
Thanks for posting, I wouldn't have known about it.

lmf_slacker, you sound like you have the same problem I have with all of my soft-keyboards - I click the <3rd party keyboard>, but only get the standard one.
I use SIPChange (sorry, no link, but search for it in the forums), and use it to pick your <3rd party keyboard>. Soft reboot, and it should work ok.
There's some threads discussing this problem, and fixed, but I have not gotten a fix to work. Didn't care much, cause once I pick a keyboard (currently Phraze-It for me), I will use onlyit & the standard keyboard anyway.

After installing, ensure you are in portrait mode the first time you select it (a common problem with 3rd party sips). If you then open it in landscape, the skin covers the keys as it should.
You're right though, it uses a lot of real estate. I do find it very good for finger use (which I tend to do a lot).
Thanks, I'll try that as a test, although I stick mostly to landscape, so I'd have to make it a point to rotate, keyboard, rotate for it to be clean.
Wish there was a way to specify this keyboard as the portrait default, and Phraze-It as the landscape one (or something like that).
..or mebbe a way to make the keys smaller for landscape so it would take less space (will write to the guy about some skin/sizing options).
In other news, I still have a long delay (10-15 secs) if I try to change sips.
Also, if I try to change from 1 3rd party SIP to another, the new one is always a standard keyboard, and I have to use "SIPChange" to set a new default - then just that one works until i change it again - gotta do research on that problem..

Can u extract it for me? Is there a separate CAB for it? I don't have that ROM, and I don't think it's compatible with my device.
Many thanks.
As you know, Google Photos started use bottom tab bar to switch pages, but many people hate that.
A simple xposed app to remove this bar and put them to drawer menu.
Tested on Google Photos v2.3.0.
If there's problem with next version of Google Photos, just temporarily disable it first.

It causes a bootloop on my lg g4 with cm13. I have quite a few other modules activated as well, so I'm not sure if one of them are interfering. None of them touch google photos to my knowledge though.
Nvm, it was an incompatibility with xuimod. Works as expected now. Good work!

Don't know why it doesn't work on your device, can you reboot your phone, and enter Photos once, then use adb or whatever tool is, grab log to me, maybe I can find something in your log.
Great module, thanks very much.
Working perfectly on my 6p.

Actually, I did swipe work with Google Photos v1.15 and v1.16,
but, unfortunately, it didn't work with v1.17, Google changed the construct about this part.
After that, it's not easy to let swipe work.

Any way to remove those little ugly clouds on every photo if we dont have cloud sync enabled?
The latest version of Google Photos has a issue with the latest version of the app. There's dividers between each item and they are pinned (like the Settings option in some Google apps) so the other options are scrolling in a small space beneath the added items

Hello,
and first of all, thank you for this module. I also don't like the iOS-ish bottom bar. I've got a request here, though. Could you please remove the dividers between individual items in the navigation drawer, as you did in Google Plus Bottom Bar Remover? It's only a little design issue, but I feel like the dividers don't look very well there - and since you removed them from the other app, it would be nice to get rid of them here as well.
Thank you.
Hey all - I figured out how to get a great dual screen reading experience. It requires the G8X WideMode and the ereader app Librera. It allows you to use side-by-side pages and has a true OLED black mode. There's an ad supported and pro app.
Hope this helps anyone looking for this functionality.

can please be more specific? Which one are the setting you apply to make it in dual?
The attached picture is not displayed.
Thanks.
Could you please post specific instructions?
Thanks
Full credits to OP for discovering the app. In the app, you open any PDF in "Book Mode" and change the view to 2 pages (attached screenshots).
However, you can get the pro version for free from F-Droid: Librera Reader (Book and PDF reader) - https://f-droid.org/app/com.foobnix.pro.pdf.reader
Nice, I checked it out and works. I do really hope the Kindle app is updated for dual screen. It only allows column view in landscape mode and even when using wide screen the Kindle app doesn't allow columns because it is still in portrait orientation.

Yep - I tried Kindle and Nook apps first with no luck.
Works with moon+reader pro as well. Options -> Miscellaneous -> scroll down to "Some Special Options" section -> enable Dual Pages in landscape mode, tap the gear to the right and "allow dual page in portrait mode".

Works well. But only issue is, it doesn't work with PDF files for me. For PDF i use librera PRO.
Another option
I don't have the G8X, but I do have an Axon M. The app I use is PocketBook, which by default sets the ebook view to 2 pages when you have the app in both screens. It even has the page turn animation and all.
Thanks Everyone.
This works perfect.
@YaminoEndo PocketBook works great for dual screen.
@Mohitpunjabi PocketBook not working for me, can you share the app link and settings used.
Pocket book is available on playstore.
Also install wide view app from playstore as well.
Then enable wide view from notification panel.
It should work.
Yo

Forcing full screen:
Navigate to Main Screen > Display size under settings and set each app to Full Screen
Force Rotation:
Install the app called Rotation | Orientation Manager by Pranav Pandey from the play store
Set it to Full Sensor OVERRIDE SYSTEM and give it any permissions it asks for.
Set it to Start on boot within its settings.
I expected to, but did not have to, set it to run in the background or tell it to auto boot within battery optimization. It has been working for over a week now.
I turned off notifications so it runs silently.
Thanks for this, its a very useful app! However, I just realised I don't really need it!
When I first setup the Find N, I set every app to Full Screen (as you do), thinking why wouldn't you want as much screen as possible for every app? Some of those apps will only display in portrait, hence the problem that when they start up on the folding screen, they automatically rotate 90 degress, and therefore you have to turn the device to portrait to use the app.
But I just realised that almost all the apps I have (like 99.9%) that will only display in portrait, do not need the extra width of the folding screen, and in fact end up stretched width wise. As such, if you just put those apps back to a 4:3 ratio rather than full screen (which still uses most of the screen), then they display on the folding screen in landscape (though with grey bars down each side). Another benefit is that they also don't look stretched anymore.
Great alternative, thanks.

No worries. Having just been through all my portrait apps and done this, I've also noticed that almost none of them benefit from the extra width even when they have it as they haven't been written to take advantage of it, so are either streched or have loads of space either side. Most are also the types of apps I don't care about using all the screen for, such as banking, parking, or food delivery, etc. All the apps that really benefit from spreading out such as messaging, media, video, and productivity apps, etc., already work in landscape and don't rotate.
I like to use side-by-side when unfolded, so this isn't an issue for me. Would be nice to easily swap out apps when I'm in SBS tho, currently I have to change one to floating, close it, then do the 2-finger ale again...

There is another one called Rotation mentioned above; however, other than I rarely need it anymore, it is not folding phone aware, and therefore you can't have different settings for the outer screen versus the inner screen, so if you force landscape on the inner screen then it will do the same on the outer screen.
Does this app allow you to set different preferences for the outer screen vs the inner screen?

You can swap out apps in SBS if you put them on the pop out sidebar; then you can drag the icon to replace the app in which ever of the side you want.

Ah great, thanks for the info!
I love the forced rotation setting. Is there any way to have the settings attached to the system drop-down settings? For example, if I turn auto-rotate on the phone, it automatically turns on 'Forced Auto Rotate' from the app? Not sure if that's a possibility.
Since the last system update, the app no longer works properly for me. Does anyone else have this problem?

Not sure what to say here... I followed my instructions and was able to position it just fine.
One thing I can say is if you message the Dev, he's very responsive (he's even here on XDA (https://forum.xda-developers.com/m/jagan2.1884109/)) so you can message him and see if there is something he can help with.
I'll keep poking around and see if there was anything else I can think of that I did. I'll uninstall and reinstall to see if that can replicate what you are seeing and what I did to fix it.
Found the issue, my screen resolution is set to FHD+ and not WQHD+
If I change it to WQHD+ it's fine. I'll inform the dev.
Cheers.
