The summary of what happened is as follows.
I have the HDX 7 and it auto updated to 13.3.2.3.2, so I modified the build.prop to spoof it as being 13.3.0.9
I had done this successfully before (OTA update was NOT stopped by hdxposed) so I was feeling super confident
Here's where I made my mistake though
I forgot to reset my permissions
So, once I rebooted, it obviously didn't work.
In a panic, I tried to factory reset. I should have guessed it wouldn't touch /system .
Now, I personally can't think of any way I could possibly fix this device, but maybe someone here has some wizard magic I could use, I've honestly all but given up hope.
I can still see the low battery icon if it's low and I try to boot it, and I can still get into Amazon's extremely limited bootloader (your kindle could not boot, reboot, factory reset) but other than that I don't think I can do much with it.
Please, if anyone has any suggestions... ;-;
Pretty sure there's not a fix based on all the other threads where people have done the same thing.
Reboot into fastboot and try to flash amazon's stock firmware.

If I can actually boot into fastboot and have it work properly, I would be able to flash a .bin to it? I'm sorry for being so ignorant about the subject.
You may be able to flash a .bin if you can get into fastboot mode, but from what I understand, there is no hardware button combo that will get you into fastboot mode unless you have an unlocked bootloader. If you have any sort of adb when it tries to boot, then adb reboot-bootloader may put you in the right place, but if not, then I'm not sure there is much to be done.
I would check out this thread to get some more info on the state of fastboot.

Hi! You can use the Wugfresh's nexus 7 tool, it will let you go into fastboot but as far as I know you cant flash .bin may be I'm wrong but you can try...

Does this actually do anything special or is it just an adb/fastboot GUI? Because I'm currently in Linux and installing windows is a /huge/ pain and I'm sure messing with it in WINE would just make things worse... Though if it does actually do something special I would be more than willing to do it for that.

Try this (if you haven't already):
1. Setup a Linux environment (Ubuntu 13.04 - is being used on the tutorial) - you can install it on a USB stick and then boot the PC from the USB without making any changes.
2. Install the Android SDK (that you can have adb and fastboot installed) - (follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302780 )
3. Boot the tablet while pressing all the HW buttons (VOL+ , VOL - , POWER Button) - I've read somewhere from @Hashcode that the original firmware has code to boot into fastboot while pressing all the buttons without the need of a "special" fastboot cable.
4. Check the fastboot commands and see if recognizes it.

Will definitely try tomorrow, only difference being I'll be in arch rather than ubuntu, though that shouldn't be a big enough difference to pose a problem. I'll keep you updated with how it goes. Thanks!

That it really matters if you get it to recognize it or not the device will not accept through fast boot unless it is unlocked from what I understand. What good is fastboot if we don't have any fastboot files in any public way at least anyway that I know. The fastboot commands will work from what I have read but you cannot flash any bin files or any system files. Until it is unlocked and Hashcode says once unlocked everything flashes fine .

I was forwarded tot this subforum, maybe someone could help me here?
I tried to root the tablet, and thought I had all the steps required to do so. I just rooted my OPO without problems and wanted to do the same with the Asus. As I've said, I thought I had all the steps but saw I missed some things and followed a mix of different tutorials on xda-developers.com. I had downloaded the ASUS v5.0.11 update and the 5.0.11 root. I could get into bootloader with Vol-Up + Power, it opened the android with helmet-bootloader without problems. I used the fastboot commands: - fastboot erase cache - fastboot erase system - fastboot flash update "updatename".zip
there it failed to flash the zip
Then I saw I had to use the fastboot 4.7.3 and not the 5.0.11 one. So I tried to flash that one I found somewhere. Then I installed recovery 4.7.3 and then I got a bricked asus
I have no idea in what order I did things, and I'm sure I did a lot more than I've described. But now I can't get into bootloader with Vol-Up + Power, and when I try to access the bootloader with adb reboot bootloader, I don't see the android with helmet anymore, but just the usb-icon with a red gauge. When I try to start the tablet, it hangs on the bootscreen 'Asus, in search of incredible'.
I want to get into bootloader again so I can play with fastboot-commands again, or if someone knows what to do by the things I've just tried to describe.
I would cry if only I could get into the OS again.
After upgrading to CM 12.1 everything was just fine. Got my tablet to charger and left it there for a while. And then i saw that i was looping.
It's trying to enter recovery (TWRM) "or something like" and restarting.
I' sitting on forum for 3 days already. trying to get some information and did lot's of things. Nothing helps.
Can anyone help me with this somehow? I'm almost crying and losing it (not really, but that what i feel inside)

don't think so. or better say i'm not sure about it. how can i check?

i can run adb and after command "adb devices" it shows serial number and status: recovery.
i can use the command adb reboot-bootloader which puts me in fastboot mode. but then i try adb devices and have nothing there.
also, any command like "fastboot...." gets me to "waiting for device" and nothing more.
I tried two different computers. all ports. all cables that i've found.

Well, first of all CM12.1 requires TWRP & an unlocked bootloader, if you don't have those, flashing CM12.1 was a bad idea.
So what happens during boot? Do you see the Safestrap logo and had to either wait 10 seconds or press continue to boot? Can you enter Safestrap there by pressing Recovery? Which Safestrap version is it (if any)?
The real TWRP can be accessed by pressing and holding Volume up, then pressing and holding Power, release both when the grey Kindle Fire logo appears on screen.
As having TWRP is a key requirement here, it's important to figure out what you really have (either Safestrap or TWRP).
And do NOT do a factory reset in amazon's stock recovery with Safestrap installed! Will brick the HDX!
As @Davey126 mentioned here you can check whether the bootloader ist unlocked by opening a fastboot prompt (i.e. DOS box, then change dir to your adb directory), then enter:
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme
You will only get a response if unlocked.
If you use Windows and get the waiting for device fastboot issue, try these drivers, could be a pain in the ass to install them in Win8(.1)/Win10 x64 though. And note that you probably need to (re-)install the original Amazon Drivers again to get the HDX noticed in Explorer in order to get files copied it.

Also verify you have a Kindle HDX ... not HD or generic Fire.
the fastboot command got me still only 1 message "waiting for device"
Tried to install drivers. While looping, in device manager, i can see "Fire devices: Android composite ADB Interface"
and "Portable devices: MTP USB Device"
If i enter fastboot mode, gets me to "Other devices: Unknown device" and i just cant figure out how to install the drivers. Tried to download some stuff. plugged, unplugged.
Edit:
After some work done with drivers, i input adb kill-server and adb devices and get "Serial Number Unauthorized"
So maybe i should change word "work" to "messing" with driver
what do i do from here... is there any live chat for it maybe? or i can call someone?

Still haven't answered Safestrap or native TWRP query (you should know). Do this:
- long press power until device shuts off
- restart device with power button (only)
- detail the 1st, 2nd and 3rd screens you see
If you do not have native TWRP (with unlocked bootloader) you likely borked your device with the installation of CM 12.1. Generally not repairable.

Ok, that should be the real TWRP, the Safestrap screen looks different.
This could mean you've TWRP installed, but the bootloader is locked. So I'd suggest to unlock the bootloader, you can't screw up anything, and can try this nice tool.

To check if your bootloader is unlocked (assumes you previously unlocked and still have the prerequisite software installed on host):
- power down device
- press vol-down + power; release both keys when "[fastboot]" prompt appears
- tether your device
- open a command prompt (assuming Windows)
- issue command: fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme ?
- you will only get a response if bootloader is unlocked
If the (Windows) host displays "<waiting for device>":
- press <ctrl>-c to break wait
- start device manager (different window)
- located device with explanation mark (likely under "portable devices")
- right click -> update driver software -> browse my computer... -> Let me pick...
- select driver from list (ideally one that contains the words 'fastboot'); might have to try a few
- reissue above command
Bit of a PiTA ... might be easier to simply try the one click unlock tool as there is no additional risk to your device. It will either work or not.
I guess i'll check it only next week. Leaving all this things for the weekend.

but at reboot, by entering the command "fastboot oem recovery 0x1949 -i 'my tablet again has a boot loop on teamwin.
i want to resolve very fast this problem because i need my tablet urgently:crying:
ps: I don't think that I can meet these problems because after having bought my tablet to a friend (the tablet possessed CyanogenMod 11 android 5.0.1 I think) I did a factory reset . it is from this manipulation on my tablet reboot teamwin.

I assume you have an unlocked bootloader and were running 'native' twrp (not Safestrap) when the problem occured. Unfortunately, there is no known 'quick fix' recovery from this failure scenario (boot looping on teamwin spash screen) as you have tried to reinstall twrp without success. Someone very talented with android might be able to unravel the problem. Best guess (and it is only a guess) is the recovery partition became damaged to such an extent it the contents can not be replaced without performing a low level format/reset of your device.
Some curiosities:
- Android 5.0.1 and CM11? (impossible combination)
- TWRP freedom? (not supported on HDX)
Are your certain your device is a HDX and not some other model?

You still haven't made it clear whether you have an HD or HDX model.
You're on the HDX forum, but you're talking about documentation on the CyanogenMod wiki for the HD 8.9.
The problem likely stems from the fact that you flashed a recovery for the wrong device.

I searched the web and I have definitely amazon kindle fire HD 8.9 because even his appearance differs from the HDX 8.9.
no I do not really think the problem comes from the data flash HD 8.9 (wikicyanogenmod) because I flashed the data after doing a factory reset without actually knowing that this would pose a problem with amazon tablets.
the tablet was working well but I was unable to connect to the wifi. I thought it would be nice to change rom and install a suitable and stable rom for my tablet, but my operation I was surprised because I had never heard of this kind of problems caused by an factory reset

- Sometimes it can be hard to get the progress bar past 4% before things fail. Just keep trying if this happens, it'll randomly work.
2. Tethered Recovery ("IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015.7z")
- Unpack the system image (from "system.zip") to a convenient directory
- With tablet still in Bootloader mode, open app, select CWM mode, then T4
- Phone will restart in CWM once everything loads
3. Flash system
- Go to the mounts / format area, format "/system" and then unmount it
- Insert Micro SD card and mount it
- Format "/external_sd"
- On computer, type "adb push <path-to-system.img> /external_sd/", wait for it to finish
- When finished, type "adb shell" to enter the device shell (make sure the prompt is "~ #" to make sure you are root (or type "whoami" at the prompt to confirm root)
- (If not root, restart to bootloader and trigger the tethered recovery again. You should be root this time.)
- Type in "dd if=/external_sd/system.img of=/dev/block/by-name/system" and wait for it to finish
- When finished, type "exit" on your computer to close the shell
- Reboot the device (to bootloader)
4. Flash boot
- Back on the computer, type in "fastboot devices" to confirm the tablet is connected
- Type "fastboot flash boot <path-to-boot.img" in order to flash the boot
5. Reboot
- On the device, tell it to boot normally

Any news? I'm stuck at 5.0.2. I wonder if it's possible to port cyanogenmod.
Hey there! Super helpful tutorial and most helpful so far that I found! However, my tablet just goes black after I press Normal Boot and just stays that way. Also when performing ADB Shell (Mac) for some reason it stays in the shell for few seconds and goes back. Any ideas why that might be happening? On top of that I can only enter the shell command really quickly so I have no idea when it finishes copying system.img across... Any help would be appreciated!

I tried and I can reply to myself: it restores a clean 5.0.2 image ...
EDIT: xposed framework work perfectly on 5.0.2 . I'm perfectly happy with it now

What if you can't boot into fastboot mode? When I try to boot into fastboot, the screen only shows a battery logo with a question mark inside. I saw that there's a fix for this problem on Intel processor devices like the Zenfone and Del Venue 8 3840 using xFSTK Downloader. But that requires dnx_PRQ.bin and droidboot.img.POS.bin, which I don't Dell ever released. Any solved this problem before?
Flash tool wont detect tablet
So i would love to try this out, im new to this whole thing and have the problem that the flashtool cant find my device

I'm unable to get further then 3%, at best. my tablet starts and shows USB icon, nothing more.
anybody has solved this ever ? has unbricked this model ? I have searched everywhere, not found any one person who solved this with usb ICON showing.

Intel Flashing
You need to use 'On Demand Flash" option from Intel Flash Tool. Start flashing from computer and continue on your device.
For Venue 7840
- Unplug
- Power off
- Press and hold both Volume keys
- Plug USB cable
- Release keys
It will start loading automatically
I've use Intel Flash Tool Lite 5.3.2

hello all
i spent last few hours looking for solution to how to flash Stock Rom to my YB1-X90F and i found steps here and there and finally i got it. so i gathered all the steps in one thread to help whoever want to flush back to stock or downgrade from newer version for any reason.
This will erase all user data.
1. do it on your own risk, I'm not responsible for any damage to your devise.
2. Unlco your bootloader here is the steps by earthCallingAngela ----->>> Here
3. if you having issue to connect your drive to your computer while on bootloader you can install Intel driver, its worked for me, ----> Here
4. now install Intel Phone Flash Tool, i think it will install drivers as well, download it from here
5. Download Yoga book YB1-X90F Stock Rom Uploaded by Flippy498 from here
6. open Intel Phone Flash Tool and boot your phone on bootloader by Vol Up + Power, you should see the tool detect your Tablet.
7. on intel tool click on brows and located the Rom, wait for the tool to unzip it,
8. do not change anything just click on Flush and wait for it, on the middle of the process the tablet will ask you if its ok to wipe user data choose yes
after that the tablet will reboot and finish the installations and power off itself, power it on and wait for it, its will take long time for first boot so do not power it off.
Halo keyboard will not work until you do these steps By vimalbhimani on here
a) Open ‘’contacts’’ app, create a new local contact ” test”
b) Click search button at contact
c) Input ####6020# code into search bar
d) a list of country codes will po up, browser the country code list, then chose country code US and click OK
e) Then device will reboot and update, you should be able to use halo Keyboard after that.
note: i have issue with TouchPl keep stopping, had to chose google instead of Lenovo to get it to work without error
if you want to update the system to latest version (7.0.1) you can just go to update and update it.

Follow steps 1. to 3. and 5. of the opening post.
Unzip the stock rom (archive) into your ADB/Fastboot folder.
Boot the tablet to the bootloader (c.f. step 6. of the opening post).
Use the following commands:

fastboot erase frp
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot format config
fastboot format country
fastboot format cache
fastboot format data
fastboot format factory

fastboot flash country country.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader
fastboot flash oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt

I would like to downgrade 2 Tablets YB1-X90L (not F), this thread is onderful BUT I cannot find the STOCK ROM version for the L-Model (the one with LTE) ... can someone point me out as where to get it ? The background is that Nougat screwes up the playstore ... as discussed in many other threads and there is no -permanent- solution... Thank you!

found myself in the same boat and eventually came across this:

note that the steps are slightly different in that you have to manually select the .json in the extracted folder.
Could someone please help me with downgrading my YB1-X90L, it just refuses to boot at all after my nephews messed with it, I found the stock rom but I can't get some of the needed programs and drivers,

Hello
I made this all and my Yoga-Book runs on Android 6.0.1 . But is there a possibility to get an Android Build 7.1.1? Because I can't restore my Backup it seams it is corrupt and if I try to update im configuration-app its does anything but at the end its allways on 6.0.1.
It would be great if someone can helb me.

sorry for replying to such an old post.
could you or anyone else please reupload a 6.x stock rom for the yb1 x90L? i just cant find any working link and am currently stuck with a device without properly working wlan. wlan keeps turning itself off after a few seconds after reboot and only restarting the whole device can turn it back on again... i hope a rollback can solve the issue...

looks like the original link is down, so i searched for the file name YB1-X90L_USR_S110085_1710170829_WW08_EP_ROW_otafull.zip and this came up:

So my Android YB1-X90F was locking up when trying to boot, just stuck showing the Lenovo logo. Thinking I'm clever I stubbled across the boot menu if you start the device with the Volume Up held. From there I tried the Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset. Then the tablet started up and shows the Green Andriod Bin Man, saysi Encrypting and promptly reboots. So one starts Googling and ends up here. Some very help information, thanks for that.
So I've got as far as installing all the drivers/Intel Phone tool/Android Suite etc. but I'm still stuck. The flash is locked. Is there another way to unlock this as I can't get into Android to allow the developer options as suggested in Step 2 of the opening post?

I'm in the same boat. I acquired a YB1-X90F but all it does is show the orange Lenovo splash screen, then a black screen.
So here I am reading threads. But I'm already at my first hurdle...since I can't boot into the OS and go into Developer Options to start the boot loader unlock process.

Just waiting for the battery to charge to 30% to hopefully enable the Halo Keyboard.
