Any Faster way to flash M4 Aqua than Flashtool - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hi all, Please help me with this,
I am trying to flash Aqua M4 and few other xperia phones. I use flashtool but it is the slowest flashtool i have every used. It is good but very slow. Is there any other faster way of flashing xperia phones? Or are there any ways i can make flashtool work a bit faster.
Thankyou all for support!

You will have to stick with Flashtool because it works. Or you could try the official flasher from Sony but it doesn't work if you unlocked the bootloader and it can only upgrade. It only takes 10 minutes on flash tool so I don't know why its a big deal to wait that long

Wotan Server in no longer free

Too bad Wotan Server is no longer free for flashing.
Firmware Flashing for Sony Ericsson mobile phones is NO longer free. Sorry guys but we spent hundreds of hours and paid 10k+ USD for hosting and caching services in the past year and we are no longer able to offer the free service. Update price is 1.99 EUR
Ah crap...That is not good.
That was currently my only source for stock firmware. Maybe those files, that I have downloaded still work...
Looks like I need to move to Flashtool also then.
Oh no man, damn it T.T where will I download my stock file for my phone...but,I've the downloaded filw for both of my phone in my computer, can I still use it even it is charging people now?
EDIT : WotanServer is now currently under maintenance until Tuesday...

No You cannot flash the already downloaded files as it checks online for credit. Credits have been reduced to 0 from 1 , so it gives error.
Had tried to flash before this post and it was giving error so checked the wotan site and saw the lines in red

Alright, thanks for the info.
Very very bad news but price (1,99EUR) is nothing compared to trash a bricked phone...
I'm not surprised it's not longer free really, considering they were hosting all that data themselves.
Does the Wotanserver client actually do anything that Flashtool or the SE update service can't do?

1 click restore if phone bricked (stock firmware + kernel).
Now you can do it with Flashtool having correct .ftf stock firmware + relocking bootloader manually with s1tool or .ftf locked file.
Why the hell didn't I see this thread, it's my fault...
Now I'm stuck on unrooted .62 firmware. Is there ANY way to go back to .58 without unlocking BL?

You can download the ftf file from this thread.
then flash it using flashtool.
Bootloader unlock is not required to flash stock firmwares.
then root your firmware and the OTA update to .62 and you will have rooted .62

There are threads with official SE firmware on here...untouched...various versions and different file formats e.g. .ftf and sin.
It is bad news about this though.

My tutorial, link in signature.
Didn't see it . I'm not a developer , so I do not know is this hard or not , but - I is hard to create just a .img file of a rooted kernel for ROMs that came after .42 ver. ?
Is it me or is Mini/Mini pro/Active section of the forum less organized then the one for Samsung Galaxy series ?
This is why ...
... I quit developing software for end users.
They'll consume the time and resources of others happily, while buying devices for hundreds of dollars. But if you ask them to contribute two bucks for your hundreds of hours of effort, helping them for free for years, they abandon you in a heartbeat.
How about supporting those who support you, eh?

If you are thinking of me while writing this , you are partially right . I would be glad to support developers with more than 2$ from time to time , but I would rather learn a thing or two , or a lot about Unix/Linux/Android + support those who are already spending time in development for the community . I just asked is it hard , didn't ask for someone to do it for me

Question about Sony PC Companion.

Damn guys I still don't understand something.
1) If I'll unlock bootloader for example to flash customs. I can't use any more Sony PC Companion for firmware update ? Correct.
2) And if I want to get back to Sony PC Companion (example to get latest available update) I need to flash back any stock FTF and after just a lock bootloader back ?
Or what I need just to run Sony Update Service to restore back stock firmware and after lock bootloader ?
please explain in detail's because I read all threads but still confused.

This is the info as i understand it. (yes its confusing!)
- unlocking your bootload will delete your device keys. So x-reality engine will stop working. It will also stop your updates from the sony server (as your device has lost its keys and wont be recognised as an xperia device)
-If you want to enable these sony updates you will need to flash your TA partition back. This will only work if you have a stock FTF firmware package. A custom ROM wont enable your device keys to work.

Great! Doesn't look like anyone else on here is doing this on a dedicated thread consistently for our Ultra.
I have a search and rescue operation unfolding at the moment, so this weekend I'll probably be busy... but when I get back i'll start making them.

Flashed wrong boot, bricked

Hello!
After I unlocked bootloader of Xperia Z2 tablet, I accidentally flashed wrong boot and now I see only orange charging light. Tablet reacts to reboot with long press of switch button and reacts to swotch+volup combo, that switches it to flashmode for a short period(few secs) and then reboots. Seems that I cant reach fastboot mode, and use flashmode long enough to use flashtool. What options do I have?

Thank you very much for you timely response and for making the Stock FTF available.
I was able to root the z2 Tablet months ago and then a few days used XperiFirm and Flashtool to update to what I believed was the new Lollipop only to find out I had updated to 4.4.4. I didn't realize though that root would be disabled. I've been looking for an "easy" way to root again i.e. I don't want to downgrade to 4.4.2 unless I'm sure I have the correct FTF (hence my request) for the US Verizon LTE FTF.les I need the original stock FTF for emergency's sake.
Nonetheless, I will most likely wait to for Lollipop FTF to become available and then hopefully a root exploit will become available. However, correct if I am wrong it seems all current LOLLIPOP ROOT methods involve downgrading to 4.4.2 to root and building towards Lollipop again?
Thanks again.

Yes. At moment only way to root with locked bootloader is downgrade to 4.4.2, root and then update with prerooted firmware. Because this is easy way to root I don´t think there is no much development to find new exploit to root.

need a bit of help..

Hey folks if anyone has time can someone please if you have flashtool with xperiafirm, download and the ftf and zip the MEA pie version and post here, as I am currently traveling and in an area with really bad internet and a company computer that is locked down.. Any ways I want to try the ta backup, and then root with pie but it will take like 15 hours for me download the ftf.. Thanks
Wanted to do the same but poor knowledge on Sony (coming from HTC).
And even by reading and reading I did not find a step by step which will avoid risk to brick or loose photo or others stuff.
As I am photoholic, I cannot afford to loose DRM and so.
Good luck bro and share your success

There are two ways to do it, one is with flashtool with xperiafirm, http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php .. There are a few guides on how to use it no need to unlock your bootloader as your flashing stock firmware.
You can also Newsflasher ( read here.. https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....-newflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426/amp/ )
I used this today as I wanted to try it out and it was really easy to use.. I used this pdf guide by munted ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...-exploits-temp-root-to-backup-t3795510/page39 , second post) as I was playing around.. Till I hit an issues with adb.. grr but in the guide there is a quick and easy guide with pictures to flash the ftf. download Xperiafirm ( https://xperifirm-tool.en.lo4d.com.) to download the ftf... If you have any questions shout as I used it today to reflash mine back back and all is fine..

Alternative to stock firmware

Hi,
I have an Xperia X which despite being long abandoned by Sony is still as reliable as the day I got it. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to using different firmware on phones. Are there any different firmware's out there that I could install which are kept up to date or has my phone been abandoned by everybody now?
Thanks.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for my late reply.
I have looked into Sony aosp and they offer a tool to unlock the bootloader and a flash tool. My device is listed as "maintained" which is good, but what to actually flash is where I'm getting lost. I can find a software binary from May 2019 but it's only 90MB, surely that cannot be the entire Android operating system? I'm savy enough to be able to unlock and flash a single ROM file, but if I have to start "building" a ROM with a load of Linux commands then that's beyond me.
