hello - I want to use my redundant Note (GT-N7000) as a dedicated music server - no other functions really necessary other spotify and internet.
I've had the phone rooted (by One Click Root) and it's currently running JB4.1.2. I wanted to download USB Audio Player to get best digital output but they tell me the kernel must support 'isochronous transfer' which apparently the Note mk1 does not do.
Can someone pls advise what kernel I need to get to allow me to proceed, and also if I need to further upgrade to KitKat or Lollipop etc.
(sorry for my ignorance)
Phone build no. JZ054K.N7000XXLT9
current kernel version as shown on phone:
3.0.31 - 1103517

SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 4 20.55.52 KST 2013
Many thanks in hope...

Hi all,
Hope someone can help me, since google search did not help me. I am confused as to which kernel my device has? I have flashed it a few times but reverted back to stock ROM. Now i fancy flashing again and once again the kernel question comes up. which one do i need.
So started by following a guide on how to roote my device and it mentioned this link with insecure kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671
however i am not sure which one i can use. tried this one GT-I9100_XWKL1_insecure but it caused my phone not to boot.
Looking at Settings > About Device > Kernel i saw somewthing similar to below
Baseband version = I9100XXMS2
Kernel version = 3.0.31 - 1156082
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Mon Apr 22 16:13:38
KST 2013
Build number = JZO54K.I9100XWLSS (this bit not the same)
Could someone help me understand this? Which ones can be used on my device?
The last 5 letters. That's your kernel. However...
That root method is rather obsolete; stickied post 4th from the top of Q&A has a quick/easy method you can use.
I am looking to root my UK Galaxy S2 with the best backup/recovery options included;
Code:
Model number GT-l9100
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version l9100XXMS
Kernel Version: 3.0.31 – 1211311 [email protected] #3. SMP PREEMPT Thu May 16 10:05:20. KST 2013
Build number JZO54K.l9100XWLSW)
From a few days worth of reading it seems as if the best option is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270 (PhilZ-cwm6 - Safe Stock Based Kernel Featuring PhilZ Touch 6
(Enhanced CWM v6.x, now with exFat+ext4+NTFS support)
The part I would like someone to confirm for me if possible is that the correct file to do this for my specific phone/kernel/etc would be the PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSW-XEU-5.06.1-signed.zip found here http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=17703#files
I believe it to be that based on the "LSW" in the build number - have I deduced this correctly..?
Thought it would be best to try to get it confirmed as most of the guides refer to the kernel code (XWLPX-NEE in that example) not `build number` when they talk about it. Still picking my way through the terminology.
Correct.
It is sufficient that flash the root for your build, nothing more. However i think it is correct
Hi, I am now to this forum so I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong place. I have a Sky Vega A810k running ICS 4.0.4. I am running windows 8 on my laptop and I have tried every possible rooting method available online and it doesn't work. I have booted into Fastboot and tried and every possible method but it has not worked so far. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. My phone is with the following information:
Baseband version
S0835214.TP20.R30145
Kernel Version
3.0.8-perf
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Mon Mar 18 19:12:03 KST 2013
Build Number
IMM761
Board and Software Version
MSM8660_SURF
V2.14
Thank you.
Hi all,
I recently just bought a used s2 really cheap, this is my first android phone (I had a windows phone previous to this one, dont laugh)
I would like to root it (but not install custom roms because the thought of that scares me) but I am a bit confused about the process. I have watched plenty of videos and read plenty of tutorials but its very confusing (to me anyway).
Just think of me as a tourist asking for directions.
so here is all the information i can give you about the phone:
-Model number: GT-I9100
-Android version: 4.1.2
-Baseband version: I9100XXMS2
-Kernel version: 3.0.31-1211311
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Thu May 16
10:05:20 KST 2013
-Build number: JZO54K.I9100XWLSW
Im fairly sure this phone was bought in Ireland (where I live) so would I need some sort of 'European' variant?
So all I need is someone to point me to which niknak I need to download to get me going, thanks in advance -Liam
Thread stickied near top of Q&A titled '- Flash Stock firmware/ROM + Root' has all the info you need.

Nothing I haven't done in my life on stock 4.1.2 on my i9100. But here you go anyway:
1. Download this .zip file and place it on your external SD card. (link: http://d-h.st/Pyr)
2. Go to recovery mode by turning your phone off and pressing this combo: Volume up + Home button + Power button
3. In recovery, choose to install zip from external storage (as it's the only option to install .zip when you're using stock recovery)
4. After the installation is done, reboot your device and you should see SuperSU app in your drawer. Update it on Play Store as it's an old version.
The reason I gave you this .zip file is because it always works on stock recovery with no issues. Happy rooting
P.S. Sorry for "spamming" this post
thanks
Thanks for the help but I have a question. Are you positive that the ''CWM-SuperSU-v0.97.zip'' that you linked me is the right one? I mean is it right for the s2 I have, the GT-I9100 XWLSW. Also what does the ''XWLSW'' mean anyway?

if you just want root (no custom kernel/recovery) go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/ics-jb-supersu-stock-recovery-t2796008
Thanks
