!Stop auto-downloading of voice messages in Whatsapp! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody!
I need to stop auto downloading of voice messages in WhatsApp.
When I go to Settings > Chat Settings > Media Auto Download, it shows a note Voice messages are always downloaded automatically for the best communication experience.
Is there any other way to disable this feature (also changing some app's files)?
Thanks

[Q] Sms notifications on samsung app

Hi!
Can we deactivate sms and sound notifications of the samsung app?
I am going to use handcent sms so I dont want that but I cant see how do it.
Go into the samsung sms app, menu > settings > right to the bottom untick notifications.
thanks law!!
The only annoyance I'm finding is when I read a text in my SMS app, it doesn't register as 'read' on the Samsung SMS app or the Social Hub app, so I end up with a bunch of (1) icons next to the apps.

Somebody please help
on a tablet you will need to have a google voice account and that its linked to hangouts
Dude... I hava done everything... For reference please check the attached screenshot of my hang out settings
Oh the whole section is missing.
On your phone, under the settings for your account does it list both your phone number and your Google voice number?
i've got the same problem
If you look at Settings > Wireless & Networks > More do you have a "Default SMS app" set? As I understand it until there is a default app set ( the Hangouts app) then in Hangouts > Settings menu will not have an SMS option (just displays your account name and "Add Google account")

For this to work, your GMAIL account needs to have GOOGLE VOICE enabled with a PHONE NUMBER.
I'm not certain, but you might also need to have HANGOUTS DIALER installed.
When you do that, a new section will appear in the settings menu (after the google account synchronizes), BELOW the "HANGOUT NOTIFICATIONS" section, called "GOOGLE VOICE - {your google voice number}". In that new section, you will find two checkboxes; "Incoming phone calls", and "Messages". Add a check beside "Messages", and you will have SMS over Google Voice.

Not getting SMS notifications during calls

I'm a long time #SamsungKnight and never had this problem. For some reason, if I get a text while on a call I do not get the notification sound or vibration. If I'm not on a call and recieve a text I get the notification sound and vibrationjust fine. I'm running stock Android and my phone is completely up-to-date as of this posting. I am using Google Messages as my default SMS app with all permissions granted. On a side note I have the same problem when using Samsung's default messaging app.
SETTINGS ==> APPS ==> MESSAGES ==> NOTIFICATIONS ==> allowed and everything except "Connected to Messages for web" is ticked ON
Model number SM-G965U
Android version 8.0.0
Samsung Experience version
9.0
I would suggest you refrain from making multiple posts on the same subject/question/issue. Many forums actually don't allow this, but it also makes it hard to provide help and for others to find information.
Did you check in the phone app settings for Call Alerts. I attached a few images to help.

Replacing default system apps (Messaging SMS, etc)

So I purchased this phone in november of 2020, the RMX2071 CN and had issues with a lot of the CN Rom quirks. One of the biggest ones was not easily being able to change the default SMS app. The issue I was having was the default SMS app would not handle group texts well (all replies coming back from individuals) This was an incredibly annoying oversight and issue. I was unable to change the default SMS Message from within the Settings > App Management > Default App > Messages > It would only allow the system default. I was able to temporarily change it by downloading the google messages app from the play store, opening it and having it set as default.
Now the odd thing was, using the google messages app would work for a little while (minutes?) and then revert back to the default system app!
A few issues i had while using any third party messages app for SMS was that any time i sent an SMS it would prompt to verify identity on the phone.
I tried a lot of different things, but gave up after a while.
Fast forward to this week. I decided to test disabling a few of the bloatware apps using "adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 <package_to_disable>" and after disabling a ton of the heytap, coloros apps that didnt seem relevant, i tried to disable the default system SMS app, which on my phone was (package:com.android.mms) and tried to set the default sms to google messages using the method above, and after testing for 2 days, it did NOT revert back!
Now the downside is that for some odd reason, when i get a text, the notification doesnt make the sound most of the time, and it still prompts for that ID verification when sending texts, but now I can actually get group texts and send properly!
