g925f low battery = time and date reset? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, I have a g925f and I found this problem.
if the phone is discharged until it turns off, the date and time will reset.
in addition I would like to know if it is normal for ultra power saving mode with 50% battery have a duration of 10 hours.
im sorry for bad english .. i use google translate

It might be either a
-hardware issue
-software issue
First check if its a software issue then go for hardware issue if still not fixed...
If its a software issue - Flash official firmware
If its a hardware issue - All mobiles keep minimum 2% to 5% to keep their internal clock running.
So check it with a samsung official store.
.

how to check if is firmware?
i wanna flash but have "error "

[Q] Kitkat 4.4.2 battery drain (CM11 M7 on S2)

Hi,
I can’t say I’m impressed at all with the SGS2 battery life running CM11 M7 (KitKat 4.4.2). Quite often the battery won’t last through the day (luckily I can charge it at work, otherwise it wouldn’t even be bearable as a phone).
My crappy Sony Xperia J (JB) I had for a couple of weeks as a replacement could easily reach the end of the day with 70% charge still left when I plugged it in at night.
Android battery stats always show Android System and Android OS as the main offenders (around 20% - 25% each), above Screen usage, Voice calls, Mobile standby...
BetterBatteryStats tells me the phone is in the Deep Sleep most of the time, but also that it is awake (mostly at 200 MHz) quite a lot of time as well.
Here’s what I have already tried:
Disabled location services
Disabled Google Now
Disabled Google+ Auto-backup
Opt out of interest-based ads
Disabled back up data to Google servers
Disabled “Android Device Manager” as Device Administrator
Uninstalled all updates to Google Play Services
Disabled automatic updates from the Play Store
Disabled Mobile Data Limit
Disabled Automatic Date/Time updating
Uninstalled Lookout Antivirus
Uninstalled Viber
Uninstalled Skype
Rebooting the phone before connecting the charger
Rebooting the phone immediately after disconnecting the charger
I really don’t want to perform a factory reset specially since I have read some other comments by Galaxy S5 and Nexus 5 owners (KitKat 4.4.2) saying it didn’t work…
So what exactly is going on here?
Thanks!
Sorry

Sorry I cannot help you, however, I am also contemplating installing cm11 on my sgs2 i9100.
I wanted to ask you if you phone came with android version 2 installed on it? (maybe in that case the problem is incapable hardware)
Mine came with 2.3.4 and i do not want to face the same problem as you are now (sorry).
Thanks
It is normal, that non-stock-based roms consume more power because Samsung haven't open-sourced all drivers. And Kitkat drains more than Jellybean. Try Slimsaber Reborn. It has a decent battery life, an very acitve developer, and is nicely customizable.
Any luck?

Hi MegaShark!
I have almost the same issue you have, my device never go to deep sleep... (by "never" I mean 1 minute deep sleep and 1 hour 200MHz)
After months trying, getting help from Better Battery Status thread, flashing, freezing, going crazy, I commited suicide (flashed stock ROM), but it is driving me mad.
The last try I did was with SlimSaber Reborn (Android 4.3.1), but no luck also.
Installed "Unbounce", prevented nlp wakelock, prevented safe alarms and nothing, it only gets worse...
All I get is my device always warm (always running at minimum of 200MHz) and more than 10% battery drain per hour.
Have you found out what is the problem with our S2 on custom ROMs?
Thank you!
First of all, I would advise you to update your rom. CM11 M7 is old now and is filled with bugs (along with versions around that). Update to CM11 M11 Snapshot which will most likely fix many of the problems you are facing but you will need to do a full wipe (factory reset, wipe dalvik and cache partitions). So sorry, the only way to fix is to wipe your data and update.
Will try!

I remember to have hope until CM11 M9... But I'll give M11 a try and report back here!
Drain NOT related to any of the CM version
I have been facing battery draining problem in my sgs2 (i9100) just after installing CM 11.
Then I tried NeatROM without any Luck!
Every time i cleaned data, cache and dalvik to be sure...
at the end I moved back to Stock ROM - everything fine there...
but again then I decided to have just root and custom recovery installed... which required me to Flash Jeboo Kernel v1.2a (which comes with CWM based recovery 6.0.2.7 preloaded)
then it started same problems again... overheating - battery draining ...
It clearly look like ... the battery draining/overheating problem is because of .... Kernel AND/OR CWM 6.XXX
I think, if one want to install CM 11 in sgs2, after installing ROM, he/she need to flash it with some other kernel.
If anybody have tried some other kernel, which doesn't cause battery draining/overheating problem, then pls post here so that other can also try...
Confused

pankhawala, I installed the last available SlimSaber Reborn (4.3) (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...rivatives/rom-slimsaber-reborn-i9100-t2811657) because o lots of positive feedback on this ROM.
It is really a very nice ROM, but my battery drain problem persisted, I was losing more than 10%/hour in idle.
I just tried to "live with it" and after some weeks it mysteriously gone away.
I was happy for a few days and it went back again.
Now, it has been since this Sunday that it is gone again.
I'm being able to have a very acceptable battery life, very good deep sleep times and less than 4%/h when idle (screen off).
I didn't changed anything and it just got better by itself.
I'm sure it will start to drain again, just don't know when or what is triggering it.
My last hope is that when new Lollipop ROMs start coming out for our S2, some holy developer figure out this problem or that the problem is simply gone.

[Q] Strange GPS behaviour on Huawei Ascend Y550

Hi all,
this is my very first post here on xda, so please forgive me if this is not the proper section for my thread. I searched for other thread about similar issues, but I didn't find anyone. I'm Italian, so I even hope to not being wrong in English writing.
I recently bought (on November 2014) an Huawei Ascend Y550-L01 (Android 4.4.4, EMUI 2.3, ROM B137), coming from a (Portuguese) Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5512. Soon I experienced a very strange GPS behaviour: GPS turns itself off. No problem in signal fixing, nor in quality or precision. It simply deactivates.
First I noticed this using the OruxMaps app (which works fine on many phones, even my old one), simply recording the track. Indeed, at the beginning the app was being killed (because of the integrated task-killer) when screen was off, but after setting it as a "protected" app, when I record a track, GPS works while screen is on and, if screen turns off, then most of the times (not always) GPS is deactivated from within Android settings.
I even received (from the purchasing time) some GPS errors while in the home screen... I don't remember exactly that error, but in a fast Internet search it was told being caused from the weather widget, precisely from the "actual position" setting. I deactivated it and added manually my town and those errors were gone.
Then I noted another strange behaviour: GPS turns off even in standby, during night. It is on "extreme precision" on evening and it's off at morning. Sometimes I notice these deactivation (in the notification menu or into the energy saving widget) while I'm using the phone (but always when screens is off), without any error or message popping out... It simply gets deactivated.
Any other experiencing this strange issue? What could be the cause? I sent a mail to official support, but they asked me to take the phone in a service point... I can't stay without phone, so I would like to avoid this if it's not strictly needed.
I think it's a ROM issue (said that even in the mail), but unfortunately still there is no alternative one (or at least I found none). I think also that (almost) every app that uses GPS suffers for the same behaviour I faced using OruxMaps.
PS: phone IS rooted by a couple of week, but I'm facing this issue from the first day.
What the hell is going on? Any help, idea or trying suggestion is appreciated...
Many thanks!
Up?
I also see strange problems on the Y550-L01 connected to GPS.
In my case the GPS does not disconnect completely, but during car navigation the signal gets lost from time to time (tested with different navigation apps).
This is only the case when the Y550 is NOT connected to the charger. If I connect it to the power supply, GPS works quite reliable and accurate!
For me this sounds like a software problem (maybe connected to a power saving mode?). I hope a firmware update will fix this soon.
Even to me this is a firmware issue. Before of your answer, I was really beginning to think it's a fault of my phone. Now that I'm not the only one, I went back to think of a bug.
If it is a power save problem, then try to use this app to stop the power save mode :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
(ultra light : 35K, free/no adds)
"Wake Lock gives you control over the Android Power- and WifiManager.
For example, you can force the PowerManager to keep the screen on or have the CPU still running in standby mode or make sure the Wifi connection keeps running at full performance.
You can use it on any android phone or tablet.
Use it to keep the screen on in full brightness or dimmed mode during movies or slideshows.
To make sure the CPU is still running in the background doing your tasks when you press the standby button."
Thank you for the report.
It seems that the new huaweï G620S has the same GPS problem :

Any news of an Huaweï update ? Hope yes...

Need Help - Multiple Issues

Hey Guys,
I need help in fixing my S6 Edge or i might have to dump it for the new Pixel. I am seeing multiple issues with my phone which i will list below
- Heating up (Phone Info shows 80 degree celcius) when using some apps while charging
- Battery drains from 100% to 20% in approx 3 hrs on moderate usage (browsing/games)
- Frequent lags
- GPS signal lost message while using maps and wierd it shows me on top of buildings while driving
I have tried soft reset, closing all apps, clear cache etc.
Model: SM-G925I
Android Version: 6.0.1
Baseband: G925IDVU3EPH4
BTW most of the time i use only Safari, calls, Clash of clans and whatsapp on this phone. I know a complete reset might fix these but are there any solutions other than a reset? The phone is less than an year old however due to a failed root attempt long time back the counter has triggered and i believe the warranty has been void now.

Reset might fix problem. Probably not. You have to try it. Or maybe you need to reflash the firmware.

Need help in debugging/finding battery drain reason

Hello forum,
background info:
I have a rare Pansonic Android 5.0.2 phone (DMC-CM1) with an excellent camera, what is the reason why I want to keep this device.
There are NO custom roms available and no info about key combinations on how to get into stock recovery mode. I can go there with adb of course.
I found a key combination to get into fastboot, but Wiping cache/data to reset the device apparently did nothing, even if wating for hours. It seems as well as if Panasonic tampered with the stock bootloader :/ This is why I had to send it to service (adb was not enabled before).
They reflashed the device with 4.4.4 and I installed the updates to 5.0.2 OTA. Everything seemed fine until...
present problem:
...now I have a strange battery drain. Bevor I sent it it, I had about 2-3 days usage time with average usage, a little messageing, a few fotos. I do not use the phone much.
Now I get a maximum of around 16-20 hours out of it while it is just resting on the table. It also gets warm.
what have I done so far:
- I rooted the device and installed better battery stats from the forum here. It shows around 8-10% usage per hour. Before the problem showed, I had 1-2% usage.
- I uninstalled EVERY own installed app and even booted into safe mode -> same problem
- I disabled all google app packages -> same problem, but improved it a little
When I check the battery via android settings, it is telling me that "android-system" is using >20% of the battery. In active apps I can see this app is running the fast dormancy service. When I kill this service and force the complete app to stop, it gets _a little_ better, around 5-6% usage.
I recently killed forced stop on all services that where not qualcom or seemed essential to me and disables wifi and bluetooth and over night usage dropped to <1%/h, which seemed the problem could lie somewhere with services.
However using adb shell and pulling "top" info, I dont see a process using much CPU.
What else have I noticed, which might be unrelated:
-After charging I see a 100% wakelock from qpnp-charger, that disappears only after rebooting. Might indicate that something with qualcom is "wrong".
-I set wifi to be _never_ be running in sleep mode. Better battery stats is telling me, that wifi is 100% of the time running, even if I can see the symbol for wifi is not showing and comes up a few seconds after I wake the phone
You can see, I might need help on how to identify the problem here.
Any hints, tips, advice?
Please excuse my "messy" english, it is not my native language.
regards
Stefan

how to solve google play service high battery usage & Exynos Idle consumption

Good Day all ,
for those 2 problems the solution is very easy ,
1-for the google play services , if you find it on top of the consumption list , just enter settings - apps - choose google play services - clear cash then storage & manage data and clear all cash & data , it will be fixed nearly 99% of the time,
for general exynos bad consumption the real solution to this is to enter settings - general - reset - then reset settings & accessibility & network then factory reset , and DO NOT restore APPS and SETTINGS again plz plz ,
just restore your Messages if needed & restore you contacts from imported file to SD card for example or from google account , but don't restore any apps or app settings & download them again as new phone from the play store & samsung store
you will find all problems with battery is solved & no heating up etc.. and no complains that the exynos is not as good as SD855
How big difference did you notice?
hm..maybe... but there's clearly something wrong with how the exynos is interacting with the software right now. Because SD855 users are having now issues no matter how they set up their phone

I reset my phone yesterday and despite heavy use and being 15 hours off the charger, I have almost 7 hours of SoT on my 855. That involves a lot of app downloading, creating caches for apps I use, clearing some to re-set some things that I changed, and 5 or 6 reboots.
My S10e is getting so much out of my little battery.

the phone now goes to deep sleep properly as per CPU SPY , whenever i leave my phone for a while it enters deep sleep even if sync & location is on etc..
also the overnight drain on airplane mode goes down from about 6 or 7% in every 7Hours sleep to 1 or 2% max in the 7H sleep.
No DEEP SLEEP - EXYNOS
I did a full reset and after that no DEEP SLEEP neither... I'm trying to figure out why is happening
Just a heads up to everyone if you have high google play services usage it is most likely due to a rougue 3rd party app. In my case it was a battery monitoring app causing the abnormal usage and battery drain. It was causing google play services to always be active, after uninstalling the app the battery drain and always active usage of google play services is gone.
In my case I found what is causing the issue, after I did a video conference with Whatsapp or Google Duo, it never enters in deep sleep again, I should reboot my phone to make DP working again... very nasty bug
