Recently I figured out that while running some apps on my phone suddenly the display becomes dim and the phone doesn't respond. the application doesn't force close but i have to press the back key three times to make the screen bright and force the phone to respond. this issue doesn't always arise on the same app. i faced this issue two times. one such app was friendcaster for Facebook. while moving from newsfeed to the main panel, screen went dim and phone didn't respond to touch taps or option s hard key. the other app i don't remember. running cm7's latest stable release

Is there any way to get the Screen to light up, when the screen is locked and dark and then I provide some mouse/keyboard/touchpad input. I am a laptop user for 11 years or so, and it's just second nature at this point to touch the touchpad to get the screen to light up so you can enter a password. I end up having to take my hand off the keypad and hit the button on the top edge to wake my prime up. It's a minor annoyance at best, but it just seems like something this should just have. I tried the screen brightness keys on the top row with no luck. Thanks for the help.

It should be under Asus custom settings in the Settings menu.

Yep once you disable the dock battery saving in the Asus settings, and then you can touch any keys/touched and it will wake the device up.

That did the trick. Thanks applied!
There is a tiny problem that is annoying me,when i lock the screen and after that i push one of the buttons to turn it on the screen doesnt show in the beginning the lockscreen,it shows the screen of the device,i mean if i lock my screen when the browser is open than when i push one of the buttons the device will show the browser and after that it will show the lock screen, sometimes its really short and sometime its little long.
Is there any way to disable this thing?

Hmmmm, not sure why but sometimes when my battery is low, some parts of the top of the screen tend to stop registering touch input. As an example, if i'm in the Play Store and I try to touch the search bar to bring up the keyboard but it doesn't work...also sliding down from top to bring down notifications also doesnt work.
Anybody else have this issue?
nope
I've never had the screen stop registering touches, but I often have the notification bar stop responding to swipes.
I can resolve the latter by going to the lock screen and trying it there. The notifications will always open from there, and it starts working after being done once.
I've also set up a gesture shortcut to open the notifications by swiping down with two fingers. I'm using Nova Launcher, and that one always works.

I also am using Nova and have had prime installed for a long time.
I also had this issue (though at 100% battery) after a reboot. Rebooting again didn't work. Switched to TouchWiz briefly which also didn't work, but then I hit the Nova Prime button (already installed) and after reverting to Nova Launcher it started working again. Not sure exactly what fixed it though.
I think I'll send a link to the Nova dev and see what he thinks

I sent en email to the devs with a link to the thread. Maybe they will find the cause of the problem
I restored my phone 2 times in the past week and problem randomly comes back. I don't even have to have a low battery, it did it to me 10 minutes after taking it off the charger for a full night. I have no idea what is the cause but about 1/2 inch of the entire top of my screen has no response to touch. I can solve this by rebooting but recently i discovered that if i flip my phone and force it to rotate the screen, the problem stops right away. I doubt its a hardware issue, but then again, if it was software, a restore should have solved that issue.
This is happening to me as well and I'm using Apex, not Nova. Seems like it's been randomly happening since 5.1.1 was installed. Any word yet on a fix?
Hi, recently I started facing touch screen issues.
My touch sensitive buttons aren't responding and sometimes the lower part of the touch screen is unresponsive. That is fixed with a gentle squeeze and a lock and unlock. Sometimes the touch behaves as if I'm using two fingers than one (scaling when trying to fast forward video using one finger )
Sometimes the entire touch screen goes unresponsive which is fixed with a lock and unlock. The scroll becomes dead slow too sometimes. Again the fix is the same.
I'm not sure if this is a firmware issue or hardware issue. The rest of the touch works fine.
I'm using a Gionee P6
I tried to trouble shoot using the secret star codes but unfortunately the menu is in Chinese for this device.
If someone could help before I send it in for repair which will take a long time I'd appreciate it
EDIT : I Was able to use the touch screen testing from the diagnosis hardware menu and there are no dead points. Every part of the touch screen responds. Except when I actually use them in Android
