The update begins, the robot appears with the bar. The moment the bar begins to progress, my phone reboot back to 4.4.4 and tells me an error occurred. I have factory rreset and cleared cache but it still doesn't work.
What might be causing this?

I rooted with Kingroot, but recently uninstalled and removed my root access as it wasn't really benefitting me.

I don't think that cleaned it up from any traces of root.

As Giga says, you will still have traces of root on your phone. Flash a stock FTF first, then update.

I believe there is also an unrooting method for this. Unroot, and try the OTA again?

Doomlord's method is easy enough to unroot Do a web search and you should find the tool.

Assuming that you were only rooted and made no mods, the root wasn't the issue. Several people had issues with the XT912 when ics came out for it. I suggest wiping your cache partition and trying the update again.

So the story goes, I rooted my phone using Framaroot 1.8.1 and yes it was rooted successfully. Recently I updated my phone to version A706ROW_1_S_2_001_0018_130705, and because of this my phone became unrooted but still had superuser installed. I would like to re-root my phone using Framaroot again but it cannot be rooted due to superuser. I had no luck in other threads as I am new to the android world that even simple terms, I couldn't comprehend. I would like to ask a clear and brief guide/ explanation to how my unrooted phone with superuser's presence be removed completely. Thank you in advance, Please.

If I am rooted and have TWRP do I need to be concerned about OTA updates? If so what should I do?

I uninstalled the "system updates" file from my phone. It's a blue android icon & 3.4mb in size. Another forum somewhere discussed this and I believe that should work. I used an app called system app remover(pro) - it has a recycle bin and holds apps in there for you in case you need/want to re-install them later. Any root app delete should work just fine though.

You can freeze the update app, but an OTA won't work anyway with a custom recovery.
I upgraded to Hyperdrive using SS after having rooted with towelroot. The upgrade went fine but soon noticed that I did not have root. Tried towelroot again but it said my phone wasn't supported. Tried flashing supersu, tried saferoot and it came back with permission denied. I'm assuming that has something to do with SELinux and not setting permissive mode. Is there a way to do that manually since the SElinux APK doesn't seem to be working? Vrufnc2 is what the build number is showing. Looking for some ideas here to get root back while maintaining the current hyperdrive rom. Thanks!

Tried towelroot but it did not support the phone, even with adding in exceptions.
I own an Honor 5x, which I used to have rooted running a TWRP recovery and SuperSU. I wanted to update my phone to marshmallow, but it was an OTA update so i had to unroot and go back to the original bootloader. I did everything needed and got my phone upgraded to marshmallow, and was then hoping i could play pokemon go, but for some reason i am getting the error where it says the game does not support my device, the exact same one that i got when i was rooted. i double checked that i was unrooted by downloading literally every single root checking app on the play store, and all of them have classed my phone as unrooted. i dont want to root my phone again as i have nox for rooted stuff now, and it was a hassle extracting th e recovery.img from the update file as noboby else had it, so i was wondering someone here could help me
thanks in advance!:good:

OTA update does not wipe the entire phone, you need to download the full update and manually wipe your phone and install the Full update to totally remove SuperSu.
You could also uninstall SuperSU from the apps settings before taking the OTA to avoid this problem

So what should I do now, I had already downloaded the update thinking it would fix it. I guess I try to manually uninstall it, seeing as the supersu app has already gone?

Two possible ways imo...
If you don't want to root then
Extract and manually flash stock boot.img, Cust.img and system.img and you are good to go without any data loss (but make a backup to be sure if something goes wrong).
Second is to root your phone, and use an app like 'hide my root' to hide your root from Pokemon go and you are good to go.
The third is to root and unroot using the inbuilt function of SuperSU.
