Hi,
My (well, not mine, my sister's) Honor 7 is stuck on the TWRP recovery since I downloaded the OTA update (not sure which one) (yup, I know, bad idea).
It seems that the bootloader is not accessible. The TWRP is in chinese, and it doesn't show any "bootloader" option, only a "download" one. I have to swipe to activate it.
So, for the moment, I have performed a full wipe (except for data and microsd), but the phone doesn't boot better. Only got access to the TWRP recovery. And not sure how I can fix this...
Could you please give me some help ?
Thanks a lot.

same here. cannot even enter fastboot or erecovery mode
Isnt it a option to download the last full Update file from Honor, extracting the system.img. Boot.img and recovery.img from it using the updateextractor app and flashing it with twrp?
As i remember, there is an Option to access the micro-sd via usb to transfer the files while in twrp..
Okay, flashing the recovery would be my last step, if flashing system and Boot will fix the loop.
Well, I thought about it, but I'm not sure if it's possible and if it will not brick the phone :/ If someone can confirm that it's possible to flash the Boot.img with TWRP (and if possible with a link to a subject, or tutorial), I would do it

so i thought you'r already stuck in the twrp and can't boot....
Here is the changelog from TWTP with remarks how to flash IMG files
http://www.droidviews.com/now-flash-image-files-using-twrp-2-8-4-0/
Maybe that helps
I'm stuck on TWRP, yes. Even with TWRP i can't access bootloader... And I don't know why :/ So, I need to flash all img files from the update.app, and the recovery.img in last ? Hope it should do it...

I would leave the recovery unflashed till you can guaratee the the system will Boot. Seems that twrp is currently your only chance to change something. So dont cut the tree you are sitting on. Right?
But no guaranter, that these procedure will work. That would be my way of fixing these..
flashed recovery.img in TWRP reboot took me to update mode with 2 errors.
now it is stuck on honor logo and will not do anything, no vol up, down, recovery, fastboot, erecovery, nothing!
it'll just repeatedly reboot if vol up or down...
Did you tried to flash the Boot.img, system.img, etc, before recovery.img, and reboot before flashing recovery.img ?

seems, that you didn't read, what we've posted before:

yes, thats my fault. I only flased recovery.img
I can now get back into the 'Rescue Mode' using both vol + - and power. it shows:
Error!
Func NO: 11 (recovery image)
Error NO: 2 (load failed!)
I have full B121 update.app file in dload folder in micro SD card. That's as far as it goes
If you flash a recovery.img it really have to match to the currently installed system.img as we pointed out in another forum. if it doesn't match, it will result in a boot loop...
You said, you can run the erecovery?
So as i think there the fastboot tool from the pc via usb should work and you can flash images from there... Maybe the Multitool can help you out...
more about these in another thread: hope that helps

many thanks for the help
how can i determine the correct versions required? the phone was on B170 before trying to update to B180 using TWRP. However, TWRP is completely wiped system and data, so not sure what to chose?
Here we are.... i'd suggest you the B170 recovery because i think your updated failed because of twrp and so i think you'r still on a bricked b170..
All attached Recoveries are extraced by me from the official Honor Full Updated/OTA Updates.
https://www.wetransfer.com/download...bf822f892c6fc4772b6f113820160221204857/194eef
the files will stay online here till the 28 February, 2016.... (sorry for the short lifetime)
Edit: It's not a good idea to apply a downloaded OTA Update files using twrp to the system. It's better to apply the stock recovery, remove root (if available) and let the honor update decide themself, how to apply the update or to put the update in the update folder..
Thanks @Dattel01 but how do I flash these? They are IMG files. Shouldn't they be in update.app format?
Please search these forum for "fastboot". I think i already posted a link to a topic where fastboot will be described...
Problem is that I cannot enter fastboot, only the rescue mode mentioned
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65420964
managed to get into fastboot by letting the battery drain then connecting usb cable with computer whilst holding vol down.
flashed boot, recovery, and system via fastboot. Now stuck in continuous boot loop with no mode responding. just restart after honor logo.
will let battery drain again and see if I could get back into fastboot
Maybe that tool helps you

Huawei recently shipped update B180.
They advised to unroot the phone first, but I have been stupid and updated with TWRP installed on the second recovery partition (e-recovery?) and the update failed.
My phone now won't boot. I can put it in fastboot/recovery mode and access TWRP, so I guess all I need is a stock ROM.
I cannot find anything useful for Honor 7 with Google, I would like a recent ROM (most recent I found is a B130).
I would also appreciate some advice on how to recover from this boot freeze.
Would flashing a stock ROM with TWRP be enough?
Thank you very much.
I'm kinda pissed since that phone is quite expensive.
You cannot flash a stock rom with TWRP.
You have to flash the stock recovery then a stock rom, using fastboot.
The more recent stock rom available is the B130, unfortunatly.
Have a look at my posts, I have done similar (although I had the normally recovery.img installed) you need to downgrade using the marshmallow downgrade ROM then to the full 121 or 130 ROM after putting the stock recovery back (for the version your phone was on before this happened I assume it was 170 if you were going to 180) once you are back on 130 you can then upgrade up to 180 through the usual process. I have done this a few times and it has been fine whilst experimenting with the device.
The current version of the phone appears to be burned in to it (I think curver.img is doing this inside the UPDATE.APP but I haven't found a way of flashing this file back to the phone to play around with downgrading without the MM downgrade ROM), this I think is what causes it to hang if it has a boot.img and recovery.img that does not match the version the phone thinks it is.
I am in the same boat with @rbuccia.
I can only access fastboot and recovery (twrp).
I also found that I must have something wrong with 3rdmodem because if i wipe form inside twrp I always get an error message on that partition.
Also I have a rom from Kangvip flashable with twrp but veven this has no effect.
I think that we cannot unbrick it without a completely and full stock rom but I think there is no one.
Any idea?
This method should work for the above, first we need to get your device to boot. The following should work... Extract UPDATE.APP from the B180 ROM and then extract boot.img and recovery.img using Huawei Update Extract. Now extract the UPDATE.APP from the full 130 ROM and extract system.img using the Huawei image extractor. Once you have them 3 files, place them in the same folder as your fastboot installation and do the following...
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
This should give you a working bootable phone, it will be a mess half 180 for Kernel etc... and the system itself will be 130 but it should boot. Then place the MM downgrade ROM into the dload folder on your SDCARD and run the update process, it will crash at 95% this is fine the phone will boot back up. Now place the UPDADTE.APP from 130 in the dload folder and run the update again, this should flash and give you a fully functioning normal system running version 130, then follow the update process to get back to 180.
The modem will get flashed as part of the 130 update package so hopefully that will resolve that issue for you as well.

Thanks for the tips, but
1. Where can i download the B180 full firmware?
2. I can't access the VOL+ VOL- POWer AKA updater mode, it just bootloops.
Thx
Its on one of the threads at the top of General all the firmwares are there, no you don't need to do the vol+/- thing, just power power it down and then hold power up whilst plugging in to your PC. If this works the device will load up in fastboot and you should be able to flash what you need, to do the above the bootloader will need to be unlocked but you can do that from fastboot.
If your device is in a boot loop plug it in via USB to your PC and keep holding the volume up and when it reboots eventually it will go in to fastboot.

I must be blind, but i can only find the ota updates, not the full stock firmware :/
Thx tho, i'm starting to understand a bit better how it works and how i can fix it.
I'll just try to flash boot and recovery for B100 and B130 untill i cant make it work, for the system.app tho i can't take the B180 as i can't find it.
You need to use the system.img from B130 it is located here https://mega.nz/#!PlpXnLxD!azPTqEscNnwuSdrjpJJKO9zkyCpzAl7d6w3OpYx1se8 once you have this follow the above process and you should end up with a phone thats working and has the correctly matching firmware. Make sure you do it all though, just because it will boot with a mismatched boot loader and system.img doesn't mean you should keep it that way, it could be unstable and will cause issues with future upgrades.

Thx for the reply ! But that's what i said earlier, when i flash boot.img, system.img and recovery.img from the B130 update.app, the phone still bootloops.
I have access to the Huawei E-recovery if i do VOL+ POWER while the phone is plugged in the pc
I have access to the fastboot mode if i do VOL- POWER while the phone is plugged in he pc
I DON'T have access to the software mode upgrader if i do VOL+ VOL- POWER, no matter is the phone is plugged in or not
The phone still bootloops, plugged in or not.
:/
You need to flash boot.img and recovery.img from 180 and system.img from 130, sorry if that was not clear above! the boot loop is being caused because the boot.img doesn't match the version your phone thinks its on, if 180 doesn't work try the version before you upgraded i.e. 170 the system.img is just the android OS if you see HONOR glowing then you are booting system.img at that point but if it isn't glowing then you are still in the bootloader at that point so you need to sort out boot.img.
I've never been in 180, and as i said, i can't take the boot and recovery.img from the OTA update, i need a full stock firmware of B180 ! :/
Thx for the help tho.
I already tried to flash boot.img from B100 b121 and B130, and the phone still bootloops :/

This fixed it!
Found this and it worked for me.
Download latest Official Full ROM from EMUI's site, HuaweiUpdateExtractor and adb / fastboot.
2. Unzip ROM and open UPDATE.APP with HuaweiUpdateExtractor.
3. Extract SYSTEM.img and RECOVERY.img (delete .header files that HuaweiUpdateExtractor generates you need only .img files) and put them in adb folder.
4. Boot in fastboot and conect to PC. (You can achieve this from TWRP to boot to bootloader, adb dosent work but fastboot will there is also key combination to get to bootloader/repair mode or what it is).
5. Open cmd.exe from adb folder and type (or copy-paste) the follow commands one by one:
Code:
fastboot devices
Code:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
Code:
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
And finally where i had some trouble:
If you got no permissions try again or take usb cable off etc. Took me while to get back from same situtation. Few reboots to TWRP and to bootloader and USB replugging while in bootloader.
And for LINUX: i used split_updata.pl-master from github to extract the .APP/Firmware needed to sudo fastboot aswell.
Hiiiii guys
Please help me respected sir and other friends.
Anyone have twrp backup of stock rom ?
Because I want go back to stock rom and I have only twrp not pc please thanks in advance
Hi,
I have bricked my Honor 5x after flashing custom recovery. This these the steps I followed:
1) Unlocked the bootloader
2) Flashed TWRP recovery
3) Flashed root
4) Tried to update OTA
Now the phone is stuck at boot screen. I can enter recovery by pressing volume down and power, but now is stock recovery. And I don't know what to do.
Can someone help me?
OK u can't OTA update with twrp AND U SHOULD try adb flashing twrp through fastboot and maybe restoring a nandroid if u have one if not there's some u can download around here
Hey, my phone is bricked too. How did you manage to flash adb during twrp. How did you restore the backup and where did you get it from?
Or could someone please explain to me how I can get back to stock. I saw one thread with the .app file, but there you had to go the setting or something, which I can't do.
I have twrp installed and I have the L21 version.
Ok, I figured it out. I took the backup and the instructions from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/unrooted-stock-rom-t3308902

I was able to get my phone back to stock using the update.app file and the Huawei Update Extractor
Download stock firmware and extract the update.app file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/repository-honor-5x-file-depot-t3328288
Download Huawei Update Extractor
http://d-h.st/wwfQ
Use the Huawei Update Extractor to open the update.app file and extract system.img, Cust.img, boot.img, recovery.img
Copy the extracted files to your adb folder
Connect the phone to the PC in fastboot mode, to do this power off the phone hold Volume down and insert a usb cable connected to the PC
Type these commands on ADB:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot reboot
After that you should be back on stock firmware
I tried to do that too. But the problem was that my adb didn't recognize my phone. Of course I had everything installed.
When I unlocked the bootloader earlier, it worked. But there I had to enable USB debugging. When my phone was broke, I couldn't enable it. Maybe that's why?
However, my phone is working right now, so thanks anyway.
fixed

Hi, sorry for hijacking a thread but I thought it'd be better than making a new one.
I did pretty much the same as the OP, unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP recovery, rooted and then stupidly tried to do an official update on the phone (I believe it was kiw-l21c432b140)
The phone is just now stuck at the boot screen, I can get into fastboot mode but cannot use ADB, says device isn't found no matter what I try. I also tried putting stock firmware on the SD card and going into download mode (EMUI) but it just says software install failed.. Any help appreciated, only got the phone today and have spent longer trying to fix it than I have using it..
Thanks!

As long as you are able to boot into fastboot you still have hope
Are you able to get into TWRP? (Power + Vol up) If yes, download the L-21 stock rom in the file repository thread and flash it. In all likelihood, that will solve any corruption of system files. If not, read on.
Did you check if you have installed the ADB drivers? I am assuming it should have been installed considering you flashed TWRP, but better to check and reinstall. Device not found is usually a driver error. Alternatively, you can install HiSync, it refreshes and replaces the drivers needed for Honor 5X. Further to installing that, try adb fastboot commands and flash the stock recovery using the steps in this post:

Oh then you have stock recovery, are you using the update.app provided by Huawei? Or using any ROMs/images posted here? It is possible that you may have a corrupted download, look up the Huawei site for downloads in the support section for your region and download the official update.app, try with that

It wasn't stock recovery before, after the phone updated it went back to stock and wouldn't boot. I downloaded the firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/stock-kiw-l24-l21-t3312684 and that's what I try to install through recovery and it says there's an error, a load of other texts flashes up before it says error but it's too quick to read. When I have better internet I'll re-download it in case it was corrupt. Thanks for your help, hopefully I can get it fixed as I only just got this to replace my old phone. Would be a shame to spend the money on it and have no use from the device.. Just wish the computer would detect through adb as I can get into fastboot easily enough.

Sure, we all help each other
BTW, just to be sure, you using the single "Update.app" file, that runs into a couple of gigs or the extracted one? You can't flash extracted Update.app through stock recovery.
HiSync (the official Huawei tool) also provides an option to recover the phone, tried that?

I wanted to do a nandroid backup so I did adb reboot recovery to go to TWRP, now I can't boot into system, I'm stuck in twrp, I can't even power off the phone it keeps booting up again and again. Please help i'm really lost. Thanks
I did boot to System but with another key combinaison (volume down + power) , I think it's all messed up and the phone thinks that the recovery is the default boot option.. idk how to change this

If you can reach the stock recovery, just put update.app file and install it. If you can't, try to flash boot.img and recovery.img manually. After that, try to install rom again.

Okay follow these step, if you don't understand any step ask again. But follow these:
Download the UPDATE.APP of the Build number you were on before.
Extract system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, cust.img from that UPDATE.APP
Flash all these files via bootloader mode, to boot into bootloader mode, once a loop is over and you see blank screen on your phone, quickly press Vol DOWN button and while pressing it connect your phone to a PC. If this doesn't work and you get into recovery, then in recovery go to option Reboot, in that select Bootloader.
Once in bootloader mode, flash these files by firing these commands from a CMD, make sure files are situated in the same location where you open up the CMD.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now after your phone boots up normally, put the same UPDATE.APP from which these files were extracted in dload folder of your external SDcard.
Now switch off your phone and press all the three buttons(Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power) simultaneously.
Flashing process will start.
Hope this helps.

@DigiGoon No need to flash system.img actually Just cust, boot and recovery is enough (i think). I forgot to tell cust but it's not necessary always.

I'm having similar problem as OP. I get access to TWRP(by holding power+vol up), but not fastboot anymore. My TWRP is in chinese and but I found the reboot menu and the alternatives are: System, Power Off, Recovery and Download. I think i've tried them all and none of them brings me fastboot. I went into loop when I tried to install SuperSu through TWRP on stock rom. Is there hope? Yesterday I managed to get into fastboot, but can't remember what I did. I heard something about draining the battery and then theres hope?

Several options you got:
Install older SuperSU. I remember I had the same thing and the only way was to downgrade SuperSU. 2.5x, I think.
Try to access fastboot - turn off phone, keep vol- pressed and power up. Release vol- when you see fastboot screen. Try it with and without USB PC connection.
Try to deplete your battery. It works in other devices as after charging again, boot.img behaves differently. Don't ask me why, but if the phone charges as it is, no harm in trying.
Wipe all partitions - Dalvik, cache, data, internal storage and system. And then install a custom ROM from sdcard or USB-OTG. You can access H7 content from PC, through USB, while in TWRP.
Huawei eRecovery
I got into Huawei eRecovery EMUI, but when I try to "Download latest version and recovery" and connect to wifi it fails:"Getting package info failed". The other options are Reboot and Shutdown. Could this be useful?
Another question how to transfer to sd-card when in twrp. The phone is detected in windows as MTP thingy, but in adb shell no devices is found... I'm too noob for this.
Got into fastboot mode, and flashed all the imgs except system.img where I get error "cannot load"... Got the ADB drivers now, but still adb shell finds no devices. It appears that my TWRP is gone, and instead I get Huawei eRecovery. So my problem now is that I dont get system.img flashed, still stuck at honor-logo, and can't push files with adb, I get "no devices". Any tips?
Got it now, thank you very much! But what's the point in doing the last steps with dload when everything seems to be good?

Please share your solution with others, so that your post can be referred.
Doing a forced updated (dload) gives the absolute assurance you flashed all the partitions correctly with all the *.img compressed files in the update.app file.

When you flash the partitions manually, we are not flashing all of them, only some of them, and some partitions are not in regular img format, so by doing the three button update we can put all the partitions in their respective places.
Another benefit of doing force update is that if you don't know your build number and flashed system.img, cust.img etc of some other build then by doing a force update all the img files of same build are flashed.
Hello, fellow Android hackers.
Short: I am trying to install CM on a L21, but fail booting into TWRP (getting only stock recovery).
What I did, working with a brand-new phone:
Unlock bootloader.
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.
Boot to TWRP. It worked.
Try flashing CM, which failed due to some failed assert. Googling revealed a thread on these forums which suggested I had to do a stock update to Marshmallow first.
Downloaded the update through EMUI's updater.
The updater booted to TWRP which aborted the installation because of a failed zip signature check.
I disabled signature checking and ran the installation again. It succeeded.
Tried to directly install CM over it. I got the error message stating I couldn't flash on top of incompatible data.
At this point, I probably should just have wiped system and flash CM, but for some reason I decided to boot to stock.
Here is where it all seems to have gone wrong.
Try to flash and boot to TWRP, like in steps 13 to 18.
Push the B340 UPDATE.APP to /sdcard/dload.
Start the phone using power + vol down + vol up.
I have verified that the phone is on B340 and the builtin updater won't find further updates.
(I have repeated this step and the following ones countless times.)
Boot to bootloader and flash TWRP. Yes, the command succeeds.
Code:
…$ sudo fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-kiwi.img
target reported max download size of 266338304 bytes
sending 'recovery' (45202 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.418s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.641s]
finished. total time: 2.059s
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery # boots to stock recovery
Boot to bootloader and flash TWRP.
Hold power + vol up
I read that the duration holding the keys matters, so I tried this very often, but I always got to one of two different stock recoveries.
Factory reset and cache wipe with one of the two stock recoveries.
I also considered crushing the phone on the wall on multiple occasions, but then decided it would not help me with my goal.
Okay.
L21 with B340, how u boot to TWRP? -_-
Also, the two stock recoveries have the menu options "Download latest version and recovery, Reboot, Shutdown" and "Reboot, Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition".
I humbly thank everyone in advance who might have some contributions to share.
ok . as i understand ,
First Charge Ur Phone Up To 50%+
Second : Go Back To Stock L 5.0.1
Third : download The latest Nightly Version OF CM + Recovery Rom | Recovey
Forth : Flash Recovery Only Throw ADB if u got any error please Attach here if success Go to step 5
Fifth : Shut Down And HOLD Volume-up + Power As soon u see Honor logo Release Power But Keep Volume Rocked Pressed !
Last : Install The Cm After U already copy To SD Card .
Gd Luck ! .
i will presume that you are on stock recovery,
now go to honor 5x repository and download b320 firmware
now place it in dload folder and flash
now boot to bootlader and try flashing twrp
then do not directly boot to revovery
just do fastboot reboot
then now do adb reboot recovery
youl be with twrp and forst things first ,compulsarily do a backup
then now assuming that you have transfered layest cm to sd card,
first goto wipe , then select all except internal and external sd cards , then wipe
now install, you should be good to go,
i had your issue when i was on b34p, but b320 is a great base and supports all custom roms..try it
(I am sorry for not answering sooner, but I have a lot on my plate right now. :/ )
Thanks for the replies.

2: As I understood it I only had to upgrade to M in the first place to be able to install CM. The downgrade will not undo whatever happened there?
3: I am not sure that I understand what you're trying to say, but I know of no way to flash recoveries via ADB. The point is that, as posted in the OP, flash via fastboot allegedly succeeds and as soon as I boot to the recovery, I'm back to stock.

Thanks. I actually tried the dload method with B140 after writing this post, but it doesn't seem to work—same with B330 (the repo doesn't contain a B320 for L21). As far as I can tell, the dload install appears pretends to work fine: I'm getting a successful archive verification, an install meter and no error message. But the OS is not replaced.
I am uncertain if I need an actual microSD card—different sources seem to suggest different things here—but I generally would assume that, if there was no valid image in the right place, I would be getting an error message.
I am fine with whatever suggestion that wouldn't result in a brick. Data loss is fine, there's nothing on it.
A dumb question but do you disconnect the phone from PC or Mac after flashing twrp, firing fastboot reboot and quickly press power and vol up to boot to twrp.
If you already did that, try unlocking command once more and then try flashing it...
You can also try
Fastboot boot twrp_kiwi.img
To boot directly to twrp without flashing.
Hope any of it works.

I love you. I had totally forgotten about that. Using the boot command I managed to install CM, but I still cannot replace the stock recovery. Maybe I'll try letting CM write its own recovery with its next update, but I guess I'll leave it at that. The only downside is that my dad now needs me for doing updates. :/
Thanks very much.

how to boot Honor 5x into TWRP
I know this is an old post, but since I tried for nearly a week to get my Honor 5x to boot in TWRP when pushing volume up + power button, I just wanted to post how I finally got it working, just in case anyone else should have the same problem...
1. First, I downloaded the latest stock rom. On my Honor 5x Android 5 (Lollipop) was installed, so I downloaded an Android 6 (marshmallow) stock rom. Make sure to get the correct version for your region (e.g. C432 for Europe). I found the correct rom file by simply googeling. If you are in a boot loop or do not have a working android on your phone, read instructions below.
2. I un-zipped the rom file and copied the update.app to my sd card to folder "dload"
3. I booted regularly into Android and started the update installation from the settings, where I could select option to install from SD card.
4. once that was done, i enabled USB debugging in developer tools and booted into TWRP from ADB with command
fastboot boot twrp-3.1.0-0-kiwi.img
5. Then, I installed SuperSu (SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip)
6. Then, I flahed TWRP directly FROM TWRP. To do so, I clicked "Install" button, clicked "Install Image" and then selected TWRP file (which i copied to my SD card earlier). BE CAREFUL TO FLASH TWRP as Revovery (NOT boot). Actually, I first flashed twrp-3.0.0-0-kiwi.img, then directly after flashed twrp-3.0.2-0-kiwi.img and then I flashed twrp-3.0.0-1-kiwi.img (you see I was kind of desperate...). After that, from TWRP I booted into bootloader and again flashed twrp image from PC using adb:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-kiwi.img
7. from ADB, I again booted into TWRP
fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-0-kiwi.img
8. ... where I once more installed TWRP.
After that I clicked reboot and selected to boot into Recovery. Then it finally worked.
After endless tries to get my phone to boot into TWRP when pushing volume up and power button, I am not sure which of the above steps made the difference. I think the important part is to update to the latest android version.
BTW: my first problem was I bricked my phone by trying to install lineageos from TWRP 3.1.1.1 and was in an endless bootloop. Here is how I got a regular android running:
I booted into bootloader (power + vol DOWN) and flashed the following files from adb (i got the files by extracting an android stock rom with Huawei Update Extractor (HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.3.zip)):
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
Hope this helps...
It's better to post in a new thread, that will be more helpful for you
I screwed up my phone lol, when I was updating it to oreo, I didn't know that the update.zip file was corrupted.
Now I'm stuck on
Error!
Func NO : 9 (hifi image)
Error NO : 1 (security image failed)
My version was...
STF-L09C185B170
What i tried to install that failed is...
STF-L09C185B361 (8.0.0.361)
I can still go to fastboot with everything unlocked, I can also flash a twrp recovery, but only by typing flash recovery_ramdisk(instead "recovery"), and when I try to do the update method by pressing vol up, vol down, and power, it doesnt take me to the update section, it just show me a crashed screen, then goes back to error message.
I also tried volup and power, I can't seem to go to twrp(I think booting to twrp and flashing zip files can be one of the only ways to fix this). Is there a way to go to twrp recovery using fastboot?
I've also tried flashing extracted files from update.app manually, it doesn't work. Some files can be flashed, while some can't.
Please I'm begging u guys, pls halp :crying:
also I guess the lesson here is: double check if your file is corrupted before installing/flashing
First, what is the way you took triying to update ?
(When done from system UI, official or FF, there is an integrity check of downloaded files.)
It seems you got oreo partition scheme during your failed update.
First see this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/fastboot-erecovery-recovery-upgrade-mode-t3543441
Try to restore using erecovery. (download and update firmware via wifi)
If not working you could use HWOTA8.
For launching recovery (stock or twrp) from bootloader type "fastboot reboot recovery".

I downloaded the oreo file using a browser and installed it with HWOTA, everything got inserted into my device, but the update failed and it gave me the error when I reboot. Also I can't get to erecovery or upgrade mode(that's the crashed screen), and "fastboot reboot recovery" doesn't work, it just show me a list of commands(which I assume happens if the command is invalid).
Ok I'll try HWOTA8, but I need to configure it so it recognizes my device, only my adb recognizes it.
Do 'fastboot devices work'?
Try english hwota8.

Nah, I figured it out, I backed up my adb folder and just merged hwota8 with it. Yes, it does work.
Btw how do I fully turn off the device? it just keeps bootlooping if i hold down the volup and power key, maybe this is the reason why I can't get into twrp recovery.
My only hope is that I can flash something on fastboot that will let me go to update mode(or erecovery) or twrp.
Like.. anything, even boot.img fails when I try to flash it. It must be stuck on oreo partition.
Also I did considered dc phoenix, but I don't have the money to pay for an account. Man, why is unbricking not free on huawei devices? That guy prolly made a fortune by now(for holding everyone with unbrick leverage lel), and it's a huge mistake for me to fiddle with a huawei device, it has so many problems with twrp and root.
If anyone can find a way to do unbrick it, like anything, that would be great.
So you didn't manage to use honor9's hwota8 ?

I used it but it didn't worked, I need to be either booted in the phone's os or inside twrp recovery bec. all of the commands executed by hwota8 are adb shell, not fastboot. Like I said, I only have access to fastboot, but I'll try again tomorrow. This is taking a lot of my time and I'm having panic attacks that I may not be able to fix this lol. Oh yeah, thanks for helping out.
Note: Since Oreo, partitions names have changed ; "recovery" changed to "recovery_ramdisk" now.
Use this command to flash recovery: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk YourStockOrTwrpRecovery.img
Use oreo stock recovery or oreo twrp.
But I thought with hwotas available for honor 9 you started from bootloader...

I already did that, read the OP. Like I said, I can't boot into any recovery, not twrp not stock, not even upgrade mode, nothing.
As for hwota8, nope, it doesnt start from the bootloader, it's already trying to use the adb shell commands.
Anyway I'm taking all chances, I'm trying to research oreo's partitions names, and I'm also trying to find out how to bypass this message "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)" bec. it might be the only way I can salvage this phone.
edit: ok im trying hwota8 again, maybe i missed something, and yes it has fastboot, sorry i was rushing but im trying again now, i'll post my progress later
