Hi!
I've been using the phone for about 2 months and noticed that it never updated to the latest official firmware (.167). Instead, it only updated to .99
I've tried both verifying update from the phone and checking for updates from the Sony Companion tool, but they both say I have the latest version.
Any ideas?
Is your boot loader unlocked? That's probably why you didn't get the latest update. Use the Xperia Flashtool and XperiaFirm to get the latest update
I never unlocked it, so I understand it shouldn't be. (never made any attempts to flash it or root it so far, because i was afraid i'd have to undergo a lot of trouble to undo the changes to update to official Marshmallow when it rolls out)
That's weird but you can still install the new update through the Xperia Flashtool and you should be fine
If you're in the US, that's the latest. We are at least 2 updates behind.

I'm in Argentina, but I actually brought it from the US (unlocked). So maybe that's the reason.
Where you able to update via PC companion? Or do you had to use flash tool? I was wondering because i am having the same issue. E2306 bought in the US but currently in south america.
Sorry for the late reply. I was never able to update it. Haven't tried flashing yet. I might as well just wait for a 6.0 OTA or stable rom to make it worth the hassle (and risk) of flashing.
UPDATE: installed .111 with flashtool.
After a terrifying half hour thinking I might have bricked my phone, it finally booted.
I'll upload Now antutu benchmarks before and after to see if there's a difference in performance.
UPDATE2:
According to Antutu, performance went from 28967 to 28714 (it may be that results are variable). In any case at best, you get the same perfomance according to it.

Got root/unlocked bootloader?
is it safe for rooted/unlocked bootloader device?
i got this update a few weeks ago, would it have anything to do with my phone being generic and not tied to single network

No I don't recommend updating your device if your bootloader is unlocked. I did it with my phone and my phone ended in a semi brick
ne1 feel like posting the build number etc.... no update for my generic unbranded play here.

thats becuase your firmware is 2.3.2 not 2.3.3
you got the point update weve had since release.
gingerbrick does not work on 2.3.3 fact!
ok i see but it's not a problem for me i used root only to move apps. now that i know adb command ... the other stuff i don't need them seriously.
I do prefer getting update than having root that i use once a year
Updating the phone now. Hope it has the one-handed feature!
I would like a working FTF of this, I guess I should reconsider my rooting attempt and try the steps on the .475 rather than .471. Since my bootloader is unlocked, I have to use FlashTool for all updates until we have custom ROMs out.

Me also just update to latest 14.1.B.0.475 firmware, not sure what had been updates but obvious feel it run much smoother than before.
Possible only minor fine tunes / bugs fixed. Still running older UI.

I only have slightly when in 1st initiate firmware.
It is completely gone for me when update to .471 which means no issue for me in .475
.475 seems to have better battery life. Waiting to complete my 1st full run.

HI,
I am already on rooted 14.2.A.1.136 but i keep on getting this notification about a new update 14.2.A.1.136 of size 50.4 MB. I tried downloading it numerous time when it reaches 100% i get an error couldn't be downloaded. Its been going on and on since the past 3 days.
Have you guys faced this issue ? Is it a minor update ?
I have already unrooted, locked and installed the stock kernel still the issue persists.

Same here. But I didn't install it. Maybe i'll just wait for the ftf or something.
Try Clearing the cache and data of the update center... see if that helps...

A few of us have had the 11mb update (location/ region settings)
and I've heard about a few having the 50mb (or about that) update. I'm not sure what that was about. Perhaps another region update as only a few people are getting it.

I just started getting notifications for the 50mb update also... I'm on a 6806, BL unlocked, rooted on stock. Weird... I've just been ignoring it.
Anyone from Brazil got the KitKat update for our C6843 yet? I've checked a few days ago, from the last version (14.2.A.1.136), with locked bootloader and unrooted, and nothing. Now I don't want to reflash my phone again just to check. If it's already available, I'll create an FTF for you. Thanks.
I've been checking daily through OTA and the PC Companion and still not a sign.
update
I contact Sony and they said that its coming, should take a little more days.
Anyway because of ex sd card limitations i maybe give up and dont install it.

Thanks, and I agree with you, this firmware has some issues, maybe in the next release Sony will make it right. In the meantime we can use monx (if you like stock and don't mind losing digital TV), which has some nice added features and remove this external SD card limitation, or a CM11-based firmware. I'm personally using Carbon Rom and I'm loving it.
14.3.A.0.757?
Fala galera... Anybody got the newest 14.3.A.0.757 update for the C6843? Last time I checked, a couple of days ago, not even the first KK release (14.3.A.0.681) was available, and I'm getting tired of flashing stock + relocking bootloader just to check if Sony cares about us Brazilian users (so far it seems they don't give a sh*t).
If the update is available let me know, and I'll create an FTF here.
It is finally out! I'm downloading the 757 update through OTA right now.
It took some time, but at least we're going straight to the latest version!

Is it just me or is the 4.4.4 Update still not available for USA Z2 Tablets? I got the update on my Z2 phone a while back but no go on the tablet. I have the SGP512 Firmware and I get the fated "Your device already has the latest available system updates" when I try the Update Center.
I have also tried connecting my tablet to a PC but still no luck. I thought these updates came out a month ago? Anyone else experiencing this or am I missing something? I have seen a few dated threads on this subject but no conclusive update as to whether this update has finally been rolled out for the US Z2 tablets.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No One?
So everyone has 4.4.4 ?
I still havent seen it. Bought the tablet for the remote play feature and over a month with no word. No response when I ask Sony. I love the company but very disappointed in them now.
You can check your region/carrier with XperiFirm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
Looks like North America is still on 17.1.2.A.0.314...
If there is no update for your device on specific region and you want to update to latest firmware you can just use other region ftf-file for your device and flash it via Flashtool. Differences are more or less in bloatware that come with firmware. Also it´s reported that because only difference between SGP511 and SGP512 is memory size also SGP511 firmwares work fine with SGP512 device.
Ah thanks..

I had an update for my SGP512 to 23.0.1.A.4.30 this morning, here living in DE
By th way you can force download an update image using Flashtool. A simple guide is available here:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/01/flashtool-version-0-9-18-1-allows-you-to-download-xperia-firmware-files/
I'm in Canada and I got the 23.0.1.a.4.30 notification last night. I'm updating through PC companion right now. I'm completely stock.
It seems I was not the only one to get it in North America: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57232943&postcount=80
I live in US and got notification that I had a download available on the 5th. I just upgraded via update on tablet this morning with no issues. Also, I was rooted but not unlocked and was able to keep root (SuperSU Survival Mode)
