The problem I'm experiencing is region blocking. I cannot download some apps because they are not available in my region. I've tried a few apk downloaders however I have not been able to find one that is capable of downloading Android TV apps. Do you know of one which does?

I have a Shield console and it is not supported yet.. Could someone share the apk so I may see if it works on the Shield?
Go to http://apkpure.com/region-free-apk-download, paste https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.disney.disneymoviesanywhere_goo&hl=en in to the address box and press the green button to download the APK.
I was hoping that there was maybe a different version that would download to the Nexus Player... The latest version says varies with device, so I thought that there may be a special version only for the compatible Android TV devices.

Does anyone have the apk which is for Android TV devices?
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to know is there any way to make streaming apps work on Remix OS PC. I have installed it succesfully via UEFI dual boot on my Acer Laptop. Installed all apps like youtube, chrome via Playstore. But when I installed NBA TV app, all video cannot be played. It will just show "The video is currently not available".
Is there any way I can do to make it work or do I need to install something?
Please help.
Thanks!
i have the same issue. some apps stream but others don't. i don't know why.
maybe having m3u8 file of that live stream and playing it with an app being capable of url playing helps. i dont know.

Is there a web feed available? If so you could try flashfox browser, I was able to watch Amazon prime videos using it on devices that wouldn't play the app.
i have not tried to watch games in browser with flash. I just preferred using the app itself since it is on android. Playing it in browser can be done also in windows. thanks for the info.

I am away from home so I can't boot up Remix to check myself, but have another idea to try. I know some apps check build prop to get the ro.product info eg. device, manufacturer, name etc. If those lines are in Remix it may work to change it to spoof a device that is known to run the app.

Thanks for the idea. I have tried editing the build.prop. but still it is not working. Maybe the Remix OS itself is not ready yet for some apps. or there is something in the NBA app or server than cannot recognize the remix device / OS.
I'm trying this for PC first since I'm planning to buy the Remix Mini. But if the NBA app or other apps will not run normally on the Remix Mini, I might wait for a moment to buy this box.
EDIT: You can now find the latest Spotify app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-player/themes-apps/spotify-v0-5-2b-removed-amazon-t3331632
MUUUUCH Better!
Hi! I waited a long time for Spotify Connect to come to the Nexus Player but it haven't happened yet, so I fixed the next best thing: Amazons Spotify Connect app.
I removed the need for the Amazon Store, so simply sideload it, install it, opened it ones and you now have Spotify Connect on your Nexus Player!
It's created for the Fire Stick so it does crach from time to time but not that often so for me it's well worth it to be able to have Spotify Connect on my Nexus Player!
omg I could kiss you right now! This does work 100%... thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
Is paid account needed for this to work?

Yes. Spotify Premium is needed to use Spotify Connect. That's the was Spotify have made it.
Now they have a Spotify app: http://www.aftvnews.com/spotify-for-fire-tv-updated-to-full-featured-app-with-free-music/ Maybe this would run on Android TV too?
Link in the comments. Runs fine on the shield, I guess it would work on the player as well. https://plus.google.com/105948887020731726958/posts/hXGswqQQEK6
No it doesn't work fine on the shield. This apk needs to be hacked just like the previous one.

May anybody upload the new Sptotify app from the Amazon appstore? It looks very promising: http://www.amazon.de/Spotify/dp/B00N1XIY5Q

Ok, someone posted a zip file with a "Spotify Connect" version 0.3.0 apk from 24.01.2016 and the Amazon Appstore apk from Oct. 2015.
I installed both, logged in at the Amazon Appstore, "bought" the Spotify Connect App (see http://www.amazon.com/Spotify/dp/B00N1XIY5Q).
I can start the new Spotify app without issues.
Maybe someone will create a version that does not need the Appstore installed...

I have purchased the apk using the link you have provided and it does work, The problem I am currently running into is that if i have the Amazon Instant Video app installed to get Prime Video Launcher working, I cannot use this version of spotify (0.5.2)
Downloaded the new Spotify app and removed the need of Amazon Store.
You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-player/themes-apps/spotify-v0-5-2b-removed-amazon-t3331632
Hi,
It works but I dont' have the volume control
There is a BBC iPlayer Android TV app available for the Nvidia Shield TV, but I have not been able to locate native versions of the following:
All4, ITVHub, Demand 5, RTÉ Player, 3Player, and TG4.
Versions of these apps for *regular* Android exist, and they can be sideloaded, but using a mouse or game controller stick to navigate these does not appeal.
- Do versions of these apps exist that would work properly on the shield, perhaps sideloading Sony Android versions, if that is even possible?
- Is there a complete list of Android TV apps available for all regions somewhere? Browsing to the Google Play Store link for same does not provide this.
- Anyway to check if native versions of these apps are in development, or to request them?
*Just to add, Kodi is one of the main reasons I use the Shield, there is a well working ITV addon for it, two BBC iPlayer addons, and a half working Irish TV addon. Unfortunately, even the ones that work properly cannot compare to the experience provided by the GUI of a full featured regular Android or Smart TV app.
These apps are available for the Android Amazon Fire TV, but until someone is kind enough to extract these apps and share I think we're stuck without them
Perhaps contacting nVidia to see what they can do?

I have never owned a Fire, but I have just read Fire OS is based on Android, and it is possible to sideload apks onto the fire. Would the Fire apps actually work on Android TV, and do you know if it is possible to extract them in the first place?
I will see if I can find the best way to contact Nvidia on this, be via email or their forums. In the meantime I have emailed the developers of the existing regular Android apps, asking if they could consider developing a native version for Android TV. If anyone wants to email expressing their interest in same it may help, here are the email addresses:

You could perhaps send them something similar to:
Hi
Could you please consider developing a version of the <insert app name> app native to Android TV? There seems to be a native app for every other platform, but the regular Android version of the app does not work on Android TV, which runs on for instance the Nvidia Shield TV, because it is aimed at touchscreen devices, rather than allowing the user navigate using a remote control.
Thanks
It seems this is possible, and I have requested this here:
Extract Fire TV APKs?
That said, someone else made a similar request and there is no indication on the thread this was fulfilled.
Perhaps an owner of a Fire TV would be willing to help us? Instructions on how to do this are in the linked thread!
I live in Scotland, and the STV Player app works fine on the nVidia Shield. But I'd also like these apps.
My5 works, too. however the app thinks it is a phone and it won't rotate out of vertical mode.
You'd think these companies would make a better effort at pushing apps for use on native Android TV.
Apps from
Amazon Fire TV
Sony Android TV's
will work on the nVidia shield for sure, but no one is able to provide them
If you look on the forum of the thread I linked to, other Amazon Fire apk requests have been fulfilled. I would be surprised if no one will help us out.
I really should have made a new thread there requesting these but it seems on XDA I cannot delete my post, and I do not want to cross post.
I have asked the mods to remove my post on the old thread, and created a new thread requesting these apks from an Amazon Fire TV owner. Voicing your interest in that new thread may help encourage someone to help us!

Have you tried using rotate this? It forces phone apps to be displayed as landscape.
So are you saying if there's a version that works with the amazon fire tv that it'll work for nvidia shield too?
I've tried to sideload the apks from my mobile devices before but with no joy.
We now have virgin tv and this doesn't support the full all4 and itv apps, only the past 7 days. Our TV also isn't supported so it would be really good to able to use these apps with the shield.
Would someone be so kind and upload the new Nvidia Shield ITV Hub App.
Inhave all the uk catch up on my shield using vpn from Ireland but the one I cannot get is all4 or 4player.Cant get it ti work even on the mobile app.
Is there a shield apk for all4 in 2018 ?
Just so you know all4 detects rooted devices even with magiskhide

Same request, could someone post or pm that APK from the shield, I want to see if it works on my Philips android TV ?
Nvideas own shield webpages say its available on the play store, and so it got me wondering if there's now a version optimised for use with remotes but not in the android TV play store for my device ?
I've tried extracting from my fire TV, but they won't install on other devices because they are linked to fire os,/app store
Thanks
OK so after nearly 4 years "my5" has had an update today that now makes it unusable on shield - so my5 is out of the equation
And my5 is back lol, well I downloaded the my5 apk from fire TV and Installed on shield, purchased my5 on amazon website through the browser on my gf's s5, then installed appstore and logged in on shield. After this my5 opens and works perfect, is actually way better than side loaded version by far - just need all4 to be remote friendly and I'm set. All I can seem to find are apk wrappers for all4 fire TV apk
Can someone please upload the latest My5 apk version 3.0.0.88.

I think you must to extract tv firmware and mod it, because it is obsolete, i have the same problem.. I want to install app and i can't, and i think it's possible to activate "hdr" with an upgade, and i want to do, but i do n't know how to extract firmware (xscuse my English, i'm italian) i have experience with mod firmware, mod app etc..
The model i have is GRAETZ GR43E5600, and i think that with the help of xda developers we can do this
