I have always used the following and never had it fail:
With a device that is turned off:
Hold VolUp + VolDn
Insert USB cable - no need to hit Power
VolUp + VolDn + Power with no USB cable inserted will put you into recovery mode (3e for stock kernels, CWM for custom kernels). Note that you need to let go of Power when the screen turns on but keep holding VolUp + VolDn.
With a device that is turned on, I usually do "adb reboot download".
That button combo works for the i9100 version of the phone.
For the i777 our att version it its
1. Make sure phone is powered off
2. Have the USB cable attached to your computer but NOT your phone yet
3. Hold down both volume up and down (do NOT touch the power button) and plug in your USB to your phone
4. Accept the warning that flashing custom modified software your phone could cause problems
And bingo your in download mode
Or optionally buy our make a USB jig which will put phone intro download mode and reset your binary flash counter.

No problem , thanks for replying anyway
For anyone like me that finds this thread, With my I777 you had to hold power, vol up, and home. Hit accept and then you could plug in.

i was trying to root it and install recovery mode this file CWM_Recovery_with_201211201515_kernel and h press rebooot but it down reboot from them.and dont turn on
Try to remove sd, sim, battery. Hold volume down + home + power button while still holding insert the battery. It should go to download mode so you can flash from odin.
If it neither goes to download mode, try usb-jig.

Bricked my phone

Hello,
after i tried to root my phone, it just stucks with the message that no recovery is installed...
I can't go in the Download mode because, i figured out that my vol+ and vol- buttons aren't working.
My pc isn't recognizing my phone either...
Is there any option to recover it?

Whats wrong with your volume buttons? You cant do anything unless you can get into download/ recovery mode

just keep holding vol down home button and power until you get into download mode. it took about 15-20 sec

How to enter fastboot mode on Oppo A39?

I've tried to press and hold Power Button + Volume Up, but it doesn't work.
adb reboot bootloader from adb & fastboot also doesn't work, it reset the phone then back to home screen.

Uh, another A39/CPH1605 user here. I think you're trying to root this device. You basically can't reboot your phone into it, without TWRP.

Successfully installed TWRP but phone won't turn on?

please need help very urgently. i was trying to install a custom rom in my phone today. unlocking bootloader was successful, installing twrp was successful too and i was very happy. when i tried to boot into the recovery it turned off and never booted. tried restarting (volume up+power button), pressing the power button but nothing happens. it's still in the "off" state. please don't think it is a bootloop. the phone doesn't turn on and i can't see the logo. seems like it is permanently turned off

Sometimes it is that the screen is blank but TWRP is there though, when you are presumably in TWRP, connect your device to the PC and try with ADB commands to see what happens, let us know.

Not this way, press the buttons to supposedly enter to TWRP, do all of them blindly. Start with pressing the three buttons simultaneously for about 12 seconds (this will power off your device) then immediately press the volume up + PWR button for about 7 seconds (to enter to TWRP), then type the commands.
Pay attention if something is displayed in your screen and if you hear some sound when connecting to PC.
