This is insane!
i have this phone for a year and half now, yesterday i decided to freeze google play services and play store to see if i could have some gain in battery life... and god, i got plenty!
before i barely get to 5h SOT, now i can reach 7h with wifi always on, and screen on auto in house light or cloudy outside light , also the standby is outstanding too.
you guys should try it for 1 day.
Yes, there is the inconvenient of some apps not working, but give it a try!
ps: i am on all stock kitkat 20h. (no greenify or anything)
am using playservices lollipop debloated, servicely, and amplify. screen auto brightness... battery at around 30%still left i can still gain more with a few other tweaks.

Yes, my battery has deteriorated over the last 6 months. I'm on 20H also. :highfive:
My record is 103h with 2h SOT but now I'm lucky to get half of that with exactly the same usage. Even though nothing special is showing up in my battery stats, I'm sure its something OS related that has got worse. :crying:

That's not because of either amplify or servicely. With only 9h uptime and 6 hours screen, the standby drain has almost 0 impact. Also, you have almost no apps using battery (only browser and whatsapp). Couple that with periods of static screen(where gram technology comes into play) and that battery life is quite achievable.
Most guys on the g2 with 7h+ sot are usually guys who use whatsapp and apps like that, probably due to the static screen when waiting for new messages and etc and the low cpu use when idle.

I used player , freedcam, photoshop express, browser, whats app, telegrampower amp some apps dont show up..
but am pretty sure amplify works it stops wakelocks and alarms to trigger at a certain time..
we all know that . and you cant compare with games or apps they drain battery at different rates.. of course play a game adn you wont get alot depending on the graphics 3d games work harder on cpu.. well i tweaked amplify more and am pretty sure am getting more time..
here is an example for standby.
0% in 6h.
guys completly want at least 5 hours SOT, what should i flash currently on cloudy 2.2 but hear cm13 is good....
any tips with apps...

Agreed. My stock LP G2 can last at least 5 hrs at 100% on stand-by with no tweaks at all. If I don't use Google voice, I will terminate google service in no time.
Also agree with OP. Google service is a major battery drain but that's life with google. I disable google service on my kids phone "Galaxy I" and recharge cycle is about a week or more compares to a day. They can still get online and the chat apps we use still works.
Can't freeze my google app.. My custum rom not allowed this... Always boot loop...

Hello! 1st sorry if this has been awnsered before.
Very briefly, my phone only lasts about 150 hours on standby ( 1% drain in about an hour or little more )
Ive searched everywhere and couldnt find an anwser. Im familiar with the case of the xml profile or what its called xD and its not the case
Specially considering that otherwise the phone works perfectly ( I get about 4 to 6 screen hours on 3G using facebook, browsing, various games, etc ) I have also watched a 1h 26 minutes film on max brightness and only drained 20 %
But the standby battery is not what it used to be. When I 1st got the phone, I unplugged it at 7am and it stayed at 100% till like 2pm, delivering the claimed 700 hours of standby time
Now, I unplug it at 7am and by 11am its at 97 with 0 use at all ( I kill all apps and wifi and only check the time every other hour lol )
I didnt flash it or install a custom ROM, using ADW launcher now,but this happened before I tried a new launcher. I have used battery stats app thingie, it said facebook drained the battery, uninstalled it, same thing. Only thing I can think of is my apps parafernalha ( Nearly 9 GB occupied of the 11 available lol )
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

No, seriously now. I care about standby consumption because it takes away what could be some hours of useful usage when you're around, it only makes sense trying to improve it.
Turn off auto-sync, disable location services, low brightness, power saving mode, airplane mode when not using, delete apps you don't use, don't use messaging apps, etc.. And keep your screen off
I downloaded BBS and Ill leave it idle over night, see what it does
Hi everyone. Since a lot of us are using this ROM I thought it would be a good idea to compare battery life. Mine is quite bad right now and want to know if others are having better luck.
Can you please post
1. Gsam main screen
2. Gsam app usage
3. Android battery usage chart
Please use XDA attachments if you can so that the screenshots don't take up the whole page.
Here is mine, right now I struggle to get about 2.5 Hour SOT and phone barely lasts all day when it heats up it drops 20% sometimes in 15 mins of gaming
Mine was very bad before xposed modules. Now with amplify and greenify it last 4-5hrs with screen ON (watching videos, music or videogames) and the whole day if just use for chatting, some videos and mail.
Sorry, I don't use that app but will download it and post tomorrow my pictures.

No, default in amplify and some apps with constant updates like Facebook, Twitter, etc. In greenify.
You also need to consider screen brightness, I set mine near to 40%
I don't think I have a good battery life but a "normal" one... I feel good because without this xposed modules my phone battery was drained in 2hrs of SOT.

Good stats but you only have 6 hours of IDLE. I can easily get 4 hour SOT with 6 hours IDLE also. I am talking full day use. This phone battery is terrible in my opinion! This reviewer seems to have similar findings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amdaWd7oMCc
Agree, I tried several ROM's with various settings. This phone’s battery is a disappointment.
When using any Radio, especially 4G, draining is being substantially accelerated.
How do you get to 4 hours SOT?
My best effort so far with CM12.1. Still can't cross 3 hour SOT. Good idle time though, lasted for 24+ hours but turned WIFI off at night when I was sleeping.
My battery life isn't getting much better.
Hey peeps!
Got my new G6 two days ago and BOY is it a beautiful phone!
One thing though that I didn't expect to have issues with; the battery life is horrible.
First day I got just under 3 hours of screen-on-time.
Charged it and left it over night. Was at 94% when I went to bed and 51% when I woke up 8 hours later.
Can't be normal? I've tried resetting the phone, but I don't think it worked.
Left home at 9:55 and the battery was at 37%. Arrived at work at 10:33 and it was down to 31% and I had barely touched it during that time.
I'm new to Android so I'm not sure what to do next?
Help! :c
There's an issue with the phone sometimes draining for no apparent reason when it's sleeping. It's happening to a lot of people. Most likely it's a bug in Android 7.0 and will be fixed in the next Android update. For now I put my phone in Airplane Mode when I go to sleep. It fixes the problem and my phone only drains 1-2% overnight.
Let it settle for a while, at least for a week. You could try with a factory reset if you want, I didn't.
Now I have at least 4h SoT under wifi. I'm currently at 42%, after 19 hours from the last charge, and 3h45m of SoT.
Please bear in mind that 4G, traveling and low reception are generally speaking the main battery killers, and there is nothing you can do about that.
For those who complain about battery life of G6, Here is a short view
9am-5pm continuous voice recording with 1 hour break in between
Around 10-15 camera clicks
Browsing use BRAVE browser, disable chrome for better life. Use BRAVE browser which is based on same chrome platform but more efficient.- 2hours
Facebook app used 40min around
Twitter sometime
WhatsApp for around 2hours
Screen brightness between 35~50%
Two sim cards, one on 4g LTE
Screen on time 6hours 10minutes
Remaining battery-20%
There is something wrong with your battery. It should last about 5h SOT. Drain after the night should be about 2% with AOD disabled.
Something is draining your battery. Begin with turning off location services if it's enabled and see if that helps. I get minimum 5 hours screen on time and closer to 6-8 for the most part even when on mobile data a lot.
I've got the same problem. I'm rooted, have all sorts of bloatware disabled, running servicely and naptime. I've shut off my bluetooth and my location and I'm on Wifi. In the last 3 hours since I've unplugged my phone from the charger I'm sitting at 66% battery with 1 hour of screen time, 1.5 hours deep sleep, and 30 minutes awake. So I'm looking to get a little over two hours of screen on time. I can't think of anything else to do.
Look into disabling QuickMemo bull****.

I think there is not a battery problem
For me, It is surely a software bug.
I use AOD for all the day, 3 email account, WiFi and 4G on, many apps in background like facebook, messenger, whatsapp, telegram and other and I get 5.5hrs with 7% battery.
But only if I use the phone more than usual. Otherwise I got 3.5 hrs with the same configuration due to a big draining issue of the "idle phone" process.
Probably we have to wait the next big update hoping that it fixes everything.
I have oneplus 3t and lg g6 and htc u11 LG's battery is the best out of the three devices
I updated the phone with LG Bridge (there was no OTA updates available) and for some reason got a completely new firmware.
Not really an update but it installed a, what seems like, a firmware meant for the Chinese market. Had the Korean on before.
This *seems* to have fixed it.

The LG Bridge update didn't actually fix it. The problem was back after a while.
Downloaded GSam and realised that the Google Quicksearch Box was stuck in wakelock or whatever it's called so I disabled the Google App in settings and that did indeed fix the whole problem. My phone has been sitting at 98% for almost 3 hours now (haven't touched it obviously).

I've fiddled around with it a bit today, but the version installed from the Play store is still not working for me. Horrible battery drain.
I found a newer (beta) version on apkmirror that I installed and that seems to have fixed it. I've got the quick searchbox enabled and no battery drain so far. It's only been a few hours though but I don't think it's gonna flare up again. It should've by now if the problem was still there.

I've had a couple of force closes from the Google app and random battery drain at times that I couldn't pinpoint. Overall I've actually loved the battery life on the phone when the phone isn't reporting an idle drain. I appreciate the beta link, hopefully that fixes the problem I've had. :good:
Hello all ,
I was about to buy an Exynos model and read somewhere on here that there was an update to fix battery life. Is this true and how much has it improved ?
Thanks
Personally I see much better battery life after the April security update. SOT gets about 6 hours of normal use.
i still haven't received the latest update, but my battery life is great
i get 8hrs of SOT
ARD 4 is latest firmware ?
From wich country ?

5-6h SOT with 2 days of usage between each charge. But depends heaviliy on your usage.

I'd like to know if you guys are using Facebook and Messenger apps. Tried it on a brand new unit without logging it in and the standby drain is less than 0.5% an hour. Installed those two because I actually need the Messenger (can't seem to greenify Facebook) and my standby drain is like 2% per hour.

Recharging the G965F(exynos dual sim) every evening at 7,8 PM after unplugging in the morning at 6,7 AM.
AOD , gallery syncing, nearby device scanning, cloud based services, find my mobile service, NFC off. Wifi power saving on, 5 Sammy blaotwares disabled , no game playing , most appkications are in sleeping mode, no battery hogging app and I'm just a light to moderate user with 90 % wifi connection.
4 to 5 hours sot and 13,14 or maximum 15 hours it lasts. Experienced other top of the line phones with better battery life.

With Messenger you mean the Facebook Messenger? Well no facebook, no friends at facebook to chat with .
I just dont like this company at all. The idea behind it is really cool, keeping people connected. But what they do with your data isnt. Not a tiny bit.
And if the trend goes on, WhatsApp will also be uninstalled someday. But this would be hard, since nearly no one uses an alternative messenger.
Whatsapp does the job for me and its much easier on the battery.
But back to the topic: Have you tried this Lite app?
Should be less stressfull for your battery.

Sounds a lot like my usage, also the settings you have done. Did you also disable 4G active while on Wifi? Its hidden in the developer settings.
Otherwise im currently ~32,5h off the charger with 42% left. My screen usage is at 2h 22min, so maybe 4,5h overall in this run. But its not too bad cause of the overall runtime, as standby also drains the battery.
If im pushing the battery more without trying to achieve 2 days i have no problem getting to 6h of SOT.

That sounds very similar to another poster here who is also having issues with dual sim battery drain. He also made the same comment about having better battery life with other "top of the line" phones. Interestingly, I thought you posted a screenshot of 8+ hours SOT with the exynos recently (and 15+ hours SOT with the snapdragon). So I suppose those figures weren't a good reflection of your "average" SOT? As now you're mentioning only half that SOT, despite quite a few tweaks too.
Question - it sounds like you have around 9-10 hours where you're not actively using the phone during a typical discharge cycle. Do you have a sense of what your hourly standby drain is (I asked the same question of the other person having issues and I think he mentioned about 1% or less drain per hour)? A good way of observing it is leaving the phone uncharged overnight. I'm just curious as to whether your relatively poor battery life is mainly due to excessive standby drain or excessive drain despite only doing light-moderate tasks. I ask this because, in my experience (and also with people like Galaxo60) and demonstrated in numerous battery drain video tests, heavy use (eg. GPS navigation with high accuracy) tends to drain the battery by around 10-15% per hour and very heavy use (complex games, video calling) tends to drain the battery by 15-20% per hour.
Assuming a standby drain of 1% per hour (which is on the high side with AOD disabled and a good wifi connection), you can see that even if you played a complex game for 2 hours (40%), then an hour later (1%) you did a video call for an hour (20%), then an hour later (1%) you spent 2 hours navigating Maps with GPS on high accuracy (30%), and then you went to sleep for 6 hours (6%), your battery would be down to about 2% over a total of 13 hours on battery with 5 hours SOT. I'm probably giving the high side of the estimated battery drain in each task too. And this should be without any significant tweaking (based on my experience, and unless those video tests forget to mention tweaking etc). It sounds like you don't do any of these heavy or very heavy tasks, and therefore your SOT should be more like 6-7 hours over 20 hours or so (just a rough guess to make the point).
So assuming your hourly standby drain is also around 1%, then the only thing I can think of is an app that you're using or a task that you're doing (or some specific combination of apps/tasks that exynos doesn't like?) that is draining the battery more than it should. Or throwing in a wild speculation, somehow there's a built-in kernel backdoor that activates while your screen is on and is secretly doing something that drains your battery more hehe (and of course doesn't show up in any battery stats).
I know the occasional poster has also mentioned having only 1-3 hours SOT, so you're not having the worst reported SOT I suppose. It would be interesting to know what the hourly standby drain for those people etc is too.
Waw

Where have you seen me posting 8+ hours with the exynos? It was of 6 hours and 50 minutes in the "screen on time" thread achieved when additional battery saving steps like bk package disabler disabling huge chunk of services and apps and keeping location in power saving mode. (bk no more working as it's removed from playstore and I went for factory reset after BRE5 update)
4 to 5 is the average sot with 13, 14 hours with few battery saving steps. No wakelocks no battery hogging applications.
Hi all,
So I've got a rooted v30 and the battery life is not great, getting about 5 hours screen on time from 100 to 0. I've tried using wakelock but cannot get it to work, keep getting the 'this operation cannot be done' at this time message even after leaving it on for a few days or so. What alternative apps should I use to find out what's causing the drain?
Should say I don't use auto brightness, generally have 0 screen brightness really.
I also get 10% knocked off overnight whilst not using the phone, what prompted me to root the phone was losing 25% over one night once, thankfully that has stopped.
it might be the sim card to blame. i am also having bad battery as long as i am not at home on my wifi, about 5 hours IF i'm lucky, while at home i can even get to 8 damn hours, even while playing games. try using bbs or gsam, and maybe, if you do not urgently need your phone, try supervising it with data on for an hour and then on airplane mode for one hour, and see if there's a difference.
Is this some kind of prank? 5h is bad result? If you have more than 5h means that you not using the phone. Always 3G on, Facebook, messenger, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, chrome. With using everything I'am getting max 4h SOT and about 18-20h out of charger. Where is the magic trick to make a 6-7h SOT??

Sorry, but 14 hours seems impossible. How did you manage to get this? Could you elaborate what apps do you used and how many hours in that 14h SOT?

Would it be safe to say 4-5hr is general SOT?

I get 9+ hours of SOT per charge, and I can get 14+ and have in the recent past, even hit 17.5 hours of SOT at one point (watching some movies). It's not an impossible thing, seriously, but every phone is different and so is every user and how they use their devices.
And... I never use Battery Saver either, go figure.
Here's my 14.75...
My battery life might be worst than the OP
Something going on with Chrome for both of you that are having such horrible drain according to those screenshots. I'd personally say remove Chrome - uninstall it if possible or at least roll it back to the original default version, then clear out the cache on the device/reboot it afterward and then perhaps re-install it to the latest available version. If that doesn't help I'd suspect perhaps the battery itself has seen better days - the V30 has been out for 2+ years now so if you've got one that came from an original production run long ago you might end up having to replace the battery whether you want to or not.
But there is definitely something going on there with respect to Chrome and it's not good. I've been 2-4 hours at a time with Chrome running on my V30 while I looked at Reddit/Tumblr/etc sites, constantly with the display on at 50% brightness where I always have it at home and Flipboard uses way more power on mine than Chrome ever has.

I also get 10h+ with my V50 and moderate usage (30% on lte, 70% on wifi, 1 h calls, and some sms, 30 min video recording and photos, 5-6h YouTube vanced and 3-4 h opera browser. The brightness is auto, let's say 20% of this over 90% and the rest of 80% indoors, with, maybe, 10% and AOD off)
But I have 4000mah battery, better processor - 7nm, and so on. But 17h SOT it seems impossible. Maybe somehow your rooted rom calculates also AOD feature.... ?

I don't use AOD, it's kinda pointless to me overall - and I'm someone that used to use that feature on a Motorola Moto X which was the first phone to ever have that feature but Motorola is still the only one that really did it right IMO.
I don't use auto-brightness; that's just another thing that can sap up some power for no really good purpose. I leave my V30 at 50% brightness unless I go outside where I typically use 75-90% and never more, I never use 100% brightness and nobody ever really should on any OLED tech displays but that's just a personal preference I suppose. When watching videos I set the brightness to 75% - that 17.5 hour run I had was when I spent time in a hospital where my Wife was undergoing surgery and I had nothing better to do so I watched a lot of videos most of the day into the night, probably 12+ hours of movies/TV shows, etc. The AC plug on the wall in her hospital room was too far away (I just had a 3 foot USB cable with me) so I just let the damned phone run down save for a ~20 minute period (slow charging) where I plugged in with an external battery pack so did influence the run time just a bit (probably added 2 hours overall).
And again, I never use Battery Saver. I don't need it so I never bother enabling it even when the V30 tells me the battery is down low and I should.
Wi-Fi pretty much always unless I'm out and about in town for something which is when I use the T-Mobile service I have, 50% brightness always except in some situations, nothing really running in the background, I don't do social media crap like Facebook or Whatsapp, Twitter, etc. Don't use Bluetooth for much of anything - I do have a Bluetooth speaker at home but most of the time I'm using my laptop at home so I have my headphones on.
Dark themes on as many apps as possible and I'm using the Dark G7 theme from the Play Market that many of us use. I also have no intentions of using Android 9 Pie either, Oreo is damned near perfect on my V30 and I'm not even interested in ruining how well everything works right now.

what version of oreo are you at? im getting some worse battery on pie with my V300L (korean)so i was thinking of going back to oreo since the only positive thing on pie was that manual rotation control. best i could reach on pie was 7 hrs and then i could never do it again even with light usage.
Uhmmm... Oreo is Android 8, and the last update for mine was the 20h build (since it's a converted H931 to a US998).

Apparently the developer of that theme - which was free - has now changed it and it might not work on the V30 with Oreo as it did (and does) for me and they're charging for it too:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.g7.dark
There might be another one, I don't know, guess I'll have to back up the APK I have for the older version since it can't be downloaded from the Play Store any longer. This one might work (same developer) but again they're charging for it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.g7.outray

Lol I agree. I used to get around 5h SOT on earlier builds of Havoc, which is honestly the best I could ever get, but now I get average 3h SOT on Havoc. I can't even comprehend how people could get even more than that.
Like, no offense to anyone who is getting way more than 5h, but that is just impossible without sacrificing core apps such as Google, Chrome, or play services.
But then again, maybe every V30 was made different. Some people are probably lucky and have maintained a perfectly healthy battery (while mines is already down to 89%).
