My stylo (ms63110j) is rooted. Yes it is my phone. I lock myself out on purpose as a challenge. 10e firmware was easy I found a link in keyboard settings so used that to access the stock browser and used the browser as a file explorer (file://) to access quick shortcuts apk on my sd card.
I can install apps and use send commands in download mode. I have installed quickshortuts.apk via push/send commands but I can't start it while the LG setup wizard is running. So what are my options.
So far i have tried "--wipe_data" command nothing happened.
I tried flashing twrp but again nothing happened (probably because of locked boot loader on 10j firmware)
I tried activating usb debugging which works but then you need to tick a box on the phone and it wouldn't prompt so that was a fail. So i cant run commands while phone is on only in download mode.
I installed nova launcher in the hopes it would prompt with "set default launcher" and I could choose nova instead of lg setup wizard. It didn't.
So is there a command to set nova as default launcher on boot? Is there a command to factory reset from settings not the button combo method (button combo reset is what triggers this) can I have quickshortcut.apk launch at boot or a browser would be equally helpful. I can access recent apps menu if I can get it running in the background.
have you got any other weird and wonderful ideas.
I've obviously got the google account, a twrp backup and a factory kdz so don't mind if your method bricks it. It's just a bit of fun.
GOT IT.
Haha it was almost too easy again. All the old tricks are patched. I ended up going into keyboard settings and clicked on the language... option. I clicked around a bit, sellected a few languages clicked some of the gear icons etc when suddenly a metropcs splash screen popped up. It was full of data links so I was able to access an internet browser then download quickshortcutmaker apk and well you'll work it out from there.

Hi Guys
Been having a problem for the last one week. I'm on CM11 snapshot m7. I installed the One plus one theme, which seemed to run very well until my battery drained completely. Now when I boot my phone, it gives me an error message "unfortunately com.android.systemui has stopped working."
I figured it must be a corrupt theme so I just need to uninstall it. But I can't access settings, as even if I hit "OK" on the error message, the msg keeps reappearing, not allowing me to do anything with my phone.
The last solution I have, of course, is to do a factory reset and flash a working ROM. But then I'll lose all my app data. I tried the following solutions, but in vain. Please let me know if you guys can think of anything else, so as to save my app data! My last Titanium backup was a few months ago!
1. Tried to uninstall the app via adb, but my USB debugging is off, adb doesn't detect my device (and I can't access settings to turn it back on)
2. Tried to boot my phone in safe mode and uninstall the app but even in safe mode it shows the same error message and doesn't allow me to do anything.
3. Tried installing the ROM and Gapps hoping it would replace the filed modified by the theme, and my default theme would be back on.
4. Found an apk for the default (holosense) theme, converted it to .zip and tried flashing it through CWM.
5. Tried flashing the apk via sideload in CWM, but again my USB debugging being off, adb did not detect my phone.
When I had my system ui failure, I was still able to open quick settings drawer and access settings through there even though system ui was constantly crashing...

try formatting cache and dalvik and try rebooting
if it doesnt work do a clean wipe and flash your rom it should do the trick
possibly no other go
for preserving your data
do a nandroid backup first and then do a clean wipe
this way you can extract app+data from nandroid via titanium backup later
hope it helps mate
Just rooted my phone, installed and paid for Titanium Backup, and was freezing some applications to improve system performance.
Succeeded until the last time, when I should have realized that when I pushed Home, nothing happened, instead I rebooted my phone....... (and yes, I hadn't gotten to a backup yet)
All I get now is the Splash Screen, but the OS does seem to be loaded behind it, I can access my phone by AirDroid, but only over cellular, not over WiFI.

Is there an application I can side-load that will disable the Accept RSA Key dialog so that I can issue the 'pm enable' commands via ADB?
Is there an application I can side-load that will just enable all of the disabled applications?
Google searching for the past couple hours, but keep not finding anything useful.
Any other ways to fix this, other than reset?
Is there any way to exit Ultra-Power-Saving-Mode while locked out of my S5 using recovery mode, installing some update, etc? I have a lot of development experience with several languages and tools, but not Android.
I've been using my fingerprint for access for over a year and now I have no idea what my alternative password is... since I've never used it regularly and can't find any record of it. I usually right document such things, but apparently not this time.
Unfortunately, this last Sunday while in Ultra-Power-Saving-Mode something went wrong with my phone and now it only asks for the alternative password... which I can't recall. I've used the Android Device Manager 4 times since then to reset the lock PUK/PIK. After each time resetting it, the lock screen does show the new greeting I set via the Android Device Manager, but it still asks for the alternative password... instead of asking for the PUK/PIK that I just reset.
I am suspecting/hoping that if I can somehow get my phone out of UPSM that the lock screen will allow me to use the reset PUK/PIK to get back into my phone.
So, I am asking if you know of any app that can be installed remotely that will allow me to get my phone out of UPSM? Or, if there is any way to get it out of UPSM by rooting the phone, but installing an ADM update, etc.
Normally I would just do a factory reset because everything is synced up to my Google account. However, apparently my SD card, which was my primary storage, filled up on May 2, so everything since then has been stored on internal memory and thus will be lost if I do a factory reset. I've taken a lot of pictures and video of my 2 1/2 yr old boy and I am trying to avoid losing everything since May 2.
Thanks for any help.

Only option I can think of would be to install TWRP custom recovery and use the built in file manager to rename the UPSM app. This wouldn't work if you have an ATT or VZW model, as the bootloaders are locked down, not allowing installation of TWRP, but pretty much any other carrier model should be fine.
Moto E LTE stuck in "just a sec" screen of "SetupWizardTestActivity"
Moto E LTE stuck in "just a sec" screen of "SetupWizardTestActivity" :crying:
1) Any suggestion on how to cancel/escape this "first time init" application so that i can reach the settings and give the required permission to this app.
2) If above not possible then any other suggestion to get back phone in working condition without factory reset/wipe from recovery.
*Apps are still working in background , i am getting notification sound and pushbullet notification on desktop
*tried the cache cleaning from recovery. it took quite some time but after reboot also the stuck in same situation
*Completely stock phone. bootloader unlock and root not done. since bootloader unlock wipes the device i do not want to do it at the moment.
*I have installed moto usb drivers and SDK to execute adb but phone is not visible with 'adb devices' command.
* apps are excuting in background since i am getting pushbullet update of phone notifications on desktop browser but the first time setup app has captured the screen and does not alow any other activity from touchscreen.
* for some reason the Paytm app also runs at startup and runs on top of "SetupWizardTestActivity" app but only thing i can do is back soft button till it exits. cant open notification
Context and back story
I triggered the "home button not working, empty notification" of lollipop/marshmallow as detailed in the following post on my Moto E 2015 LTE surnia by trying to manage space by using the migrate data option in storage. it tried to perform migrate in opposite direction i.e. from sdcard to internal and ran out of space mid operation probably.
This issue is also reported here along with adb fix by koush

Nova launcher workaround if abd not available . 3rd last post at the bottom.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-e-2015/673227-problems-marshmallow-moto-e2-any-help.html
After this the behavior was as specified in above issue posting. home button not working (i could reach home screen by using back key till all open application as closed.), empty notification drawer, not able to reach the quick shortcuts in notification area etc.
So I tried thought some space issue
A) so i installed a few apps and cleared data of chrome, play books etc. to free up 500mb.
still same home button issue
B) then i thought it is some notification permission issue and checked various options in notification option in setting.
still no change
C) then i thought some other permission issue. So in the apps option in setting i reset the apps permission to factory. (dont remember exact menu option but it was in the 3 dots option on top right in apps setting). it gave a warning that all permissions will be reset to factory for apps
after this all apps lost all permissions and everything was asking permission when app was started. e.g. data manager app wanted permission to access data, sms app wanted sms access and so on.
**This will be one main reason for my issue at the end.**
After that I searched the issue and found above link.
so i tried the guest user login and cancel from that and the notification drawer got recovered. it was showing app notifications for whatsapp, SMS etc.
but home soft button was still *not* working
Since i haven't done any bootloader unlock and root operation on this phone i was not confident of the adb command success since it mentioned in one post that it required 'su'
So i tried Nova launcher workaround to invoke 'SetupWizardTestActivity' and it did execute asking me for
Now the initial factory inti app is running and stuck in following loop
language->sim select-> wifi login-> \
/-----------------------------------|
->privacy option->|software update check->-\
|------------------------------------------|
|-> account added -> "just a sec" ---------^
it hangs and crashes at the saving "just a sec" screen and goes back to "Account added" screen
This is due to the permission issue i created in step "C" of permission reset explained above.

Please if someone can help with ideas and suggestions to kill the fitst time installation app. :fingers-crossed:
NOTE. im new to Moto E but have been playing around with my older phones samsung s2, lg g2 and changing roms and trying out various options like CM, AOKP res remix etc.
any ideas on how to unset the flag that causes this first time installation screen to run at bootup
so apparently the bootloader unlock requires us to have a "" toggle set from devleoper option.
but we dont have a phone booting into a state that allows this toggle to be selected then we cant unlock bootloader as well.
fastboot oem unlock XXXX
...
(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Developer Options.
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.011s
as explained in http://www.droid-life.com/2014/11/0...nable-oem-unlock-option-in-developer-options/
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/help/warning-locking-bootloader-disabling-t2951312
So if someone has an idea on how to cancel the flag i somehow enabled by executing 'SetupWizardTestActivity' from nova launcher wizard.
The wizard cant complete because it doesn't have permission and i cant give permission as it is not allowing me to enter into the phone setting.
Did you ever find a way aroudn this issue? I've just run into it too..
Hello,
For a long time I'm using my good old friend OnePlus One, it works great to me on stock AOSP CM-13.1.2 until yesterday. I fail in the name of good and terrible thing has happened xD.
I wanted to stop draining my battery by apps which all the time were using GPS service to track my location so I started to make some change in settings -> privacy guard settings -> Location permission.
I tried to change the permission to those apps from "Allowed" to "Always ask". I do mistake and change permission to Google Play Services. After that I restart my phone. Now every time my OnePlus One is stuck/freeze after booting screen and I see only black screen and popup window in center with requests to give Location permission to Google Play Service.
Touch screen not working when is press to Allow, It cant go ahead to lock screen.
My phone is not rooted, locked bootloader, no TWRP, only stock Cayanogen recovery with options:
Reboot system now
Apply update -> Apply from ADB->ADB Sideload
Factory reset -> Full factory reset or Wipe cache partition ( I dont want lose my data on phone)
Advanced-> Reboot recovery
Advanced-> Reboot to bootloader
I read on internet that I need to modify or delete /data/system/appops.xml file
What can I do now, how can I do this modification without losing data.
Can I do it from shell console ADB? and which option I have to choose in recovery to connect my laptop OS: win XP with OnePlus One?
I read that i can do it by TWRP recovery but i dont have it on OPO. Can I safely flash it to phone without losing data? Bootloader is locked.
Is there any tutorial how to do it safely? How to Delete or download, modiffy and replace file /data/system/appops.xml using ADB commands, backup my personal data to PC, connect with phone by ADB with computer.
Any help needed. Sorry for my bad english.
Best Regard
ArkadiSEA
