LG V10 for use in Canada on Virgin / Bell Network - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, this phone was never released in Canada and I am thinking of purchasing one. Problem is I'm not sure what version will work to allow me to get lte signal. I am looking at a unlocked tmobile phone. Would anybody know what versions will work? Sorry for the question but I am not sure how to figure out the bands, and I don't want to purchase something that won't work properly. Thanks for the help!

you can use a T-mobile one just fine. However you must purchase it unlocked. DO NOT under any circumstances buy one that is not confirmed to already be unlocked. You will likely not be able to unlock it yourself. Many of us (myself included) have failed miserably to unlock this particular device.

Hello, thanks for your help! The search for a phone will continue the guy selling the phone doesn't want to ship to Canada. I did find a person selling international version. Just never seen a duel sim phone before so going to do some reading on it. Once again thanks!!!

I have the dual SIM version (h961n) and I'm on Virgin Mobile. Out of the box, it works with full 3G and limited LTE support (2600mhz - works only in Downtown Toronto). However, after rooting and following the LTE band enabling instructions, I was able to get all the LTE bands I need for the network (Band 2, Band 4, etc...). I hope this helps in your search for a phone

Thanks for the help! Going to continue looking for a tmobile or At&t so I hopefully can get full lte without doing any root. Thanks again for the help appreciate it!!!

The Mexican one works for Roger's!

The Taiwan version of the V10, H962, are all sold unlocked, even those which are sold through carriers. They are bloat free too. Dunno if they can be used I Canada though. But they are all dual sim and have 64gb of internal storage.

Hello, How hard was it to root and make the changes to get LTE bands to work? thanks for the information. I am having a hard time finding a phone out of the US with the exchange rate and the duty and shipping.

Hello,
Can someone tell me if there is any better or worse US version of this phone to purchase when it comes to bloatware? as on ebay the verizon version seem to sell cheaper than the at&t or tmobile version. I like the tmobile version because they don't stamp there logo on the back of the phone. But read there phones get blacklisted alot? any suggestion would be great! Thanks

How did you manage to enable lte bands? If you can help, or post a link to the forum, that would be great...

UK phone in US - 3G does not work.

I just purchased a SG SII here in the US and later found out it is a UK phone (the sales rep said it was a US model)
anyway, the phone works great EXCEPT it will not log onto T-Mobiles 3G network. All I get is EDGE which is terrible.
How can I get it to go to 3G?
Spoke with T-Mobile, even got a new sim card. No help
Spoke wth Samsung US - they tried, could not help and then said to contact the UK.
Called Samsung UK and they said it should work, if not, bring it back as it is broken!
anyway, is there some sort of settings that I can change to make it work in the US.
I also need it to work in Brazil as I will be going there and will be using the Brazilian Tim network and installing their sim card.
thank you for your assistance in advance.
The phone is suppose to be:
HSPA+ 21Mbps/ HSUPA 5.76Mbps
EDGE/ GPRS Class 12
Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100
Did you limit the phone to only work with 2G in the settings?
Check Wireless Network settings.
Much more better would be goto Settings->About phone, tell us what Baseband, and Kernel, and ROM version you are using.
Reboot phone.

Exactly, that phone will never work on T-Mobile USA 3G network, refund it or switch to AT&T. Makes you wish someone would regulate mobile networks here.
Edit: SGS2 should work fine on TIM Brazil.
you guys are absolutely certain that this phone will not work on T-Mobile?
what about certainty that it will work on Tim? I live in Brazil and defintely need it to work there.
Here, in the US, when I return next year, I can alway switch over to AT+T.
I need to be certain because if I get to brazil and it does not work, I am screwed because then it is almost impossible to get anything done to it.
BTW- they have been saying that t-mobile will have this same phone in a few months. How will that one be able to work? will it be possible to flash that info to this phone when it comes out?
thanks

The US T-mobile Variant is completely different from the UK model, won't be the same. Also it's true you can never get 3G with T-Mobile, don't know anything about TIM though.
T-Mobile uses the 1700 AWS band which this phone does not use so yes... You will NEVER get 3g or HSPA+ with T-Mobile U.S.
From Wikipedia's list of UMTS frequencies:

so when you say fine, the phone, 3g to get to the internet, etc etc will all work?
as it is here, the phone works great and when with wi-fi, the internet is great but EDGE sucks ass.
So, as I already know that I am beating the dead horse. 3G here with T-Mobile is never going to happen but it will work with AT+T, in Brazil, the phone for calls will work fine, 3G will also work fine too.
does anyone know about claro, vivo or oi in brazil? just wondering....
and what about other carriers in the US, will it work with anyone beside AT+T?
thanks again. this has been very useful!
EDGE runs on GPRS. Your phone matches TIM's UMTS frequencies so it will have 3G data on that network.

Why would you buy a phone without checking on what radio bands it works , its not like US has only one provider they all have different bands/frequencies.

as I said in my first post, I was told it was a US version phone. HENCE, I figured it would work in the US.
I buy unlocked phones as I am in Brazil 9 months a year and Cali 3 months a year so I can not be under contract.

so if I have been schooled properly. T-Mobile uses 1700 and 2100, so without the 1700 band, it wont work!
I guess I got to talk with AT+T
will any other carrier in the US support this?????

it seems that only T-Mobile and a few Canadian carriers (and cincinati bell) use the 1700 network! I wonder why?
they need to join the rest of the world and get on board with 2100!

Is the VZW Galaxy S4 SIM and APN unlocked out of the box?

Hey everyone,
I just searched this topic and didn't find any definitive answers so I thought I'd ask...
Anyways is the VZW Galaxy S4 SIM unlocked out of the box? I keep reading the new VZW releases in 2012 and onwards are according to the VZW forums and website but then I found a post of someone asking VZW for an unlock. It its an official code its easier to just ask VZW as I meet all the requirements (1+ year customer). Also I read that on the S3 the APN settings are blocked on the default VZW firmware unless rooted. Is the APN settings on the S4 open (changeable) by default?
Also what's a realistic battery life you guys are getting out of this phone?
Am comparing phones and need a phone that is:
1. SIM Unlocked and APN settings changable that has VZW's US CDMA and LTE bands PLUS ALL the international bands (the 4 GSM and 4 UMTS international bands).
2. Has HSPA+21 at least.
3. Long battery life to last the day.
4. Rootable so I can get rid of VZW crap and increase the battery life.
I've also not seen any international VZW phones with HSPA+42 dual carrier like Apple's iPhone 5. I'm also debating getting a Android versus iOS phone...

Recently took my S4 to Brazil and spent a fair bit of time talking to Verizon Global Support before the trip. One of the questions I asked was whether the phone was SIM unlocked so that I could purchase a SIM card while in Brazil and use local service down there. The VZW rep assured me the phone was indeed unlocked, but I did not use a Brazilian SIM card while on travel so I cannot confirm via personal experience.
I can confirm that it is unlocked. I put an active att sim card in, that then allowed me to add the correct apn info. I was then able to make calls and use data.

The SCH-I545 has Quad band GSM/EDGE frequency's (850/900/1800/1900) and Quad band UMTS/HSPA (850/900/1900/2100) As well as AWS bands for LTE (1700/2100) so it should get LTE on T-Mobile. However, it does not have the capabilities to get LTE on AT&T since the SCH-I545 does not have the frequency's to operate on AT&T's LTE network but it will get HSPA+ on both networks. It will work on Sprint as well but it will not get LTE since its two LTE bands, (700 and 1700/2100), are not compatible. Sprint operates on the same CDMA/ Ev-Do bands as VZW so you will get 3G. I can confirm that i have used the SCH-I545 with an AT&T SIM card and i got HSPA+ speeds.

The AWS is there but not activated yet. for now you will only get EDGE on t-mobile unless in a refarmed are you will pickup HSPA. you will however pickup all AWS tis summer when verizon activates that band on our phone.
SOURCE: I'm on the 30$ a month prepaid with t-mobile. edge sucks but it works.

No, but that is because i am not in an area where ATT has LTE turned on. South Dakota is still on the waiting list. Verizon uses different frequencies for LTE then ATT does.
Verizon has never locked their phones, even the CDMA ones. If you put a non Verizon SIM in you can change the APN settings

[Q] Sprint G3 LTE freq

Hi
was thinking of signing up for this great phone. Thing holding me back is whether if I travel overseas say to Asia/EU, would I be able to pop in a 4G/LTE sim card (assume unlocked by Sprint) and use the local data plan? The common band in the country I visit would be band 3,7. Would this work?
I think the 3G should work but not sure about 4G.
Thanks for any enlighten information.
Cheers.

The sprint G3 has bands 25, 26, and 41. I doubt it has any other bands.
All American variants are capable of running on all American networks, if they are SIM unlocked. The only American band not covered that I am aware of is band 5 on ATT.
They should work on 4G almost anywhere in the world really. I just checked again and yeah, other then band 5 all American variants of the G3 have all other bands in the radio and are capable of running anywhere you have a sim for it. Cheerio.

Us Cellular version to use with Verizon

So I just read and saw on line that the US Cellular version of the LG G6 is on $550 buy it out right. Would this version work with Verizon Wireless. It looks to have the same LTE bands. What would be the chance of buying and putting a Verizon sim in it and it works out the gate. Anyone have any ideas?

GSMarena doesn't currently list 3G bands for the US Cellular G6 (US997). However, I've seen the Verizon and US Cellular versions of phones differ on 3G bands before (see the Galaxy S7 USA, for example), so 3G might have problems if you just popped a Verizon SIM card into a US Cellular G6.
I'm wondering if there could be a similar method to the one that was discovered for the HTC 10 where you flash radio images from the Verizon variant onto another phone:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-10/how-to/vzw-how-to-unlocked-model-vzw-t3376743
Is the us cellular version factory unlocked? It is the same model number as the unlocked version, us997. I'm looking to use on AT&T.
It looks like you have to pick up some kind of plan from them to get the $550 price. It's probably better to go the b&h route (or hope vzw does a mother's day week sale).
Update: Ended up buying a new us cellular us997 for cheap. Popped my straight talk/at&t sim in and it works flawlessly. I always use this site to check bands
https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/0Dlph6Y/lg-us997-g6-lte-a/united-states
I have used that site several times and its always been accurate. From what im seeing, the us cellular model supports all of the bands needed for verizon. It doesnt support CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rel. 0 but does support CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A. So if 3G is a major concern, I'd check and see which one is used in your area. I personally wouldn't care about the 3G considering the price difference of the USC model and the fact that all LTE and voice bands are supported. Hope this helps

Galaxy tab s6 256gb LTE UK with US google Fi simcard

Hi all,
I am trying to decide between getting a samsung galaxy tab s6 256gb UK LTE version from the amazon.co.uk. or the one from ebay South Korean version.
Has anyone got it from amazon.co.uk and use it in the US without making a phonecall in the UK first (I read the heshamy27's success with the egyptian sim)? Could I use the tablet to make a phone call?
I am currently using galaxy note 10.1 2014 T-mobile edition with google FI simcard.
Thank you.
One of the problems you'll have with either of the suppliers you have mentioned is you'll likely get hammered for import duty.
Do you not know anyone in who might be coming to the UK soon who could carry one back for you?
Even better, you could let them have a sim of the carrier you want to use to test in the UK while they're here.
@pinsb unfortunately I have nobody is going to the UK this year. It would have been awesome.
I am more concerned about the région lock for the tablet. Hmm.. Does it mean, I will not be able to use the tablet at all?
I wish T-Mobile had the 256gb model available for purchase here in the states.

This was just a way for me to get an unlocked LTE model without waiting for the US Carriers with their usual locked bootloaders. I am not sure of other ways to do it. Plus I wanted a 256GB version and I was not sure if the US Carriers would be selling that one.

Hi,
Does yours work properly with LTE after the last update ?
I got the same SM-T865N and found out that if I set up LTE/3g, it will not connect to internet. However, setting it up for 3g only works OK and will work even with LTE if switched after.
Same behavior with several Canadian providers. Hard reset did not fix it and my provider's CS can't do much more than making sure everything looks OK on their end.
Could you please test it and let me know your results ?
Thanks,

Need to check the LTE Bands in use and Frequencies supported on the tablet. I use T-Mobile in the US and in most places I do not have an issue but I have found in some places they use a different LTE band in a city and I see LTE but internet is not working. Check your carrier bands and frequencies and compare to these:
Network
2G GSM
GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS
B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B8(900)

I see.
But I meant something slightly different.
Even in places with a good coverage, if I reboot the tablet while it is set to LTE/3g, it does show LTE but will not get connected to the network, no matter how long I may wait.
To get it connected, I have to manually switch it to 3G and it will get connected immediately. Then I can switch back to LTE and it will work properly on LTE until I shut the tablet off.
There is definitely something wrong with either this model or its current firmware. That is why I wanted to double check to know whether it's a common issue or just me.
I will try to contact Samsung support to get more info.
In the meantime, I would not mind flashing a different version if that brings the solution.
I am not sure it can be done.
Thanks
I just got a 256gb lte version in eBay from Korea. It works well with Google Fi. But it's kinda pricy compare to the standard wifi version in the US.
