Confirmed working USB to ethernet: Cable Matters - Nexus Player Accessories

Greetings,
not sure if this deserve its own thread, but if not, please kindly merge it with others.
I just want to confirm that the following USB to ethernet device is working with my Nexus Player (via OTG plug):
Cable Matters 202023 USB 2.0 to 10/100 Fast Ethernet Network Adapter (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ET4KHJ2...6&sr=sr-1&keywords=cable+matters+usb+ethernet).
I purchased it cheap (<$10), initially intended for my laptop but tried it on my Nexus Player. For all the contents I am streaming from home server (up to 1080p), fast ethernet is fast enough.
The build quality is actually very decent. I was expecting worse (due to the price) but was pleasantly surprised. Coincidentally, it works with win10 without additional driver.
regards,

Just wanted to say to be careful with buying the one off dx.com
i grabbed one recommended on this thread, the cases are exactly the same but clearly something is different as it does not work

Not Working DX (Ripped it apart since its not working, chip says Pulse H1102NL 09154-C China)

To owners: do you have TV-Out via 3.5mm jack ? (not MHL)

The title says it all:
Does the new I9100 Galaxy S2 have analogic TV-Out, via 3.5 jack ? Apart from MHL.
My I9000 Galaxy S has, and it works well with a Nokia CA-75U cable.
On gsmarena they only mention TV-out (via MHL A/V link) (and i'm not even sure what that means - a HDMI-out ?). Anyway, all i want is to connect the phone to a TV that only has RCA or SCART inputs.
Thank you.
I have report from an owner who is reliable that his Nokia 3.5mm TV Out cable is not working with the SGSII. I can confirm this tomorrow when I get my phone also.
If I'm not mistaken TV out is only supported via the miniUSB plug to a HDMI socket, with a 1080p maximum resolution. The cable doesn't come supplied with the phone though.
not working with the cable from my old n95. SGS1 did support this. Might be due to the cable being half broken, but I think it just doesn't support it.
I was hoping both methods were simultaneously available, like with Nokia N8.
Just to confirm does not work for me either (on the plus side my cheap Ebay USB OTG cable does work).
Damn. So it's either HDMI out (when they get around to releasing the adapter...) or nothing?
For full mirroring, yes. There is the option to share media via DLNA of course, but I suspect that like me you really need mirroring...

Is mirroring via MHL confirmed?
I have not seen a single video or post confirming this.
You're quite right, mirroring isn't confirmed.
OMG!bad news,s2 cant tvout via 3.5 jack to my old tv!
This way, they sort of make us buy a new HD tv with digital inputs...

I think that it is also representative of the new technology. Honestly, I think RCA connectors are outdated and doesn't really make sense.
RCA uses analog, and most TVs now-a-days are digital. Almost no technology runs on analog anymore, so for phones like Nokia to output RCA, it has to have a chip inside to convert from Digital to an Analog output... Then when it reaches your TV, if it is a digital tv, then it has to convert the analog back to digital. At this point - not only is the resolution decreased, but the signal starts to artifact from converting from digital -> analog -> digital again.
I guess this means that people have to upgrade from their CRT/legacy LCD tvs that only accept RCA/AV inputs.
And for the even older CRT TVs, too bad for them because there's no support for coaxial out.
Now that would be cool -- a coaxial out cable for old TVs, in case we ever discover time travel, and want to show the future to people from the 80s on a nice big 19" color CRT TV.

Just some warning - I'm not sure if that will work since it's not an MHL USB-HDMI cable.
If it works at all, it won't be able to charge your phone and display HDMI at the same time because of the way it's designed.
If you don't want to buy the real cable, I saw a generic version here:
http://www.expansys-usa.com/expansys-mhl-to-hdmi-adapter-black-218572/
If you wait another month (I believe June is the month that the supply is supposedly being produced), I think China will have some copies made soon. For complete functionality and compatibility, make sure the cable meets and complies with MHL standards.

HML tv-out adapter for sgs2. $78 on ebay.
The official Samsung HDMI adapter doesn't look to be out for quite a while yet but there's one by BizLite over at Mobile Fun that should be in over the next fortnight (website says 9-14 days)
Cheaper than the official one too. Agreed that it's quite annoying having no TV-out on the 3.5mm jack!
There is maybe a hope.
Exynos 4210 supports composite output. If SGS2 has connected jack 3.5 to Exynos Composite Video Output soldered, there is a hope.
Hi all I need composite video out to connect phone to car video system - so it`s my only hope to get it from 3.5 jack somehow... or is it possible to convert hdmi to composite or component?

USB otg and slimport questions

Can the USB otg and HDMI be used at the same time?
My situation now is that I have the Moga Pro Power that I picked up at the pawn shop for $40
Noticed that it has quite a bit of lag using the A-mode, and still a noticeable amount of lag in B-mode, approximately 100ms.
So I'm wondering if it's possible to connect a wired controller via USB otg, and if that might have less input lag.
I'm also curious if I can output to HDMI while connected to a wired USB controller.
If I could create like a docking station on my TV that turns my phone into a mean little media station/console, that would be completely badass.
I saw this adapter on Amazon and eBay, it connects to the phone's microusb on one end, and has ports for HDMI, SD, Micro-SD, USB, and a Micro-usb for powering the phone and any attached USB device at the same time. You can find it by searching "otg slimport" on Amazon or eBay.. Selling for under $13 on eBay. Unfortunately, the same product on Amazon has only a 2 star rating. Reviews saying the charging port isn't working as advertised, and HDMI connection is touchy, and certain TVs are incompatible. So it looks like a no-go. China will manufacture and sell just about any hodgepodge of wires and plastic they think consumers will buy, that doesn't mean it will work.
So now I'm wondering if this sort of function is even possible, and if so, is there a product available that can provide it, and if there is no product like that, can somebody please make it?
So I did a bit of research, and it seems there's definitely some technical limitations as far as charging the phone wile in "host" mode. This means that while connected to USB OTG, the circuitry that is normally used to charge the phone, is used to supply power to the attached USB devices. I found a site that has a modified kernel for the Nexus 7 that enables charging the phone while connected to devices via OTG. https://mehrvarz.github.io/usb-host-mode-power-management-nexus7/
Maybe this could be implemented in the V10

USB-C capabilities?? USBpens, HDD, HDMI etc??

Anyone who knows the capabilities of the USB-C port?? Is it possible to use USBpens, external harddrives, card-reader etc? And how about USB-C to HDMI, a seller in a store told me he did it with his m5... But I have my doubts to whether that was "salesmens talk"...
Don't have an M5 yet (tomorrow), but the Mate SE (micro usb) port can be used for many things people are not aware of. For many things all you need is an OTG cable (usb-c or micro to usb). I've plugged in usb thumb drives and even a wireless keyboard and mouse using a logitech unifying receiver (first set usb connection to midi).
A quick search turned this usb-c to hdmi adapter on amazon, looks like there are many different ones available. Have never tried this with any of my android devices, but if they make these adapters, well it certainly gives one hope that it *might* work, it certainly must in some circumstances.
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Supporting-Thunderbolt-Compatible/dp/B00X4S5C7G
I have a HDMI adapter I use for the Nintendo Switch (which also should work with Samsung devices) and that one doesn't work with my M5 8.4.
I also have a USB-C OTG adapter and a USB memory stick works, but I haven't yried anything else.
It doesn't appear that the M5 is capable of hdmi output. Mhl and slimport seem to be absent.
I used a USB c combo dongle , it had USB A female and sd card slot.
On holiday I used it to copy my gopro videos to ssd. It wasn't pushing usb 3 speeds and the system acts a little weird when it is plugged in - movies that are downloading on amazon or Google play would go to the ssd or sdcard plugged in from otg, even though I have an sdcard in the external asd slot

Weird, I've tried it with Hugo 2 / UAPP playing hi-res flac and it seems to work fine. I set it in bit perfect mode and the bit rate indicator LED showed the correct bitrate. I did have to try a couple of unplug/replug to get the tablet to do some permission requests. It also worked with Youtube and the default Android audio system - though I did have to stop UAPP kicking in.
USB C can power external hard drive, and ive got one of those USB to 2.5in adapters that powers a 1tb toshiba laptop drive and that's ok too, the tablet also give me the option to reverse charge, so i presume it is capable of high amp output on the port, maybe up to 1A or more
I've tried an USB type-c to hdmi cable and it doesn't work , the same cable works on a P20 Pro.
Yeah the USB port isn't working correctly. It's supposed to be USB 3.0, but i am copying at 18MB/s (onto an SD card capable of 100MB/s)
Confirmed with Huawei it's USB 2.0
Seriously dissapointed, and I know it sounds silly but this device isn't useful without USB 3.0, I have an action camera and hence I copy video to internal SD card. What use is a device if you can't input/output to it fast enough.

HDM-Out does not work. I tried adding the necessary lines to the build.prop file as well with no success. Seems the hardware physically does not support MHL. We're stuck with MirrorShare which works pretty well.

Have same experience. Really regret buying high end Huawei M5 and then realised I could not use it with HDMI cable. Wireless projection is really lag!
For folks with slow USB data issues, it mat be that you need a powered hub for it to work optimally. I've had this issue with a few Android devices over the years.

MHL or USB-C video support?

I know this is not a popular feature these days, but I figure I would ask. Does this support any sort of video output via a cable? MHL dongle, USB-C to HDMI dongle, etc.
I would love to hook it up to a TV to play emulator games with no input lag.
Sorry I can not answer your question but I got to say that usb-c video out is criminally underrated. It is such an amazing and hassle free feature. I really hope it catches on. If you ask me its because for some reason its not advertised. I only know about it because I Googled it out of curiosity. 2 days and $15 later I had one of my own.

I would love to have this feature too. Would love to run something like Sentio Desktop or better still MIUI Desktop Mode (once they implement it). I would even buy this phone solely for this purpose.
I have the same question, can we use a cable usb c to hdmi in order to connect poco f1 to a tv.
The snapdragon 845 doas support it so it should work
But it doesn't work on some Sony smartphones with the supported soc
bro to clarify, actually usb type c is 3.0 port, and it does support reverse charging, dex, audio peripherals etc (according to USB corporation). but midrange and budget flagships like poco, oneplus does not provide 3.0 connectivity via those ports. they put a c type look-a-like port but it is micro usb wiring done on board. you can charge using any type c branded cable and transfer data but at 2.0 speed and the features you asked may not work. only limited manufacturers like lg, sony, samsung only provide real type c 3.0 or 3.1 port connectivity.
hope this clarifies something.

Does it work on Poco?
USB C video doesn't work. Already tested. There's already a thread and few users like me tested with such accessories. MHL also doesn't work (not tested by me but some other user) search general section.
I wonder if it can be enabled by software, though. There are much older phones without USB-C that can do it. Shouldn't USB 2 provide enough bandwidth?

As far as I understand it's a hardware issue, as in the hardware doesn't support it. I'm sure the USB type C port is just for charging and file transfer at USB 2.0 speeds

Question How to use our s23 Ultra as an android PC ?

Hello everyone.
my phone died at the same time as my PC last month (a coalition).
I bought the s23 ultra for its power hoping to be able to use it as a phone as much as as a PC (android pc).
Could you tell me what hardware is needed for this conversion (I already have a Bluetooth keyboard + mouse) ?
Best regards
Here is my setup (plug in a monitor for Dex to get a more desktop experience)
Dock 1 - (pictured) https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B095F4FZZY/
Dock 2 - (Raised) https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PFC2ZW9
Both of these have HDMI out and also plenty of extra ports for connecting things.

I had something like this and it works great if you are just wanting to hook it up to Dex. I have something similar and is great to have.
I switched to the Dock style like I linked because it allows me to use the phone without the need of an external display (but has the option to use one).
Either solution would work great and the best thing is you can plug in full size Mouse and KB to either option if you do not want to stick with the BT KB if it is not full size.
Thank for answers !
I've got something like that !

I don't know really what refresh rate is supported by our S23 Ultra
There are a lot of options to use S23U as an Android PC.
You can use a USB C dock. There are some docks that are more designed for desktop setup to be PC. I would suggest getting something that has passthrough power charging since there is only one USB port. Technically you can use Qi charging pad, but wireless charging tend to make batteries run hotter, which can shorten the life the battery in the long term.
Since Samsung has Dex on many of its phones, you essentially only need to hook the phone up to some kind of display. After that, it's about making it a better experience. This is connecting a keyboard, mouse, and so forth. I personally like Logitech ERGO K860 keyboard. Ergonomic, but has Bluetooth and a wireless receiver, and can be synced up to 3 devices. The Logitech MX Anywhere 3 Compact mouse it nice. Small, thus very portable. Also can synch up to 3 devices.
There are also lapdocks such as NexDock and Uperfect. These are basically like laptops but with no central processing or storage. They're a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. They're still pretty early in the product cycle and haven't gotten to a general population use. I have the Nexdock Touch and NexDock 360 wireless. They work very well, but there can be some quirks. The phone is all the CPU, GPU and storage. Most modern phones released in the last few years have the power any decent laptop; maybe more powerful in some cases. These can run $250-$600US, which some argue you can get a cheap Chromebook or laptop. The nice thing, when you upgrade your smartphone, you're "upgrading" the power of the "laptop". With NexDock, you can access the internals, which means, in theory, you can replace the battery. If true, it means you can keep/use the lapdock for years. I think YouTuber, JuanBagnell, does a good job explaining the pros and cons of lapdocks. He focuses on most people's everyday and most likely uses. He does not use the usual benchmarks; it's how certain programs actually perform. He has reviews of several Nexdock and Uperfect. YouTuber, ETA Prime, has some interesting reviews on some of them too; he is more gaming focused
You are going to want to read/watch information on Dex. It's one of the more "refined" desktop environments with smartphones. It's not like ChromeOS. Google hasn't only recently started to add a desktop environment to Android. It has a more Windows feel to it. Not apps play nice with it. Also realize, this is Android based. Thus, you're not going to be able to use Windows or MacOS applications. It has to be Andriod applications. Some apps have incorporated the desktop environment. Others not so much so they can look weird. Some applications are designed not to work in the desktop environment. On a side note, you don't have to use to Dex. There is an option to mirror your phone.
If it wasn't for a few specific Windows-based applications, I could literally ditch the home PC. This is why my home PC is very small and not a powerhouse. I recently upgraded to a Minisforum with Ryzen 9 integrated H6800 GPU from the NUC11. The GPU was an issue with a couple of applications I run and was starting to get annoying.

I don't think the S23 is purely dependant on the USB C adapter being HDMI or not. There are USB C to DP adapters. I think it's more, does the hub support the output of the S23 into a DP signal that the display will accept.
The VGA thing, that will probably require another adapter since you're going to need to change a digital signal to analog. I haven't checked in quite some time, but you may have some luck finding an adapter with HDFury. I used them a long time ago for HDMI to Component video (RGB). It may be kind of pricey.
