My emails and hangouts messages are not being received while I'm outside my house on 4G. As soon as I get home and my phone connects to my wifi, I get all my messages (email, hangouts, etc.) all at once.
This happened to me on PagePlus too.
I made sure Stamina was disabled and that Auto-Sync is enabled.
In Data Usage is mobile data on? Is it limited?

It's on, it's not limited and "Restrict background data" is unchecked.
I do not have any problem using the internet for browsing.

Sorry been looking on how to do it for forever, but can't seem to find it. I om on the tethering plan and already used up my 4 gigs of data so I am close to over using my internet data. How do I turn off the internet, without turning off the actual phone service (like texting and calling).
Thanks!!!!

Using cell data (not wifi, because it works fine with wifi), I cant refresh in my gmail app to check for new emails. I leave background data off. This was never an issue with any other device.
Any suggestions?
If I turn background data on, it works just fine, but I prefer to leave it off.
Without background data checked on, I don't believe you can. You could go to the gmail mobile site, but meh...

Why would this new version of gmail act this way but gmail for Gingerbread allowed that function?
Weird!
How'd it work with it off? Do you remember the steps?

No sure what you mean? With account synch off and only 3g, there is always the refresh button for the gmail app...
Never mind, yeah weird

Hello all,
I have a question. Do any of you awesome XDA Peeps know of an app that allows you to select what apps sync with wifi and what apps can use the data provided by cellphone company?
I have a whopping 200mb from AT&T and I keep my mobile data turned off. I use quick settings to turn it on or off. I would like to be able to receive and send emails from my phone, but I don't want my phone to keep syncing or searching for updates, like facebook or weather. The problem I have when I turn my mobile data off is, if someone is sending me a text with a picture, I have to turn my mobile data on or else I wont be able to see the picture because my phone won't automatically download it.
Or is this something that has to be done per app?
I thank you in advanced!

Whenever I toggle mobile data on/off the phone freezes but the power button will still toggle the screen on and off but the device will not respond until it eventually reboots. This happens when I turn wifi off, but not on, or when airplane mode is toggled. I have tried from settings and the status bar.
I'm running Stock, rooted, deodexed from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044351 along with the APN editor flash (method 1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044449 with Setup Wizard frozen. I also have extsd2internalsd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036796 installed to utilize my 64gb sd card.
I tried to get a logcat using adb logcat *:W *:S but it was empty.
Anybody know what's going on before I wipe and try again?
Thanks
As weird as this sounds it appears to have been FB Messenger. Clean installs worked so I reinstalled one by one and this was the only app to cause the device to hot boot when toggling wifi or mobile data.

Nevermind, FB Messenger wasn't the culprit.
It turns out it was the AT&T VM Viewer app (for U-Verse VM). No problems if it's just installed but if you are logged in then whenever the apps loses connectivity (toggling wifi, mobile data, airplane mode, etc) the phone hot boots. This just reminded me the app would FC on my old Incredible 2 when the connection state changed.
I use Yahoo mail and it's configured on the stock mail app. Sometimes I get a notification that says the email has failed to send.
I try to resend it but it doesn't work.
The solutions:
1- Turn on WiFi.
2- Turn Airplane Mode on and off. By doing this it seems that I "wake up" T-Mobile data conection.
I had problems with Yahoo Mail in the past where I could not log in when using T-Mobile's data but it worked fine when using Wifi.
Using Yahoo Mail app worked flawlessly on both Wifi or carrier's data.
I am wondering if it's an Yahoo thing or it's the mail app or T-Mobile.
Is anyone having the same problem ?

It's a data problem. LOTS of us are having it.
We're losing data connection so emails, texts, internet connection, etc. are all affected, unfortunately. Have you upgraded to NE6? Supposedly that helps some people but it hasn't helped me.

No. Since I bought the phone there wasn't any update available and when I run software update it says my phone is updated.
Connect to Kies3 using your PC and you'll get the newest update, UVU1ANE6
I had this issue, it has to do with the POP settings. Don't do this, but this is what happened.
I couldn't send emails, I removed my email account and attempted to add it again, failed horribly. Wouldn't let me, kept saying unsafe connection. So I entered in the POP3 settings manually, and suddenly all my folders created disappeared, leaving me with just inbox and sent. It mixed all my spam in with my real mail, which was a horrible experience.
Then I changed the settings to IMAP. Fixed it and works perfectly now.
