GS3 help? (BOOTLOCKED?) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have a gs3 and i rooted it
i was trying to run a different os on it and i guess i forgot to unlock it? (verizon)
someone told me something about softlocked but i dont know what to do. Any help? really dont think verizon will be any help

Umm. There is a specific ROM built to work with locked Verizon-only S3s and those kinds of phones also have their own xda forum here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-verizon
So yeah. Look before you ask
For your problem, just flash one of roms in the forum I told you about.

Why odin and not ClokcworkMod?

Hey guys,what's up?Hope y'all enjoying the phone(You sure are )!
I have some questions though as all my smartphones until now have been HTC and, wanting to buy a Samsung,I have noticed some differences regarding development/modding,for which questions aren't clearly answered.
First and foremost is,why with Sammy's phones we have to use Odin?ClockworkMod on HTC devices is excellent and very easy to use. What's the reason to use Odin?Samsung packaging their roms differently or something or a security thing?
Second is,why do I keep seeing many bricked Samsung phones?I have read about many people who,as they say themselves, were foolish enough to brick it.Is it that easy? With HTC's phones it's only possible when messing with bootloader if something goes horribly wrong,or when someone is foolish enough to pull the battery when updating baseband(or radio, call it whatever you want).
If someone can answer or point me to somewhere where I can find satisfactory answers I would appreciate it!Thanks!
Regards,
Apostolis
PS:Sorry for my English. Not that there's anything wrong with it in general, but I tend to speak in a very weird and complicated way when I am tired. And now,I am really tired!
NO CLOCKWORK for SGS 2 yet .
Donate SGS2 to developer .
jje
Where did you read sgs2 were getting bricked? The term was used to loosely with the orginal galaxy s phones. The original sgs was 99.9% unbrickable and I wouldnt doubt the sgs2 is the same.
Clockwork will come with time. Odin is just samsung way of upgrading there handsets. Once real custom roms come youll probably see clockwork.
Most of the so called bricks were pure user error.

Well,I'd say all bricks are pure user error!
I can't give you exact time and post, but there were some reports. Not that the amount of people reporting this was anything shocking, but anyway. One particular guy wanted to unbrick his Vibrant with JTAG.Maybe Galaxy S variants are more "vulnerable"?
Also, about CWM I didn't know.I thought that Odin was still being used on the original Galaxy S.I only followed the GS forums at the beggining.
Odin is just a great tool to update firmware or get you out of bad situations. Theres mixed reviews about odin but its something you need to get familiar with if your hacking with any galaxy s line. Most bricks that wasnt recoverable needed jtag but that was when someone flashed something they shouldnt have. If you want to start with stock firmware you want to use odin. Alot of people like clearing out the ghost files left with custom roms. So they start fresh with odin original firmware before flashing new roms. You dont have to but you can usually avoid some bugs with a fresh firmware. Im not an expert at this but hopefully helps out some.

SGS2 LTE newb rooting/ics guide?

Hi there, I recently got a SGS2 LTE (basically same thing as the skyrocket). I want to know how to root and install the latest version of ICS if possible. I've read a bunch of guides but I think the kernels mentioned in those guides are outdated and there are so many files I don't know which one to use. Pretty confusing if someone can help.
This is the wrong section, for your phone you want to be here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1399
I haven't heard of any ICS leaks for that phone so you are out of luck.
Don't use any roms from this section they will not work.
Dang sorry. Any idea if ICS will be coming to this phone by samsung or something?
Probably not. You're still in the wrong forum btw.

[Q] I NEED HELP Root Galaxy SIII

Hi guys my dad just bought me a phone and I've been researching and it appears to be a fake. It's model number is is still gt i9300. I saw a previous thread and someone had the exact same one and only he was able to root and get it to the actual stock rom of the real gs3. There must be a way to do this but I need someone to give me a link to a specific tutorial to do this. Someone please reply and and tell me what I can do. I'm still a noon at this stuff so try to explain everything in depth.. Thanks!
Wrong section dude. As you say its a fake, i don't know if even on the Q&A section you will get an answer, but try posting there.

If the hardware is different then your more liable to brick your device, i'm afraid youre going to get very little help if thats the case.
Also, this is the development section, you don't ask questions in it.

T-Mobile ROM for Verizon S5?

I figured I would visit you here in the T-Mobile S5 forum since you guys would definitely know more about this particular issue than I do. Like the title states, I'm wondering if you know of anyone in your forum flashing a T-Mobile ROM to a Verizon SM-G900V, and if so which would be a good choice of ROM to do it? And which route should I take as for flashing firmware with Odin, or if any of the Verizon firmwares are compatible with your ROM's, and I wouldn't need to flash a T-Mobile firmware at all. I looked and I can't seem to find where anyone has posted about this. Theoretically it should be able to work with the right combination. I'm definitely not new at doing this stuff but this is a whole new ball game for me. I wouldn't know where to begin at flashing a T-Mobile ROM to this phone, being that I have to work within the parameters of the stupid locked bootloader. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
Edit: I just realized I posted this in the wrong area I think. I meant to post it in the Q&A forum. Sorry about that. I guess I am too tired to do this right now and should've waited until the morning. Lol

Thank you. Again, I'm sorry about that. It wasn't until I went back looking for my post, that I realized I posted this in the wrong forum.
